Bricked Mytouch 4g.. dunno how (not rooted) - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i got a unrooted mt4G that
-when connecting via USB/Charger, doesnt charge (no light top left),
-computer doesnt recognize tflash or phone
-dim red light in keypad goes on
-power button does nothing (screen doesnt come on)
-power and low vol key also does nothing
-water indicators in the batt compartment are white.
-condition of phone is 9.5/10 (there are no knick marks anywhere, screen isnt cracked)
i have no idea what my friend did to it but i am sure it was stock.
is there anything that can be done?

Let's start with simple things first:
Maybe your charger unit is shot?
Try a different micro USB charger, at least if you see the amber light @ top left of the phone you know it's your charger. If not, try this:
Pull the battery, sim card and micro SD card out of the phone.
Make sure there is no charge cable connected to it.
Now hold the power button for about 5 seconds.
Put it all together, see if the phone is charging from the power - if so, attempt to reboot after a few minutes of charge, with charge cable in

Notification LED red.....MDA dead

Help....seems that my Magician is dead....making a long phone call (1 h) after call end, display switch off and Notification led become fix Blue (bluethoot was off) and then i try to hard reset. Led switch off and no results. I try then to put the power supply cable and the led become RED.... !!! (neve seen red.....) pda is not switching on anymore...any details on the reason of this RED light ???....please.....
thanks in advance
Red LED means the battery isn't connected or the device can't charge.
Try taking the battery out for a few hours and try to switch the device on again.
My brother in-law had the red LED issue too, we solved it by 'kick starting' the battery with two wires and a 9v battery. (At your own risk of course).
Good luck!

Red Led doesn't mean that the battery is not connect with the device. It simply means the cover is not properly intact. Try taking out the battery off the device, put it back in the slot. Place the cover carefully and completely. And then connect the device to AC power supply. It would definitely come *alive*
still dead....grrrr
so cover is ok...it seems to be properly fixed, even the smal swithch that create some unwanted crash few months ago is now working properly...
i made a 1 h long phone call with battery and charger (usb from pc) and after line felt down, bluetooth led blue on (was off) and screen with phone but no changement by touching it. so switch off by power off and ...dead...now without battery but with charger (or usb from PC) RED led on. With batttery AND charger RED on, and with battery all dead. i cannot reset anyhow with or without battery /charger....need it...sh*t.....(ops...sorry)
thanks a lot anyway....

what I will suggest is, you should get a new battery instead!!
Got the same problem now!
Both my wife and me got a Magician. Hers is dead now - same symptoms.
First guess was dead battery as well. But I exchanged it with mine fully loaded. No difference!
Usually when you plug the powercord into the device orange flashes up and device boots. Here nothing happens.
I'll have some electrician have a look at both. Maybe he can find the fault by comparison. But I don't expect a lucky outcome.
on back side of ur device when u remove the battery cover, u see a small black switch on the right side just next to the battery.
put the device on charge..with cover off---it will show red light contunuously on.
now manually press gently that black switch and see if ur device starts to charge.
if u see a yellow light any point of time doing this u may have to get this little switch repaired or do a temporary work urself by kepping it at place manually bu something.
try and tell
Now it works!
I think we all knew about that little switch. But thanks for your thoughts.
Anyway, hers is running again!
Two days ago I took it fully apart. No obvious fault noticeable. I left it the way it was now to prepare it for shipping. Today my wife asked me I should try it just once again. So I held the battery on the connector and plugged the USB cable and then: it booted!
But the internal battery doesn't seem to recover. It stays at 0% (1h "charging" since then).
I have to correct myself: Even the internal battery is charging (but it takes its time).
my magician is also dead and just the red LED is burning when i put it in the USB! Can anybody help me?
Still ned solution!
Can some one who was having the same problem help?
your device battery detector switch(little switch) is broken or logged-out of Main Board.
when it broken, the red LED is on at all.
it is the greatest weakness of magician...

any one with the same problem!????
or any one having solution!
REGARDS
I'm gettingn red led light too when charging from wall outlet. Charging from usb is fine. a weird thing is when my battery came down to 50%, imate jam will shut down and won't successfully reboot. some people from this form mentioned it's an indicator that the battery is dying.

