Do you recall what you had prior to this update? 4.010.08? seems to small to be from 1.141.07? thanks for sharing none the less. Many people will be happy to see something..
Alright just got home with my Iconia from the store, rooted. How do I flash this? Update.zip or flash through recovery?

You download it to your sd card and boot into ACER RECOVERY to initiate the update. you have to come from a certain build in order to use it though. Visit Vache's thread regarding OTA updates for more info.

Downloads fine. Right click and save target as to wherever you want.
Be responsible and read up before you try to update unofficially.
.10 is an incremental update for .08 which is a US Version of 3.1.
If you attempt going from .38 or .40 which are foreign versions, you'll likely end up messing something up or having issues later on regarding apps, the market or future updates.
Likewise, if you attempt going straight from 3.0.1 to 3.1 using this update, you'll likely end up in misery.
Read, read, read. You've been warned.
Good Luck.
Update:
It's come to my attention through user qhinton that there is a full ROM update of .10. Note that the file kappen has posted is the INCREMENTAL and not the FULL ROM.
I have not verified qhinton's claims. Just keep in mind that you must now be extra careful not to update with the incorrect version. You may just be better off waiting for the OTA.
Is anyone in the USA getting the update OTA? I'm still on 3.01 in Missouri

That is VERY interesting indeed, let me get this straight, you went from 1.141.02 (3.0.1) to 4.010.10? (3.1)
How big was the file you got?
I haven't read of a single other person getting such an update. Once I am able to verify what you've said I'll draw some conclusions. If it is the case then .10 must come in a 2 flavors and people will have to be even more careful about how they update.
It would mean there's an incremental (~47MB) version to take people from .08 and a full ROM to take people from anything earlier than .08.
Edit: OK you answered my question while I was typing it
So there are definitely 2 versions then, an incremental and a full ROM. Thanks for the information. I'll update my previous post.

Thanks. Very weird it isn't working for me. I will have to try later when I get home. Maybe my WiMax connection is breaking the download...
What's even more interesting is that it said .10 when prompted to OTA but when I check system info it says 4.010.11 Gen 2

Please download alogcat from the market and run during acceptance of the update so we can log the ota location and make it available to the less fortunate.
If you can't figure out alogcat, Whenever you get an update prompt on your tablet, look in the /cache/recovery of your tablet while it's downloading and copy and paste the filename somewhere then you can post it publically and it can be downloaded from something that looks like this - http://cdn.acer.futuredial.com/Acer_...xxxxxxxxxx.zip
I had 4.010.04 when it downloaded after I posted this I tried to apply it and got a error I just assumed it was because I was still rooted and had the Acer recovery flashed on my a500. I was at work so left it alone until I could get some more free time.

From this download file do you have to extract it or decrypt it or something that I do not know about?? I would like some information and help installing this update.

You could try doing a factory restore of your tablet in the system settings/privacy menu. This worked for me. It will wipe all your settings and installed applications so be forewarned.
I am beginning to NOT trust these Acer updates. My A500 was brand new out of the box and had just applied a small OTA update. I had to factory reset it again after that for the larger 330mb update to work.

just need uk 3.1! maybe aussie rom can be hacked if GSM???
What a great thing to wake up to at the beginning of a weekend! Downloading now
Could somebody who already has the update share it here please so that I can integrate the GSM Parts into the EURO-Frankenrom, so that all NON-US Users can enjoy 3.1 without any limitations.
Very Appreciated!
Update: Will try to flash my XOOM with the Motorola supplied images and then update. Maybe this way I can get the update in a State thats usable for NON-US XOOMs. I Love experimenting
Update 2: Flashing was successful, I will no dissect the updated Data
woke up this morning and checked updates on my xoom...holy crap..3.1 update downloading for my telstra 3g xoom. whooo hoo, sd card mounted, usb works..is one happy camper.
Done; Running 3.1 on my Telstra 3G GSM Xoom. Full SD Card support; nice little app called 'Files' that allows to access either internal or external. All the other normal 3.1 features (expandable widgets etc). Noticed the default typing sound when using the keyboard is a type writer sound effect; kinda cute, probably will irritate anyone around you
Can someone please post up the update zip file as well?
if i knew how to extract it i would upload it.

When I attempted to do the update first, I was already running 3.0.1 rooted. However this kept breaking the update when it tried to install. So I had to restore fully back to the stock Telstra ROM before getting the 3.1 update to install

That's what I was worried about. I don't really want to go through the whole process again, but root and AU 3.1 is the ultimate goal.
Might just jump in and update, then pull the boot.img to get root that way.

Just wiped and re-flashed the Telstra stock images as per the MotoDev site https://developer.motorola.com/products/software/
You don't need to re-lock the bootloader to update.

I'll report later if I can get root, and I can always go back to stock if I screw up

What update, do you mean to tell me you just updated your Asus Transformer (TF101, not prime) with an OTA Asus Stock version of ICS? Because you would be the first if this is true.
pretty sure he is talking about the tf201..
There are 3 possibilities here, either:
1. You are mistaking your Asus Transformer Prime TF201, for the Asus Trabnsformer TF101 like the above poster said.
2. You are mistaking the last Honeycomb firmware update from Asus for the ICS firmware update.
3. You really got the update for your TF101 (not likely) But I'm hopeful

Well, unfortunately right now, the only way you could have kept root is if you had done some steps before hand.... You'll have to wait for an ICS exploit, or downgrade, re-root, use OTA rootkeeper, then update to ICS.... If you have ICS though, don't go and try to downgrade... in case you got the OTA by accident.
No one else, inlcuding the devs has the ICS update yet. If you do indeed have it, and the rest of us start getting it, a root exploit should be following within a week or two..
What is your location geographically? (country/city)
Could you post some screenshots to confirm?
If it is indeed true, we should try and pull it from your device so the devs can make a flashable ROM.

