Is it just me? I really can't believe it is. I mean there isn't even 3G where I live so my phone is set to 2G permanently, yet I can't find a Froyo ROM to last even a day. Even with all my tweaks and minimalistic settings, no luck at all.
What has been your experience on any of the Froyo roms?
Anderdroids AOSPish is the first and only froyo rom I've flashed. I was running mostly either stock or bionix stuff prior to this. I'm now getting, by far, the best battery life I've experienced since buying my phone a few months back.
Maybe give it a try if you haven't already.
Same...with JI6 I get better battery life. Everyone else it seems like they get better battery life with 2.2
I am getting GREAT life with onyx r3.1. Screen shots attached. I went over 24 hours and still had 50% battery left. That was with light usage. I included display time to show that there was an hour and 42 minutes of "usage" and also included a systempanel shot showing that in standby, it has very little power consumption.
compared with my own usage, I get better life with Froyo. Mainly because of the google cloud for push notification for IM apps. before my IM app would drain the battery due to pulling.

Very nice. I couldn't get more than 16 hours on onyx r3. Are you using 3 or 3.1?
i have gotten excellent battery life on all roms except macnut 12.
I'm also getting incredible battery life. Are you reconditioning?

how much of a difference are you getting?? i was getting amazing battery life with r10 and also with the very first leaked 2.2 from eugene. i just flashed r12 and just finished reconditioning my batters... just wondering what to expect.
I am using Onyx 3.1 from TWs site.
After reading the write up of how the battery works, I don't do any kind of conditioning and my battery has just gotten better.

When I ran 2.1 I had about 10 hours of life. Running Axura gives me about 12.
Sexed by Axura
axura is good when it comes to battery for me. i'm at 91% for 2 hours with 40 minutes of usage.

I think I am doing ok here....
14 hours with 2.5 hours of web browsing and 40 min phones calls, 2 hours 20 min on wifi
Extended battery for the vibrant
Use this and your battery life more than doubles. It is very comfortable, rubberized coating, and the battery rocks. The door is quite thin considering and fits comfortably in the hand. They are also going to make custom clear protectors for the entire phone and have them up for sale within 2 weeks.

Same here. Flashed 12 yesterday and love it for everything EXCEPT the awful battery life.
Is there any other Froyo ROM that does not show text messages in the call log, because that's the biggest reason I am using Macnut 12 right now... ?
Ive been using the Odin Froy for almost a week and i get better battery life that stock JI6. I have yet to condition the battery so Im sure Ill get better after I do that. Ive had good luck so far with this.
it really does depend on the kernel you're using. I know TW for a lot of the newest releases uses a modified I9000 kernel, which causes battery drain, relatively speaking.
Check This out:
Yes, that is hr:mm. and my phone had been running for ~5 hours with only that much drop.

Eugene's Macnut R11 used the stock JK2 kernel and had amazing battery life. I just flashed back to it from R12 today. Right now the battery usage app is telling my I have 33 hours left as opposed to the 12-13 I it displayed with R12. There's something about the I9000 kernels that drains the battery while in sleep mode that nobody's been able to figure out yet.

Which rom are you running. Which kernal? I've been getting terrible battery life with v3.1 tw obsidian, by far the worst of all the roms I've tried. I'm barely getting 12-16 hours with light use. I was running fusion and getting excellent battery life.
Has anyone having issues with battery runs out drasticlly. Charge it and then with in minutes its dead. Get a full charge turn it off and back on then its dead.
I had that problem with my epic after flashing a custom rom. battery needs to be calibrated if it was not flashed at 100%. you can download battery calibration app from the market place.
Ya calibrate will help the readings but don't expect amazing battery. I have the seido expanded battery and it still can't make a day of heavy use.

i installed the syndicate frozen rom 1.1 and now enjoying a battery that still has life after return home from work (12-14 hours unplugged....medium use....about 40% remaining when i get home)
I'm using syndicate 1.2 with genocide 2.0 undervolted extensively on conservative and with the 3300 mAh battery I don't get that

I had this issue on a few ROMs, specifically the Anonymous i3. I would charge all night and by the time I got to work (1.5 hours on the bus) I would have only 50% or less battery from listening either to Pandora or other music and with 4G off. It's infuriating. I have not calibrated my battery as of the moment, however I did go to the RandomRom and my battery life is phenomenal in comparison so I would recommend (and my recommendations carry no weight because I am nothing more than a casual user who only recently began rooting) looking at what you are running and checking battery drain on other ROMs.
Your specific issue is calibration. Its that simple, its misreading you battery status

I figured that was likely it, but never worried about it since I still got good usage without ever calibrating. The anonymous i3 is the only one that didn't have decent battery life for me. Random has been the best so far, gets me about 10 hours with basic use.

