I'd get an O2X, I've heard great things about it.

Battery life is very dependant on usage, aka the more the screen is on the less time it will last.
I get 14-16hours on a charge, but I do lots of reading via google reader and web browsing, and some gaming.
The SGS2 has some of the best hardware out, an unlocked bootloader, CM hopefully coming so its got a bright future on the community side, and it even seems like samsung might push out a 2.3.4 rom soonish.
Tegra has some small advantages, eg in games, but with Chainfire 3D you can play any tegra games.
YMMV etc.

ive had the gs2 for five days now..and ive gotta say...i LOVE it. right out the gate, the screen smacked me in the face like a flying dildo..simply stunning. the os too is buttery smooth. i have updated through kies once to kf3. my handset is sim free. all stock widgets etc remain. one problem i have is 'software update' and the hubs appear randomly...so i close them, they reappear...i have been.thinking about rooting it, but ive been conditioning the battery. . if i root i can't update through kies..
anyhow, i'm getting roughly 22 hours use, with moderate usage. which is ok. i recommend this phone wholeheartedly...its simply awesome.

Despite the less than stellar battery life, thisis my favorite gadget bar none .
The battery issue is said to be fixed with the new gb 2.3.4 .some also say that modded firmware helps solve this issue.
I'm still in unrooted stock fw and I have force stopped a wifi process . This seems to have stabilized battery usage somewhat. Still too early to tell.
But with battery issue or not, I can't see myself ever using another phone.
When I carry the sgs2 with me I feel like I'm carrying a part of the future- this is what mobile computing is.

If I didn't play around with my phone so much. ( and play so many gameloft games ) My SGS would last at least 2 days. At the end of a day, where I have sent some texts and called some friends, while playing almost an hour of games. I still have 40-50 battery left.
I can recommend this to anyone. (My mom just got the sensation... It's laggy, and bad battery. Standard HTC)

Switching to S2 from htc

I dont want to flame, but i have some deal to switch my Desire HD for S2.
is it really that worth ? I mean, i am amazed with Hd (custom rom ofc) and battery life (around 2-2.5 days) and i read about S2 having bigger issues with battery (around maybe 1d) :/
HTC Sense is also a big plus for me tho
should i get S2 ?
It sounds like you have already made up your mind. If you have to ask if its good or worth it, you dont want it.

Maybe you are right !
But i just wanted to hear something like "You can tweak your phone, so battery will last longer. use xxx rom..." (same thing what i did with HD)...

As someone on this forum said , the S2 is only a software update away from being the most powerful smartphone around ( not taking the 4.65" screen on Nexus into account ). Adreno205 and 1GHz Snapdragon on Desire HD just can't compare to SGS2. And about the battery, one day is enough really , who uses their phone for 24 straight hours... Jack Bauer maybe -.-

That, you can do, of course.
My dad has a Desire HD and it's slow as ****. I would never consider or recommend anyone getting a DesireHD over a Galaxy S 2.
Hvala !
Are you kidding me? I had a desire HD also it had a 1230 mah battery and lasted 8 hours max for me. My galaxy s II easily lasts 2 days if I want it to (with about 5 hours screen on time). Try CheckRom or Androidmeda if you do get the Galaxy S II. But if you have enough money, you should get the Nexus. Its the best phone out right now

My reply might have been a bit terse so apologies for that bad work day haha!
Its a very, very good phone, hopefully good enough to grab the phone of the year award. If youre up to a bit of tinkering you can make an amazing phone into one so awesome it could slap the baby jesus and walk away unscathed.
Its a definite jump from the DHD but as with all tech, increase the power and screen real-estate without a jump in battery technology and you do get worse battery life. With the frankenstein ki3 rom and speedmod12 kernel I get around a day and a half to two out of it with low to medium use.
Hope this has helped!

Thank you all..ill get it
I bought an s2 two days ago. Moved from a desire HD.
I was getting about 30 hours using rcmic runny rom. I was happy with it but fancied a change.
I have rooted and unlocked the s2. I have tried CM7 and MIUI roms but have come back to a Samsing KK5 rom with a few minor tweaks.
I have siyah 2.3 kernal overclocked to 1.4 ghz.
Battery life is about the same ss the desire HD but i have noticed that the samsung takes twice as long to recharge.
One thing i do need to say. This is a very very fast device.
I loved my desire HD but the s2 is a better device all round.

if you've already bought it then perhaps u can try CheckROM Revo HD 4.0 with the latest speedmod kernel
for me its the best combination if u want better battery performance

