Firstly hello. This is my first post on this forum.
I own an Acer A500 Icobia tablet running all stock programs.
The only thing that is doing my head in here is that I cannot work out how to search my exchange email folders.
In the Gmail app, there is a search icon which works flawlessly, but in my Exchange account, there is nothing there.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S which is using the Nexus S email app as the keyboard on the default Samsung app was broken.
effectively did not find any search function in it. i will do some checking around about it.
have a look at TouchDown TAB for Exchange, this one has a search function ... payable app but the trial for 30 days is free ...
Marcher
Thanks
I have tried maildroid but that only gave me mail back to the 23rd December.
K-9 wouldn't work at all (looks like no support for ex2010)
Will try Touchdown and see how that goes.
thanks again.
Ditto on Touchdown for Tablets ... I dont even have my Exchange acct set up in the email app any more. License was on sale in Amazon App Store, too

Hello -
I am a newbie here. I today got my Samsung Galaxy S. I have rooted it and applied the lag fix. It is super fast and very cool.
** Problem **
Now I am coming from the Blackberry Bold background. I am having trouble configuring the email setup on Galaxy.
I have 1 Exchange Account, 2 IMAP accounts and 1 Gmail account.
Gmail account was setup automatically the second I went to the Android Market place.
I tried setting up one IMAP account using the default Email application with mixed results. It downloaded the messages, so settings were correct. However, it is extremely slow. Further, I could not find any settings to sync say upto last 3 days only. It simply kept showing me "Load More messages"...
I am also wary that I do not have the choice to store messages on the internal 8GB SD card which shipped with the phone.
I haven't tried anything with Exchange yet.
Push email is a MUST for me. I do not want to return the phone as everything else seems to be super cool. But I do need to get emails, contacts and calendar working in harmony.
I would be extremely grateful if someone could help or point me in the right direction.
Many thanks.
The email app is really bad. you have to use the gmail app, which I also don't really care for. You cannot copy text from messages, viewing attachments is a pain (compared to iphone). K9 email is better than the stock app, but still to many bugs, so i went back to gmail.
Learn to live with gmail app or return the phone. Jorte calendar works good thought, but I really miss the nice iphone email app. Maybe some update will make the email app less buggy, but it is a very far step behind iphone email.
For a smartphone, it is essential that email/contacts/calendar work in harmony. I think the email is a major let down especially when compared with Blackberry.
I have exported all my contacts and calendar to Gmail. Will see how that pans out.
Will try out K9 email.
I use K-9 Mail. It's a free app available on the market. Much better support and options than the default email client. Give it a try.

I just got update to 1.141 and get working with exchange server.
But i cannot find yhe search function in the mail app. There should be magnifier like gmail app.
Or there is no such function in default email app?

Best I can tell the stock email app doesn't include searching. One of the many shortcomings seriously, all this time and still no "Select All" or "Empty Trash" options?).
I personally use Touchdown for Tablets (from Nitrodesk, link to the Market) for my Exchange email. I especially liked getting the activation license on the cheap from the Amazon Market, although I would have paid the full price if it hadn't shown up there. The app's free for 30 days (never hurts to make sure it works with your specific Exchange config.)
So I'm new having just moved to Android from WM, and have configured all my accounts on the phone (that's 7 email accounts under Accounts), now my problem is simple I see no way to actual see existing messages in the inbox's, when I get a mail it shows up in notifications, but other than the gmail accounts (all 5 of which are available from the gmail app if separately), getting to the yahoo, msn or aol accounts (mostly used of IM, but mail does go to them some times) is just not easy. I really expected more from Android when it comes to email accounts. I've seen programs like Enhanced Email or Pure Messenger in the market place, but before I went and sent money, I thought I'd ask if there was something I'm missing built in or free?
On the same note I'm finding the Widgets that are provided for Google voice, are ugly and others say for email are simply not present at all. All of this is making me miss my HTC Sense interface on WM. However there I'd expect solutions for all of these issue, which is what I'm looking for.
Thanks,
ERIC
You'll find all your emails in the messaging app

I know the app you are suggesting, but so far it always says no emails, yet the gmail app shows well over a hundred, so as far as I can tell its not working, also like to crash on me, so I do not think it is a solution.
Thanks,
ERIC
You can try K9-Mail for an e-mail client. Works amazing for me.

have you configured the email accounts in their respective sections in MESSAGING app as has already been suggested? the app works fine here, so if you are having problems, factory reset and try again. i dont really understand what the problem is. your question originally was how to access them, then when told how to access them you say it's not working. if its not working, start there and figure out WHY its not working......THAT would be your problem, wouldnt it?
not trying to be hostile or funny here, but if you love HTC Sense, you do know there are plenty of androids running HTC sense right?
or you can wait for a HTC Sense ROM
I have five accounts running with no problem. Try a factory reset like someone else suggested.

