Netflix working on Xoom - Xoom General

I am on a Xoom 3G US on Android 3.1 unrooted.
I downloaded the APK from this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15830918
and viola I have netflix streaming on my Xoom.

Yay!
Just posted this in the apps forum myself.

I can confirm it works on my US Wifi Xoom w/ HC3.1/Tiamat v1.4.2!

Yep...amazingly its working...yaaaayyyyy for this and big thanks for the find

Amazing! Confirmed working on us 3g xoom. Thank youuuuu

Fantastic. Thank you for testing.

Works great here too

Works great on my WiFi... Hopefully they dont find a way to make it stop working...

Dang, this has really kicked up my Xoom another few notches on the "worth it" scale
Working great on my Xoom wifi, no lag, sound is great, running full screen

Finally. Now I have a little less buyers remorse. Now improve multitasking, CPU acceleration, Program compatibility, and build a solid keyboard dock like the transformer and I'll feel a lot better.

Working perfect on Xoom WiFi 3.2! Thanks.

Its working pretty good on my VZW 3G Xoom (over wifi... as I don't have 3G service activted on my Xoom)
And as an added bonus... HDMI out to my TV continues playing the movie!! (i.e. started playing a movie on the XOOM, then connected microHDMI cable to the TV, and the movie is playing on both the Xoom screen and TV Screen). It looks better on the Xoom screen, as with other attempts at video out across microHDMI to the TV, video is a little jerky and too warm.

Works great for me, now only if we can get the Hulu Plus app to work.....

*FISTPUMP*

Great Find!!! working great for me via WiFi and 3G

awesome! just when i was about to return the xoom to costco

thanks works great on Galaxy Tab 10.1

WOW. I really considered that the ONLY thing I REALLY wanted in a tablet (without even considering an iPad....I'm definately an Android fan!). I have it playing now! This is the BEST! I'm more excited about this than when someone posted a version to get it working on my DX. Thanks for posting! I thanked the guy from your link too.

Works great!

Anyone not able to call up keyboard to use search in Netflix? Tiamat 1.1 US WiFi.

[Q] A500 or iPad???

Hi there, i have some question wanna ask you
I m just confusing to buy a new tablet. Nothing to talk about the iPad2, all good, but I hate to sync with Itune, and cant jail break ritenow.
So i m looking at some Android Tablet, and A500 is very good in my request such as: full USB port, HDMI....
But I read some review, and a lot of people told me A500 have a problem with Wifi connection, is it real? it can not connect to wifi if the router is far as 15ft Please give me the answer T_T
Another stuff is app. I used to read the Comic and Manga in my Android phone using Manga Watcher, is it have a version for Android 3.0??? Any1 testing it?
Are there some apps from 2.2-2.3 can use in 3.0 with full screen display?
If everything is good, i will buy A500, cause i love the usb port ^^ can plug the usb drive to it and transfer data fast ^^

So the a500 dont have any wifi problem? Cause i saw a lot of review in bestbuy about this problem

I never even considered a tablet before Iconia. If it ain't got usb it's nothing more than a useless toy for me.
As for iPad...
I use perfect viewer to read manga.
My wifi is good, I haven't had any problems but lets hear from others regarding wifi.
as far as my wifi experience, not as good as my Archos tablet, but better than my tablet/cellphones (HTC tytn ii, HTC raphael, LG expo)
Some reviews are legit, but others are just passing what they heard as fact/fanboys for other tabs, which all it does is make the a500 look bad for no reason
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
Wifi is good for me. Get the iconia insted of the "fantastical and magical new device".
I had to return my tablet because of the wifi. The problem wasn't poor reception on mine. It was because the tablet would not finish any large wifi transfers, and even some small ones like market apps gave it trouble.
I even waited for the update to be realeased and installed before returning the tab. Unfortunately that didn't help at all.
None of those issues are present with the unit I got as an exchange. And now I am happy as I can be with my a500.
Also I have had pretty good luck with apps. Only a few that I have tried don't work at all. Some will work but not in full screen. But most apps are just fine.
I've never owned an Apple anything so I can't speak to the differences. I do know that the a500 does most everything that I would want a tablet to do. GPS is a little wonky but there is a fix on the forums for that.
Good luck with whichever pad that you choose.
good wifi here
My netgear g/n router is located down in the middle of our basement where we have our wireless printer station set up.we have a very large lot that Liu home sits on.I can get two bars on wifi anywhere on my property.even way out back prob 300 or so feet.I have noticed. That even my neighbor that has a teenager thats friends with my son has same wifi router about 1/2 block away I see there network as well as others. Always two bars. So to me the wifi isssue is the notification people see is misleading. When I leave my home going down street it never looses the two bars just disconnects.
is this just me or has anyone else noticed this.I know I should try a 3rd party app to test but it works OK to me so not care much about the notification.

