What is the most that You got out of the Wildfire battery - Wildfire General

Hello
If any of you have a screenshot of your maximum battery life You can post it here. Let me start
It was going for 5 days, but my girlfriend started playing angry birds.

Damn I dont think I can beat that. The max I can get is ~3 days. I am sure I can stretch it to 5 days, but that would mean completely abstaining from my Wildfire for the 5 days, which is, well, difficult.

Try to beat this, guys

Looking at all the replies here, I think I'll have to go for a "min-usage" policy for the next charge - discharge cycle.
Also, I am extremely curious for the 10 day result that is posted. Was it achieved on the standard battery supplied with the Wildfire? Or one of those larger ones?

3xeno
It's on the standard battery with the stock 2.2 rom.

Ok, thats amazing results, but it was achieved with sync and data off, right? I cant survive without data connection, and thats why I bought an smartphone.
I can use it for maximun 3 days, with 3g and sync all the time.

I've had 5 days with an overclocked Wildfire, running CM 7.0.3 and JuiceDefender. I'll grab a screenshot next time.

I think I should post in the quite opposite thread if any.
Can't live without fully using my phone (at the moment).

Battery life after initial charges- your opinions

As we all know, the Galaxy S uses a Li-Po battery.
Having previous expirience with those batteries (R/C Helicopters), i know that they require 5-10 cycles of full drain-full charge to reach full capacity and start their normal life cycle.
Not too long ago, there was a thread complaining about battery life here, but i think it was due to people checking usage time on the first or second charge only.
In this thread, i'd like to hear your opinions about battery life, but please-
Only those who passed 5 FULL drain-charge cycles, reply. We need some objective information about it.
Personally-
I'm after my 4th charge, and already seeing HUGE improvement. When i recieved it i barely managed to go through a single day, and now i'm almost 2 days since i last charged it, played some games, browsed a little, made a few calls, and i'm still over 65%.
Waiting to do 2-3 more charges and reach optimal state to see what it's worth.
Mine is a Li-Ion and lasts about a day with almost constant use.

any of you guys experiencing the temperature going high when inside your pocket? is this the battery or the phone heating up?

You are correct in that initially we were told the battery type would have been a Li-Pol.
However, since the phone's release it has now come to light that the battery is in fact a Li-Ion.
I made a post that mentions this here if you wish to have a read.
I’ve had my phone approx 2 weeks, so I’m on my 5 or 6th battery recharge. My phone has been on for 1 day 20hrs now. I’ve talked on the phone for about two hours and surfed for about ¾ of an hour. Wifi has been on all the time – Bluetooth about 3hrs. Current battery level is 70% - I must say after all the gloom and doom re the latest smartphones I’m more than happy with the battery life so far and does seem to be getting better all the time.
Wow this is too nice to read, I was starting to worry about my battery being wonky

In contrast I have had my phone since Thursday... I've charged it 4 times in 48 hours so far. I am using it a lot and am hoping I get thee performance rise soon.

I'm pretty sure it will.
When i got my phone i charged it to full, and before the day ended i needed to chrage it again.
And now:
Last charge was thursday morning (GMT+2), and now, after 2 and a half days, i still have 40%.
I could probably go on for another full day.
My first few charges barely made it through the working day, but now the phone still has plenty of charge after 24hours. Although right now is an exception, as the lady is playing Abduction on it and will probably keep at it until the battery dies
She really should get her own Galaxy S. Although we're waiting on some GPS improvements before replacing her phone, she cant afford to get lost.

