[Help] HTC Hero clock problem - Hero, G2 Touch General

Hello i know there is a similar thread about this but its not the same and the solution there doesnt help me. No matter how i set the time ( manually or automatically ) my htc hero keeps advancing the minutes like the time goes faster then it really is. For exemple if i correct the time manually to 09:05 after an hour it shows 10:07 instead of 10:05 as it should be. Also i've noticed my htc hero is slower then it used to be dunno if its related with the clock problem.
I'm using Elelinux-Hero-2.1-update1-Reloaded with radio version 63.18.55.06SU_6.35.17.03 and kernel version is 2.6.29.6 HeroKernel-12a-Generic
but i've tried other roms and the problem persists.
ps: i forgot to say the alarm doesnt work aswell i have to wakeup the phone for it work

Try go into date and time settings and untick Automatic Time from Network Provider if it's already ticked.

I've allready tried everything i know ( flashing diferent roms, wiping everything ) but i cant fix it. Is my htc Hero broken ?

Yes i've allready tried that and it doesnt fix it
I think the main issue here is i have to wakeup the phone for the alarm to work.
Exemple: if i set the alarm to 06:00 am the phone wont wake up at 06:00 am like it should. I have to wake up the screen manually and only after that the alarm starts even if its one hour later.
So i guess this and the clock issue are related.

it may be rom's bug

I don't think it's a rom bug but I will try a new rom when I have time.

problem with time staying correct on cingular 8125

I have noticed and not sure if this is always the case, so correct me if that is the issue, but when i soft reset my phone or sometimes it seems it just "happens" that my time is set to Casablanca time, and i have to then reset it to US-Central, it asks if i want to save the time , i say yes, it changes to Central and then do another soft reset and it's back to casablanca, the clock settings shows the time set to US central . is this a known issue? my rom is summitters v 2.24 any other information i can provide just let me know, thanks
Sounds similiar to the known Timezone issue. Disable network time sync (search on it) and see if the problem goes away.
I get that problem too.

Losing time !!!

Hi,
My Touch 3G UK on 3 network keeps losing time every day, several minutes every day.I have tried various Roms, but all seem to lose time.Am using Megade 1.5.3 at the moment. Is there a CAB that can correct time automatically or is my phone faulty in some way? Occasionally the time corrects itself but goes wrong again.
I have Hard Reset.
Any help or ideas appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have checked/enables the option "Automatic change time zone and clock" under Setting/Phone/Time Zones?
By this your device will be picking up the latest time from the mobile operator and sometime it might be updated one or there can be some lag.
Try unchecking (disabling) that option, set your time manually and see if it still losing time or showing wrong time.

clock time changes

i'm new of HTC TD2. my clock time changes all the time when it goes sleep mode and i press the power button and want to make a phone call, i need to adjust the time back. this is really annoying me coz it means i can't use this mobile as my alarm at all.
can anyone help me? I've already read the thread in the forum. but still can't find the solution. Thanks heaps.
Same thing is happening for me. This is the second Pure that I have owned and it seems like the time doesn't "keep up". Sometimes it will be only a few minutes behind; other times, hours. It has caused me to be late for work and I now have to set 2 alarms (I hate using standard alarm clocks and their annoying beeps and prefer to wake up to music that I have set on my phone, but I need a reliable back up). I really like the phone and hate to have to send it back for the second time for the same thing, but HTC seems to think that it is AT&T's network issues (funny how no one else or any other phones in my house have this problem). I'd be interested to know how many other people are experiencing the same problem.
Play with your sync time with network setting and see if that helps.
Thanks for the reply.
i think i've solved the problem. just unticked the automatically time zone changed. and it's running fine now.

[SOLVED] Can't shut off the phone, it always turn on again

well, i was following a thread about it, but i guess it was deleted cause it was in wrong area...
if a fix was found please tell me! =oP
it seems to be a commom issue: when i try to turn off the phone, it just turn on again...
what i've done until now: i was running cm7 and i believed it was a rom related issue, but i'm back to uk stock (1.32.405.6) and keep it with no root (just ship s-off that remains after flash ruu), and the problem remains, just take a little longer to turn on again... BUT, when i plug it into pc by usb cable it stays off, when i unplug it turns on again...
i'm tending to believe that's a hardware issue, maybe a short in phone plug, but in this case, it is the most commom issue that i've saw...
any idea is welcome
thanks...
Edit:
Okay Folks, looks like the "fix" was found. I made a little summary for the next generation! =oP
this weird issue happened due summer time changes (don't ask why), but after March 27 the phone simply didn't stay off, if you tried, it just turned on again.
The "fix" is:
- disable automatic hour update (just in case)
- remove battery and let it out for around 10 hours, then put it back and turn on!
- Hour and date may reset (or not)
- now you can reactivate automatic hour update if you want.
- the device just stays off properly again
credits for
XL3N7 that found the problem,
Rodomar705 that found how to fix in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1014520
And everyone else that probally lost every data (like me) so many times trying find out how to solve it. =oP
I really dont understand why the admins deleted and not removed the thread from the development section.
What really happens: I have my dhd with cm7 around two months now and i always flashed the nightlies.I know the issue, when the phone is powered off and plug a charger reboots in cwm recovery. I never had problem just to "power off" my phone and actually did that every night before going to bed (so i know that the "power off" used to work ok) .Two days ago i flashed RC3 , power off worked ok, then nightly 32 and next morning i had the issue. When i select to "power off", without any charger or usb connected , phone just reboots.Just to remind you that if the phone is powered off and you connect it to charger then the phone goes to cwm recovery! So i tried various combinations :
1. Back to stock 1.32 (both with img file and exe file). After that flashed 3.0.0.5 and the newer version of cwm
Phone powered off correcty and the vol down+power goes to hboot. After flashing cm7 problem appears again.
2. Also had a backup and load it (nightly from 16/02/11) but still the same problem.
Please devs tell me what kind of files you need in order to help me solving the issue.
Also i see posts from guys using other custom roms and having the same problem, so i dont really understand why the admins deleted last night the thread started in development section.
You guys using customs rom just check if your power off works and if you have problem write it here and hope not to be deleted.
@thiagodark I think you have to change a little bit thread's title
same problem!!....i think is a bug of CWM...or there is a conflict between recovery and "idontknow"!!....
this situation is funny ... we are afraid to brick and our DHD doesn't want to turn off...
well, i think my problem is a little different, cause i get this problem even after flash official ruu, i'm all stock right now and the phone keeps reboot when i try to power off. when i select "power off" with micro usb cable connected, it works okay, but when i disconnect, it power on again.
Also, sometimes when i try to power off with or without the micro usb connected, it just dies and the only way i can power on it again is by removing the battery.
suggest me a tittle and i change, as you can see, my engrish is not something i can proud myself! =oP