I need help really bad!!

Sorry for the bad english.
I had my xperia for like 2 weeks now and last night i plug the usb from the
computer to my phone and my phone just completely shuts off. there is a red
light once in a while when its being charged. i charged it for 6 hours now and
it still won't turn on!??! Somehow my phone vibrates ones every two minutes
when it is off or being charged...have and idea??
are you still charging from the computer or the wall outlet. if not doing so already, i recommend that you charge from the wall outlet instead of the computers usb.
it may take a while before the red light goes out. turn off the phone and recharge it overnight.
i'm charging it from the wall outlet. The red light doesnt turn on anymore.
and still i can't turn on my phone.
1. Remove the battery cover.
2. Remove the stylus.
3. Use your stylus to press in the small RESET hole which is along the slot where you just took your stylus out of. you will feel something click in as you press it, like a hidden button.
if that does't help, take out the battery and put it back in after a second or two or three. hehe.
then connect it to the wall charger.
I had this problem a few days ago... it didn't switch on even after a whole night's charge
you just have take the battery out, then put the usb cable in, then put the battery in... you'll notice the red light doesn't flash anymore... BUT!! don't try to switch on... i'd leave it for around 1 minute, before switching it back on. if you just leave it; the red light will start flashing again
WB,
Joel
I tried all of the following and it still doesnt work.
i put the usb cable in and it pops up the red light and my computer says it doesnt recognize the device. and my phone vibrates happends every 1 min or so..
but it still won't turn on
no, plug the usb cable directly into the power point. it's useless using a computer to charge the phone anyway, it doesn't supply enough power. just keep trying different combinations... mine ended up working after what i said before, although i did use the car charger in may car as after the charge in the night didn't work.
1 - take out battery
2 - insert usb cable to phone and power point
3 - insert battery
4 - wait 30 secs to 1 minute
5 - press power button for like 4 secs...
man this sucks i did that too and its still not working...
hmm i don't know what happen to it. it was still full battery when it suddenly
shuts down. could it be the battery?
tried manually booting SPL??? hold volume down button and press power and keep holding for 3-4 seconds..... see if that works
i did that too still no sign.
i know its not dead cause when charge it the phone vibrates every 1 min or so
and it stops after maybe 5 mins
I have problems with charging my X1 with my PC.
My X1 only charges when my PC is turned on, with my Elf (HTC Touch) it charges also when my PC was turned off.
So I thought X1 would charge too, when my PC is turned off.
But it seems it drains the battery out of my X1 :-s
So next morning, my X1's battery was empty (after 3 hrs charging on USB => then it was full, and let it connected with my pc in the night, when pc is turned off.
It was quite frustrating for me, but I really don't know why this happens to X1 and not with my Elf.
try taking out the battery, wait 5 mins, re- insert it.
Then start charging via wall socket. wait 5 mins again and then breifly press the power button, should vibrate once then turn on.

Flashing red led of death

Hi everyone, yesterday I took my G1 from my pocket (after using it normally for some hours) and it was turned off. I thought the battery was dead (I left it at about 20% charge) so I tried to turn it back on and surprise...no vital signs at all. The phone didn't turn on, and the led was dead. After losing half of my hair, I tried removing the battery and placing it back. Now the phone behaves like this; when I press the power button, as long as I keep it pressed the led flashes red and that's it. When I stop pressing the power button the led stops flashing. When I plug the usb cable, the led gives a solid red and stays like that forever.
Please someone tell me it's just a screwed up battery...please

Probably bad battery. It is certainly worth it to at least try another battery -- they're dirt cheap anyways, or better yet, BORROW one.
* Solid green (when connected to the power adapter): The battery is fully charged.
* Solid red (when connected to the power adapter): The battery is charging.
* Flashing red: The battery is low and needs to be charged.
* Flashing green: There is a new notification.