Correct.... She's far too busy keeping me in check, looking after our Granddaughter and the Farm.
I got my replacement SGS today (had to send the original one back as Carphone Warehouse messed up the order so had to send everything back just to get a new SIM) and been hammering it for 14 hours, literally 80% of that running games, using WiFi, bluetooth and GPS and I only got it down to 25% and hadn't even charged it to 100% before I couldn't wait any longer. If the battery does get better after the initial charge, I will have no problem with this phone.
Further to my earlier post...
Charged the phone to full before bed last night... All of the power widget functions of two exchange email accounts and hotmail updating every hour.
So with no other use for 8 hours the battery was at 91% when I woke up. Battery status confirmed that 57% had gone on standby and 29 % on idle
So... Presuming this bsttery use is constant when idle... My phone will be down to 70 % by 24 hours with no use?
Crabby
It varies greatly according to reception.
Good network coverage= less work for the transceiver inside the device=less power drain.
It's not really constant.

And my signal was 5 bar edge signal for my 'test'.
Since this morning, I watched 90 mins of video, surfed for 10 mins and made a 5 minutes voice call on the train... By the time I got to work, the battery was at 53%.
I don't feel my phone will last my journey home at 6 tonight, so I have had to put it on charge again.
But still... on 3 days old...

I'm having great battery life

Hey guys I got my EVO in the mail on Thursday, and do I love the thing! I have been reading about battery life and was a little concerned at first, but that was then. Last night I unplugged my phone at 7pm and it had a 95% charge. I played with it a bit and texted until around 12am. I did not charge it and started texting and using it for a while this morning around 10am. It is now 4pm and I have 49% battery. If this is what everyone is complaining about, im happy with it haha.
Basically, it's people leaving 4G / Wifi / Bluetooth / GPS all on at the same time that kills the battery life of the Evo. My launch-day Evo has routinely done 20+ hours of usage with no problems.
The only times I've ever seen a marked decrease in battery performance, I could find that some app was hung up in the background draining the juice.
Rooted or just stock non root?

Come back after you try using data for an extended time (texts don't need data connections most of the time), having your mail sync for even every 3 hours or so and facebook, news, weather or any other auto sync feature enabled. Watch your battery die as quick as a witch under water.
My email syncs every 10 minutes, and my weather syncs as soon as it can. (not sure how many minutes). My facebook updates pretty often. And I have news updating as well.
My phone is also NOT rooted.
I get fine battery life, with WiFi connected I get much better standby than when using mobile data. Turn mobile data off when I'm out and about and the battery basically doesn't move. But I still can get 20 hours of use if I'm not on my phone constantly. I only turn off mobile data if I think I need my phone to last more than a day. Like camping or something. I have gmail pushed and weather and all that good stuff synced every hour. Been playing with juice defender which does increase battery life pretty good but you can get the same effect by toggling your mobile data with the widget. Juice defender does turn on data every 15 mins for a minute to sync which is nice but it causes a little lag when you unlock your screen because it turns on data as soon as you unlock, a little annoying.

I highly doubt this is possible especially on the stock battey. I personally know there is no way to have all those apps syncing at those frequencies on the stock battery and still get MORE than 9 hours of use. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=783364
Unless you turned off your phone somewhere in that timeline and are not telling that bit of info. With the sync frequency you just gave, I seriously doubt your battery numbers are even the correct ones you're giving.

According to that, it says your phone has been powered on for 48 minutes and used for 15 minutes. Go back and check the link I gave in my first response and look at the screenshot most people would want to see.
EDIT: Saw your edit and your phone has been in standby most of the time. I personally am not impressed by standby times. But if that's what floats your boat then so be it. I personally have gotten 10 hours of CONSTANT use on the stock battery with apps syncing every hour and get 1.5 days normal use on my extended batteries.

I know that people talk about losing the first 10% in like 10 minutes, but has anyone ever noticed how long it takes to lose the last 10% of the battery? That sht is frustrating, going from 90 to 70 for me takes only about an hour, but the last 10% for me can carry me another 3 hours or so. My battery is teasing me.

What battery issues?

