unlock to locked phone for warranty - Atrix 4G General

i unlocked the phone and now have to warranty switch it. i now have to "lock" it. before i send it back in..
so .... what do i do ??

It technically stays unlocked. But before you could flash a stock sbf and the "Unlocked" on top goes away. But of course it you OTA 4.5.91 via update.zip then you can't flash stock SBF anymore. You can try the stock 1.83 fruitcakes in samcripp's thread in development forum. I'm not sure if that takes away the unlock word as I haven't gone backwards yet but it's a safe way to go back to stock.

You can't. It voids your warranty. Sorry im havin the same problems too

Did you ota update to 2.3.4? If not them you can still sbf back to 1.8.3 and the unlock will disappear from the screen. If you did ota then you are out of luck.

I believe the same thing, I believe that Verizon/motorola did put out a note about the Gingerbread update stating that the same rooting methods would not work BECAUSE the were updating to a new bootloader. If this is true, then I'm 99.9% sure they update to the bootloader they are using for the atix.
Hopefully only a matter of time before this boot unlocker OR the offical one comes out for Droid X. Lets just hope that they dont only do the unlokcing of the bootloader for the Droid X2

Gingerbread for AT&T users with locked bootloaders

At this point it seems that once flashing this you may not be able to revert to a lower firmware without unlocking your BL! This build also may not receive OTAs. So in summary flashing this may cripple your ability to OTA!
URGENT!! Flashing any SBF 1.8.3, 1.5.7, or 1.2.6 using RSD after updating via this method results in permabrick!

Remove "unlocked" from boot screen

I'm unlocked and would like to take my phone in for service, but would first like to remove the word "unlocked" from the bootscreen (the word displays on the boot screen upon boot - prior to the glowing Motorola logo. Is there a way for me to do so? I am have the following configuration...
Carrier: Bell Mobility
system version:
45.0.7.MB860.Organg.en.FR
Android version:
2.3.4
Baseband version:
N_01.92.00R

Build number:
4.5.2A-11_OLE-7
thank you in advance for any direction or advise given.

Flashing back to a previous build gets rid of it, but I don't know how safe you will be doing that.
Obviously it wasn't an issue to flash back before GB.

Don't think he was indicating a way to remove "unlocked", rather to revert back to previos build. That is the way to get rid of the unlocked.
If you haven't done 4.5.91 ota update, flash full sbf 1.8.3 can remove the unlock. If already ota update, flash full sbf of 4.5.91

Just in case that doesn't work for you, what i did was this:
1. Flash fruitcake of 1.8.3 (still had unlocked)
2. go here to get the Automated Update
3. Install and update! =]
That should do the trick. After i did this, i had to flash pudding to get back my unlock, but it's nice to know that there is at least SOME way we can relock our devices =D
....but then again, that's ONLY if the thing above didn't work for you (though i feel this is the safest, so whatever you wanna do is your choice =])

Guys, i think what he's asking is how to just get rid of the word...Not the unlocked bl itself, just the word...And as far as i know, there's no possible way.
I am using ATRIX outside of states so taking it to service is a no issue to me.
But I'd still like to remove the word Unlocked mainly because I don't like how it looks
If there's an easy way without flashing back - please let me know thanks.

Lets be clear.............you CANNOT relock your device. When you unlock the bootloader a fuse is burned out. This is a hardware unlock not a software unlock. All you can do after unlocking is remove the "unlocked" from your boot screen, but your phone REMAINS unlocked!
Once unlocked................always unlocked!

Read my previous post.
If you have a BELL Phone you can SBF to French 2.2.2 then use NFhimself Scripts to get to Bell 2.2.2 and it wont say unlock. At least you will be stock. If you have any doubts I have done this from an Unlocked 2.3.4 Bell GB.
Secondly if you use a Bell 2.3.4 gb with Bell_IHOP and no boot.img when the phone reboots it rewrites the Bell BL and seems to remove the unlock text and effectively removes Bell_IHOP. So no ram issues just straight Bell GB.
Another way you can get back to stock is to use NFHimself's Gobstopper.
Ok so i returned my phone a few days ago and i also had my phone unlocked and had ninja 4.5 rom.
So what i did to remove the unlocked text and change everything back to stock to return was to flash 1.8.3 sbf in rsd lite, now if your on 2.3.4 ota you will hard brick if your on a custom rom you might not ( i didn't).
If your on 2.3.4 ota you should flash the ota 2.3.4 sbf(look in forums)
If your below 2.3.4, flash one version higher, for example if your on 1.8.3 flash 2.3.4 sbf.
I have not tried fruit cakes so that may be also another method.
I am not responsible if your device hard-bricks , kills your dog, eats your tacos, or rapes your mom.
Im on At&t network also.
Fruit cakes do not remove the "Unlocked" text, tested it myself.
p.s. I will not try SBF-ing to 1.8.3 until someone has a gun pointed to my head. For most people it's an almost certain brick which I don't want to risk just to have "Unlocked" removed.
p.s.2. Has anyone tried flashing 2.3.4 sbf? Does it remove the "Unlocked" text? Thanks!

You could reflash the software back to before the update with the KXZ firmware and try the process over again. Depends if the hassle is worth it to you.

How did you ujse RSD lite to reflash the firmware since you got the updated OTA, it wont let you downgrade

Me too. My wifi is FUBARED in recovery. It's because we don't have the new kernel and to be technical were using the old system/recovery in our "recovery mode" I think that's why it's working in the regular mode and not recovery mode..... Or that's what I understand. Though I'm probably wrong.
When I upgraded I got a failed upgrade after final boot. Although it still says the newest version. I'm tempted to RSD back like some others have just to try but I don't want a paper weight.

While I'm kind of excited to see SafeStrap out, and updated (fixes phone/data, etc...), I'm still hoping some attempt is in the works for unlock on at&t.
Regardless, there aren't any custom roms to really flash anyways.
Had I an unlocked bootloader, I'd have a custom kernel in the works, and maybe some custom roms with some TeamAcid love.
Come see, come saw... Patience wins all.

Need help rooting Razr M

I want to root my Razr M and need assistance as I've never rooted a phone before. Could someone link me a safe guide that I can use? My phone is that "Not for sale.
