Hello,
I had managed to set up a VPN connection with my Android Tablet using L2TP/IPSec previously. The initial problem was how the password was being sent over. This issue was fixed, but now I am faced with another problem.
When connecting, I get as far as #78: IPsec SA established {ESP=>0x04e19e67 <0x565562eb NATOA=0.0.0.0} and then nothing.
This does not happen when connecting from my laptop or iPhone, and I use the same credentials to connect using all 3. The Astaro box is Internet facing and is not NATed.
I have no confirmation of this, but seems like this issue should have creeped up around the time I got 3.1 pushed.
Here is the full log of the L2TP/IPSec connection:

As you can see, this is almost a fill hour after the initial connection request.
Does anybody have idea what is happening? I doubt Astaro is at fault since I am able to connect from other devices.
I should mention my deviced is rooted. The only change I made was to upload the wpa_supplicant file found on these forums to allow connections to ad-hoc networks, which are used for tethering.
Thank you for your time!
Hi,
I don't have an answer, but how are you logging all that data?
Logs are from the server, not the tablet.
Not 100% sure yet, but I may have a fix for the problem. I updated the Astaro Server 8.201 and it seems to have fixed the issue, although I have not had a chance to test it externally yet.
Either there was a problem with the way Astaro handled the L2TP/IPSec exchange and fixed it, or accommodated Android on how it handles it. I'll post back in a bit and let you know what I find.
Are you using cert based L2TP/IPsec or PSK? I've been able to get PSK to work quite straightforwardly, but I'm still struggling with cert based.

unfortunately im not that skilled in linux/android to know what exactly the issue could be, but i guess the set ISCAN failed and the Unknown private command, are the things causing it to stop. the ISCAN failed line goes without end if i dont disable wifi than, i got the dmesg dump by rebooting the phone with turned off wifi, than after all loaded i connected the phone over adb, turned wifi on and did dmesg to file. if anyone would like the whole file (its unbelievably 26 pages long wtf?) pm me.
thanks for the time guys

I recently re-acquired a usb-to-lan adapter, since my previous one broke after few months of usage.
The new one shows a red light when it's connected to the router via LAN and the tablet via USB. Furthermore dmesg shows me the USB OTG device is successful recognized. So the adapter is OK, but the internet connection is not started.
I noticed that I have no ethernet options in my Settings. I don't remember where they was located, but I remember that there was some settings about LAN and I was able to see LAN usage data separately from wifi usage.
From the day my first usb-to-lan adapter died and now, I upgraded 10.2 to 11 and returned back to 10.2, since I had some problems with startup delay and GPS icon. But if I remember well I used Cyanogenmod 10.2 with the first usb-to-lan adapter, and not CM 11. I have gapps installed.
up.
i know CarbonRom supports Ethernet android 4.4.4
but i dont know about CM

The previous adapter worked and it was apparently identical. Is there a way to do some deeper debug, to understand the exact problem?
Hi,
I try to connect my samsung wifi matisse 10.1, with the last ROM BlissPop installed, to an existing (and confirmed that works well) ad-hoc wifi. I don't want to make a hotspot from the tablet: this feature works perfectly. The system identifies the network as ad-hoc and asks for the WEP (128 ASCII) pass ... but after several times disconnects. This is the logcat from adb:

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
are you sure you entered the ascii passphrase and not the hexed one? please try to connect to an open or wpa protected adhoc network.

Yes, I used the ascii password ... but you can see in this picture (Opss sorry, I cannot input outside links) that the input of the passphrase is not clear ... I wanted to understand what type of passphrasse I must write in the inputtext Password when the wifi manager asks for it. In the other hand, I try to make this connection without password and with a WPA2 security ... the problem persist.
Thanks a lot by your answer ...

i dont my tab atm, so i can not make some tests, but i remember an option in wpa_supplicant.conf - something about p2p_disabled or similar, maybe you can compare the conf with a wpa_supplicant.conf of a device which is connecting to adhocs.
is there a log of the adhoc hosting device?
btw. images can be uploaded as attachments.
I have the attached file dnsfailhistory.log I found in /data/data/com.android.phone, owner/group is radio 1001, permission rw- --- --- 600,
I am experiencing quite slow internet, it seems that especially the first part of page loading (DNS lookup?) is slow.
So I found these log files in /data/data/com.android.phone with those strange hostnames (mostly repeating sequences of random letters, but I found few legitimate urls look-a-likes
Code:
2018-03-03 09:26:46 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: ntzxictadai DNS server addr: 1.1.1.1 iface: wlan0 isWifiConnected: true
2018-03-03 09:26:46 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: stjgctsxks DNS server addr: 1.1.1.1 iface: wlan0 isWifiConnected: true
2018-03-03 09:26:54 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: ntzxictadai DNS server addr: 1.1.1.1 iface: wlan0 isWifiConnected: true
2018-03-03 09:26:54 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: stjgctsxks DNS server addr: 1.1.1.1 iface: wlan0 isWifiConnected: true
2018-03-03 09:26:54 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: kgrbcnjpmek DNS server addr: 1.1.1.1 iface: wlan0 isWifiConnected: true
2018-02-08 07:53:42 [LGDataRecovery] hostname: 2.android.pool.ntp.org DNS server addr: iface: isWifiConnected: true
What is LGDataRecovery? What are those strange hostnames? Why is DNS same to my router specified IP address 1.1.1.1 and not router DNS 8.8.8.8?