Before getting this phone I did my fair share of research on it and every review said the same thing, super phone...terrible battery. Now I never owned a touch screen phone before this so I had no idea what the desire, Samsung or iphone battery life's were like and all these reviews were causing me some concern and led me to believe that my phone would be dying over 9 hours or so due to lack of power.
Now having had my desire HD a few days I just want to say wow what was all the fuss about? I get a full 24 hours use out of a full charge without taking any precautions to save the battery. When I'm at home I leave my wifi on continuously, it was on for a good 14 hours yesterday. When I go out I switch over to 3g and turn wifi off...only used this for an hour or too since I wasn't out much. And remember I only got this phone a few days ago...so the usage has been pretty heavy as I fiddle around with it, doing some web browsing, have all my accounts and widgets syncing, play a few games, making some calls. On the first day I got it yes I drained the battery in 9 hours but that was super heavy use...i.e. I didn't put it down once in those 9 house.
This phone easily makes it through 24 hours with perfectly normal use without having to worry about the power levels. Great phone and I love my first android to bits!
I'm glad to hear some positive things about the battery as Verizon has the incredible HD coming I plan to purchase when they get LTE.One thing though that you may not know is your wifi wasn't running continuos, it shuts off when your screen shuts off and comes back on when you turn it back on unless you fool with the wifi settings and tell it "never" turn off. But overall I'm glad to hear that
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Does it drop the wifi when the screen is off by default? Not so on my standard desire as far as I am aware - unless this is something new in the HD rom?
Good to hear the battery is lasting well according to the op. Little 3g use though it seems and it is this that cains my desire.
There seem to be some mixed opinions on the battery life. I use mine quite heavily and have to admit that the battery life isnt the best that i've had but i'm happy with it as it lasts me what i consider a 'normal' day, ie, take it off charge at 7.45AM and after a days use (calls, internet and syncing all day every 15 minutes, music, wifi and bluetooth left on) and it gets me home for around 7PM with a bit of charge left. That for me is a normal day, if I know i'm doing anything else i'll put it on charge in the office/car. If I need satnav i'll always use a charger anyway.
So... For me it's OK, but not good, could have done with a higher capacity battery.
No Battery Issues At All
I received my HTC Desire HD 2 days back and have no worries about the battery at all.
On first charge it lasted over 12 hours and I was using it VERY heavily. I'm currently on my second charge now and after 24 hours of medium to high usage, I have 40% remaining.
I always have my syncs set to update/refresh as often as possible, so mail is every 5 mins, weather every hour, facebook every hour, have Google and HTC Sense syncing too. I've also left my wireless setting to stay connected even when the phone is on standby and am getting this performance out of the battery.
So it just leads me to believe that anyone saying this phone's battery is poor must not have used a smartphone before.
And with regards to the WiFi settings, you have 3 options. Go to Settings, Wireless & networks, Wi-Fi Settings, press Menu then select Advanced. It's the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy you want to take a look at. Like I said, you have 3 options; After 15 min, Never when plugged in and Never. Someone said you can have it turn off whenever you go into standby, this is not entirely accurate. With the After 15 min option, it turns off WiFi if you are in standby for 15 mins. With Never when plugged in it's the 15 min rule again except when plugged in. With Never, it just constantly stays on.
By default it is set to Never. I've left it as this to test how much it eats up the battery and I have no issues.
P.S. It's always best to do a full charge/recharge when you have a new battery to get it to use the full capacity. Charge the phone fully and use it until it dies. Charge it fully again, not taking it off charge until done, then let it die. Do this a few times and you should see the capacity go up. After this you can charge however you like although after time (months), you may see the capacity seem to come down, in which case do this again a few times and you should be good to go.
The battery on my HTC Hero came down to lasting 12 hours after 9 months. Did this a few times and not it lasts about 36 hours.
Yes I have my wifi set to never switch off...it still does all its sync'ing and mail retrieving whilst in stand by mode. I even went into the battery usage last night before I charged it up again and it had been running on the battery for 24 hours and 15 minutes and I checked the wifi usage and it said it had been in use for 13-14 hours and it had only used a small amount of power (less than 12% if I remember correctly)
i agree..
Its just as good if not better then the other smartphones i had.
battery is good.
just keep the brightness at 30%
2 days since I charged my Desire HD and it's at 40%, much better.
Wifi to turn off after 15 mins in standby, brightness at 100%, mobile data is turned off unless I'm out of the house (in that case, I turn off wifi) and that's with Buzz's overclocked 1.5GHz kernel.
I think any time mobile data is turned off the battery life is going to sky rocket!
Fortunately, by using ultimate juice you can automate this - using wifi when available and mobile data at other times without having to manually switch. Better still, this leaves both off unless the screen is active. Made a hell of a difference to my Desire.
i keep mobile data off (only turn it on when i'm out of range of a usable wi-fi)
screen brightness is at 30%
I use "Set CPU" to lower the CPU to 256Mhz when the screen is off.
I get all my mail via gmail.
there's also a hidden app (can't remember how to start it but it's a *# code)
you cna use that to set what type of mobile network it looks for (I've defaulted to use GSM but use 3G when required).
This keeps the mobile form constantly looking for a 3G signal when youre in a bad signal area (or in the bottom of your bag!) But this won't affect data, only voice calls.
The constant looking for networks is one of the biggest drains on a mobiles battery after the screen/light.

