Here is a flashable zip file of all the AOSP sounds/ringtones/notifications (to this date). This zip was made for Clockworkmod Recovery, but might work on Amon (I haven't tested this) I requested this to use on a sense rom (MikG) Thanks Preludedrew for making this for me!!!!! Hopefully all the sense users out there that are stuck with some pretty weak tones can find this useful. And always remember to DO A NANDROID BACKUP FIRST! I am not responsible for what happens to ANYBODYS phone!!!!!!!
Just wanted to say THANX again to Preludedrew for making this zip for me!!

Ithink you can, but it will mess with your songs and if you place .nomedia file, it would not find these files the best solution is to flash

Dunno about that, I already did something like that for a different set of ringtones. I placed it in ringtones folder and it didn't show up in my song list on the music players I use.... Thanks
----------
Would be much better to have a zip of the sounds so one could pick and chose which sounds they'd like, put them on their SD card, and not have to worry about the space and flashing them all.
Just sayin.
Stock phones
I have the HTC EVO 3D...how could I get these on my phone?!
First you need to root. Revolutionary is an easy way to root. Then flash through clockworkmod recovery and reboot! EZPZ
Nice

This is a collection of audio files from several ROMs from several phones, including:
CDMA Hero - 1.5
CDMA Hero - AOSP 2.1
CDMA Hero - Sense 2.1
Motorola Stock
Samsung Stock
There are almost 200 different sounds in this collection! Tons of variety!
Also note that this frees up some space in your /system partition! Always a good thing!
Copy the .zip posted and flash it just like any other update.zip. This will delete your current system/media/audio folders (with the exception of ui) and place the repository on your sdcard. BE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH SPACE ON YOUR SDCARD BEFORE FLASHING THIS!
Updates:
Included additional sounds from here
Created an update.zip to automagically delete current system files

There is no need to put the files in /system/
You can make a /media folder on the SD card and it works the same... *AND* the files won't get hosed with every ROM reflash.

I tried that first but then all the files show up in your Music player. I also tried putting a .nomedia file in the folder but then they didn't show up at all.
This is the only way I've found that works completely.
Dont put it in your system folder. Create a /media/audio/notifications or /media/audio/ringtones folder on your sdcard. My ringtones and notifications are seen in these folders.
Gregalous said:
I have created a collection of notifications, ringtones, alarms, and general UI sounds from every ROM that I have ever used (1.5, 1.6 and 2.1 w/ & w/o Sense) all into one folder. This gives you a huge amount of choices for ringtones, notification sounds, etc.
The .zip posted contains a folder called media. To use the sounds, unzip the attached file to your tools folder and from ADB:
Code:
adb remount
adb push media /system/media/
Give it just a second (as there are quite a few of them) and when it's done copying it will tell you. Reboot once finished.
I did not do an update.zip because quite honestly it's much faster and easier to do it through ADB.
Enjoy

Again, the reason I put those instructions up is because when I had tried putting it on my sdcard, the files would show up in the music player.
Besides, you can use the files however you want, I'm not forcing anyone to put them into /system, that was just my recommendation.

You went to phone ringtone/notification ringtone and there wasn't anything there? If done correctly there should be a very long list to choose from.
Did you reboot after pushing?
Ok so after further testing, it turns out that the only files that show up in the music player are the UI sounds. So I just deleted those (since they're all the same in all the ROMs I'm pretty sure, plus no one really cares about those) and now it works just perfectly when you put in your sdcard.
I humbly admit that I was wrong This should work better now, especially for those that were worried about using up /system space.
First post edited with new directions and .zip.
awesome! Thanks so much for making this! After RMing the media files from the system I gained like 20mb's that can be utilized in running apps and such. You're the man!
I tried installing this by putting them on the sdcard, and all of the sounds show up on the list, but everyone option I chose plays the same song on my sdcard :|
Ideas?
did you RM the system files? Mine works fine.

