my phone rebooted the other day back into stock 2.3.4 grj22
now im trying to find root access again but i cant.
the phone is unlocked but it will not let me run flash clockwork or even flash super user.....
has this happened to anyone or can anyone tell me how to root it again please
thanks
I believe this happened to me also, had used 1 click root. Didn't do it right the 1st time. Second time it stuck. Long story short, try using the root method you used to to root again. If that doesn't work check out 1 click root, make sure you read up on it. Its pretty much automated , but a user like myself might be dislexic and mess it up . Make any backups nessesary before hand.

Ok, i just heard of the one click root app now out for the nexus one.. I always wanted to root, but every time I did, i was never able to get it. So anyways back to my questions...
*[1] I have stock froyo frf91.. I manually updated all the versions leading up to frf91 not once did I receive an ota update... Once I root, will that cancel my ota's? (even tho I manually update them) will I still get an ota update to gingerbread if I root?
*[2] Once I do this root thing, i want the best rom that includes a fast, clean, eye candy, all black theme. (Including the notification bar) after I find this, how do I go about and apply it? How do I install it?.. Isn't there an app in the market where I can look at the newest roms and themes and just apply them from there?
Sorry for the noob questions guys, i just want to witness what all of you have.. I want to unleash the potential of my nexus one! Lol.
** On a side note, i also heard that once you get a cyanogen rom, it is a must that you download the titanium back up app.. is that right?.. because that rom deletes everything...?
Thanks guys, very much!

Never heard bout the Backup thing issue,
But No, once rooted you dont get OTA's (due the fact you change recovery image and rom)
I believe if you still keep things stock like Recovery, and Official ROM you do! (but unsure of this)
Also there is a adb way to root which is simple and thats how i rooted my phone!
you can give that a try instead of one click!
there are no roms in market..
Also try to look through the Dev section, to even apple Dev roms you need to flash custom recovery then do a nandroid back up, then from ther you use the apple from sd!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736271
this is the method i followed
-note if this is gonna be your first time rooting, i suggest you read all info possible bout it, then read it again.. the think on how your going to do it , then reread the info then apply.. while applying stil read the info
woah there. He'll still get the OTA notification and can even download it. You just can't apply the OTA updates. You have to use a rooted one, generally available here before you'll ever even see the OTA notification on your phone.
if you are rooting for the first time do it the loop adb way. Its a bit more involved but once you do it you will learn a bit about adb and other methods that you will need in the future.
One-Click root is going to make the more fun parts of modding harder in the future. The guide in the stickies is very easy to follow and it will pay off in the long run.
Or fastboot oem unlock it and have the badge of honor
That's the thing, i've tried doin it the adb way.. it just never worked for me..
And I also don't want to unlock the bootloader

this way should work like perfect, the other way with pulling sdard way seems kinda over that top for me..
Yea.. so if I use this one click method, i can use custom roms and themes?

Yup, I did that yesturday, there are a few more steps after rooting to get custom roms to work but you can do it.
On another note, cant you just flash back to stock, then using rom manager get rid of the custom recovery, then unroot using the 1click root? Wont that put you back to stock? cant you use the ota's then?
The AndRoot app is awesome. U can turn root ON or OFF anytime (even for ota).

and wear it proudly! fastboot is a cinch and pretty hard to ef up. the worst part is the syntax (especially if you dont have the recovery image in the right directory). i found this link to be helpful in learning how to use fastboot.
i used fastboot to unlock and to flash amon ra. then, running amon ra, i flashed whatever ROM i wanted. later, just for s and giggles i used rom manager to install the clockwork mod recovery.
if you dont like the outcome, you can always flash back to stock which will redo the stock recovery too... but the unlock badge will remain proudly displayed.
when i try to use visionary perm root, it F**ed up my phone...
i get the visionary temp root loops
Tired rage method it didnt work either.
i searched up no real solution there.
(someone said i need to downgrade, but i have S-OFF and cant not get temp root, so its a no go for me)
G2 got OTA already and i can boot .. just cant root!
can someone help my friend please.
Do you have super user installed? And what exactly does visionary do when u try and root it?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
no super user installed
visionary just keep saying rooting please wait or something like that, sometime it just exist itself out and no temp root, sometimes it will stay at that rooting screen for hours, sometimes it went to a black screen which i have to take the battery out.
tried factory reset in fastboot, no luck either.
only thing i have there is S-OFF...
note : i can temp root before i tried to perm root with visinoary r14
Look at your running apps (in the manage application menu) kill everything that isn't stock. I was having the same problem, and when most people weren't complaining, thought an app of mine might be causing a conflict. And it worked for me, so try it out.

so you have S off now? Can you get to recovery? If so download and flash a rocovery image like clockwork. After you get clockwork flashed just download and flash whatever ROM you want. They will all have root for you. If you cant get to recovery do a search for visionary boot loop fix. There was a whole post on the steps needed to fix it.

First off, let me explain what's happening. Just by my post title you are probably thinking, use the search button. I have and will, but my situation might be a little different.
I had unlocked my phone, rooted it and installed cwm in the past. A friend of mine came over this past weekend and offered to install a custom rom on my Atrix as he did with his and he would show me what to do to update it, restore, or try different roms later. Well I had to leave for a hour and while I was gone he messed something up. He had then essentially returned my phone to stock. It's no longer rooted and when I start my phone it no longer says unlocked. Do I need to go through the unlock process again or can I just root and install cwm? Can anyone tell me where I should start?

Have to flash pudding again. Then install cwm and play from there. Most ROMs here are pre-rooted, so no need to root anything.
Thank you. That's what I will do.

I got my G2 used and didn't even realize until a few days in that I was already using CleanROM and had root. Been using it like that all along and only just tonight did I stumble across some old threads about how initially there was a root method that involved some weird Chinese exe file that people eventually feared might have installed spyware and decided not to use anymore. I just assumed all along that the previous owner had used the Loki method as that was the only one I had ever heard about. I realize I could just follow a guide to fully reset my phone, but I would hate to go through all of that for nothing if my phone is safe. Plus I seem to be one of the people who can't seem to get debug mode/adb to initialize on a Verizon G2 when plugged in so I'm not even sure how I would go about using the LG flasher a tot file to fully reset my device.
So far all I tried was installing Titanium backup and making sure I didn't see any frozen Chinese language root explorer app that apparently gets installed on your phone when using that old root method and has to be frozen afterwards.
Is there any thing I can specifically look for on my phone that would hint at which root method was used?
yep there is a way. boot into download mode and here you will see phone status unrooted or rooted..
There is no way to see what method you are using, but as far as i know, you have loki method of rooting. Cause you have another ROM, and only loki patches boot, so you can have TWRP and all that stuff. Why do you want to reset the phones root? If it is working, don't use LG tools, cause i saw some people (but only on D802) who complained that they got stucked in bootloop after using LG tools.

Not if its rooted, HOW its rooted.
Thanks Devs. From my VZW G2.
Don't believe there's a way to get root method.
If concerned, maybe go back to stock and redo the device with the other method?

For peace of mind, I would backup what u need to a computer, flash stock (handy to know how to anyways) and re-root. Least then u know for sure. Just my 2ยข

Try that
ioroot25 should do it!

Thanks for the reply, I have been trying to root with ioroot the problem is that it doesn't reboot to recovery when it gets to that step. I even Tried the manual method he posted and it only manages to flash the little green android for a second before booting like normal.
