Is anyone else starting to experience touchscreen issues? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm noticing sometimes I have to lock and unlock the phone to get the touch screen to respond, although if I press a little firmer it usually registers.
I'm currently running cm7 and have not returned to stock to test. My next step is a full fastboot wipe and reflash cm7 to see if it goes away and if that doesn't fix it then I'll return to stock with S-ON and the whole 9 yards.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

Yes, but I only notice it while typing. Most often my delete key becomes nonfunctional, as well as other letters like O and several other vowels. VERY ANNOYING. It's happened to me on every ROM except Royal Ginger for some reason. So I'm baffled. Here comes yet ANOTHER call from T-Mobile for another warranty exchange.
I hate this phone.

This is starting to sound like the next big issue for the MT4G. First bad displays, then loud buttons, then backlight leakage, then off-centered cameras, then bad eMMC chips, and now unresponsive touchscreens. This is incredible. I've never heard of any single electronics device model with so many problems. HTC really screwed up with the MT4G. I wonder if it has something to do with T-Mobile being considered the "budget" national carrier when compared to the other big three.

Yeah, but I guess HTC does have a bad track record for their quality control. All the more reason I want a Samsung, seems like they don't have much trouble with hardware defects, just software.

My keyboard does not vibrate so that's not my issue, but nice catch.
On a hunch I switched to HTC IME mod and so far the problem hasn't resurfaced.
I'm thinking its the keyboard, maybe just have to clear data for android keyboard in apps settings?
If anyone wants a link to jonasl's HTC IME mod keyboard, let me know.

I'm having this same exact problem. I thought it was only me. The backspace key just randomly stops working. And the same with the O key. And I thought I got one of the good phones :/.

I've had problems with the pin unlock on cm7 sometimes the number 2 doesn't respond.

I think this is software based. I prefer the Android Keyboard found in the market... on some roms it works PERFECT! On others, the whole top row of keys just craps out. I need to hit the character I want three or four times to get it to go. Yet on those same roms, stock keyboard, or ?Better keyboard 8 work flawlessly.

After a full fastboot wipe and reflash I'm still seeing touchscreen issues.
Will restore to stock via pd15img.zip and if it still happens I'll warranty it AGAIN.

Mms comes as a slideshow

I know I've seen this discussed before but I can't find it. Pictures always come as a slideshow instead of just a picture. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to change that, or if I can. Anyone have any input? Thanks
I thought that was just the way it worked on this phone. You mean you can have pictures just display as pictures? tell me more!
Heh. Seems random on mine. Sometimes they come as a slideshow and sometimes as just a picture. Maybe it has to do with the phone or carrier it comes from? No idea.

not really sure if the carrier, or the phone.
i've got a friend that sends me pics from her iPhone, and from her specifically, they sometimes come as one, sometimes the other.
might have to do with filesize?
Weird stuff, its not abig deal...a little annoying though
Since we are on this topic, why do long texts get split up, I was on tmobile and it never did that, I figured it is network related

CDMA (Sprint and Verizon) has a 160-character limit. T-Mobile and AT&T are GSM.
Well, from reading, everyone has a 160-character limit, but many GSM phones just allow you keep writing and it'll split them into separate 160-character messages on the receiving handset. Many phones now just split it automatically, regardless of network, such as our EVOs.
I'm not really all that well-versed on these technologies. Just a stab in the dark here!

On CyanogenMod, if someone sends me a single image, it just comes as a picture. I click it, it opens, and I can look at it until I'm done. Which is nice, because I don't have to try to soak it all in in 5 seconds before the one-slide slide show ends! But if someone sends me multiple images at once it is still a slideshow.
That makes sense, maybe ill try a different ron, I've been lookin at vaelpak's latest.

[KEYBOARD] Stock Gingerbread Keyboard without smiley key

That damn smiley key was driving me insane, so I got the Gingerbread keyboard source from AOSP, got it to compile, and got rid of the smiley face button. Other than that, it's identical to the stock Android gingerbread keyboard, so requires 2.3+. Eventually I may figure out how to make it able to be turned on and off, but that would rather defeat the point. Enjoy!
(Note: you have to enable it in the Keyboard settings before you can use it, just like any other keyboard.)
The Eclipse project (source) is available here.
this sounds like a good thing for me because it also became annoying to me.
quick question though because i cant check out the keyboard mod yet, but does it remove the smiley key completely, or does it replace it with an enter key or something?
soon as i get the chance, ill install and see for myself
Nice. I like that it has been replaced with the enter key instead. I find that to be immensely more useful.
I replaced it with the significantly-more-useful return key.

The smiley key doesn't annoy me per se, but the fact that the Enter key was removed does. So now, it is impossible to have any semblance of formatting in your SMS'es.
Will definitely give this a go as soon as possible. This is definitely a must have as far as I am concerned.
Thanks, but i've a problem with your keyboard.

It's probably because you've packaged up the WVGA keyboard file, and not the qHD version. The Sensation sports a higher res screen.

That would make sense, but I don't see why the same keyboard wouldn't work on all devices. I mean, looking at the code, I see nothing that would prevent scaling. I was never asked for a target screen size to compile for, nor do I see any way to enter it. If someone could explain a way to fix it, I would gladly rerelease a qHD-compatible version.

You should try and work it out that Long Press of the return key let's you select smileys. It's one of my favorite features of Perfect Keyboard. But non the less, good job.

Yup I did a fresh install. I have both the ripple lock and the agile lock (sense 3.0) and they both do the same. I found out that they ado work but to I have to use the volume to show unlock (weird) If I hit the power button nothing happens at all.

To be honest with you I only tried CM7 for about an hour. I just didnt like the look and layout, plus it seems like it comes with so much more things installed (bloat to me). During that hour it did not feel any faster nor smoother than Oxygen. Been using Oxygen since 2.2.1 till now and I have NEVER got a reboot or freeze. Check it out man, you wont be dissapointed.

Nexus 7 Stuck scrolling up?

Hi, this has happened twice now.
Once on Facebook, and once on the Browser I think
What happens, is it seems like someone (a robot with really quick fingers) keeps flicking my screen up, so when I try to scroll down the page, it goes down a little bit and then goes straight back up, so it seems to "bounce" off the top of the page.
I have to keep closing things, pressing home button/back button lots, close apps etc and then it will stop.
What could be causing this? I hope I explained it well enough.
Thanks !
Anyone?
Are you rooted? If so, try restoring to stock or re-flashing the stock ROM. I don't really have any idea what could cause that scrolling issue, but if it continues, I would exchange/RMA your N7.
