Same thing happened and my screen DID break, fortunately the guy I purchased it from was more then happy to exchange it. It was within 48 hours after buying it,

I treat my tf like an abusive bf treat his battered gf. no case and no screen protector. Take it with me everyday. No scratch or mark of any kind. Don't know how you people do it.
I take mine just about everywhere but the loo, but my TF is fairly well taken care of other wise. Give or take dogs climbing over the screen and my backpack flying across the car here and there.
Watching the "Drop test" of a Galax SII and iPhone 4S, made me extra glad to have gone ASUS instead of Apple. I was especially impressed when getting scratched by my dog and the docks metal, didn't leave any thing behind but dock hair.
I am pretty rough on mine and not a single scratch

Amazing, never have to worry about using your phone in the rain again as well.
I hope this becomes standard.. and soon!
I have been lucky to never kill a phone with water (well there was a nokia dumbphone that went though the washing machine) but still, wow.

True but the rain would interupt with the capacitive screen making it nearly impossible to use in the rain anyway.
But this does look promising. Hope it starts rolling out on devices this year!

Not dying in the wet it half way towards usable in the wet at least

Lol! I thought it was some strange British something I scratched the bugger off with me nicket! hahahahhaha
I did the same with light fluid (paint thinner, fingernail polish remover, anything that has some alcohol) after it started peeling off somewhat. This was several months ago. I do have to warn you about the excessive scratches that appear now. They are quite minor and I have had my G2 since day 1 of its release. And yes... it will may be shiny but it does get fingerprints like the display now.
Mine went off by itself after 10 months of heavy use. i am pretty mercyless with my devices though...

It is a mod. Your changing the phone from its stock look to something CUSTOM. yea it happened by accident. So what? The nexus s we had a bat door mod where you basically do the same except use sanding paper to give the door a black brushed metal look. Not only that I've only had this phone for 2 weeks.. sorry were not leet enuff for ya to figure this out ages ago AND NOT SHARE IT WITH THE REST OF US! lol some people lol always someone hating for no reason lol :-/

Scratching off something that is already peeling off is "custom"? You go on thinking that, bud.
As to why I didn't come on here and share this knowledge? Well, I thought it was pretty obvious that something that is scratching off (the clear coat) could be . . . . scratched off (TA-DAAAAA!!!!)
Its not stainless steel, anyway. Its aluminum. When I first read the thread title, I thought it was some crazy mod where you made a new battery cover out of stainless steel, or some kind of S/S coating. But . . . its not.
Although, I do appreciate the fact that some folks on here did not realize they could scratch off the deteriorating clear coat. So I agree that this is a useful thread. But I'd use something softer than a nickel (or other metal), to avoid scratching the brushed aluminum while you remove the clear coat.
Most of the material is off my panel door as well, just haven't taken it all off yet. But, it scratches up really bad, so be prepared for it to look pretty beat up after some time. Still though, it looks much better without that finish on there.

I forgot my tf101 on my car roof before going on..
So all my fault, now my tf 101 is dead, it has been passed over by a car at least before i was able to retrieve my tf101..
The tablet is still working fine, i just can,t see anything, because the screen is only showing line of color. Nothing readable.
So when using it with hdmi, everything is ok. I just have to figure out where to tap.
I will reset everything on it and might try to sell it for part.
I also have the docking keyboard which is not broken. It was at home when my misadventure hapened.
So i have make the jump on the tf300.
So far it is working great. With the exception being that the vpn l2tp shared key is also not working on the tf300. I,m still waiting for that.

So you're glass isn't broken? the only obvious issue is the lcd doesn't display anything? Personally I would take it apart and check for broken or disconnected wire.
You could always hook it up through hdmi and have yourself a little media player for your TV.

Bummer man. :crying:
I left mine on the hood of my Jeep when I went to take the trash out one morning, thanks to the silicon case it stayed put until I hit about 40 MPH, then it went airborne over the roof of the car. I managed to stop and pick it up before anyone ran it over though, the case took the brunt of the impact. The screen stayed intact, the only damage was one or two of the tabs that hold the back cover on broke so it protrudes from the corner now.

Thanks, I'll try that
Ok guys - weird happenings, i use a usb cable from my desktop pc to charge my N4 at times. I had been sitting it on top of the pc tower & it has fallen onto the laminate floor 3 times and came out without injury. So i thought it was vibration from my pc tower, so i have been sitting the phone on my pc desk surface, today i found the phone hanging half way across the edge of the desk. There is no serious vibration to mention from my pc or desk, the phone has not been ringing for the phone vibrate to cause it either. So does anyone else have any paranormal activity with their N4 strangely falling off surfaces??
only thing i notice is the glass bottom surface is very slidey
This has been a problem since day one. Put a rear screen protector on. That'll fix you up.
this is the reason I bought a bumper when I ordered mine
Yeah, that's not paranormal I'm afraid, the back is very slippery, the device can and does slide even with no vibrations at all. Just make sure to place something in the surroundings of the phone when you leave it charging that can block random slides.
cheers guys, this is surely a bad design, im so lucky no serious damage occurred. Ill buy and try the rear screen protector as im not a fan of phone covers etc, Fingers crossed this does the trick. Many thanks guys for the feedback :good::good: :laugh:

You are charging it with your PC on top of the tower with a cable tugging on it... And you are saying it is bad design? Give me a break.
Try using your charger and maybe put it someplace where the cable will not pull it. This is not rocket science.

stop being such a forum ****.
I never said i was charging it on top of the pc tower, i sat it there. When its charging its on a flat desk surface as is the charge cable. I have sat the phone on my desk and sat it on top of my wallet and it falls off. So with this phone i will need to be careful how i place it. Of course its a bad design, i should be able to sit my phone flat on a flat surface and not worry about it falling onto the floor. Nexus aint gonna give me a new one if it were to get broken and no warning came with the phone.

my n4 has probably fallen/jumped at least 50 times over the past 5 weeks, and its still in perfect condition(no cases or screen guards). luckily, the far majority of falls have been on a carpet, but some have been pretty scary
I can also say that I find mine sliding. It's quite weird actually, from the tests I've done I've noticed that it usually occurs when I have it on my leather couch or my ottoman. Yes, I know it's not a desk but the phone is sitting there rather level. It has also done it on my home desk as well, but not at my work desk (yes, both desks are level). It kind of reminds me of an air hockey table type situation. If you have it on your desk and push it, it doesn't require as much work as lets say an SGS3, Galaxy Nexus, or Blackberry to move. Basically the way it's designed causes it to not create much friction between it and the surface it is on.
Although, none of this bothers me since the phone is a fricken beaut.

Better get a thicker skin quicker as you're dealing with a lot of teenagers in these forums. Its like playing WoW, way too many prepubescent teens.
guys, it's not the phone. It's the surfaces you're placing it on. Most tables/desks are nice, smooth and shiny. Combine that with the glass and a NOT SO PERFECTLY FLAT SURFACE and you get falls
