which version did you flash? bluetooth doesnt work on any of them yet, and at leats one of them i believe requires terminal commands to get market working, chmod 777...i dont remember the command off hand. Try deleting some widgets from the system apparently this helps load rosie, from what i understand everytime you press home the system cycles through all of the widgets to see which ones should be you have activated so it knows to display them, the fewer widgets your system has to cycle through, the shorter the wait time. Also try running an optimization script or two

There is a lot of information in the Development threads for optimizing your Hero build on the phone. It is not going to be at this point as stable as any of the other roms so it will be slower. I will try to update some of the threads for you to look up check back.
Here's one to check out
Hi,
When I received my 3.1 ' update the UI was really responsive do not know what happened now. The pad response has been hopeless since last 3 days. Everything is slow, even when I am typing, I have to wait 2 secs to see that on screen.
I am sorry I don't have a solution but I will agree with you and the Acers sometimes slowness. I install tons of apps and I have noticed the a500 isn't as fast as when I first updated to 3.1 (didn't have many apps installed yet)..... It kinda feels like a windows computer sometimes and needs a reboot or to uninstall some apps that run all the time.
Klaus nailed it
The speed of the OS depends on the clock settings (IMHO, a500 without over clocking is a bit laggy) but the real issue : software you have installed.
Search the market for a copy of ATK and use it to see what programs you have installed are running all the time, even after you use the back button or an in-app option to shut said program down. I stay away from apps that want to keep themselves running all the time unless there is a good reason for the app to do that - twitter, g+, stuff like that - makes sense for it to run all the time, that way you can get push notifications. Use a task manager to scan for tasks that have no logical reason to run all the time, and then check the permissions of that app.
In my experience with the android OS from 1.5 onwards - all it takes is one rogue app or one very poorly coded app to totally lag down or destabalize the entire system.
I am having the same problem. My tab was lightning fast and even better when I oc. Now its lagging behind. I do not know if its something I installed or downloaded but when I found help ill let you know.

Hi, there
i just switched to cyanogenmod nightly #203 and its really awesome speedwise.
the only "problem" i have is the auto screen rotation.
its so slow compared to iphone for example.
its not a problem of the rom i think, because the stock rom is rotating slow too.
one the other hand, when start the camera its rotating very smoothly.
is there any way to speed that up? i searched on the web but couldnt find any useable fix for this.
thanks!
Lol our wildfire is a cute device na. Its processor and ram is just basic. We can't compare it with a phone that have almost double the potential and ofcourse double the price. ( but with half the features of android os ) more over iPhone is an eyecandy phone. I mean apple give more importance to its GUI and look. So its a must that it should have a speedy interface.
For your sake of knowing, own an android costing some where near to iPhone. Like sgs2, HTC desire z, or some thing with 1+ ghz processor and 756+ MB ram. And android 2.3 or higher. Then feel the difference.

Installing/Using:
1. Download the attached V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
2. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root."
3. Touch the screen for the soft keyboard or slide out the keyboard and get SuperCharged! Just pick an option!
4. READ the script's output!
5. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
6. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
7. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop
Install an app called 'Script Manager' from the market. There are both Free and Adfree versions (i.e. paid) available.

i just copy this from x3ano ..this will make the different dude..
I've had a search through the forums and various websites but with no luck to a simple question (well, I think it is !)
I'm a A500 and android new user for a total of 2 days and moved over from my ipad1 as I use skype a lot and couldn't justify the cost of a new ipad just for a camera. Anyway - onto my question.
I've already rooted the tablet but am looking at also using a custom ROM to play around a little to see what they are like etc. Can I go straight from Taboonay V2.0 to 2.2 update or do I have to flash V2.1 between ?
Will I lose all my apps and settings when I put the custom ROM on or can I back everything up, flash 2.0, then 2.2 and then restore apps & settings ?
One last question - Is it possible to put 'folders' on the home screen on the A500 ? I like one screen where I can click on a folder into games for example and then another folder inside with racing before clicking on a racing game. I really like a home screen with minimal icons on (I realise it'll take me some time to get away from the iOs but I'm the same on my PC also.)
I've just downloaded v2.1 FULL so will put that on and then 2.2 (is it the same process for 2.2 apart from the wipe/format option)
Any answers to the other questions would be appreciated though.
Cheers

Was just about to post and tell you to do exactly that. You shouldn't need to wipe in between versions, but I ALWAYS do a full wipe and format on every install.
As to the folders question. There is no option natively to do so on HC, but I have seen some pretty creative apps on the market, so have a look there.
i use folder organizer for my folders and desktop visualizer for the home screen shortcuts to each folder. Grab yourself a nice icon pack from one of the many threads on icons here and you're all set. Let me know if you need help to sort it out.
Please use this thread to ask questions about bugs the atrix is suffering related to the Linuxonandroid project, or to ask questions about the webtop version of this project.

