Hi,
Having problems with mails after upgrade with Gingerbread 2.3.3 (Singapore) using Kies. Noticed that older hot mails after read keep on dumping into phone inbox. I have kept the settings " Recent messages into 25". This my hotmail issue
The 2nd one exchange issue. After read the mail also whenever new mail comes from the notfication bar I could see the number included with older mails. For example 6 mails consider read and when the new mail comes it says 7 new mail
How to avoid those issues? Can I delete those accounts and reinstall again?
Also advise me how to delete the mail accounts?
John
Settings -> Accounts and Sync -> click on the account (for example... [email protected]) -> at the bottom of the screen it will have a button for "Remove Account"
After, you can also go into Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications -> at the top click on "All" -> go down to "Email" -> Clear Data
Give that a shot and let me know how it works!

I'm having the same issue and even tried a factory reset.
I tried a Sense 3.0 ROM which uses 2.3.3 and the HTC mail app works perfect for Hotmail exchange sync. It was only after trying a Sense 2.1 ROM that used 2.3.3 that the syncing problems arose.
I was about to suggest getting nitrality to download the SGS II e-mail app, but I noticed you're running a HTC device. Why are you posting here?

Ok this may sound strange to some of you, but is there any way of getting the junk/spam to go into you inbox, as sometime when i am out and want to check my emails i get all of the normal in the inbox but then i get home and find that 1 or 2 had been put in my junk box and not inbox!!! I would love to be able to get everythink and then i can just delete as needed! Is it a setting in the PPC or hotmail?
Hotmail -> Options (top right) -> Junk E-mail Proction -> Low
Can't seems to switch it off.
Or else,
Hotmail -> Options (top right) -> Safe List -> Add *@* , and it ought to give you all the mails.
You are rather weird. I'm using POP to get my Yahoo mail and the junk mails that have been filtered by Yahoo (accurately) is also being retrieved. I wish that Yahoo will not include the junk mail in their POP.
I have set up my own personal email account in the HD2 - not outlook, just a standard personal email.
Configured all well and good; works fine except for the very poor implementation by HTC which gives the user absolutely no audio / visual conformation that your messages have actually been sent successfully....?!
However, I have it set to retrieve new emails from my server every 15 minutes, but it does this so erratically that I can't trust it. Today I was wondering why no email had come through by 1pm, so I manually pressed 'send and receive' and 8 important emails came through from 8.40am!
So I decided to check the mail settings (again) to make sure it wasn't just me being dense. That's when I discovered an even more annoying bug -
Every time I access my POP3 email account's settings the HTC automatically changes my incoming mail account user name from whatever I saved last time, to just the first 3 letters of the user name.
ie I put in a user name of [email protected] and the next time I view the settings there's only HTC in the username box.
It gets worse still, everytime I also check the outgoing server details, at the same time it also defaults the 'outgoing (SMTP) mail server' to 'use the same username and password for sending email' IN-SPITE of the fact that I have now set this up 15 times and saved it with a different user name and password!! AGHHH!
So, it's very unreliable in retrieving emails (over wifi or 3G or GPRS) and the email account settings need re-setting up every time I access the account settings to check why they are not working...again.
I am very quickly losing faith in this bit of tech, this is my second HD2 handset and it's freezing and crashing more in a few days that my old 3G did in a year. So frustrating!
Does anyone have any idea what's up with the email issue?
Cheers.
Yep, I've seen the first problem you have, where part of the username (more specifically, everything from the ampersand onwards) are truncated. This, and presumably the other problems, seem to be down to the HTC email configuration program trying to be too clever. If you go to Pocket Outlook, by tapping on Inbox when you're on the email Sense tab, then go to Menu -> Tools -> Options, and set your accounts up there, they stick. Annoying bug, but circumventable reasonably painlessly.

I have no Tools in Menu of the Inbox
I only got the account setup when in the sense tab and there i only get to the htc account settings. So how to I get to the outlook settings?
I also had this problem with it not automatically syncing my hotmail account as specified.
The newer 148 ROM seems to address this BUT introduces a number of irratating bugs along with it - depends if you can live with them or not....

Did you scroll the menu up? Tools is in the list but not visible at first.
Hey guys,
I'm running a miri's cooked rom and have accidentally setup a bad email account with Outlook that I just can't delete!
When I go to Settings -> Outlook -> Email, I have 3 accounts listed there. 2 that I have setup correctly and and "Outlook E-mail" right up the top.
When I select it and choose Menu -> Delete, it's greyed out and I can't delete it!
When I try to alter the account settings and leave everything blank, it won't let me hit "Done" unless there's an entry in there.

Trying going into activesync (on the phone) do it in there, you should be able to delete the email account.
menu > option > [delete]
Yes ! it works ! Thanks why_999 !
I have managed to add my account via Accounts & Settings but only options to sync contacts and calendar. BUT when selecting synchronize -nothing happens - says its been synced but no contacts nor items in the calendar appears!
When going to Mail app and adding my mail account same way it says that it cannot connect to the server. WTF - does the exchange not working at all?
Did you try
Settings > Accounts and sync > under Manage Accounts > Sync Calendar / Sync Contacts "Touch to sync now"
you can set your sync settings here, did you enable Push and auto-sync?

You might need to confirm if there is any issue at your Exchange server (but Your Exchange Admin will never admit
ok, let's take 1 step back, and do some fundamental check
1. did you manage to login to your Exchange in the phone? (you should get a pop-up notification if you failed)
2. did you send any email out?
3. did you manage to receive any email?
It is working with HTC Desire so the answer is yes, my Exchange server is fine
any idea which firmware you having?

update: JM2 is fine with Exchange but eat battery a lot
A friend just got a Droid 2 and she is having fits trying to get her default Google account to sync calendar & contacts.
Contacts is showing in the Account Sync settings & is selected, but Calendar does not appear at all.
I was going to remove the account & re-do the setup, but it would require a hard reset & she doesn't want me to do that!
I know that Verizon transferred info to her Droid 2 and wonder if its the culprit.
Suggestions?
Matt

Check settings -> battery manager -> Battery mode, and select performance mode. Could be battery manager not allowing data transfer.
Settings -> Applications -> All -> Gmail -> clear data. If the above doesn't work.
This has happened to me and those are the things I did to fix my own problems.
Make sure Gmail is downloaded I was reactivating my phone after updating Fission once and the market wasn't finished downloading and Gmail didn't show up in the sync menu at all like you described. After it was installed I just went back in and selected sync (because it was in there then).
