Moving on thank-you for your help - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Well guys I got rid of my hd2 and now got a dhd which yes its really good but... and this is a big but.
I miss my hd2 so easy to root re rom etc where as dhd its all plug in then open this open that type this then that. Easy to do on hd2.
Just wanted to say thank u for all your advice and help over the past year with the hd2 I will be popping in from time to time as I will be still around just moving to dhd forum.

Laters I sold mine and got a desire s. My wife has it now and I bought another hd2 lol

loads of people seem to have sold hd2 but say like a month later they have a hd2 in there hand.. hd2 cannot be beaten untill evo 3d is here... MAYBE

I actually kept my HD2 until now... Been running a Galaxy S2 for a month or so. Still love my HD2. Best phone I've EVER owned.

Don't want the evo 3d, don't see the point of the 3d bit really, I'm holding out for a 1.5 dual core with even more RAM

I'm not actually going for it because of 3d i just like the look of the device its self, still got till next august on me contract so hopefully a better one will appear by then as you said a 1.5 dual core would be nice

I only got rid as I cocked the screen up. Looked at the lg 3d but it should come with free headache pills that's why I went for a dhd build quality like hd2 and same feel. I would have a hd2again dhd is just a hd2 with a 8mp camera really. Oh and dhd runs android native not wm6.5.
So guys I will be seeing you in the following months when I get one back LOL LOL

Buh bye now.

Bye guys.
I came to android world by having a tytn 2 which I enjoyed alot, haret-ed my ass oof, tried alot of roms back then.
I became so obsessed with android, I received a wildfire for my birthday. At first it seemed an upgrade, but then I've seen what means to have a cpu without a gpu struggling even to animate simple 2d stuff.
So, here we are, three months later and I cooked this idea I want a new phone with android. So I've gone with HD2 to be able to switch back to wm if I ever needed it at any time.
So here's my advice:
If it's your kids/girlfriends phone, leave it as is. If it's your phone and you are sick of it and it doesn't meet your expectations, sell it while it's sparkling new, to be able to get as much money off it, add some quids and get a real phone.
I will be less active on this wildfire subform, so I wish you happy buzzing days to come.

sorry to hear that. However, although HD2 is not the latest phone, I would love having an HD2 because you can have dual boot with Windows Phone 7 and Android, as well as WM.
Enjoy. At least you stay on android!

You could always stay on wildfire and hd2 like i do withthe tab and wildfire (from a dev prospective the wildfire is better - no kies or odin or rfs nonsense)

OMG the wildfire is a fake phone!!!
If it's not a real phone then what it's it? It's still a smartphone, just not a media oriented smartphone.please don't diss a phone just because it doesn't meet your expectations.
Yeah, there are better smartphones out there, with more bang for your buck and, hell, I'd love one, but I don't really need them.

Mytouch 4g vs. HD2?/Thinking of swtiching

i currently have the mytouch 4g and was thinking about the HD2.
i love the mytouch for the ffc
i love the HD2 for the BIGGER SCREEN
what are your guys opinion...
HD2 with Windows is a complete failure. If it has Android put on it then it's fine, but 50% more RAM and 4G speeds in the Mytouch would make it an easy decision. If I didn't live in a 4G area then the answer would be a little bit harder but the RAM difference is still significant.

having owned both phones, Ill chime in
yes I agree, WinMo 6.5 sucks...android is where its at. buts also a plus for the HD2 that you can dual boot windows and android. the HD2 does have a bigger screen, but doesnt look as good as the mytouch. HD2 isnt capable of 4G speeds like the mytouch, and also has less RAM. the FFC isnt a big deal for me as I hardly use it, but some people use it on a daily basis to video chat. really, IMO, the only thing I miss about the HD2 was the big screen and thats about it definitely stick with the 4G...
Ok here's one more add in.
The hd2 is for 120$ used.... Good deal or just save my money ??

do you have any pics for it?? I paid $200 for a mint HD2 a few months ago, but now I see them selling on XDA and CList anywhere from $120-$280. if the condition of the phone is 8+/10, I would say grab it. I loved the HD2 as my toy phone, and if something ever happens with your mytouch(lots of bad eMMC errors going around lately) you have an awesome phone to go back to

