This person does not have a Verizon phone. He or she want's vanilla/stock 2.3.3 gingerbread on her/his GSM xperia play.
I have the solution(closest we can get for now) for you since I wanted this so badly. I'll post it in themes and apps as well. Go here ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1088564 It's a stock theme for the xperia arc that works on the xperia play. You should do everything it tells you except for the settings.apk That will not work well on the xperia play. Settings will crash alot, trust me I did it myself.

Once CM7 reaches a more stable point, an AOSP build will be much easier to accomplish on the GSM Play.
Until then, slap ADW EX and a Gingerbread theme on there and you'll be good to go.
adb shove iPad2post.apk to /forum/thread

You also need to wait. Before you know it we are going to have roms flowing out our ears. I am working as hard as I can to learn how to make kickass roms so hopefully I can release something good soon
Actually, after doing all the above, I was kinda looking for other things to do I am loving the tethering though. Thought there would be a place for apps that are not in the market.
im having the same problem. i dont know what to do with my phone while waiting for everyne makes awesome custom roms. im just waiting to figure out how to get it fully optimized with everything thats already ready for it

Get a development environment setup and write some apps! Download the GSM Kernel and learn how to compile and tune it (use Teknologic's changelog as a guide perhaps) and prepare for the eventual release of the CDMA Kernel (or even the 2.0 Kernel...what? I can dream!)! It's fun to prepare for such things and test!
Thanks Much!

Chuckhriczko, please keep up your 'good' work!
I used your instructions for rooting my hero, a little confusing but helped me to better understand linux procedures.
jjjjayd13,
Lets try to get Google maps with nav on the hero. They got it working in the Dream forum with some directions. Let me get my backup ready......
Where can i find more themes? I did the clear one and its ok, but not much to it. Also what is so special about modaco rom other than u can save apps to sd
go try out droid explorer and desktop sms...you can get desktop sms stand alone, or it comes as part of droid explorer...both took about 5 seconds to get working and work perfectly.
This is the thread I started about it

if you don't have the market, you probably forgot to/need to re-flash the google apps zip.
aside from that...you should be hanging out here -> Evo Forum
Start by looking at the [noob guide] and these FAQs.
Any other problems/questions search around in the Evo Q&A or General sub-topics and you should find what you need

I have the BlueAnt S4 and it cannot voice dial, says it needs Andriod 2.2 . Looks like the Hero will not get that from Sprint/Google, so will a rooted phone with 2.2 be able to make blutooth voice dial ? Thanks, Ted O.
Yeah a rooted 2.2 should work just fine with ur headset. I don't see why your headset isn't working fine now to be honest.
sent from my hero aosp2.2 cause aospcm7 2.3 was not as fast or stable for me.

[Q] Flashing to stock Android

Hello I'm new to Android and my friend is letting me borrow his spare Xperia play. One problem, he has an experimental os or something along those lines installed, and to get the full Android experience I want to use the stock OS. He said all I need to do is flash it back to the stock OS however I am a noob when it comes to Android and have no idea how to go about this. Please any help would be greatly apreciated, thanks.

It's actually me that let him borrow it, and it's an R800X. I regret to say that I will actually be too busy this weekend to help him, but I can provide you with details. It's an R800x, it's not activated on Verizon, and if I remember correctly it's running Version 23? of FreeXperia CM7. As you guessed, the bootloader is fully unlocked, and if something goes wrong I have the knowledge(mostly) on how to fix it. So, my XDA brethren, help this poor soul who has lost his way on iOS!

then just unlock your bootloader and have fun
? You don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash a firmware if its signed using Sony's key?
If you want to update to ics, you can just get a ftf of the firmware and flash it.

Hi mate, a few months ago I was in the same boat. I build PCs, understand basic programming, etc etc but it's a whole new world these android phones! Haha very humbling to go from the guy everyone asks for answers
To the guy who has nothing but questions. Anyway point is I can relate.
When im at my pc a bit later I'll gather up all my bookmarks and links and dump em here for you! 99% of what you need is buried here in xda land so in the mean time... Start reading! Haha
Sent from my LT18i using xda premium
if you've rooted your phone I'd recommend "sysTune" from the store - it's an easy way to change the running priorities in that you simply afford each process a number between -20 and +19 - the processes with the lowest numerical settings are given the highest priority and vice versa - it's an easy way to keep the speed right where you want it, and it's great for a really smooth launcher

Just with reference to this question, when I found out that ICS was available for my phone I just relocked my bootloader and upgraded via PC companion. However, my suspicions were confirmed from first boot into ICS, all the custom roms I had been using were much better!
But I thought you should know its very possible to relock your bootloader, so you might as well try a few custom roms while you wait for ICS.
Ive had my arc for about 6 months now and I have tried all the kernels and roms I could find, I reached the conclusion that Arconium ICS v4 Get Arconium ICS V4 here was the best for me. Im currently using Arcknight RC3 Get Arcknight Kernel here as my kernel but I have heard good things about using the stock kernel with CWM.
If your going to delve into the world of custom roms and kernels send me a PM and I would be happy to help with the processes you will need to go through.
The way I see it, there is no point in us both doing the 6 months of experimentation when I easily share what I've learnt with you

Creos ROOT Toolkit Xperia 2013 v.1.1 by Creos Team

REMOVED
Is this actually tested on any Xperia with Jelly Bean? I'd be highly surprised if it'd work. I don't have the possibility to restore my phone to factory images right now, otherwise I'd try it out myself.
I doubt it works too
Can someone try this ? Perhaps NTT Docomo users?
This is a BAD copy of my Root many Android script, the user just changed the scriptname without having any shame.
I reported this as a kang of my work. It DOES NOT work on Xperia Z too!

How to make Arc S Smooth with Official(Moded) ICS 4.0.4

Hi everyone,
Here is how you can make your Xperia Arc/S smooth and usable as the official ICS is too laggy and unusable.
You will need
1.Root
2.Xparts app from play store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pvy.CWMinstaler&hl=en
3.Download the rom from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866183
4.Preferably Unlock the bootloader for overclocking the CPU.
Now here is how you make the rom usable with a little drawback(some apps might not work as expected)
1.Root the phone
2.Install x-parts app and install custom recovery.
3.Install the rom using the instructions within the official ROM page.
4.After installing the rom and signing in with your google account goto settings->Developer Options->Background process limit-> 4 processes atmost.
5.preferably install nova launcher and make it as a system app.(experience a very good and smooth UI)
DISCLAIMER : I'm not responsible for any harm caused to the phone. Try it on your own risk.
Hit like if it helped.
Im not the developer of these roms. Full credits goes to the developer who worked on it.
There are better ways to make the ArcS smoother. Every other ROM can do this, too.

Well Daniel i agree with you. This is for the users who wish to stick to official firmware and enjoy the features of sony such as Xloud, Bravia Engine etc.
Since i found this worth sharing i have posted it so that it'll help people like me who wants to stick with the stock firmwares which provide all the features in working condition.
