It was mentioned that when network bars go from grey to green, it means you have connection to Google servers. This was new info to me... and a post linked in that thread, from another forum, said that the info was included in the user manual. Anyone have any idea which manual this is? I didn't get anything like that in my box, and I found one on Samsung website which contains no info about those signal indicators.
I have noticed that sometimes my 4G signal indicator shows 3 dots, and I am curious what that means as well. I would love an answer from official documentation of some kind.

Apparently the green icons only mean connected to Google for syncing account services (email, contacts, etc). There is really nothing there to suggest phone updates are pushed from google servers, as is being said in the other thread.
Also... the one icon I was wondering about (4G with 3 dots instead of bands) is not shown in all the options.

hi, for some reason the front screen is convinced i have an email that i havent read i.e its got a little green circle with a one in ontop of the email symbol. i have three email accounts and all are empty but the symbol remains ?? any ideas ??

yes , i tried deleting all three accounts and setting them back up but that still didnt work............
There is a small tool around here (FixUnreadCount). But I do not know if it works.

voice search crippled, 4g slow, slow keyboard input & FB sync probs. please verify
Title says it all. I have tried everything in my power and knowledge to fix these issues. details below.
1) My voice search used to call people in my contacts. now it won't do ANYTHING BUT search the spoken keywords in the browser. ive read that you must have your contacts in your google group and not in your phone group for this to work. It has worked for me before. This hardreset I put all my contacts in the phone group bc when fb will actually sync, i don't want to have 4030343 contacts syncing to my gmail account since this epic does not give you an option which contact groups to sync or export to a vcard (annoying). I am about to do my 5th hard reset to attempt to cure this newly arisen problem
2) I have had full 4g bars in the Austin, TX area and the fastest LOCAL speed test results would only achieve ~900kbits. Isn't this so called 4g (or pre 4g) supposed to be roughly 3000-4000kbits/sec? 3g is typically over 1000 around here...probably calling Sprint tomorrow about it or going by the store (and wait half my day away).
3) keyboard- love it but seems like when I type too fast my screen can not input the characters fast enough. Anyone else experience this?
4) as many ppl complained - my fb contacts won't sync. It happened once but I had to do a HR and 4 HRs and one pending later, no luck. Read it was FB servers on other phone forums.
Anyone have these issues? Any solutions? Please help. I am spending way too much time troubleshooting...and here comes my 5th HR. can't wait for ROMs so I can root and rid this evil touchwiz or whatever its called crap
i dont have 4G in my area nor do i have facebook SYNCING problems (facebook notifications is a whole different story) BUT i do have the keyboard not catching most of my letters typed.
I tested 4G in the Nashville area and consistently saw 3-5 Mbit/s. Looks like you might be in an emerging area there. Confirm response problems on keyboard. Once had contacts sync problem, they resolved themselves automatically.
While I haven't tried this personally, I hear Vlingo is an excellent alternative for those of us not on 2.2 yet (all of us running stock for now).
Thanks for the replies and confirmation guys. Hopefully flashing a new ROM whenever that is, will cure our keyboard issue. I am sure its software related.

Did you ever find the fix for this? My Epic 4G is doing the very same thing ... won't even search for files or apps on the phone using voice search. Will ONLY search spoken terms in the browser. Quite annoying.

Me too, I just signed out of it, not only that it makes you "miss" certain notifications (like if someone at 00:12 "likes" your status, then someone comments on a separate photo at 00:20 you'll only be shown the photo comment as it quashes the previous "like")

I have read comments on marketplace about people having these issues and decided to not upgrade for this reason. You can always roll back to version 1.4 if it bugs you that much. I believe its available on android central if you search for it.
log in to facebook.com on a pc check your settings to make sure you dont have notifications checked?

It seems to only go online when you enter the chat panel.. As long as you log out from the chat screen and never go back into it, it appears to stay offline.