I've had about 8 HTC phones in the past few years and I've always been very pleased. Lime many others before buying the DHD I did my research and got a little worried about battery life. I wish people would just post opinions for the sake of it (especially in the first day or two of use) because it's very misleading. After having the DHD for a while now I can honestly say that I'm really impressed with it especially with the battery life.
I previously owned the HTC Desire and at first had much worse battery than the DHD mainly because of the AMOLED screen and it needed some tweaking after root. At the end I was getting at 3 days of battery with all the common daily abuse.
With the DHD I got 2 days right form the start and you know what it's like in the first few days. You pull it out for no reason, play with it, show it to everybody try everything and even so it lasted 2 days. Now that I'm back to just the normal use/abuse I get 3 days with no root, no custom rom or other tweaks.
SO anyone doubting the DHD battery life, FEAR NOT it's a great device!!!
G
I agree great device but could you please put your battery up on ebay for auction as I think you've got an amazing battery and could make Fair few hundred pound from it or even send to htc so they can use as prototype and make all of us replacements that lasts days like yours.
I personally think the battery sucks but with the hardware you carnt expect much more from the battery thy choose for this device.

3 days of use? By my reckoning the main dictator of battery life is screen on time. I find that I get 3 to 4 hours of screen on usage time out of a charge. This would equate to an hour a day to last for 3 days. Unfortunately I use my phone a lot more than that.
I'm not doubting other people's opinions, but I'm seriously starting to think that I got a dud battery or something.

Thanks both Blinkydamo and s0litaire.
Some interesting stuff there, not sure how it will help me if at all but I guess I will have to experiment...
I have HTC's since it came from QTEK.. I had 5 HTC before Desire HD.
Before this I had a HD2 (leo), and matching the most options possible between them, this is the faster draining phone that I had after HTC diamond.
Actually I've always thought that the HD2 due to the screen size had a very good battery.
I've been using desire HD a LOT since it's the first android that I had put my hands on my own, so I can be due to that, but most of the time I getting like 5hours or less from it which is getting me frustrated for the first time. Also there is a problem with this model, they probably won't be able to do a oficial expanded battery with this type of battery slot, due to the configuration.
However, I'll try to avoid touch it too much than the "normal" and see how it goes.. But I'm pretty sure that it's way faster draining than my older HD2.
BTW, I'm using "GSM auto (PRL)"

Tips or What is in your opinion the best rom for battery life for the HD2?

