[Q] no buzzing during boot&shutdown? - Acer Iconia A500

Can the buzz during boot and shutdown be disabled without modifying the rom?

I don't believe there are any native settings to disable that motor when shutting down or turning on.

I couldn't find it either. I hope someone has a solution. It's bloody annoying when i switch it off after i finish reading in bed and my wife is already asleep.

screen turning on

Hi All,
I have been having trouble with the phone.
The screen has been turning on by itself and not turning off. The screen will not turn off until i hit the power button. It will not turn off until the phone is out of battery.
Is anyone else having this problem?
thanks!
Want to bump this up ... having the same issue. I've uninstalled nearly every app (at least the ones I'd think would be problematic) and it's still happening. I've downloaded Spare Parts today to see if I could figure it out but I don't have enough data yet.
Anyone else have this issue? Even when I press the lock button, I sometimes need to press it multiple times to get the screen to turn off.
I too am having this problem and boy does it suck battery lol

Do you guys have power saving mode enabled or disabled? Just curious, since that's one of the only things (in addition to message notifications) that affects the screen.
can it have anything to do with automatic updates?
i never had this issue. before or after root. i just rooted two days ago
I had this problem before and after root. I also did a factory reset and I thought it was fixed ... but now it's doing it again.
Happens w/ Power Saving mode enabled and disabled.
I've figured out a semi-solution to this which seems to be working:
With Advanced Task Killer:
Enable Auto Kill Frequencey "When screen off"
Set Auto Kill Level to "Aggressive"
Set Security Level to "Medium"
Don't forget to put any apps you don't want killed in the ignore list (like WidgetLocker, your music player, etc.)
This seems to keep the screen locked for me ... but I still can't figure out what app/process is the culprit in waking the screen when it goes to sleep.

Geofencing, My Places, and the Annoying Sound Issues

Hi all,
I'm having an issue with my phone staying silent. I enabled My Places for Work and Home. Essentially, when the screen is off for a certain amount of time, I go from Vibrate only mode to sound mode. It doesn't seem to want to stay in Vibrate for more than 10 minutes. Moving around my office will cause it to change.
The same happens when I'm out and about and set the phone to silent. Instead of retaining the setting, it decides that it should turn notifications on. This is obviously annoying if I'm trying to keep the phone from intruding during a movie or a meeting.
I'm running 935U.
Anyone?

Screen won't turn off during phone calls

I use my phone a ton for calls , imagine that .
Lately when I put a call on speaker, the screen will not turn off. It will not time out and even if I press the power button to shut the screen off manually, it just comes right back on.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so have you been able to correct it?
p.s. this has only been happening in the past week or so and I can't think of anything I did or any updates that would have caused this.
Thanks
I'm experiencing this same thing. Tried multiple things and even did a hard reset and the issue still persists. Very annoying.
I found a workaround where if I come out of the phone app, then I can lock the screen.
got the same thing. i read something on AC( think it was) regarding the calendar notifications not allowing the screen to go dark too. i wake up, my phone is super hot if i have an all day appt with a notification. did yall find a fix to this? the other forum mentioned possible connection to samsung pay.
Having the same issue. The screen does not turn off when holding the phone to my ear or when I'm using bluetooth headset.

Enough Vibration

So I've seen posts about this a time or two but why can I not get the vibration off. Turns off just fine on most custom ROMs and on APB2, but on stock oreo especially it DOES. NOT. TURN. OFF. Here is what ive done:
1) Turned off the haptic feedback in settings
2) gone into notification preferences at turn it off
3) gone into Emergency settings and turned off
4) gone into phone and message app and turned off there
5) used the appops com.android.stopfreakingvibrating set VIBRATE ignore
6) used xposed module to adjust vibration
7) turned off vibration in EX Kernel Manager app
ive heard this is a known bug. If true the apathy from the google powers that be should be ashamed. Plus, whether its the Hz rate or the ceramic or something else, the PH-1 has the most obnoxious vibration of any phone i've ever held. Unless I go to the extent of changing ROMs I cant get it to go away. Forgive me for wanting a phone to , you know, work. Somewhere in all of my pissing and moaning this post is to ask the question how do i turn it off, like really turn it off? . I'm anxiously hoping someone has an answer .