I merged your folder with the original media folder and rebooted but they do not show up...??
in case anyone is having trouble with this, there is a very clear post on how to do this here:

hey,
I wanted to extract "Torch" application from "Azure" Rom and few other applications. as Torch is the only working app which did really enable the LED for HTC Legend.
I actually opened the ZIP package to path \azure-1.0.1.zip\system\app where the applications are stored, every app comes in APK and OBEX files. I extracted few APKS, non of them worked.
I am seeking some help for extracting the application from the ROM.
Thanks in advance!

Any other LED torches that works with LEGEND?
*EDIT: well, I found it, its named Lamppu. but anyway it didnt work, although my phone is rooted! why is that?
Try Extended Controls, there is a Torch Widget which worked on my HTC Legend. (NOTE:Root access Required For this very Widget)

If you find a ROM that has both .apx and .odex in the app-folder you will not get it to work by only extracting the .apk file.. You need both of the files in order to include them in another ROM..
Use a backup program like Titanium backup or MyBackup pro: they will extract for you.

You mean like after loading the custom ROM, I backup the application I want then restore them after I load the custom I want?!
This is just long process of backing up your data then load custom rom, then back to the old rom, then root then restore...
I thought there might be easier and shorter ways?!
Any help would be appreciated. Gracias!

Scout around in the .zip to find the package you want, copy the .apk to your ADB directory and then, with the phone plugged in:
Code:
adb install [I]path-to-package[/I].apk

To be honest you've answered your own question. What you've done is the easiest way to pull an app from a ROM. So if your issue is something else it may be an idea to re-write your question (again, I know. Sorry).
I also apologise for mis-interpreting your question the first time 'round. I hope my help in this post is better.

Your help so much appreciated mate!
Well, the last conclusion I got to is, the .apk and .obex files are actually one file but they were divided to 2 files just to make them work better, so if you take the .apk file only it wont work as it will be missing the other .obex file.
Anyway, I am also guessing there is a way to merge the 2 files back, I read a little about "de-odex" but I couldnt really get the best help I could get. I will post the solution once I get to it.
Thanks again for your help mate!

I have successfully rooted my Evo today and I have successfully backup my phone with nandroid and then successfully backed up my stock rom. I have now downloaded VaelPak-v2.2-HTC11-3.29.651.5.zip and I am lost from here. I have unzipped the folder but do not know how to get it installed on my Evo. Any assistance will be helpful! Thanks

Put the zip on the root of your SD card..boot into recovery...flash the rom...reboot...enjoy.
Detailed sequence is generally in the OP for the rom...
Do not unzip the file!
Place zip file on the root of the SD card and flash in recovery.
Issmer beat me to it!
Just an FYI.. vael is not a SENSE based rom, so you will no longer have use of any HTC widgets.

Root is the topmost directory - "/". When flashing a new rom, make sure to wipe data, cache and dalvik cache.

ok i am going to try it right now. what about later having to unzip the zip file and dragging specific files to the sd card to get certain things to work on my new rom? i read this somewhere
This us why you should read before you root, everything thats in the zip will be installed onto the phone. There is no need to unzip unless you know what your doing. Additional apps can be downloaded from the market or installed by a file manager.
ok it was a success. i am back up and running and it really looks great. all of my apps are gone!!!!!!!!!!!

No offense to the OP but this made me chuckle. It reminds me back when i would talk people through doing a windows restore. i would get this same type of response no matter how many times i told them what a restore would do and to back up files. A little off topic, but this doesn't make me chuckle as much as people who reply on a new rom thread and say "this rom is great. One problem though is wifi no longer works. Nor does the camera, gps and I can't make calls. But I love the rom so far." Or even better, "I love this rom. Super smooth. One issue though, when trying to flash it I get error at line 5 and then the phone sits at the splash screen."

