I think this means you are allowed to carry your mobile into social events and not get charged for it!
but seriously, its probably you can access twitter, facebook, myspace etc for no charge?
i know that, but is it for the official app, friend stream ?

I can only assume that they look for facebook etc in the addresses that are being visited by the widgets or normal browser.
Took me 2 minutes to find the info on their website

See now this is what I love seeing. A junior member that finds information in a jiffy!
I can confirm that unlimited social network with all Canadian carriers (Don't know about the other ones) includes any widgets connecting to social networks. Considering Friend stream uses the facebook authentification process and streams its information from facebook itself, you can surf all you want on it unlimited (Pictures, videos, etc.) but the minute you click on a facebook link, an external link, it goes through a regular data plan.
The unlimited social networking is a scam to me, really...
Yeah i mean really, I called bell twice and they couldn't even tell me. Thanks so much guys.

How often does the Social Networking app update? I can't find any options to change refresh time. Also there's no manual refresh option...

That didn't answer my question. I did some self testing and came up with about 2 minutes as the time refresh rate. The app is actually quite useful as you can get all your messages in the Universal Inbox.

It is useful if u pay for unlimited 3G connection, not my case. So i prefer to download each social network app I use and manually refresh what I want.

Serious? You might not like it, but there are actually people who like Blur. You like it or not, just accept and respect that please.
About the refreshing: I've been looking for it too, but that option isn't anywhere to be found. I've also found the interval for syncing social networking isn't 2 minutes for me... Longer I guess.
Manual syncing is possible, but you have to disable syncing completely for a few seconds and re-enable it. Syncing will start after this.
Not sure if it's of use, but there is the option to only update the Social Networking apps over wifi which can be found in the Data Manager section of Settings.
Cheers,
Steve

I;m not worried about sync or data cos my plan has about 250MB a month...I am planning to upgrade to 1GB a month...
just annoyed about refresh issue that's all.
250MB... that's quite small ammount. With my plan I have 2GB a month, and I'm using about 700MB out of this
Yeah. I dont download music or videos on my phone. I use my PC for that.

the reason yours is updating so often is perhaps cuz u have quite a number of friends on ur social networks. what u can do is u can filter which updates you'd like to see from which friends. that could significantly reduce how often your blur updates itself.
another option would be to do what steve suggested....theres an option in settings where it syncs ur social networking over wifi only. that should work
the best option however is to get urself an unlimited data package. 500MB-1GB data allowance would be sufficient, but if ur heavy on skype and other data intensive apps or sights a 2GB package would be recommended.
Has anyone gotten Faceniff working on their phone?
What is that?

From what i understand, and I read this on Engadget, it allows you to basically steal other people's Facebook username and password, along with Twitter and Youtube. You have to be on the same network as the other person, ie like at Starbucks over Wifi. It supposedly will work even with the 3 most common encryption codes (i forget what they are at the moment, but i think WEP, WAP and WAPk2, or whatever it is...lol). You can only use it if you are rooted, and the app was supposed to be in the market, although i can't find it...
Petty much firesheep for Android phones
Come on Logan, you have been around since the beginning of everything.... You should know that something like this definitely isn't allowed =P

i am looking for an app that will capture WIFI activity from my own wifi network. It is password protected and I connect to it. I would like to monitor all other Laptops, cell phones..etc that use my network.
And would it be possible to read the http URL's and capture key stokes or User ID and Passwords if they log into a site (i.e Gmail)?
Thanks
You wont be able to sniff out Gmail passwords or any sites where passwords are sent via HTTPS. Just for the reason you state.

If you're trying to sniff out your kid's emails why don't you just talk to them instead?
And why is this in the Vibrant forums?
There might be an app for your computer, i don't think there's one for android.

Or hes using an open, security-less, MobileAP at a coffee shop and trying to steal other peoples stuff when they log onto his network
if I have a neighbor who have a wireless connection but not secured. Am I allowed to use it?

Anyone have it? Is it possble to send an invitation to others if you have it? I just requested an invitation on the website, but if this is anything like when I requested for Google+ a few months ago, it will be a while before they issue my invitation. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help!

I'll be honest though...the ATT network (at least for me) sucks to stream music.... Takes forever to load in between songs and playback is slow and choppy...I use it all the time on my computer though.
Idk what your talking about AT&T for me is aswome I've had it since 2004 and not one thing I have to complain about always verry snappy quick

I generally don't have too much trouble streaming music on AT&T, as long as I'm in a decent coverage area. I typically stream over Pandora though, as it runs lower quality music so it doesn't suck up so much of my 2GB data plan. I really haven't used Google Music for mobile streaming, but AmazonMP3 streaming kills me - because of the higher quality (and thus higher file size) it's about 100mb to stream through 1 album once. Ouch.
What are you running for a cpu governor and min/max speed settings? Up until recently, I'd get that type of behavior with screen off, due to running Smartass 120/768. I don't know why it has been better for me since about CM7 n150 or so - might be something to look at though. I think cHarley had some similar issues and resolved them by automating his cpu settings based on app usage using tasker.
I didnt like it

There is a thread in the off topic section another this. Lots of invites.
Tried it out briefly but still like the default sense music player on my liberated aria.

I used to use whatsapp to text with my wife for free when I'm out of the country. But our one year is up and can't really justify paying twice for it for the amount we use it. Is there an alternative to whatsapp that doesn't slaughter battery life? I was going to go with kik messenger but it was causing massive drain in my testing..just running in the background. Also tried IMSY and I think its garbage.
Would love others opinions were also looking to video chat if we can since I now have a ffc. But she will be on the PC. Are skype and tango the best choices?
Wish there was an all in one app that could text/call/video call over wifi with android users as well as pc...does it exist?
Btw I'm looking for something to use on my acer iconia A100 for video chat, I would also like to use some sort of messaging/call app on my DZ, the biggest problem I've seen is most of the apps require u to register with your phone number thus locking the app to just my DZ as my tab is wifi only...no way to register and use the same profile..
Hope this makes sense guys.. thanks for any input

well, next to whatsapp im using IM+ as "all in one app" for texting icq, msn, jabber, facebookchat (skype can be used too if original skype installed)
i dont do video calls but one time when i tried that i had to do that directly within the skype app because IM+ didnt support video..
a quick look in the market for free video-call apps: tango, qik, kakaotalk
Hmmm thanks for the suggestions....the search is on!

In case someone else is looking for the same apps, i going with tango for voice and video calling (free) and live profile (free) for messaging