I've had not a single problem with my wifi, works great everywhere I go.
My galaxy also has a supposed wifi and GPS problem. I don't need to say how my friends can't use that one bar at all in places where I get none.
Only time I've had problems with my A500's WiFi was in a spot where even my Droid doesn't connect all the time. I've been able to connect at work to a hotspot 1/2 the building away (same floor).
so far, the wifi is good for most of people in xda so the last thing i want to ask is about watching HD movie, both of 720p and 1080p. My friend show me the clip in youtube that fully review about the A500, and it showed A500 have a problem to play HD movie.
Only can play HD movie with Rock Player but have some delay, others app such as Mobo can not play. Is there something wrong with Tegra2 in HD movie? Because my friend using Xoom have same problem?
Ah, sorry, and 1 more thing Can we use A500 like USB drive when connect with PC? Cause I really hate to sync using some software, just want drag and paste, thats all
I have no idea about in-browser HD. Could be android, could be flash, could be acer.
AFAIK tegra 2 was said to be HD capable so 3.1 might fix this.
The youtube app should display HD properly and most formats should just work.
For jerky formats like .mkv some players *might* do.
wifi is good in my iconia, but yeah, my desire has much better wifi receiver ...

Yes the Acer is recognized as an external drive when you connect it to the computer. No software needed, just drag & drop.

No problems at all with mine.
GPS connects within seconds and I've never had a WiFi connection that worked quicker!!
I can download around 2Mb/s even from using my phone as a portable WiFi hotspot.
Absolutely love the A500, been waiting for a decent Android pad for awhile and it's fianlly here.

The only two major issues with my iconia. Tap priority first
1. The stupid placement of notifications [should be lockable or on top]
2. The tablet should be a cute soft pink color. [Giggles or a nice skin made]
3. I am blonde so there should must be [number one ] recovery available
Recovery recovery recovery recovery recovery

tech addict wondering...

wondering how the transformer does video? i.e. netflix, youtube, flash, streaming, rather general but common video. does it do well and output to a hdtv well? i have an atrix with lapdock and it's great for what it is. light duty browsing and what not. what does suck is android is emulated inside webtop, and i keep running across the transformer and the dock and it keeps appealing to the part of my brain that says you need more cool toys. i like the dock idea, and asus saying that future transformers will be compatible with the dock. it's hard these days to hold and believe a corporations word on stuff like that, but i gotta admit, it seems like a better overall solution than atrix lapdock combo. anyways, it is eating away at me. i am contemplating returning the lapdock and getting the dock. but the other part of me is saying wait for a quad core/better dual core gpu solution and then get that and the dock. i have a very nice sager laptop that does everything of course. what i really like about the lapdock is it's more portable and has more "fun" built into it. i like playing emulators and surfing the web and reading a lot. when i don't need the light duty aspect of the dock, i can undock it and get comfortable. so how well does it output/mirror to a hdtv also? don't tell me what i want to hear please. tell me what i need to know. i am thinking i should return the lapdock and wait for asus' next upgraded transformer that will probably be more suitable for my light and entertainment needs.
with proper vid players, the TF can handle hi-profile 720p videos (check out dice player). with the latest update, the TF now supports netflix. however, netflix hasn't enabled their app officially for the TF, so you can't get it from the market...but you can easily find the app somewhere and side-load it. and yes it does work.
netflix doesn't stream the highest quality videos to the android app it seems, so it's not the greatest quality, i'd say quality is somewhere between tolerable and good. and you can output the video via hdmi.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
The transformer can mirror to a HDTV correct? Portrait and landscape? Sorry I am not researching a these details definitively on my own. I don't want to make an impulse buy. If I did buy this it would have to be a two year solution/toy to justify the expense. And I am not enticed by tablets that much until transformer blipped on my radar. I could impulsively buy it if I return my lapdock and only shell out ~$320 more but I just don't think tegra 2 could make a two year grind justifiably.
I voided my warranty.
you can view your movie on your tv using HDMI out.(except soft subtitles)
Netflix sometimes takes minute to buffer then it looks high quality. other HD videos look great too.
The only problem I've encountered so far with the HDMI out is that movies rented through Google's Android Market will not play properly. They play fine on the device itself, but the screen goes blank when hooked up to HDMI. It is unknown whether this is going to be fixed, as it could likely be a HDCP issue.

How good is the lapdock.

Thinking about getting the Atrix or bionic. I wanted to see how pleased people are with the dock? My plan is to use it as my work laptop. Most if my work is browser based, so my first concern is how does the browser compare to a laptop browser. I do know that it is based on firefox, but is it a full browser? Second is how do people handle printing. Thanks in advance.

Curious, why do you hate the atrix?
meh ...
If you can find the dock for $100 +/- I'd say give it a try. More than that, I'd recommend skipping it.
...I have the Atrix and love it
...I also got the dock for $340 and regret it.
When docked the response is very laggy and the touchpad is especially sluggish. The firefox experience is prone to pauses and stutters as well. I haven't tried any of the hacks to see if it improves the experience.
Oh ... and AT&T requires a tethering plan to use the dock via 3G.
---Rob
if you are rooted and running GB then you can use the lapdock without tethering pan like I do. I don't print from it so I can't say for sure about that. Lapdock is very thin and convenient and charges the phone while you are surfing. I use a small USB mouse (keychain) and leave the mini dongle in the USB port all the time. Works better than hotspot and laptop imho. You can also receive and send sms with the keyboard as well. I take Bluetooth calls while surfing and use apps like Netflix.....to me it's great. Not sure if you can print from USB mass storage though.