A screenshot can be performed by pressing and holding the running applications or multitask button, it looks like 2 rectangles. Otherwise, just take a picture with your phone or other camera and upload it asap, you can understand that people are anxious to see if your claims are legit or not.

I think ICS would still have the same function.
Instructions for Screenshots without any app:
Settings > then go to Asus custom settings > Check box for screenshots.
Once enabled, hold down recent apps tab and it'll take a screenshot.
Hold down Power and Volume Down if it's like the G Nexus it should take a screenshot. Go!

Don't you have to unroot to get the OTA update?
Forgive me if this has been asked and answered but I can not find the answer if it has.
How does one capture the OTA update.zip?
And is there a list of the different version "gen"s.
I have several tablets and have gen1 and gen2 what is the difference?
First you download Patience.apk then you must copy and paste it to /mnt/brain and set permissions to drwxrwxrwx and you'll get ICS when it's ready.
Ok, that was lame, but seriously... patience is a virtue. When it comes right down to it, it looks like there's several early bug reports. It would probably be best to let Acer and/or XDA devs fix these issues. It'll end up being a happier experience for you in the end. If you really can't wait, there are a number of ICS ROM's already in the development section basedon Acer leaks or AOSP/CM9.

Apparently the GEN is set for regions, no more. Maybe, this is made by Acer in order to make the difference between the updates they send by OTA in different parts of the world?
But I've already flashed in the past two HC Roms with different GEN's versions on my A500 without noticeing any difference between them.

You are correct I have a tablet ( gen_2 ) that is ready to receive ICS update and would like to capture the update.zip before installing it.
I have a gen_1 that has already updated but have another that will be getting the update soon. I would also like to capture that as well.

I am no expert, but I read earlier that after the update downloads, you power off the tab, then retrieve the file from SD. (I am guessing after you turn it back on). This is all done prior to installing the OTA... Like I said, havent tried this yet, but going to do this when I get home from school. I left my tab DL the update this morning but had to leave....
If the Acer ota works the same as my galaxy nexus PTA it stores the download in /cache. I copy it to my sdcard prior to rebooting and I am able to save it.

Does the method described here work?
Essentially use adb to "logcat" the system logs as the update arrives in order to grab the URI.
I too am planning to grab the update.zip when it lands for a number of reasons:
I'm going to root my A500
I am going to experiement with a number of ROMs
I am going to do my own hackery on the stock ROM
I am very likely going to mess something up and it would be nice to have a safe place to go back to when I do
After all my monkey work I expect there will be another OTA in the next 6 months that I am going to want to receive and having the stock ROM makes it oh-so-much easier to queue up
I will logcat when I get the OTA notification as well as see what I can find in my /cache and report back. If anyone has better guidance I'd love to hear it.

Anyone else in the US not getting the OTA in their Gen2? Wondering if I just have to go the manual route. I've been out of the loop lately, is there the OTA update available to download and use stock recovery to update?
Thanks,

You didn't do anything wrong. Acer suspended the ICS updates for awhile. Looks like they may be regionally starting again.
Just wait,.
Thanks for the advice.
I'm trying to be patient, but i'm still not getting the updates.

Have you installed the incona tab update enhancement from the play store

Thanks for the reply, yes i had installed the update enhancement from play store.
I have now solved the problem so i thought i'd share what i found.
The problem I had:-
I was rooted, but wanted to go back to stock to try the stock OTA ICS. I flashed a stock 3.2 full package from vache's page. The one I went with was 7.006.01_com_gen1. Carried out successfully, however no updates available when doing the system update search. waited a week still nothing, even tried factory reset to clear everything out.
Solution:-
I got impatient so flashed the unstable 3.0.1 rom intending to root again.
before rooting i tried flashing other stock roms (no reason it shouldn't work i reasoned). Successfully flashed full package 4.010.38_com_gen1 (vache's page). tried OTA updates from there and it was successful!!
OTA'd to 7.006.01, then 7.014.01, then on to ICS
Conclusion:-
the difference appears to be the version of android 3.2, I can only assume that 7.006.03 isn't supported in the UK where as 7.006.01 is. If i'd flashed that one in the first place I assume the updates would have worked.
Hey, can you point me to the files and instructions on how to get this done? I rooted it to 7.006.05 long before using thor rom I believe. Not very familiar with the rooting game, but I'm still unable to get ICS update OTA.
FYI, Acer a500 8gb model US.

My understanding from reading around a few threads is that OTA tends not to work if you are rooted and/or running CWM. Not sure on process of un-rooting as i've not done it. But i'm guessing one solution would be flash a stock version of same rom, then do OTA updates.

this thread has the full packages, i'm not sure which will be the correct one for the US but others on here might be able to help with that.
If you rooted via CWM its really straight forward, I followed these instructions
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1205204
just follow 2. and/or 3.
I want to keep root and go to ics. I know I need to install ics bootloader but have not found a solid thread yet, at least not one that I can flash. Anyone that can direct me to a proven method from 3.2 will be appreciated. I am rooted and gave custom recovery installed cwm.

Thanks! It works. Downloading ICS OTA right now. Although, it's kinda sketchy that I had to download a decrypter to unzip the file. :/

also most of those roms have the ota disabled: here's a stock ics non rooted but again they take out the OTA updates( get both of these and rename it to update and flash)