Yes,it must a bug of CWM 3.0.2.4r1,I hope they can fix it in a few days
Ok, I think I have found the problem.
Go to settings --> Date & Time, untick the option to use network values and set the date somewhere before the 27th of March when the daylight changes took place. Reboot and power off. The phone should stay off (at least it did for me). Now power on, go to date & time settings and tick the option to use network times. Power off and it will probably come back on.

No its not a bug of 3.0.2.4 r1(i had 3.0.0.5 when problem appears). As i wrote everything worked perfect (cm7+cwm 3.0.0.5) till one morning (was on cm7 nightly 32+cwm 3.0.05) want to boot in bootloader, so i select to power off. After that never powered off. What makes me nervous is that i didnt install any appl or changed the cwm recovery version.Nothing like that.I always powered off my phone so i know that there is not cm7 nightly related.
So the big question is what changed in a few minutes?
What the f******k?????? Daylight? )))))))))))
Confirmed working.Changed the date back to 03/26/2011
A guy mentioned that last night (about the daylight change) on the initial thread which admins decided to delete

ok, but i don't get how it could affect me, since i live in a place where March 27th was a normal day... here summer time OVER almost a month ago! =o)
I have no idea m8. I've just put 2 & 2 together. The issue first appeared shortly after the time change. Maybe a bug in htc's code? Surely not a cm thing. I have tried fastboot erase system -w and the problem was still there. I have also tried different radios, cwm versions and the issue is still there. Probably HTC. Hopefully one of the greater minds of this forum can pin point the issue.
Perfectly good work around
Hi, If you want to, you can untick the setting in Date & Time and install Clocksync from the Market. Using this app you can sync your phone's time at whatever schedule you like to the atomic clock (it is much more accurate than HTC's provider).
This will enable you to shut down correctly and have accurate time displayed on your device.
You need root though.

[Q] WIFI timer not working since 4.3 update

When i was using 4.2.2 the wifi timer worked fine, i had it set to come on at a certain time and off, and it worked fine
Since updating to 4.3 i have set the same timer again (as i done a clean install of 4.3) and now every time it gets to the on time, i get a notification saying the wifi timer has started but the wifi it's self doesn't come on, when i look at my short cut tabs at the top the wifi one if off, even after the wifi timer says its started.
is this a known issue?

Hi.
I don't think this a known issue.
I'm using it myself and it works good in 4.2 and 4.3.
Does yr WIFI on yr device working without the timer?
Yes the Wi-Fi is working fine when I put it in myself, the timer just doesn't seem to be working in my phone, when it gets to the on time, I get a notification saying that the timer has come on but when I bring the notification bar down the Wi-Fi isn't turned on.

Strange..
U might want to re-install the firmware again.
Make sure to do clean wipe, wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache before reinstalling.
Other that that, some 3rd party apps u had installed might have prevented the WIFI timer to be activated (some apps are poorly made by the developers).
This is all I can I think of.
Hope that this may help u.

thanks for your replies, ive done a bit more testing with it and have found that if i have my phone on when the timer comes on then the wifi does connect, its when the flip case is closed and the phone screen is off it doesnt seem to come on.
also i have also found that everytime the timer comes on i get a security message saying an application attempted to access system on your device, this has been blocked..
the wifi timer is the built in one though and not a 3rd part app, so not sure why thats saying that.

Ok, that is normal when the screen is off, mate..
I read somewhere here that the security message is kinda bug by Samsung...
btw, are u using the original firmware?
If so, u will get that message.
Yes I'm using the original non rooted Rom, when I was 4.2.2 my Wi-Fi would also come on by timer even if the screen was off, that's why I was confused by it not coming on in 4.3
When in 4.2 I was using a rooted version, but decided to go official with 4.3
if i download the original fw and reinstall it with odin, will it wipe my apps / settings or will it keep them the same?