The touchpad can be adjusted in the settings so that it's not so slow..but otherwise invest in a Bluetooth mouse and you'll be good to go. I find the browsing to be very good actually..and considering most of the time I use it on 3g rather than wifi..it's still very fast (i've used sub $500 netbooks..and the browsing experience absolutely blows on them..unless you're used to Blackberry browsers )
I picked up an external hard drive and formated it to FAT32 and it works great..but I haven't tried a printer yet. I've got a e-printer that I use so no need for usb cables anymore anyways
The only time I really have noticed any lagginess is when i'm playing an emulator game full screen using my ps3 controller.
I think Atrix with Lapdock is really good. It can instead my pc to work with office software.
u can use openoffice for your daily office work.PPT/Word/Excel and so on.
i can plugin to the lapdock usb memorykey?
I too think ths Atrix and Lapdock combination works great for most people that use their laptops for Web stuff primarily. But even office stuff works great, specially after hacking the webtop so one can run Linux apps like OppenOffice and GIMP for example.
I spent $300 dollars on it and don't regret it. I know that's as much as an entry level laptop or average NetBook, but I really think its thinness and huge battery life more than justifies carrying it instead of my heavy and bulky 15" laptop.
Sent from my Atrix using Tapatalk
I too bought it for 300 dollars, but I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, the into experience it awesome, our at least the thought of it. I can run remote desktop for pretty much any pro gram I need. On the other hand, the performance is not add great as you would think. If more ram were allocated to the webtop mode, I think it would be much snappier, along with increased clock speed. I'm going to try using the 1.3ghz kernel later this weekend and see how much faster the dock is.
All that said, I still use it as my daily laptop for classes, and it works fine.

I got mine refurb for $180. I think it was a good deal.
Pros:
1. Wifi printing is great if you have a networked printer.
2. Firefox is pretty good with good addon support.
3. File browser is easier to use than the one on the phone.
4. Hackability.
5. Keyboard is pretty good.
6. Battery life is AWESOME.
7. Built in Citrix Receiver. This is super awesome if you use this for any kind of work. It's easier to use my lapdock than my home PC w/VPN.
8. USB mass storage support.
9. Very light and sleek.
10. Geek factor- I get all kinds of questions from people, "What is that? I didn't know Motorola made laptops. Oh, cool!" etc.
Wishes:
1. Keyboard isn't backlit.
2. I wish it had a camera passthrough to a bezel-mounted webcam.
Cons:
1. Touchpad and touchpad buttons BLOW. Get a mouse (bluetooth or USB).
2. Slow sometimes. Use an OC kernel and that helps.
3. Can't install stuff without hacking.
4. Firefox is the only real "app" on the webtop (see #3).

Hate the Astrix because of the email issue we have with it. Find the screen not as responsive as other phones and moto blur is the worst Android over lay of them all

It really depends on what you want to do. I have the ubuntu hack installed, use Citrix to remote access office pc, and got Gnumeric running great to substitute Excel. I'd say it's functional enough to really do some light work on it. For anything serious, I'd be silly to use webtop instead of my core i5 laptop, but I'd bring Atrix+Lapdock to Starbucks for its coolness and geekness
Quoting Scottyedmonds:
Hate the Astrix [sic] because of the email issue we have with it. Find the screen not as responsive as other phones and moto blur is the worst Android over lay of them all
What email issue would that be. I have a rather complicated email configuration that works well for me.
The Bell mobility Atrix had an issue where no email besides gmail was able to send mail. The Motorola blur was at times un responsive and it was easy to accidentally add your email twice and then not be able to send from either.
As for the speed post, the phone is just as fast as any other.
As for the part where I have no idea what I'm talking about? I sell hundreds of these devices every year, when a phone is crap, my customers come back with their problems! When you get to use whatever phone you want and have responsibility of advising people on which phone to sign a 3 year contract with, I might take your douche comment serious, but with that statement you obviously have no idea what you're talking about; don't bother reading my posts then buddy!

Tried OnLive!

It hit me yesterday, that On Live would be awesome on our Shields for people who don't have computers meeting the requirements for streaming games to their Shield.
So I just tried it, and it works pretty well but you need a fast wifi connection. I only tried a trial of Sonic Adventure DX, which not only was nostalgic but lagged a bit because my wifi stinks. I encourage you guys to give it a shot!
The controls worked without any form of mapping needed which is really nice.
its to bad onlive is dying so terribly lol
I just tried it also, Saints Row III works great! I used my Tmobile LTE hotspot, and surprisingly there is not lag at all. My main reasoning for purchasing the Shield was for Onlive/PSX Emulators..so far, so good!

I agree onlive is great with the shield.... the shield is awesome in general.... but I cant wait until the Nvidia Grid comes.... they claim to have mastered and conquered all issues that have plagued cloud gaming.... if this is true, this will another game changer for nvidia with the addition of the shield itself.