As someone who came from a Nexus One, I prefer to flash on the go. I usually take a Zip I have on my phone with ua_redbend in it, edit the update script on the go and drop the appropriate Modem.bin or zImage into it. But for those who haven't done this on the go, all you'll have to do is unpack the tar file most people upload, drop it in the respective ZIP file below using an appropriate program on your phone (unrar, astrozip, astro file manager for a few) and use Clockwork to flash on the go...
Of course, I am not liable for any misflashing that may occur, I just thought that this would help out on the go...
The folder to drop your respective file into will be the kernel_update folder.
Enjoy guys! And flash on the go Go GO!
Edit: Works as well with Infuse. It saved my Bacon when making my 1.0 Infusion so that I could reupload it quickly.
I just download the files to my computer that are flashable with clock and copy them all onto my sd and flash while i drive lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
That works too. I just thought that everyone would love to have these.... I love being able to flash anything anytime without sitting down at my computer.
Thanks bedwa, ive been looking for a method like this! All I ever really have to use my ext. Sd for is priority files and a handful of things for post-flash care such as my ever-so-loved launcher 2 apk, setiron's kernel, and a few others so when I help someone flash I put my sd in there phone and install the basics.
So I just drop zimage in w/ no edit?
I appreciate it. Thanks.

Download the respective zip and drop it in the "kernel_update" folder in the zip. No other work needed..... I just wanted to make it quicker for others to do this on the go....
so is there a way for this method to restore my captivate back to JF6? i'm on a mac and don't have access to windows all the time, so one click back to JF6 isn't a common option for me
Thats a bit trickier.... I would assume that you could redbend the whole thing, but you would need ALL the partitions and all the proper locations. Though it may be easier with hiemdal.....

Idk about JF6 but I've been using the stock OTA UCJH7 as my jump-off for flashing ROMs. I always do it through CWR and (as long as I remember to disable lagfixes) I've never had a problem.
Made my phone a damn good brick by forgetting to disable the lagfix and trying to flash back to stock, but as long as you're not as dumb as me you shouldn't have a problem.
When I first got the phone I spent hours trying to get my computer to recognize it in download mode before eventually coming to the conclusion that I was having hardware problems in my USB ports. I've only ever used Odin to go to stock *once* and I did it on a friend's laptop. So, figure that you and I have about the same access to Odin. I feel pretty confident with this on-the-go method of returning to stock and flashing.
Edit:
Also, now that I think about it, you can probably find a stock JF6 update.zip to be used with CWR. You may even find it somewhere linked to that thread that I posted.
This seems very interesting.
I came from the HTC Legend background and i was always flashing on the go then. I bricked the Cappy when i tried flashing on the go (as i was so used to on the legend).
However, looking at your files, i really have NO IDEA how to use this.
Could you post a step by step guide as to how to use this?
Would be great if you could dummy proof this so users like me won't mis-flash.
At the moment, i'm looking at your files, and i have no idea what order of flashing should another custom rom be.
However, i can only assume that these files are flashed BEFORE the custom ROM?
As in -> recovery -> Kernel & modem -> Custom Rom.
In this order?
These aren't flashable update.zips they're just guts to insert into a pre-made update.zip.
As far as on-the-go flashing with a Captivate... it's the only way to fly ;D
Still confused on how to use this
so the kernel is the zimage file in the update folder, is that correct? and the modem is the modem.bin? those are the files I would need to replace

I would very much like to try this but am a bit confuzzled Can I download and flash or do I have to do some adding and things. I"m under the impression that I have to mod some more after I download these... would be quite nice to have these w/ the stock zimage or whatever already in the zip...that's just me..mostly because I'm at work and would really like to reflash a rom right now.
Someone please post a step-by-step guide to using this please...

Dude! Never be afraid to ask (but if the answers are on the website and you didn't do a proper search, expect flame on!).
Anyway, assuming you are on AT&T, you should have downloaded a file called CleanROM-1.1.zip . If you didn't get that one, go here http://www.scottsroms.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=464 and download it. Check the MD5 to ensure the file is not corrupt. Do not unzip the file! Just transfer the file onto your phone - it doesn't really matter where, just remember where you put it. Then reboot into recovery (assuming you have already installed TWRP) using whatever app you like (I prefer GooManager), click Install, navigate to the rom you just put on your phone and you're good to go.
Good luck!

I'm coming from an SGS2 that I rooted and messed with for the 1st month and never flashed anything since, so I'm pretty much starting over with this ROM stuff. Thanks for the help though!
EDIT: I'm gonna ask another noob question: Do I copy just the img file or the META & System folders too?