Not sure where you're getting your info from but the Desire HD's got worse battery life than the Galaxy S2.
I was one of the DHD early adopters back in late 2010 and yes, as someone else mentioned here, it's slow as **** compared to the SGS2. I don't know why anyone would prefer the DHD over the SGS2. My phone lasts me 2-2.5 days just with a rooted stock 2.3.5/2.3.6 ROM. I only use SetCPU and App Quarantine to freeze apps.
I am so glad to have sold my DHD!!!
i have had the desire hd and its not in the same league on any front. better everything honestly. Dont be worried about the battery. custom rom and kernel and it will easily last you the FULL day on heavy use.
Neboj se, ove je najbolji phone sto mozes kupit
You can get the official 2000mAh extended battery from Samsung like me, and battery life will be even better. With this battery I have not once gotten mad about my phone switching off during the day, somehow my battery life has increased with 50%.
Anyway, Desire HD to Galaxy S II is a good move. First of all, the screen are just as big, but the Desire HD screen looks ugly and washed out compared to the beautiful sAMOLED+ display on the S II.
Second you upgrade from an old Snapdragon processor to Dual core exynos, which is seriously must faster.
I also believe the camera is better on the S II.
I would to it no doubt
Regarding battery! Basically he is comparing his personal use on dhd with reports of power users on sgs2. In short if your dhd lasted you with your usage pattern 2-2.5 days you're sure to be within 3-5 range on sgs2 provided you continue to use it the same way.

Thank you all..
Btw, i am mid user.. 10-15 calls, 1h wifi/day...when i first got DHD, my batt after few weeks lasted less then a day..like 15-16h... Then i rooted and falshed few rooms, stayed on Virtuos. Now i have 2-2.5 days mid usage...1-3mAh (Batt Monitor Widget).
Nvm, ill get it
Well i had an hd2 and came from 1-3 mAh to 30-60 mAh on the s2 with the same apps installed. On the hd2 there was even more syncing enabled and wifi and gps always on. But everything else is better on the s2.
Sent from my GT-I9100
i use both at the moment. GS2 is faster with much nicer screen, youll probably miss sense until you get used to touchwiz or run a different launcher, (launcher pro has virtually the same widgets), but overall the GS2 is definitely worth it.
Dont expect the same battery life though, no matter what rom you put on the GS2 but as long as you get through the day and stick it on charge its no problem is it.
I've unplugged 2 and a half hours ago, its already on 48% lol. Don't flash a miui ROM.

[Filipino owners!] HTC One - comments, reviews, rants, opinions and much more!

Kamusta mga HTC One Filipino users!
I got mine from my Aunt working in Taiwan got the 32gb version since she said the 64gb is "rare" to find also mine is white ( YAY )
been using mine for 3 days been checking it very carefully for problems and stuff and from my observation no software problems or hardware problems but BATTERY DRAINS VERY FAST! I am using a 3G sim and my data is always ON average screen time is 2hrs and 58 minutes heavy use and maximum with light use is 3hrs and 45 minutes also Brightness is always FULL
I keep saying to my self the battery is "ADJUSTING" oh for most new phones it is!
Great Screen, Great design, feels nice in the hands and great grip does not fall off hands easily , has this "nice vibe to it" well what do you expect from HTC
So my fellow pinoys would get this great phone? hate or love it?
Or will you be waiting for the Xperia Z, Motorola X or Samsung S4 to come to the Philippines?
The choice is up to you!
Hello.
Only 3 hours screen time? Ang baba yata masyado.
My Note 2 can last 7-8 screen time with 3G always ON.
I am thinking of buying this phone as my secondry device for my smart sim kaso ang hina pala ng battery.
I am still waiting for the reviews of the S4 so I can't really decide yet. It all goes down to battery

AnTuTu Battery benchmak

Hi guys,
I've been an iPhone user for four years in a row. This year though, I bought HTC One developer edition for me and my wife.
Anyway, I've seen lots of threads on battery usage and stats but they reflect results that are dependent on each particular user. I felt like my battery is not lasting long so I ran AnTuTu battery benchmark test and got 457. I still have a week for the unquestioned exchange term, so if anyone out there had the same test could tell me his score, I would decide whether to return it or keep it. Cheers,
P.S. Skype was running on background during the test. I don't know if this benchmark software is clever enough to calculate that difference, but antutu was measuring cpu-usage/battery-usage so Skype shouldn't effect the test result. Advance users might know better of course. :fingers-crossed:

