SD card on Desire HD - Desire HD General

When I installed LeeDroid 3.21 I followed instructions and I formatted SD and made partition.
Today I downgraded my phone to stock 1.32 in order to use easy radio tool and to det super cid, sim unlock and radio s-off
i did it
now i wanna give a try to revolutionary hd 5.21 and decide should i use it or continue with leedroid.
In clockworkmod i formatted sd card and when I mount it on my PC I se external disk with 6.44GB capacity.
Does it should be like that?
I doubt that partition which I made before has not been deleted when I format sd
i have no sd-ext option in clockwordmod
thanks

can anybody tell me do you see 6,44gb from windows 7 on your dhd or more?

solved
i formatted card in my photo camera and it's ok now. I see 7.40GB
thanks to everybody

[Q] How to Partition SD Card

Searched before, never did found a good tut for partitioning a SD Card with Success.
Like to partition a SD card to ext/swap/fat32 properly.
Also always wonder, can I install apps on to SD card fat32 partition or ext? rather than the Cell build in memory?(myTouch 3G 1.2)
Can some one point me to a good tutorial to do this?
Or a video tutorial?
Cheer!
ND
Use the option in your recovery image. I think AmonRA's should work just fine.
The ROM your using will decide whether you can install apps to FAT or to EXT partitions. Honestly I would use the EXT partition out of the two because if loaded to FAT you'll lose your Alps when you unmount your SD card. Honestly you've got plenty of internel storage so you shouldn't need it.

[Q] MagLdr Android SD Card Problems

Hello guys.
I have a HTC HD2 running Windows Phone 7 (on MagLdr 1.2).
I want to DualBoot Android AND WPH. Ive watched a tut on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTHRAUHZHlo
I did exactly the same and after that i took this Android DesireHD Built: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881937
It worked fine but android said, that there isnt a sd card in the device. Of course it is, cuz android boots from the sd card. When i remove my sd card, android freezes (of course). I tried to restart and i put the 512 MB data.img in the folder but there was the same problem again..
I tried it with an other card and i pushed the button "mount sd card"
and than it said "u can take out the sd card now" (or something like that)
Plz help me!
I am having the exact same problem. Have you found the problem/solution to it.
thanks.
you both update you magldr that should fix your issues.
so get newest radio, than flsh magldr 1.3
before you update make a complete backup!!
hope you both have the right partition layout on sd card.
(first partition must be fat32 second ext3 or ext4)
hope this helps.
for tut look at forums or pm me!!
Can someone describe the exact steps that are required to mount the SD card when the Android build is being run off the SD card using MAGLDR.

They are running Android from their SD card. It is not going to show a SD card being in the device because Android thinks the SD card is the device......

This will not help them at all, MAGLDR just serves as the bootloader for Android not the OS.
Allso you can not remove your SD card will booted into Android if you are using a SD card build it is running of the SD card not NAND.

So basically I cannot mount the SD card, no matter how it is formatted ?
I totally have this same problem. Neither WP7 or Droid will read the 16 GB card I'm using to run Droid. I think I'm using the DesireHD build also, maybe its that? I can probably see if changing it makes a difference.
I have the same problem. First time i installed WP7 and android, everything was working fine. Then i had to reset WP7 because it kept freezing, i followed the same steps again to dual boot with android and it booted fine but SD CARD is not mounted for some reason. I have tried 3 different android builds with same problem. Any help or tutorials?

This happened to me too with two SD cards. What I did was I run the Partition SD Card from AD Recovery. I forgot the partition layout, just find something that works for you. I was surprised that it has successfully created a partition...this erased everything so I needed to re-copy ROM files to SD card via Card Reader on my PC.
When I did it over, It finally worked. Am now running Sensation XL ROM.

[Q] Original 2Gb SD card partition

Hi
I just sold my Wildfire, but before I sold it I formatted and deleted all the partitions that I had made and reset the phone to factory settings.
Now the guy can't take pictures because the application says "sd card not found".
Could it be that I didn't partition it right? It's a 2Gb original samsung sd card that came with the phone and I partitioned it like this:
~1.9 Gb Fat32
Should there be a swap partition also or an EXT to get the OTA 2.2 froyo to work with Apps2SD ?
Thanks!
No, you don't need any swap or ext3/4 partition in order to get ota, just plain fat partition. He should use a card reader to erase the partition and create again, maybe it will work.
my phone came with a sandisk sd card
Let's him reformat the partitions again, or you can use the tool from rom manager. Maybe you didn't format it right

tell him install ruu from shipped roms. and format the card just by plugging it into pc.
Hi,
Always worth trying the obvious first, is the sd card in the device properly. When I got my wildfire it wasn't and I assumed that I would have to buy an sd card to take pictures etc. I was surprised to find when I look to see what type of card I needed that there was one in there already!

after the second boot the phone got stuck and i had to take the battery out in i wanted to start all over from the beginning.
when i went to format the SD again my Windows didn't find it nothing i did.
i i used all the partition application i know but nothing - no SD or dead sd.
i also installed Gparted and boot from the live cd but still no SD.
i installed original WM 6.5 - buy fuss what - still no SD installed.
i don't know what to do??????
i installed also android on hand and tried to format from the android but still - no SD installed.
is there some magic i can do?
or my SD is dead?
i hope i can fix it......

your SD card is locked.... BTTF lock card and that card not readable.... you must unlock card first... send unlock cab file to phone and after that you can format card (or use old Nokia phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242071)
if you want dual boot without worry about locking card, try use Pdaimatejam Rom or DFT UltraFruit
also you have video how to dual boot android and WP7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
Hi
you have to use "ultimate boot cd", boot on, find your sd card and format
hope this help
Thanks
cannot read sd card

Did i brick my SD card with WP7 ??

Hi together,
i was very happy with my HD2 and WP7 Mango using a 32GB class 6 SD card.
Then i flashed my HD2 back to WM6.5 and send it back to Vodafone for a Hardware support issue.
then i tried the 32GB card with a cardreader in Windows. Nothing happened. I Neither see the normal 200MB partition in Windows.
I used severel Partion Software (Partition Manager, Partition Magic, SD Card formatter, magldr SD clear etc). But i can't see my SD Card plugged in.
Today i installed again WP7 on my HD2 with another SD card and it works. I put it in Windows, and i see the 200MB partition an i can format this to its whole space.
So what happened with my 32GB card, and how can i format it back, that it will work
edit:
i also followed these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913144
but my sd card is not getting recognized
I had the same thing; where the card isn't recognised by anything so therefore can't be formatted to a blank state.
The solution for me was hard resetting the phone (Volume buttons while WPH is booting from MaGLDR) with the sdcard inserted which makes the system recapture it.
That should render the card usable again, but FMI which ROM where you running initially? My problem (and solution) came from Xboxmod's BBTF Rom.

@gregory90
the cab method worked fine
i got my 32gb card back *jibbieh*
Use the disk utility in mac osx, and restore the card to 1 partition, and FAT format.

What you need to do is to flash Yuki/XBmod v2.1. Don't need to update any further...can use base 7004. Install StorageLock.cab from XBmod's thread. Unlock the SD card. Turn off phone...don't reboot...remove SD card. The SD card is now accessible to repartition
