[Q] USB 2.0 connection won't work with anything - GT540 Optimus General

Hi everyone,
So I tried to use SwiftBootloaderBuilder to re-partition my phone but for some reason it didn't work at all so I tried emergency mode and tried to flash with KDZ updater. I also tried fastboot to flash but it did not work. In any instance of trying to use the USB since, my computer has reported that the device could not start up. I've tried it on another computer and the issue remains the same. The phone still works perfectly including recovery mode but when I connect the USB, the top bar keeps popping up USB connected and disappearing and reappearing constantly.
I believe there's a problem with the USB because fastboot, recovery, and even CM7 won't work with the USB connected.
**I've gotten it to work with a USB 3.0 connection and was able to reflash everything but it still doesn't work at all for USB 2.0.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks

Wipe and flash?
You could wipe your data then flash the latest ROM. Be sure to back it up though After flashing, your could restore your data partition or your applications via your favorite backup app.

Also, the issue is with the USB ports. I had a similar issue apart from devices would disconnect when transferring a considerable amount of data over USB. I fixed it by going into Device Manager and uninstalling all of the 'root hub/usb controller' devices in the USB Controllers section.

URGENT, unable to connect phone to PC

I wanted to flash XXKPE so I backed up with TiB and connected phone in Mass Storage mode but the phone is not recognised. There is no sound of new device being connected. The phone charges but does not mount. Till a few days back everything was okay but suddenly this problem. Please advice.
Edit : I tried different cables and problem not resolved. Also connected Wave2 phone and it connects, so something in the phone. I feel the Legend-X theme which gives a sound message "Recharge Enabled" when I connect is somehow responsible.
I don't know if it will be useful but I would try to download Samsung Kies and reinstall drivers with it.
@jesrani
did you here a sound when you connect the phone to the computer ???
(a found new hardware sound in windows)

Maybe I can try but not sure if this is the problem. Normally when a device is connected, Windows makes a sound indication a new connection and then loads the drivers. In this case there is no sound but the mobile charges and also the cable works for other mobile.

the charge will work because of the voltage from the USB
have you tried enabling/disabling the USB debugging Mode
I do not have any problem with it dude. This fw is stable among previous releases of gb but results are different on different devices. For instance.after flashing 8 -10 times, I could not root it the way others are rooting the phone. I had to use an agree flashing the cwm. Done ppl have kernel panic making it un usable. I donot have single kernel panic. So its not theme,.may be something else. May be others who are using the theme can opine.

You are right, it was not the theme, but don't know what was the problem. Probably the cable. Resolved by itself. Now flashed KPE and in process of setting up, can't wait to install your theme on this.

issue mounting sd

i seem to have a problem with mounting the internal storage on the phone, it doesnt ask me to mount when i plug the phone in like it normally would so i tried mounting through recovery but still cant do it through there, tried 3 different roms and all the same issue, are there any kernels with this issue? im running newest nscollab with the kernel it comes with...not sure what to do
are you running the latest recovery? can you use the storage space with apps on the phone?
I have been having the exact same problems. Nothing seems to work. Can't mount through CW and I have the most recent version. Randomly it started to work again by turning the phone off. Plugging phone into computer. Turning phone back on. It would recognize it until now. Now that doesn't work....
I am using Mac and Linux and neither one need drivers so that has nothing to do with it.
I'm screwed if I have to take the phone in for warranty work because I am rooted.
Anyone come up with something to fix this?
Or is there a way to "force it to mount?"
Its really f'in annoying

So it's showing the storage on the phone and not on the computer, correct?
Can you select to mount the USB when you plug it in?
Does the device show up in the System Profiler app in Mac OS X?

That is incorrect. It does not show up on the phone. When it shows up on the phone it mounts to the computer. It is not even recognizing it on the phone now. For awhile it was working and now its not again. Haven't done anything else to the phone.
When it doesn't show up on my phone it is not recognized by the system profiler.
Never had a problem with any other android device except on my epic 4g when I tried running the miui beta for it. But it would still mount in clockwork.
It is not the cable because I have four different cables. One of which works flawlessly on my epic. Which had a lot of problems when using the stock cable.
Is this hardware related or is it because of the rooting process?
What r some possible fixes if any?
I really would not mind going back to stock and starting over. But the only way to get back to stock is by USB. And nothing recognizes it. Adb. Fastboot. Odin (heimdall in Mac terms) nothing recognized it

okay, I had this issue when the nexus s 4g was first released and the first roms/recoveries came out. I would just start over. backup using titanium backup and flash the stock files in fastboot, then unlock again, flash the recoveries, etc.
How exactly would I revert to stock if commands from my computer in fastboot do not recognize the device?