Oddly enough I have the exact same grace period so to speak to return my one also , I have also not had very good results with battery and I am considering returning it also , I even downloaded wake lock detector , gem battery monitor, to try and see what is keeping this phone awake, so far I have not been able to nail down anything, I was hoping not to have to worry about every setting , ie, WiFi,brightness, etc etc , my s3 outperforms my one by at least 30 percent , I'm finding the phone is not really going Into deep sleep the way I think it should , anyway sorry for rambling , when. Saw your post I was like uhhhh yeah me too , anyway before I posted I went looking for antutu battery bench mark and I can't find that app , do you mean antutu benchmark, and that app has a battery score I it somewhere....? I never used that app , although I am quite the flasher , sorry for rambling , but I saw on another thread that someone else was not getting Decent battery results and had to exchange there phone and when he did he got much better battery results , I thin its a software glitch , I was hoping not to have too root, to achieve better performance ..........nope other people chime in , I'm a very light user lately and I'm barely getting 3 hours of screen time and 13 hours total , phone is draining around 4 % an hour while off....
I have the one since friday, after the onex has driven me nuts for a year because of the sh**y battery.
I am absolutly amazed by the battery of the one, getting 4-5 hours screentime (watching hd movies and playing games) and still having 20% left

Edit Okay maybe i'm mistaken but in order to run this test i think you need to be at at least 95% and it must take a long time , i've tried several times but no good phone is on charger will try again ....................jeeze lol

Would you recommend the Galaxy S7 Edge in late 2017 ?

Hey guys im looking for a new phone that isn't harsh on the budget but still delivers (currently using Nexus 5x) and im deciding between the Galaxy S7 Edge and the HTC 10 , the S7 Edge is refurbished 300 pounds and the 10 is brand new 270 pounds . I would like to hear your opinions and is it worth buying , pretty much im looking for a better performance and battery life .
I'm using the s7 edge since 1,5 year. I had never better battery life, and the performance is still in the top of list I think. Before that I was a huge fan of hts one series.
I would definitely recommend. Even after using it for 18 months, i'm still so happy with this. I believe there are many like me.
What kind of screen on time do you get . Im getting max 3 hours screen on with a total time off charger 8 hours on the nexus , my usage is kinda heavy because i like to play games listen to music on spotify and chat , and did you encounter any issues . Also is it easy to root and tinker ?

Yes, exynos is a Samsung fabricate, so it's better more energy efficient. I think it has also a lil bit better performance.

Stock, disabled unnecessary stuff.
Thanks for the information guys i think ill buy it in a few days
Budgetise, it's a good decision.
I get 5 hours+ on 3g only and 5-7 hours if using on wifi. 5 hours is the bare minimum. I'm on Superman Rom 2.8, Notorious Kernel. Nougut. On stock, it's possible to get 4-5 (or more if you use wifi mostly)hours easily. I use custom rom for features and control. My average battery life is 12-18 hours

Do you have exynos or snapdragon?
Exynos is more energy efficient.
Is seller refurbished and pre-owned by a person basically the same? Because i found a pre-owned model that comes with the headphones , cables , otg and a wall plug thats european standard (which is what i use) and 18 month warranty. The refurbished one comes with a usb cable , sim tool and a micro fiber cloth and 12 month warranty. (The price is the same) Also the pre-owned has pictures and its in excellent condition , the refurbished claims that its in excellent but no pics.

There is no reason to ask which one you should choose.
Check the imei no.-s and look is everything in fine condition. A phone in almost perfect condition can also be refurbished, and when the refurbishing was unauthorised, the warranty is already lost.
Htc software is too bad that it's neither the well known Sense nor Google's AOSP. It is just some **** in between them.
I am using Superman Rom which will give you more control on your performance and optimizations.
My device is Exynos.
Definitely, the s7 edge, for the first i am very satisfied with my purchase.performance wise its ROCKS!!!
my brother has s8+ but not even once have i felt that his phone is better than mine or anything. infact with batman rom sometimes my phone outperforms his
i am not a heavy gamer i just play clash royale on it. my phone usually gets through the day with just 1 charge.
n also also that edge screen is a beauty.makes it stand out.
Excellent phone in the exynos variant. Great performance and battery in stock - even better when modded. On Superman 2.7 and Superstock Kernel 2.9, chuck in greenify and force doze and I can easily go 3 days on moderate use (I estimate 5-8 days based on rate of battery loss, but I'm never game enough to try). No performance sacrificed in my configuration too.
I would say better then the HTC 10 in every way (although that is a very good phone too ) Buy the G935F if you are interested in Customs ROMs etc. Better battery life than the S8, S8+ Note 8 with pretty much the same features - grab the S8 launcher if you want the swipe up to open app drawer. Get an S8 port if you want all of the features of S8 (although i reckon the additional features are kinda useless haha).
I gravitated toward the S7 Edge from your comments and after watching a battery life test video in which the S7 Edge lasted 4 more hours than the 10 and in a heat test in which the htc after 20 mins of real racing 3 got to 45 degrees and the S7 Edge was like a boss on 37 degrees.