Me and my wife we have MT4g mine I got it on Froyo her was on GB, I rooted mine and downgraded her. But I found that any custom rom on her the battery go out of charge in less than 1/2 a day. mine i ok with battery life I flashed 6 different Roms on both phones to compare the battery life mine is good her is out in no time. Any ideas appretiate your help
Switch batteries to see if her's is going bad?
I did that before and it's is the same.
She might be downloading an app that is draining the battery. Check to see what is using the most battery in settings.
I've updated to 4.2 as soon as it came out, few apps didn't work but I soon noticed that it wasn't the issue.
The battery life on 4.2 seems to have drastically decreased for me. I was able to watch over 10 hours of video on maximum brightness with Wi-Fi and maximum volume, after update on MINIMUM brightness and half the volume I was able to pull off about 6 hours.
Did your battery life improve or gotten worse on 4.2?
Stand by time for me seems to have improved. No data to back that up, but I usually know where my battery is at anytime of day and it has been higher than usual since the update.

For me it seems to drain very fast, ever since the update AND I've got less apps since I did clean install. I kept same settings for Wi-Fi etc. Even Stand by seems to consume a lot more battery, I mean it drained 40% during the night. I wasn't downloading or anything.
Definitely worse. It even takes longer to charge.
The battery life after 4.2 update is awful.

I've just noticed that too. I was able to charge it overnight from scratch with extension cable fully. Now it goes just above 90%.

You guys should give it a few battery cycles before making a proper judgement

I updated to 4.2, and it drained my battery from 100% to 78% in 12 hours, with idle!!!
<<stock ROM, no-rooted, stock kernel, no installed apps>>
No difference for me. If anything it is better. Left my tablet idling after charge last night and it was still 100 percent when I woke up. On 4.1.2 it would generally go from 100 to 98 left overnight. Screen on time seems about the same.

You got big problem then. Wipe it might help
Definitely worse. Using it for ten minutes after a charge drains it by nearly ten percent, and this was after a full charge cycle. On conservative use it lasts me 6, maybe 7 hours, whereas on 4.1.2 with much more running at once I would ten hours easily. Its not that much, yeah, but I'm still going to downgrade. It's a good thing Google actually lets you downgrade unlike Apple.
for me battery life is much better. i get 17 hours with screen on 56% .
Mine has decrease a lot... now the back of my nexus 7 gets hot and drains the battery really fast.... anyone has a link to a better ROM or one that gives u a better battery life
?

man i follow my guide to update to 4.2 and i dont get any battery issues , if you wanna try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1990258
My battery is much improved. Before I was getting about 5 hours of screen on time with heavy use. After the update, I'm getting 7 hours of screen on time with heavy use.
Seems slightly better on stand by..that's for sure. Too soon to tell otherwise.

Hello,
After the update I noticed the tablet rebooting occasionally, so I flashed from scratch scrosler's 4.2 rom. The dev said is the official one, he just added root. I lost 25% in 7 hours of moderate use with auto brightness . Over the night battery remained at 100%.

After few battery cycles, I still have to keep my opinion of worse battery life sadly.
Just looking right now under battery settings, there seem to be many more "Google" things "Android OS (as it was before) Google Services, Android System, Tablet Idle, and Maps and Media server also seem to be taking up more battery.
I just came from an S3 and had read so many horror stories about the battery life of the Nexus 4. It arrived last night and I didn't bother checking out the stock rom as I immediately flashed AOKP with franco kernal and let me say...battery life has been great thus far. No question it is an improvement over my S3.
So for those who are having major battery issues, I suggest trying a custom rom/kernal.
Thanks to all the developers...I was nervous about making the switch to Nexus, but am very happy so far.
Well yeah....did you try everything on stock and see the battery life from there?
I haven't either. LOL.

How could you possibly know whether the battery life is good or not if you've only had the device for less than 24 hours.
The battery life on one of my Nexus 4s was great for about a week, then it slowly turned to crap.
The battery life on my other is still holding strong...
With my experience, battery life generally gets better as you go through a few cycles. I charged to 100% and with an hour of screen time and 5 hours up time today, I am only at 85%...and I've been on HSPA practically the entire time. With my S3, I would drain 5-8% an hour on HSPA with zero on screen time.