I have searched around the forum but cant find any recent discussions on what is the best HD2 rom, i recently used CoreDroidGBX and i find the battery life to be pretty good on that (Lasts me till end of day with light use (Light use being screen on about 2-3 hours out of that day) End of day being 7:00 Unplugged Low bat around 5-6:00) But i see about 300-500 mA useage when im actually doing anything on my phone(But just like 2-3mA when its off and i disable data)
So i keep experimenting with different roms and i am wondering what you guys have experienced the best battery life with on your HD2's.
Also i have to manually toggle off data, is there a app to auto do it, like automatically whenever the screen is turned off? I had my phone on battery nearly 24hours (Although i was on my laptop and only used it for like 20 mins of phone calls and a few texts) but still a real full day was awesome

Coredroidgbx? There is a Coredroid series by Sergio and a hyperdroidgbx by Pongster. Both get rave reviews for battery. I run hyperdroid and I get 18 hours of normal use no problem. If you consider watching YouTube and flash video all day normal there is no rom that will last doing that.
Do you prefer a sense or a non sense build? GB or Froyo? CM7 or ASOP?

+1 agree.
Thoese are my favorites too.

tried using CoreDroidGBX before also..
smooth... but battery is almost the same as other builds..
In my opinion the best battery life was in unofficial nightly CM7 by charsingh (1-3mA in standby). But due to some issues i had to switch to Typhoon CM, battery drain is notably higher (6-10mA standby) but for me it is the best ROM ever.
I think that the functionality of the ROM is litle bit more important than small diferences in battery drain.
Motoman234's Moto-MyTouch4G v3.3
Nand build and the best I've tried so far. I can get 2 days with light use (text and moderate calls) and a full day with fairly heavy use ie: web for 1-3 hrs and 1-2 hrs of various games along with calls and texting. I call my family on the east coast frequently and a 2 1/2 hour call is not unusual, loose maybe 20 to 25percent on the call depending on my signal. Great rom, a chef that responds and helps, again nand build. totally functional for me no issues flashed 4 different phones to it so far! .
I as a rule, leave wifi on always and use bluetooth, location, and background data only as needed. Blue tooth and background data will suck the juice right out! Still, if I forget and leave those on I can still get a full 10 hr day out of a single charge, provided i dont spend hrs surfing.
+1 for Cyanogen Mod 7. I tried a lot of DesHD builds but CM7 has the longest battery life by far for me. One charge lasts me about two days with light use. With all DesHD builds i never made it past 24 hours. Usually even less than that.
Furthermore CM7 is just beautiful, especially with cyanbreadX
i'm on rafdroid 4.0 and unplugged this morning at 8 am and the time now is 5:30 and i'm at 60% with moderate use and wifi off.
i will say though that if i play bubble blast 2 that thing sucks the battery like nothing and i'm not sure why. it's amost 1% battery per min i can feel the phone get hot from use.
Running cm7 unoficcial right now and seem to be getting good batter life, but I have seen it actually use 700mA (srsly) when just charging ..
But can idle forever. But lost 15% in an hour during lunch...

I just put HyperDroidGBXv7 on my phone a couple days ago and its been great on battery life so far. I unplugged my phone about a 12hrs ago and its at 74%, averaging about 3-4ma on standby. No classes today, so I've only used it lightly today for some quick wifi browsing, short gaming (Angry Birds), and about 30 texts.
Ok been trying cm7 and for some reason when actually using my phone I seem to get a steady 535mA battery useage, any suggestions on fixing this?

Anybody know why my actually using my phone usage is so darn high? I just flashed to the stock rom, reinstalled magldr + Clockwork and im about to flash android again.
Doubt that will help but i need battery life..

I'm using IamGPC's Pure Gingerbread, although hard to get since he moved his updates from XDA, but I have -2MA in standby. It's a 2.3.3. clean Android version.

Comparing gingerbread battery life...

I wanted to start a new thread comparing which GB roms have the best battery life....
I'm running CM7 and battery life isn't that great.