Notifications remain the most annoying thing with the app. It regularly misses notifications and will even set missed notification to read so they don't show up on the PC either! Also, it seems to refresh the panel every 5-10 seconds which is annoying
There is a bug report screen in the "about" panel which will report straight to the developer.

Every android phone I have used its phone>contacts>settings>sorty by> last name
I do not see the sort by in settings now and have scrolled through all the settings and still can't find it.
This is a must for me and I'd hate to think they just removed this setting. I have the verizon model.

Probably related to the verizon model, present on my international at least.

Or did you just check it through the phones app? The settings menu stays the same if you just change to the contacts tab there (for phone therefore), you have to open the dedicated contacts app to get its specific settings.
Contacts "Sort by..." not present
My phone is not showing any option to sort contacts by surname (or anything else). I have a S7 SM-G930FD which I've rooted, running Android Marshmallow v. 6.0.1, build no. MMB29K.G930FXXU1APD1. Going to Contacts>More>Settings only gives four options (Import/export contacts; Contacts to display (i.e. account/source); Share multiple contacts; and Service numbers.
Can anyone shed any light?
Incidentally, it's also not showing any of the stock Android ringtones...

I too have the same problem with my unlocked SM-G930FD. Sorting option is missing from Contacts/More/Settings screen and no where else to be seen, e.g. in Apps manager.
I have the same phone as yzfreeman above.
Have contacted supplier and Samsung and await reply!

I have the same problem and would love to hear a solution. Samsung tech support told me this 930FD software is different than the stock they sell in Germany with only one SIM
Solved it!
Go in the application Contacts (orange icon) not phone.
From there you go to Settings and after that you'll find the setting SortBy.

I cannot get it to send.
What I think is happening is that the watch is trying to send the message via Verizon and their Verizon's Message+ app that I have disabled.
How do I set the default to google's Messages app that I use on both the watch and phone?

FYI yes, I can send a message normally via the watch and the app and yes I can reply to texts when they come in.

I legit don't see that with my watch, can someone post picture or 2, upgraded to Wear 2.7.0 and android 7.1.1 on watch.

Things listed is not possible with my wear 2.0 update either. When you click on sim info with newest update, the app gives an error for no connected to verizon(something like this)
Was possible with 1.5 or whatever it ships with.
Again, I am on the SAME version as you.
It works for me.
Have you disabled any apps?
Or, changed any settings that may be causing this error.
Also, try to get the error message in it's entirety.
Maybe a photo?

Maybe try turning on or off cellular service.
Maybe try restarting.
Try a few things. It should work, because it works for me.
But, sadly because it works for me and I am on the same version, I'm not the person to help you.

Here's what I see.
You may have to do a reset?
Fyi I already have it disabled. (Start vs stop)
No 3 dots here either, bummer...
Had to do a factory reset, i disabled cellular and all verizon stuff. Must be misunderstanding what you typed, I found it after clicking on side button once and scrolling down for sim info, I was going under settings/apps/system apps which is wrong lol.

So this indeed does work - BUT - what if I WANT LTE data on the watch and to be able to send an SMS vis Google Assistant? Any ideas on that? I seems like Assistant is trying to send via the default messaging app and it does not have 'permission' to send via LTE. So either the messaging app would have to be Messages+ or the permission granted. The solution is above my knowledge of Android.

I agree with you. Disabling LTE altogether is NOT a solution but rather figuring out how to reassign the default messaging app may be the answer.
Unable to send text via assistant after following steps
Hi,
Thank you all for this thread! I just got this watch and followed all the steps mentioned. Unfortunately, I'm still unable to send texts via the assistant as it tries and the gives up saying " could not connect to phone". The same can be seen in the notification panel where it shows that it's disconnected from the phone. I've tried everything including a factory reset, deleting carrier and disabling all version apps. you should try and install the stock google message app in your phone, it worked for me and try to keep your watch in wifi it can also help
I did it it changed the messaging ("through Phone" from "through watch") but neither sends a message ( i am using the google messaging app) " says couldn't connect to your phone" nor calls (still says "through watch") Any thoughts?
