Hello all,
Been reading thru the forums but haven't yet come across something that I may be able to use.
Well, yesterday my phone started updating 12 programs... battery ran out, and it shut down. I got home, charged it and turned it on, everything was ok. I went to read a text message and boom it shut down on me.
Now, when I hit the power button, it goes and stays on the MyTouch 4G splash screen. Or I can go into the Hboot screen.
Factory reset doesn't do anything
Recovery doesn't do anything
Please let me know what I need to do to either rooting it/flashing a new rom, or recovering/flashing back the factory rom on the phone.
Thanks in advance!
Here is what the HBOOT screen says:

Edit: Would like to add that I have not flashed anything to this phone.
When loading Bootloader, while checking the files this is what is displayed (for less than a second):

check clockwork and see if you're getting the recovery.log error.
If you are follow the instructions here:

Worked like a charm for me.
That thread linked to a cwm update thread for the droidx...

Thanks for the input guys, much appreciated.
Like I had said earlier, since I have not rooted or flashed the phone, I went ahead and called T-mobile and got them to replace my phone!
Hint: Don't believe store employees, they're crackheads! There's a reason why T-mo phone customer service is ranked pretty high!
EDIT: They did send me to tech support, but because the phone won't even boot or respond to hardware reset, it was an easy process.

I went though some of the forums and didn't quite find what I was looking for, BUT a friend on Reddit pointed me over to this forum for help. I loaded Engineerings SPL on to my phone and when I booted up the phone I got a totally new boot screen saying "HTC Magic" After about 20 minutes I realized my phone isn't going to boot at all, I thought no big deal and tried to unroot my phone with the unlocker website and the sapping.nbh file failed during installation. (The last two items had an odd error) BUT when I rebooted my phone it now had the green mytouch 3g loading screen but again failed to boot. And thats it, this is where I am stuck.
I Have a My Touch 3g 3.5MM jack phone and I was simply trying to load a custom rom onto my phone, I can access fastboot and the android recovery console (Thing for wipe and update.zip from sdcard) But everything I have tried fails! I am really starting to stress out about this but a I was told it doesn't seem to be very serious if I can access all the menus like that. If you need anymore info I will be checking the thread regularly. Sorry for causing the trouble I am probably just another pest who made a dumb novice error , for that I am sorry. But if anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated.
EDIT!: Also I forgot to add I have GoldCard from before my phone broke, not sure if this will still work but it might help.
Post there all fastboot info, ALL.
Also the outcome of this command done in fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot getvar version-main
When you refer to "the android recovery console (Thing for wipe and update.zip from sdcard)" do you mean android stock recovery or custom recovery?
Im trying to get the data from that fast boot thing but Im kinda new to all this in order to get that data I hook my phone up to pc with usb cord start up cmd prompt and type
cd\
AndroidSDK\tools\adb
then type in that command? Kinda lost on what im doin there.
And how do I find out if it is stock or custom? it has the symbol for the FlashRec app in the backround though if that helps.
But the stuff on the top of the fast boot is.

What did you do after getting that link to get your phone fixed? That way if someone else gets stuck in the same boat they'll know what you did.

Hello, my HTC Glacier has been stuck in bootloop and the only thing I can access is the HBOOT.
I tried the following:
1. Unplugged the battery leave if for a minute or two, then plug it back in.
2. Unplugged the SD Card while rebooting.
3. Rebooting through HBOOT
These steps above didn't make a difference.
When I entered HBOOT I also received the following message:
SD Checking...
Loading... [PD15DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading... [PD15DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading... [PD15IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading... [PD15IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading... [nv.img]
I had some instances where I was able to get out of bootloop, but when I tried to enter recovery mode by rebooting the phone then I get stuck in the bootloop again.
The bootloop often happens when:
1. Connecting my phone to a USB port (mac)
2. Connecting my phone to a car charger
Thank you so much for any assistance/help that you can provide.
It sounds like you may have the PD15IMG file on your SD card. If that is what you are trying to do, it may be a bad download. If not, delete it off of your SD Card or make a folder for it. And if it is not on there at all...well I don't know what to tell you on that.
Just now I unplugged the SD card and when I entered HBOOT, I no longer receive this message:
SD Checking...
Loading... [PD15DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading... [PD15DIAG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading... [PD15IMG.zip]
No image!
Loading... [PD15IMG.nbh]
No image or wrong image!
Loading... [nv.img]
But when I tried to enter the Recover or reboot it from HBOOT, I got stuck in the booloop again.
Download full stock PD15IMG.ZIP
Put on SD card
Reboot to bootloader
It'll ask you to update
Allow update
If everything is ok - you get the stock ROM back
If something isn't ok - your phone is dead
The procedure has been documented and explained multiple times, searching the forum with the right terms will help you find everything you need to either restore your phone or determine that it's done. Exactly the same thread with exactly the same question is currently on the first page of the forum.
also agree w/ jack.... read the dev forums... resource bible in dev forum
I truly believe a phone could never be bricked with all the awesome info in the dev forum.... first .... LEARN ADB! and use it to install the latest CW recovery on your phone... next boot into recovery... volume down plus power at the same time.... choose recovery..... when you get to recovery... should be orange... wipe everything... factory wipe... cache wipe... go to advanced wipe dalvik and battery stats... go back and look for mounts and then format everything... cache, data, sdcard, system.... then plug in your usb cable to your computer and copy whatever rom you would like... i prefer doing footballs 2.2.1... that way i can re-root... ***make sure the rom is "PD15IMG.IMG"... then unmount.... go back a few in recovery until you see power down... then power down... pull battery... replace battery..... power into bootloader ( volume down and power button at the same time ) then sit back and let it do its magic... when it asks you to update... select yes.... let it do its thing..... that's it..... no more bricked phone..... enjoy and re-root.... but seriously..... read all the info in the dev section.... lots of really good stuff!
The link to guide for solving bootlooping/freezing MT4G or determining its death (and unluckily, most of those WILL be terminal cases and the phone WILL be determined as dead beyond any repair), is now in MyTouch 4G Wiki, under "Troubleshooting". The link to (updated and sorted) Wiki is in my signature.
corrupt pd15img files?????????
Hello,
I am having a similar problem. I have an htc glacier (mt4g) and it is stuck on the reboot cycle. The phone will go to either fastboot or hboot but I cannot navigate with the volume up or down to choose any options. The phone goes to the bootloader screen and it will load the PD15IMG file and then asks if I want to update and I can press up volume to start the update. When it finishes it gives me the error main version is older. I tried with another file from a different source and it runs through the update and then says to press the power button to restart and then shuts off and opens back up to the boatloader screen. Is it the file that is the problem or something else all together.
On the bootloader screen it says:
glacier pvt ship s-on
hboot 0.89.006
microp 0429
radio 26.13.04.19_m
emmc-boot
jul 15 2011 16:45:17
also when doing the update the phone skips over #7 tp is that a problem? Please help if you have any knowledge of what seems to be the problem.