^THANKS^^ battery life on Simply honey 3.8 was pretty good....
This thread is a great idea, but let's put some numbers down rather then, "I get really good battery life!"
CM7: I get about 13 - 15 hours with minimal use on edge network.
Minimal use for me is about 2 or 3 phone calls about 30 seconds to a minute each. Less then ten text messages, very little to no web surfing. Check weather, look at news headlines.
Well, i have only tried CM7 and MIUI, wich is CM7 based, and to be honest, battery life is the reason that i came back to Froyo...just terrible batery life...i can't be charging my phone every 5-6 hours. On Froyo im using Super DragonModz on Project V, and i havent charged my phone in two days, and still its @ 25%...average/min use. Until GB gets good battery life, i might not be using another GB rom as a daily driver...
My battery just went down 2% on a 40 second phone call with my lady. Simply honey. It drains bad. This is my 4th cycle.

thats odd...have you tried doing a battery calibration....
anyways i get 10 hours on Revolution rom 2.0 with moderate use
moderate use -check xda couple times ,on h network always with background data ,some texting,3-4 30 second calls and ocing to 1.2ghz
Yea. I calibrated. I thought it was just a bad flash but after multiple flashes I had the same result.

Blitzkrieg 18 to 20hrs moderate use 3-4 hrs screen time one.
Pretty good if u ask me.
Screenie attached 30% batt left. Calibrated two days ago.
With every type of battery caliberation it takes a few cycles of charges for it to actually work. I use sgs tools and apply script and that deletes battery bin files. But doing that is not gonna take effect right away i hope u guys know that.
Im on cm7 and my battery usage is better then i expected. With me using either google music or Audio galaxy streaming for a 8 hour workshift and texting and websurfing during a lunchbreak and when that shift is done i still have about 20-to 30 % left sometimes as high as 40% But if im not streaming music and just doing normal things like playing cut the rope and web surfing and emailing, texing etc i can go on all day with out a charge. So maybe u guys have a bad battery???
Simply honey 3.8 was eating up 3-4% per hour just idling and much more when actually bring used. Back to Trigger.

simply honey 3.8 has really good battery life i get 19 hours moderate use with kb5 modem and OC'ed to 1.2 ghz
On Revolution Rom, I can get 16-17 hours of heavy use, which is flashing a new build almost every hour, going crazy on the battery life testing. But people have reported about 24 hours of battery with moderate use.
Asgard 3.0 and 3.1 Both are giving me 13-15 hours with moderate use gaming (my kid 45min-1 hour) internet use, tweeting, email and moderate to heavy phone use (20-40 calls per day) and 1 hour of tunein radio.
I got an average of 15 hours on Blitzkreig with 15-20 short (under 3 minute ) calls, 35-40 texts and an hour or so surfing.... plus a little gaming. I am at 5 hours on Asgard 3.1 and 78% battery.

I am running the Revolution Rom RC1 also and I'm getting about the same battery life. It's about the best that I have gotten on my phone, Bionix Final 2.1 aside. Great job, keep up the good work Ali.
Revolution ROM's battery life is pretty good.
Can't compare with others since I've just started flashing GB roms now (I had tried MIUI before but back then the battery sucked so much it doesnt even count)
thanks for starting this thread, it was just what i was looking for.
i used CM7 awhile ago and the battery life was pretty terrible so i switched back to froyo. so now i was looking around again for reports of battery life now after a couple months of waiting, and looks like its still pretty bad. i guess im still sticking with froyo.
but hey i still appreciate all the work the devs do to bring GB to the vibrant
with all the MINIMUM use or HEAVY use
can you guys post the screen on time with it to shows how heavy/ minimum you use....
I've been using Blitzkrieg for a week or so and at first it seemed really good but the last few days it has been draining fast for some reason. I also have had it reboot a couple of times while on the phone the last 2 days. I'm not sure if it's related....
