Hi there,
I just updated my Bell Atrix (unlocked) to v37.23 and am looking for root options. I had Gladroot before but it looks like it won't work on v37.23.
Any suggestions will be appreciated and thank you!

Just thought i'd pass along the latest experimental version(wireless_tether_2_0_5-pre7.apk) of android-wifi-tether now works with the stock 2.2 kernel. Specifically, I am running fresh 3.1.0.1.
Downloadable at http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
Should add that -pre7 does not work on netanarchy 3.7.7. Although -pre6 does.

Can anybody else confirm this?
not working for me
Working for me on latest fresh rom.
I assume you mean stock but rooted?
Works for me. Rooted official 2.2 release.

Exact same for me. I'm back to my evo utopia with the wireless tether update last night.
Posting this on my laptop, wireless-tethered to my Evo using 2.0.5-pre7 with stock 2.2 kernel (Stock.32Kernel) and Fresh 3.1.0.1.

How did you get a rooted copy of the OTA 2.2 update?

You might want to visit the EVO developer's forum.

I'm going to have to check this out. Have they found a way to root if people have already done the OTA 2.2 update?

Not yet. If you already have root, however, there are a lot of ROM options to choose from in the Developer's forum, including a stock 2.2 with updated radio and wimax.
Odd
Anyone else noticing it drops the connection to the device after about 15min?
Hi guys,
as you know, today htc released ota froyo update for unbranded legend.
There are two updates available: the first one is from 2.03.405.3 to 2.05.405.2, and the second one is from 2.05.405.2 to 3.15.405.3.
The question is: once you updated to 3.15.405.3 version is it still possible to root?
Thanks
No.
Sent from my PC running Linux
And so... I will whait!
BlaY0, thanks for reply!
No sweat m8...
also hboot version changed from 1 to 1.01
Sent from my Legend
I would have the original Legend Froyo 3.15.405.3 ROM only with root. NO customization (like BlaY0) or other... only and simply the original 2.2 rooted.
It's possible?
so theres actually no way to root a device thats updated to froyo? not even a way to roll back to 2.1 or something?
i got froyo with vodafone branding

Will you be so kind to make a vanilla froyo zip (without root and others optimizations) for use with dsixda's kitchen? Because i can use that kitchen, but i still can't create vanilla froyo rom for it from old RUU and that damn OTA's.
(You know, people are different, so they're want different customs, not the only devs think what will be best).
what about unrevoked? it seems to be the method of choice for rooting the Desire?

unrevoked doesn't work on Legend, the crew does not have a Legend phone to work on.

I think will be awesome, the original htc update (not vodafone because not include all languages, etc) only with root permissions. No kernel no h-boots etc, it's possible?
Or, how we can do it (making hands directly into the code)?
Very thank you.
Hi,
Is there any chance to have at least soft root for Froyo?
Universal Androot doesn't work anymore.
Thanks.

Hi all! I've tried the Visionary+ app by modaco on my HTC Legend Official Froyo, but the permroot doesn't work, only temproot works... Anyone has my same problem?

More than likely you'll have to AND back to froyo
Anyone seeing a failed update? It made it through the download and rebooted probably went a quarter of the way and the triangle with exclamation point rebooted and reported failure.
went back to froyo and now im running .596 ,,,,, kind of a hassle but im good to go now

Are you serious????? You were too Damn lazy to search the forums and google on how to fix it? This is the reason we have locked bootloaders. NEVER root your phone again if you aren't going to try to find out how to fix it if it breaks

There's no root available for the OTA.
I am on a Thunderbolt but I am helping some friends today upgrade to a rooted version of GB using P3droid's method listed previously in this Thread. My question is, during the install while in CWMod recovery do I need to format system/data/ and Cache and then Mount system before installing the individual zips? It isn't clear to me in the instructions. A response would be much appreciated, Thanx

What version is the dx on now? If its already on leaked gingerbread then just flash the deodexed .596 update... If coming from any custom rom or stock froyo then wipe data and cache, I didnt mount

Thanks to jcase for the RUU
Thanks to Retrokid223 for the deodex ROM
Adrynalyne for Busybox
Keeping it simple. We all know what this is. This is the OTA update rooted, deodexed, debloated.
All VZW garbage removed. HTC bloat still there minus the Stocks app.
To do:
Full list of removed bloat.
Desensed version.
A "lean" debloat is also being worked on where everything non essential to Sense will be removed.

Looking forward to the desensed version. Thanks for sharing. Just checking, custom kernels are still a no go at this point?
Sent from my Thunderbolt using Tapatalk
As far as I know, custom kernels on this specific RUU are not compatible until a new source is dropped.
Ready to download!
downloading now. Are the radios included?
Side question, which version/app of wifi tether should i use with this?
Gotta try this one.... If it still reboots.... Sad face

No, it's a zipped ROM, not a full RUU with radio. Not sure on wireless tether, as I use the built-in one on CM 7
Great work! I had gone through and done a little debloating myself, but this got the things I missed.
I just used Wireless Tether 2.0.7, works great on this ROM.
Thanks again!
this is exactly what I was looking I'm currently not rooted. I will root just for this rom but I have a question, will my current radio work or do I need to flash a different one ? I'm came from a droid 2 so its a little different for me on the tb any help would be truly appreciated thx !

Did you take the most recent OTA (over-the-air) update? If you go to menu >> settings >> about phone, what baseband version do you have?
I have a completely stock phone with latest update. my base band is 1.39.00.0627r latest update is the 1.70.605.0 I like sense but hate the bloatware so I'm eager to run this =)

1.39.00.0627r is the latest official radio, so you shouldn't need to flash a new radio in HBoot, except I believe the rooting and S-OFF process still involves downgrading in HBOOT. You might want to see if that thread (should be a sticky, IIRC) has been updated with the new base ROM.
thx for such a quick reply I'll look into it

Much appreciated, sir. Now if HTC would just release that kernel source...
Ok, anyone who chats with me on AndIRC knew that this was coming and also know why. Thread closed. Current work will be maintained on RootzWiki where I've been spending most of my time anyway. Continued support and development there for my stuff.
Just got the phone and I saw some 4.2.1 roms that I would like to install, What should I do to flash them?
phone information:
android version 2.3.4
htc sense version 2.1
software number 2.32.531.1
everything is stock and unrooted.
I saw a lot of tutorials and I'm very confused.. would really appreciate your help.
Downgrade to 2.2.1.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_glacier
Use the "ultimate S-Off" guide stickied in development to root and get S-Off.
Flash clockworkmod or 4EXT recovery.
There is a ton of information on all of that, including any problems you may run into. If you can't find the answer to your question, search more.
Thank you very much. you helped me a lot.
got it rooted and installed cm 10.1 working very smotth.