Will you still be using the chroot method, or some other way?
Waiting eagerly.
Where to start...
Zac,
A wonderful thing to see this thread start so quickly. / I was the one who posted a few days ago about running Deb Wheezy based on your build guide. But I'd like to help push this effort in any way i can. (and I can always run 2 img files since I boot my image from term as opposed to the app...)
My goal reason for the purchase was to be able to bring up X, and launch VPN and RDP / With the build I hacked together I am able to do so with XFCE / VPNc and remmeia / and as far as browsers go, iceweasel was the only one that would semi work. (chrome seg faults / and web would seem to launch and then just disappear...)
When it comes to the webtop, I know there have been some posts about chaning the resolution down to 120 that seemingly puts JB into tablet mode, but I found that to be less than useful once i got into chroot. I've never been happy with the display fonts on the webtop. (once i had a config where the fonts were clear etc, but i did something and lost it... ) But the biggest hurtle there I think in part is that it seems to mirror the 960x540 res / and once you increase it you have to pan. / If you use fit to screen in the menu it will fit it to screen but then the mouse clicks don't pass through...
If you are looking for bugs - what image would be the most helpful / easiest for your to work on? (deb/ubuntu/etc) and full/small etc.
as i will load that to be more useful...
and does it matter what the base rom is. (currently I'm on epinter's CM10 rom updated yesterday) if keeping things more uniform would help I can pop something else on for the time being...
One of the main issues I was getting when running the images was the desktop being gray on the ubuntu 12.04 image like everyone else, but even after getting another desktop loaded on certain programs would not launch. When i would try to launch them from terminal I would get a seg fault. also when I tried to step through the commands in the ~/.vnc/xstartup I was getting a seg fault there as well. (So I am guessing that's why the gray screen when I VNCed. / So the second question is, when I do get a Seg Fault, is there anything additional I can provide that may aid in diagnosing the issue?
Thank you again!

The 'normal' method is to use chroot (after all it does work very well just needs refining), when it comes to the webtop not 100% yet

Hey James,
Really the biggest issue with know of right now is the grey screen, and with the large ubuntu image unity not rendering correctly. So this will be the image I will be working on first.
As far as base ROMs it really shouldnt matter to much (of cause you will need a stock based ROM for webtop) I will be sticking to a stock base for now so if you where testing from a CM ROM that would be very useful to cover both main bases.
Just pointing out the issues is a good start, on Monday I plan to get cracking with it (had to push it back after not finishing unpacking and sorting my office yet) and should start on the bug squishing, and webtop version will be once I get a lapdock which should be once the device fund has finished.
2x mouse pointer
hello
I have the Atrix with the HD Dock and bluethooth mouse and keyboard.
I'm running Nottachtrix ROM which has HDMI landscape mirroring, this means I can use linuxonandroid with a mouse and keyboard in the dock. The problem is it doesn't see the mouse as a true mouse. I get two pointers, one from the VNC and one which is the bluetooth mouse.
Is there away of using the mouse normally?
thanks for any help
Jonnym
Hitting the menu button or fn-f1 should bring up the vnc program options. One of the choices is "input method" there's a few choices and you may to see what works best for you. (The options are like touch, pan, zoom and various combos if those. I haven't found the perfect one but it would the there I expect.
I've got problems on epinter CM10.
1. I can run only Debian
2. can't get su in Debian
3. sometimes, VNC says "disconnected"

Ovitz - yes. This is in part why Zac has this thread too. It seems the tegra2 is a little finicky. I was only able to run Debian as well and only with xfce. I created my own image to do so. It seemed to me that the desktop manager would seg fault and then everything else was an issue. A good start may be to go in to the home did for your user and look in the .vnc hidden directory. There will be a file localhost:0.log (the number may change but should be 0 on the standard image. When you locate the file you can use "cat localhost:0.log" to view it or even better add "> filename.txt" to redirect it to a file. And then you can post it. My guess is you will see a segmentation fault in there.
*disclaimer - I'm just an excited user that has been hoping and waiting to get this worked out on the atrix and not a dev...

I tried all the input method options available on androidVNC none were that good.
I'm a bit ruined as I've just unlocked the bootloader and installed nottachtrix with faux1.3 kernal and webtop flys, no lag at all, it even runs bbc iplayer HD.
I was hoping to to find a webtop replacement, as I use it alot, so I can run ICS or Jellybean but the combination of the pointer and the complicated start up is making me hesitate. Great to have it working though big thanks to the devs.

This is a product of the client. My mouse arrow floats above the remote one but anytime I click it jumps to the location and clicks as well. / I am not sure if there are "seemless" 1 to 1 clients with regards to the mouse. But there certainly are a number of vnc clients out there beyond androidvnc. I am sure for each one someone could tell you why it is the best ever or sucks....