Leave it to charge for 30 minutes or so, then try to power on. should be okay
better to charge from ac power if u can
Its possible your charger could be faulty.
I have the same problem, has anyone found a solution?
Try leaving it charge for a good hour, or just go out and try a new battery, could just be dead.
Sent from my Xoom
sometimes if a battery gets to low it wont even charge... not just for phones but cameras too and so on..... iv had to do this to cell phones and cameras.... take a usb cord you dont care about and cut it and expose the red and black wires..... look for the positive on your battery and negative, usually its marked, how positive to positive and negative to negative for 30 seconds to a minute while its plugged into the computer then, pop the battery back into the phone and try to charge..... everytime iv had to do this for a freind or something of my own the battery has lasted over a year after with no problems.... just a suggestion
Thanks for the suggestions. I had already ordered a new battery and the phone boots up with it but it won't charge on or off and usb isn't recognized either. I tried wiggling the plug around to see if it was some kind of loose connection but it doesn't appear to be the case. I may take the phone apart and see if anything is loose but otherwise I'll just have to enjoy the last 30% battery of G1 time I have.

[Q] Please help Droid X won't turn on when pressing power buttom

I turned my DX off for a few minutes and now I am unable to turn it back on. I hold the power button and the screen remains black, no M logo no boot, no green LED light, no activity of any kind, just a black screen.
Battery was at 100% when I turned it off ( 20 minutes ago)
GB leak rooted working fine
Tried: Pulling battery, holding power and home buttons then the camera, volume down and power buttons with no response of any kind.
Please help.
Hold down both volume keys power and home key until you see a brief flash, then let go, can you get the bootloader screen to show up? Have you pulled the battery?
It did not work.
I pulled the battery and left out for a few minutes with no results.
I also remember that before this thing happened when I pulled the battery and plug in the wall charger the screen would show a battery icon with a question mark, now I got nothing but the black screen.
The only response that I have noticed when trying your tip is that without the battery when i plug in the charger the green led blinks once.
I am starting to feel that this is hardware related.
Keep the battery out. Plug in the WALL charger, not through USB. (yes, I know it's a USB cable that goes into a converter to use an electrical outlet; the point is, hook it up to an actual electrical outlet)
If you don't get the big battery indicator for charging coming on the screen, hit power once. Still not, hold power down a solid 5 seconds. If still no go, then you have a hardware problem. Also, try using a different USB cable just in case if this doesn't work.

I just tried your instructions by the letter and on top of that I also used a straight (non USB) charger. No response.
I have a dead fish that is going back to the store.
thanks for your help

Completely discharged battery?

What we had:
Nexus 4. with cracked digitizier, but finely working. (except the battery, which lasted less than it should) i tried to remove glass, of course with no luck. Ended with no image on lcd. but phone worked fine, charged, connected to pc, played sounds, etc.
2 weeks of waiting for new lcd. I didn't charge it all that time. (my bad)
So after replacement, i tried to power on, aand it didn't show any signs of life. Put it on charge, red led blinked once when i connected usb. (there was no red led any time after "first charge")
So now:
When i power it on without charge it gives one short vibration. No led or image.
When i put it on charge no reaction at all, but when i hold power button it gives the same vibration and if i hold it for 8-10 seconds more the red led blinks. It stops blinking only when i release power. Also, when the red led blinks, strange repeated noise comes from charger.
Also, i'm not sure about lcd, but it should be fine. No reaction from pc, also.
Your ideas? Hoping it's not the motherboard fault

Take the back off again, unplug the battery and replug it. Then try to boot/charge (you can do this without replacing the back, in case you want to try again). If this doesn't work, you may need a new battery. Most likely the battery itself is fine, but maybe the connector ribbon was damaged.
