Overclocking Sprint Tab w/GB - Galaxy Tab General

When we got the stock GB upgrade, I found myself missing my ROOT and of course the BAUXITE Kernel.
Well we got the ROOT back quickly and now Thanks to Mr. Eui Woo Jeong we have overclocking. TEGRAK ULTIMATE overclock on the market website now supports the Sprint Tab w/GB.
Life is good.

I'm just cruising through at 1.2 no volt adjustment. Just "ONDEMAND".
No issues....

Did you mean the non ultimate version?
The ultimate version is $ 1.99

The ultimate version is not working for me. It does a checking stability for 300 seconds and never counts down for the Set on Boot option.

What are the best speeds to overclock to? I am over clocking to 1.1 ghz and it keeps locking up and freezing
I guess I can't support the widgets that I would like to without it being too slugish
Sent from my Sprint Galaxy Tab

I've noticed that oc'd past 1.2 my performance drops. It runs laggy and 1.3 benchmark scores were half that of 1.0 UNLESS I plug it into the wall. Is the battery not able to keep up or it it being undervolted?
Also, using this app, any thoughts on undervolting at 1.0 to increase battery? I would imagine undervolting won't fry anything, just maybe lock up, so is ot safe to experiment?

1.2 seems to be spot on for me.

I will be definitely trying 1.2... The reason I didn't try that before was because I feared it would Surely kill my battery life.
I'll give you guys feedback... I also wanna know how long you guys batt life lasts on 1.2?

Works amazing on my Sprint GTab! Runs at 1.2Ghz without a problem. I only got the free one. I'm stingy like that.

My Tuppence
I've played around a lot with the paid version of tegrak.
Free version works fine at 1200mhz max for me and I got the following AnTuTu results
1000mhz stock (Gingerbread 2.3.3 and Odin root, 32gb micro sd installed too) - score = 2676 = rank 56752
1200mhz - score = 2676 = rank 51544
With paid Tegrak I've managed to tweak up to a max of 1228mhz before it got unstable and rebooted, here are my results.
1220mhz (core voltage increased to 1325mv from 1300mv) - score = 3097 = rank 40166
1224mhz (core 1325) - score = 3130 = rank 39620
1228mhz (core 1325) - score = 2890 = rank 47433. So a drop in performance at which point I gave up testing further.
I'm happy with these results for $1.99.... pretty substantial update in performance. Plus going from an AnTuTu rank of 56752 to 39620 an improvement of 17132 in the rankings I'm happy.

[Q] How do you get a linpack score above 45?!

Hey guys I was wondering, how do you guys get such high linpack scores! my hd2 is running hyperdroidcm7 version1.0.4 and i have my device's cpu oc'd to 1.19...... ghz and the best the thing can do on linpack is 44.something mflops and on pongsters thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=769026 , he shows a score of 52.051 mflops and how the F! ive tweaked and tweaked and the darn thing wont climb to 45 mflops ( which is still pretty damn decent considering the clock speed) Just wondered if anyone can help thanks!
Anybody?

I run both builds testing and always get around 40-45. You can get 50 but you won't notice a difference at all. Try using a kernel that supports 1.5mhz oc. Antutu benchmark is a much better indicator of overall system performance.

I use linpack quadrant and that one and linpack tells just CPU megaflops. Why I used it for this.

Quadrant score

What rom has the highest quad score for the vibrant?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Depends on many factors, not just the rom. There's also the Kernel, OCing, UVing and even the launcher.
Highest I have had without an overclock was 2456, and that was on Simply Galaxy v3 RC3 (Port from i9000) with all the tweaks engaged. It was very very fast. Faster than any other ROM I have used, even with overclock. Hell, if I could OC with that ROM I would bet that I could break 3000+ quads easy. But quads are worthless. You just have to try using the phone with the speed of that ROM. I didn't know the vibrant could be that fast.
Running Trigger right now. Get anywhere from 1400-1600. Runs ok. Was just wondering what some of the other Rome were capable of. How is the Simply Galaxy rom? I personally don't know anyone who has used it.

2750 Quadrant.
Darky 9.5 Froyo 2.2.1 base rom, 1.48Ghz Bullet Kernel linked in my sig.
Phone is FLYIN. Gingerbread 2.3.3 builds can go higher (but have bugs).
I got a Quadrant of 3300.....!!
I was using my TI-83 calculator with a tic-tac stuck in the DC in slot!
2000 flat w/ bi winning V2 no OC w/ voodoo. VERY FAST though. Quadrant doesn't give it justice.

I have a 3500 quadrant. On top of that, my battery increases 2% every hour as a result.
I'm running Android 3.3 on mine. 4700 quadrant score and when I plug my usb up to my laptop the phone charges it.
5000 with a V8 hemi under the hood!
With the battery in, I get around 16K but I only get 8K if I take the battery out.
I'm using the FBS ROM.
Speaking of Quadrant...It sucks

I second this.
So useless of an app, it has nothing to do with the actually smoothness and snapyness in any phone. Sometimes I feel it's scores are the other way around, the lowest you get the better your phone is
I'm a total lurker, but after "bricking" my vibrant about 3 weeks after getting it home last Fall and discovering the fix here, I've been tweaking, wiping, flashing, odining, and having a helluva lot of fun with it. I'll probably betray myself as still being a noob, but I see everyone kind of poo-pooing Quadrant as meaningless (and other benchmarks, it seems). Is there any objective measurement that you guys consider worthwhile?
I thought I was all hot **** for breaking the 2K mark, but I guess none of that matters?
Trigger 3.2 with Bullet 1.42...just added bullet, so currently OC'd to 1.2 while I get a feel for what the phone can handle.