Try es file explorer and give root access ... this was u can atleast access files from your phone...
PROBLEM SOLVED... at least for me
Found out when flashing to a stock rom (currently running MIUI) that my usb port on my phone is loose. Just have to be careful with it. Makes sense that it was randomly happening.
With MIUI it wouldn't show right away because I had it set to auto-mount. But when i flashed the stock rom. The pop-up to mount-sd would show up and go away show up and go away....
Darn.

No OS Installed, Can't Sideload (USB Not Working)

I tried to install a new font with Font Installer, as it had worked in the past, but my phone then got stuck in a boot loop. I had already gotten rid of my backup after I found out that PA wasn't going to be updated until 4.4, so I thought there was no need for a Nandroid until then. I do not seem to have any PA ROM .zip's on my phone anymore.
A couple weeks ago, my usb port stopped working and everytime I try to plug something into the port, it begin to heat up and there is a burning smell. So I cannot transfer anything through usb.
So I made a factory reset and then wiped the system and now when I try to reboot, TWRP says "No OS Installed." When I proceed and the phone reboots, I am stuck on the screen with "Google."
Is there any way I can fix this?

First of all it is a good lesson why you always have to keep a nandroid backup.
Ia the USB on your PC is the problem? Can't you go to other PC and transfer a zip to your nexus?
I guess that USB is the only way.. You obviously can't use WiFi or bluetooth. Find a PC and do it.
Good luck.

You're right about that.
No, the usb on my N4 is the problem. Plugging any usb cable into the port doesn't work. No computer can recognize the device and the device is unable to charge through usb either.
I'm very sorry and it's painful to say but I can't think of any solution.. Maybe only to fix your USB port..

Nexus 4 lost computer USB data connection ability

at some point in the last 6 months or so, my phone lost the ability to connect to my computer- I've tested by uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers on my computer, using virtual drivers, etc. Everything I could- I even tested on other computers that it has worked on in the past. Nothing helps.
I then decided it must be on my phones end, so I went so far as to replace the USB connection board inside my phone and that doesnt even work.
I used to have my phone rooted, but that was lost at some point over a couple OTA updates-- Is there anyway I can restore root access on my device without using a USB connection, or does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the connection issue?
Thanks!
Did you check the cable?

Multiple cables as well. I'd do that before replacing the board!

Try the following
1)Boot into booloader and check in device manager if the phone is detected if so then go flash-all.bat 4.4.3( will wipe your phone, new phone factory)

Well,in that case...i don't know.Maybe you should go to a specialist.
Look for flashify, a app can flash recovery, once you have recovery, you can have root.

Flashify requires root access
do you have a kernel with fast charge enabled? that disables PC data connection

please answer below question
1. what os use on your PC ?
2. do you install others driver beside google adb and fastboot?
3. what version of adb and fastboot you have if you have installed before
4. you said you have OTA udpate from gogole or form the ROM developer?
note:
you need to install latest adb and fastboot. latest version is .31
if you have other 2 or more driver installed before, it may crash or mis regonice the phone, like samsung and google driver for Galaxy nexus which i facing.
some help form external web here
I have same problem, i tried even on linux. What is worst i removed rom from sdcard and now my current rom crashed. When i try to pull new rom via adb, new file is created but is "empty". Usb otg doesn't work in recovery ;/
I am seeing the same thing also. I even bought a USB replacement part on ebay and installed it. The PC still doesn't see the device.

n910w8 twrp bootloop.

hey guys not sure if this is the right place for this but i was wondering if someone can hlep me out.
in an attempt to trouble shoot why i had no connectivity i reflashed the phone. sys data cache and all. dont remember what i tried to update, but the phone reboot into twrp and now is stuck in a twrp bootloop. i can get into download mode... but my pc cant see the device. i tried to install adb and the drivers... but the device still wont pick up. i dont know how to skip the twrp update to get into the OS.

First thing I'd do is remove the ADB drivers. Install kies is the simplest way to have proper drivers. You must put this fw on by Odin so if your phone doesn't connect in download mode, that's your issue.
Connect Odin
Flash new fw
Flash rom

no kidding. it has to be a normal usb 2 cable a none powered usb port.
i was using the original fast charge usb cable, clearly that was a mistake.
anywho its at 6% hopefully this goes through and i can initialize the device.

i tried a variety of things and i cant seem to get thing to get service.