A problem like this is happening to my phone.
After my phone successfully used the PD15etc, it rebooted to the splash screen and never advanced even after leaving it like that overnight.
(this is after using this guide without getting any problems http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912)
And we have the same phone specs
think you bricked it, not sure though
yes i figured it out i posted this in the wrong section , and in Questions and Answers , i used my insurance and received my HTC Sensation today
You have to unzip the pd15img.zip using your computer. After unzipping, you have to move the pd15img.nbh file to the root of ur sd card. Then boot your fone into fast boot and it will read the .nbh file and ask if you want to run the update (although its really a downgrade)
Don't push the pd15.img zip through adb, manually copy it over. When you push it, not all of it is there.
If I helped, give thanks, if you please.

So i have this HTC Glacier or mytouch 4g, however u call it, but im trying to find out how to fix it, I go to that HBoot screen, (Btw im new to this forums thing and this mytouch phone, my present phone is the samsung solstice so yea..) So i go to the HBoot screen and go to factory reset and it was starting to do everything well as it seemed but then it did nothing and everytime i try to do it again, it just takes me 3 androids skateboarding, and if i turn it on normally, it goes to the green "T-Mobile mytouch 4g" logo with a white BG, and if i do recovery, it shows a mytouch 4g phone with a Red Triangle and a Red exclamation point, idk about the whole SD Card thing but i have my own SD card with no folders so if theres something i need to put, please tell me specificly. Read just about any troubleshooting guide that you'll see. ALL "welcome noob" threads have it, in both General and Q&A sections. Wiki has it, link in my signature. Google has it, if you search. TONS of threads. Please do your homework before you're asking the same question for 100000th time. The keyword "PD15IMG" will guide you.
Unfortunately it seems as though you powered off the device in the middle of performing a factory reset. When you thought it was doing nothing, it was working, just not that you could see. Next time, have patience and wait until it tells you it has finished.
You will need to download a stock RUU or PD15IMG.zip and place that on the SD card. After you place the PD15IMG.zip on your SD card, boot into HBOOT. It will look for the PD15IMG.zip automatically and will give the option to install the update or cancel by pressing the corresponding volume button. Run the update and DO NOT turn off your device. When it completes, it will prompt you to press a button to restart. Press that button and you should have your phone back.
Before you ask, the files are available in the Development section. If you can't find them, you shouldn't be messing with this type of activity in the first place.

I think you have the right idea i was just about to say the same thing just try to reset your phone with the stock update and that should have the phone back to factory settings in total
So I have spent several hours looking through all the threads related to this problem and have had no success with any guide/instructions.
My phone gets stuck on the splash screen. I can get into HBOOT and if I select "Factory Reset" or "Recovery" in BOOTLOADER the phone will just freeze up and not do anything. If I do a "Reset" or "Reset Bootloader" in FASTBOOT it still freezes up.
I tried the PD15IMG.zip and it works well until it asks to update. When I press yes, it shows "-Updating" next to [1] BOOTLOADER and then freezes up (I have left it for 45min and it hasn't changed).
I looked at the IMAGE CRC and the codes in the PD15IMG.zip don't match the ones on the phone (I don't know if that's relevant but just letting you know)
This is the info in HBOOT:

Pretty much no matter what I try and do in HBOOT the phone freezes up. Please help this is driving me insane!
EDIT: The PD15IMG.zip file is the 2.2.1
Apparently it has worked for a lot of people without any problems...that's why I don't understand why it's freezing up while
"updating"
You should have found multiple mentions of the following:
If this file gets stuck updating, just as if it's showing "Fail-PU" - your eMMC is dead.
And you probably found them, but didn't want to believe your eyes. But you'll have to. Your phone is a brick.