I would wait if I were you, you can easily get a 9+/10 condition HD2 for $150-$175. also look for the US t-mobile HD2 as it has more ROM space compared the the EUR version (1GB>512MB)

but there are 2 different types of HD2/Leo. the EUR version has 512mb ROM while the US version has 1gb ROM. they both look exactly the same, except the US version has the T-Mobile logo on the front
I have both a MT4G and a HD2. I absolutely love my HD2 I'm running motorman's ROM so it looks and feels exactly like my MyTouch 4G*. The larger screen is really wonderful and not having the really badly placed power button on the top is great!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919853
I would use it all the time but the lack of UMA/WiFi calling forces me back to the MT4G on occasion.
Note: The HD2 also lacks 4g but that's a who cares since there's little 4g in my area.
*Follow the link and you'll see it's really very easy to install a NAND on the HD2 but download and save the stock software from T-Mo's website first so you can always go back to stock if you want to do so, it takes very little time. You can also set up a dual boot but I've found that less than reliable.

how is the HD recording on the HD2?
better or the same as the MyTouch4g?

How i wish

In this day and age of the smart phone world, are we going to ever see another phone close to what the hd2 is and can run?
i mean months ago my hd2 was running android better than how the samsung vibrant is running android now!
Wouldn't it be amazing if they made an HTC HD2s with updated specs?
i mean htc can seriously take advantage of this phone, hd2 can still stand next to any phone htc has put out after......and dammmit its been years! lol
so my next htc must be something as revolutionary and game changing as the hd2...but sadly there might never be one.
Well alot people didnt really expect the hd2 to do what it did, it just kind of happened, and the dev support behind it is unheard of.
But to answer your question, there wont be another king leo

New phone!

Well ladys and gentlemen the time has come. My brand new HTC sensationXE arrived today so my little wildfire will be moving into retirement this has been such a great forum to me through all the noob moments, teaching me all I now know and forever cementing my love for android! Although i won't be leaving this forum ( don't think I could) most of my time will be over at the sensation forums. Just wanted to say a special thanks to scratch and slymobi for their help with the sim lock thread, Arco for the cm7 Rom, the misses for the best valentines preset ever and of course everyone else who committed to this forum! 3 reasons ive been put off htc one.
1: Bootloader unlocked by htcdev? Dunno if there's an alternative yet, i haven't looked so there might be but if there isn't its definitely a no for me. I want full s-off not just a little bit of it.
2: No sd card, yes i know music and pictures load faster on internal memory but i want the choice of where i want to put things and the ability to expand when i fill it with all my failed mods!
3: Not able to remove the battery? Well thats just a silly idea unless the battery will last forever with seriously heavy usage, bare in mind i most days struggle to get 5 hours from my wildfire and have to take a spare battery everywhere.
Other than that the screen looks sh*thot but sadly not for me.........

1) well, i only modded wildfire because it was slow by default. i persume, a 1.5 dual core snapdragon s4 will do the trick. sp, maybe i wont even root it. if i do its gonna be when my warranty expires because im paying the full price for it.
2) i manage with 2gb sd card on my wildfire which is still half empty, i even have 512 mb ext... so thats about 1.2-1.3 gb pf usable space (you know memory is smaller than whats stated 2 gb ~ 1,8 gb) so thatll be fine, im not a smartphone gamer either so one memory hog less (im more of a playstation kinda guy)
3. battery can always be managed, i use my wildfire pretty much all the time on my almost 2 year old battery and i get day, day and a half of battery life, more when i use it less .
all in all, looks like one s is the one ive been waiting for
Perfect for you then, it really is an awesome phone, i managed to get my hands on one the other day for half hour, the screen looks amazing and its lightning fast after using a buzz for so long but for those reasons above i can't get one and am thinking/dreaming of an s3 if they'll give me one!