On Biwinning with o.c. I am getting 2580 ....... but it does not perform ant better than leaving the clock @ 1000 so I leave unclocked ......... I get great battery life then...........
Quadrant is amusing...
but it's not always telling of how a rom actually performs. Back in the day when we were using the OCLF, quad scrores were in the 2k range and that was with 2.1
That being said, I felt compelled to post this anyway, mainly just to show the cpu score improvement that we get with gingerbread. My phone was running Cyanogenmod7 at stock speeds. Comparing quadrant scores between roms that are all based off of each other is pointless.
The 1815 score is from CM7
The 1755 score is from MIUI
MIUI performs great, but it's not as buttery smooth as CM7. But from the two scores you wouldn't see that. More importantly I think this also lends to what I said about comparing two scores between roms that are based off of each other.

[Q] really slow a500/ quadrant score 656???

Hi,
as i'm using my iconia a500 i noticed some heavy Performance issues. i rooted and installed several Roms but my Quadrant score keeps being low. right now i am on lightspeed 1.0.1 with Richard's Kernel and my Quadrant score is only 656!!!
i'm really curious about this any suggestions?
thanks in advance
kiark
Just a guess, but the cpu probably is not running full during the test. Might have to use a app to force to 1000 during the test.
Running 2.4 kernel? If so, the default intersctive scaling governor is borked so either use setcpu to change to on demand or flash back to 2.3. Im personally running 1.6ghz as max speed with on demand.
thank u very much, setting the cpu up with setcpu worked!
CPU really does not have much effect on quadrant score. It is the combination of the Rom and the kernel it self.

IM using the xoom 3.2 rom
My acer is over clocked to 1.5 and here are my benchmark scores.
Useing Quadrant I got 3421 (best of three runs) and frame rates around 45
Useing Linpack I got 45.438 mflpos on single thread in 1.85 seconds and
71.53 mflops on multi-thread in 2.36 seconds again best of three runs
Useing AnTuTu Benchmark I got a score of 6159 and frame rates right at around 60 fps
Useing Vellamo (its new and a benchmark tool for a tablets browser to see how ell the browser performs does things like java and flash stress tests and load speeds of web pages) I got a score of 1072

not sure on this. if it doesnt have much effect why do you see such a huge difference between 216 Mhz and 1.5 Ghz clock speeds in quadrant?

Who has their tab overclocked?

Who has their tab overclocked?
And if so at what speed?

OC @ 1680 on thor's with no undervolting and no issues. getting overall scores in CF bench 8600-9100 with no overheating.
OC to 1400 with richardtrip's. Never had any problems. Using Setcpu and a screen off profile to knock the speed back when the screen is off.
i'm running 1.4ghz
I'm running Thor's 3.4 @ 1680 with supplied voltages and no problems as stated above.

at 1.4 do you notice any actual improvement, did you have a reason to oc in the first place?
im just asking because my a500 seems good at just the 1 ghz on richardtrip's
I'm using richards at 1.5.
Some people are at 1.6 but mine reboots after a few mins at that speed
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA Premium App
I'm in the same place. Using stock 3.1 ROM with richardtrip's kernel, and 1 GHz seems fine to me. I had it at 1.4 for a while, but ultimately didn't really see a need for it.
Thor's 3.4 @ 1.47 GHz without any issues. For me, this is the best compromise between performance and power consumption.
Best regards, maris
OC to 1.4G, getting 3871 score in Quadrant,
so far so good as a balance between performance & battery life

Same here, I'm running v3.4.
Stock 3.1 ROM with the last version of the custom kernel that supported 3.1. I go from between 800-1500MHz. Depends on what I'm doing. Reading in Kindle? I'll go down to 800Mhz or even lower. Watching Youtube videos, I'll crack it up a bit.
V2.5
Running Richard's V2.5 on stock 3.1 @ 1.504 ... very smooth AND stable
Marcher
1.5 and no issues. Marked inprovement in app response.
Taboonay with Thor

(MOD) Adrenaline

I seen this on one of the Samsung Forums while looking for my girlfriends phone and Root instructions.
I have not installed it yet, But will test as soon as my phone is done charging
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236779
Trying it now. Not any real noticeable difference so far. Quad scores are the same. Running G3D with Ziggys newest.
Good find tho...... maybe this could help some people out if their phone is lagging.
Thanks
I'm running liquid vigor and imo 4.1.0 @ 1.4ghz and this killed my phones performance. Quadrant scores went from around 2500 to about 1000, and linpack went from 50ish to never getting over 30.