By default its only set to sync the past 3 days of mail. Go into account settings from the messaging app and bump it up to 30 days. 30 days is the max which is a bummer. On my past win mobile you could tell it to sync all mail.

I received my Nexus 7 32GB 3G model on Friday and I have discovered something I cannot figure out.
I have an email account using Exchange ActiveSync (my company runs Exchange 2010). When I see a meeting invite in my inbox there is no button to accept or decline. When I view the meeting in my calendar I can mark it as ATTENDING Yes Maybe No.
Selecting Yes doesn't send a confirmation or remove the invitation from my inbox. There should be a way to accept or decline a meeting invite. I have that option on my HTX One X.
I'm running a stock 4.2 ROM JOP40C build. I have unlocked the bootloader and rooted the device using the Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit v1.55.
There is an option, (i've just tested to confirm my memory) although you might have to change tabs to see it. Under the to/from bar there should be 3 tabs: message, invite, attachment. Pick invite and select your answer. Fixed?

I just sent a test meeting invite from my home email to my work email. When I see the meeting invite in my work email I do see two tabs (message and invite). There was no attachment, so that is probably why I didn't see that tab. I missed that the first time I saw a meeting invite.
I was able to select invite and accept the meeting. I was not given the option if I wanted to send a response or if I wanted to add comments. The HTC mail app on my One X gives me those additional options.
So accepting the message worked OK. Then I went back to my home email and cancelled the meeting. When I received the cancellation message in my work email, there were no tabs to allow me to remove it from my calendar. I had to go to my calendar and delete the meeting and then go back to my inbox and delete the cancellation message.
I think Google needs to put a lot more work into their stock mail app. I can see why some of the OEMs replace it in their builds.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a replacement mail app that works well with the Nexus 7 screen resolution?
Have you tried K9 mail or Kaiten mail?
Very good mail apps from what I've heard.

I just looked at both those apps in the Play store and they both say they support Exchange 2003/2007 using WebDAV. My company is running Exchange 2010 and I need to use ActiveSync, not WebDAV. Exchange 2013 has been out for a while now and these apps only support up to Exchange 2007.
hello
i have encountered the same pb on S3 and now also on the S4. I can not configure the exchange email app. only the mail. how can i do that because it seems to me already that samsung only says that you have exchange email but it doesnt work. wtf?!
Mail exchange works perfectly on Sgs3 and now on sgs4... I use it non stop. Ask your administrator of the mail exchange server settings. You do something wrong with the settings.

Wow .. now that activesync has expired on gmail I need to reinvent my mail syncing on my new s4.
The way I wanted to go about it is that I let gmail sync calendar and contacts and use the native mail client via imap.
Why not use gmail for mails too .. well because I need to set up my work activesync account too .. and I don't want two apps for mails.
First thing I notice is that when I set up imap access to gmail with the native application I get no push functionality (imap idle). The shortest sync frequency is 5 minutes. This is not good enough.
I am now thinking about using the eMail app from CM10.1 .. which served me well on my old device but I really don't want to loose any of these nifty Samsung features (which I may already have lost because I installed swiftkey from playstore .. don't know yet).
Anyone have some tips for me on how to proceed?

Google has stopped providing exchange mail for private and personal Gmail (starting February 2013), so you can use the build in Gmail account in your phone or to set IMAP.

That was for "additions," not legacy users. I'm still using GMail ActiveSync with my N2 and Note 10.1 Does anyone know if it's carried-over based on GMail account or only by individual device? For example, if I got a SGS4 would ActiveSync that's currently working on my N2 continue to work on other phones I swap after that?

Yep .. either switch to outlook.com, use a software that can do imap idle (K9Q i guess .. never really got into that) or do it like i do it right now .. live with the 5 minute delay in the standard email client and do the syncing for calendar, contacts etc. via gmail account.
At least this is my solution for today
Actually I'm using a hacked client from CM10.1 .. to not have to enter the PIN so often. The thing is that all Samsung stuff is lost .. like in-mail translations .. this is quite a pity .. I really hope for a security patched version soon. Oh .. to clarify .. the patch is not for my googlemails of course .. but for the other exchange account I have to set up.