If you are looking for Proper Unlocked bootloaders and Dev Support, Samsung is not much better off from what I have seen so far. Apparently, everything is "hacky and dirty". There is no proper recovery partition, so even a CWM recovery has to be integrated into the kernel. You cant flash a recovery by itself. Also, no things like Fastboot. You have to depend on Samsung softwares like Odin.
Also, Samsung's coding is terrible from what the dev's have been saying. They use unstandardized coding techniques, and its a pain to reproduce the same features on AOSP / Other ROMs. The Galaxy S2 did not get a build of AOSP ICS till a leaked official GS2 ROM was out.
I agree on Point 2 and 3 though. They are great exit tools for when you mess up your phone. Think about it, when you experience a bootloop, what is the 1st thing that comes on your mind? A battery pull, obviously.
BTW, Dump the S3 and get the S2. With the price drop after the S3 was announced, this phone is now terrific VFM. Still nothing that can't be run on this device.

You are kidding, right?
J/k, anyway, excellent choice. I prefer the One S myself over the One X.
Thanks for the info 3, i hadn't really read much about Samsung coding either to tell the truth just saw the amount of dev support you guys have over there and presumed it must be slightly better, I know i'd probably love an sgs 2 coming from here but if the 3 ends up with as much support for it do i really want to be stuck in a 2 year contract and miss out on all the fun with a 2 knowing there's a 3 out there, just out of reach.
Decisions decisions............... Still my carrier might not give me one though so may be forced into a sgs2.

should i buy this phone .....guys
so far.
well ive had the phone for a few days and i have to say im loving it
the screen is sexy and silky smooth, and not to mention big enough ^^ from opening it it took me 7 minutes to s-off with revolutionary ive gotta say touch recoverys rock!!! they are themeable and everything, 4ext for the win lol
i have made the jump to ics in the form of the android revolution HD rom by mike1986 im missing the boot into recovery option from the the power off menu, but im hoping to find a work around for that being able to unlock with my face alone is epic and the download speeds im getting from giffgaff is very nice.
im very very pleased with this device atm and i would highly recommend it. and if **** hits the fan, you can always battery pull!
Good luck with your new phone
IMO the GS3 is terrible. All the fancy software is useless because I'll put CM9 on it as Touchwiz is absolutely disgusting. Their coding is terrible as 3xeno said and the UI is worse than Cupcake. The specs are mediocre, the AT&T One X's S4 chipset is better IMO. The screen is also mediocre, they made it 0.8 of an inch bigger than the One X to show off. And the rumours were so off, especially the 1080p screen. The nature lockscreen is a cool idea but the ripple effect is just too much time, especially when you just want to unlock the phone quickly and make a call.

I'll bet you on rooting it After I changed to samsung from htc first thing I did is ROOT it. Still have the old dog, gave it to my girlfriend and because it was my first android I'm gonna keep it in the family
Good Luck with u're new Sensation XE ! It's a brilliant phone..

WOW Such development still going on XD

I'd just like to say WOW - I had a HTC Hero GSM (G2 touch i guess as I am from the uk and it was on tmo ) I've now got a desire, but you know what I actually miss the hero, it was my little Hero - I had it running faster (appearance - not clock speed) than the wildfire and the wildfire S (I used to tease my mates about it LOADS) I loved that little thing. Ok so I like the desire, its got better hardware yes, but I really dont care, and I'm glad we are getting ICS going on it, but at the end of the day its just a phone now. My ikkle Hero was never just a phone to me it was a HERO
Anyway I just decided to pop my head in and see if any1 was still developing for it, and wow am I surprised! it's got loads of people still keeping that awesome phone going! my congrats to the devs too for starting to look at ICS for the Hero! and to everyone else who it keeping it going.... I am impressed, and wish I had never given the hero to my g/f (now ex who bloody sold it for £50 -____- ).
I guess this thread has no real purpose... I just wanted to say well done people, and dont put your Hero down coz others have "better" phones, its all perspective. For the hardware the Hero has, it does so so sooooooo well.
Over and out
One Up for that
Some weeks ago my Desire just broke and I had to switch back to my old Hero.
I allways was interested in CustomRoms but never switched because I didnt wanted to lose warranty. But with the Hero already being out of warranty I started trying out Roms
Just great what the community is able to do with that hardware. So much better than the manufacturers rom. Current, faster and more functions build in.
If my desire wouldnt be repaired I would happily stay with the Hero.
But now I think I will give it to my g/f
regards
st
Well, I'm also back for a while only phone ever w/h (major) problems... though I miss the performance and size of my HOX..
