[Q] Battery drain & Power off problem - Focus General

I recently bought Samsung Focus from eBay. It has two problems. First, its battery has huge drain. It don't even last for a day. Secondly, there's problem with power functionality. Whenever I power it off it automatically reboots itself instead of powering off. I did hard reset as well but the problems are still there.

You might want to explain a couple of more details like if you are trying to power the focus off while charging it will turn right back on. Also, you can try the official roms located in the in the development section and reflash the rom. In the about section what version of wp7 are you running ie. nodo, pre nodo, mango beta. Also, did you do a full reset in the settings section, through the diagnosis app? You might want to try a full recovery through the diagnosis app. Instructions are in the diagnosis codes thread stickied in the Focus general section.

Also would be helpful if you gave a few details about the condition. New? Used?
I'm going to guess used.
The original owner may have improperly charged the battery all the time. Solution? Buy a new battery. They're pretty cheap. Be sure to look for Samsung Galaxy S batteries as well, since they're the same batteries as the Focus.

If it were me, I would start by flashing the original ROM on the website... you never know what the original owner did, maybe he/she improperly tried to hack the phone and did something.
After flashing so you know you are dealing with a fresh install I would disable wireless/Bluetooth if you do not use them regularly, I would then suggest getting a new battery as already stated.

It's used phone. It becomes warm even in sleep mode. I guess it keeps on consuming battery. And instead of powering off it reboots, even if not plugged to charger or pc.
I think you guys are right; I should try reflashing it. But I never did this thing before. Will it go back to original state, like when it was locked to at&t?

The reboot instead of power off isn't normal.
I can think of 2 things to try:
- Find someone with a Focus and try their battery in your phone (also your battery in theirs)
- Reflash
I can vouch it will stay unlocked, the flash doesn't affect NCK (network lock) - I had to do the same as you
GL and I hope it's not hardware.

Thanks guys for you guidance, but unfortunately even after reflashing I still have those issues.
I used "Samsung i917 Focus firmware UCJK2 AT&T USA" to reflash my phone. The phone has gone back to 7004 state but the problems are still there.
Do you think I should do reflashing with "Samsung i917 Focus firmware UCJK3 ATT USA 4K" this time?
I'm going to buy new battery to see if the new one works. But what do you think, is problem with powering functionality?
Thanks.

I think you should try to go warranty on this. If the board/power adapter assembly is bad, you would just waste more money on this by buying another battery. That's why I suggested find someone to swap batteries for a day.
Reflashing with another Rom isn't going to change much and will just take more time, as this is clearly a hardware issue, this is clear by now.
Maybe drop in a AT&T store and ask for some help? They might know this issue and provide more help...

TOUCH HD keeps turning itself off

Hi Guys, i have a strange Problem since a couple of days.
The touch HD turns itself off after some minutes. I have to take out the battery and put it back in, otherwise it will not turn on...
i have:
- deactivated automatic shut down in power settings
- deactivated today timeout
- tried hardreset
- tried another rom (currently dutties final)
no success :-(
i have absolutlely no clue what could cause this and how i can fix it...
help is highly appreciated.
hello there , actually maby its a virus or there is problem in SPL
Try to install again the SPL modified and tell me
best regards
ms4cah
unlikely it has anything to do with SPL. it was fine for months, i had not flashed or installed anything.
it seams dead now by the way. i cannot turn it on again.
i also tried a new battery. it doesnt even charge, no light at the power button. nothing.

Sounds like a warranty claim
I am getting the same problem!! is there anything i can do to fix this? anyone figured out the reason?
I had this sort of problem.
The HD would hang, then switch off, then to get back on I had to remove the battery for a while. Sometimes it worked after a minute, other times I had to leave the battery disconnected for longer.
So I performed a hard reset and it switched itself off during boot (after successfully resetting).
Battery out for a while.
H/R once more. Again crashed during boot but not at the same point as previous.
Tried a different battery with a full charge - same result.
Tried to re-flash a "very popular" custom ROM with USPL. Got to 1% and error. This was because the HD had crashed..
Tried to flash the official HTC ROM and it got to 15% and error. HD crash.
So I have contacted HTC and they are sending a courier to collect it so they can take a look with a view to repairing it.
The last ROM I successfully loaded about 2 weeks prior to the start of my problems was a custom win mo 6.5 rom. As I couldn’t get it to a stable state - I couldn’t flash the official HTC ROM.
I’ve convinced myself it’s a hardware fault rather than any software damage..
Although I fear I’ll be in for some bad news.
mine too
Hi,
I have the same problem.
Mine was doing hard reset and after a day or two the same problem.
Now I cannot turn it on.
I will send it to htc...
Crossing my fingers.
I had the same problem with mine...
While turned on, it automaticly tryed to turn of, as if something was pressing the on/off buttom. Everytime that message for turning it off poped up and I just couldn't control the on/off button anymore.
I tryed everything and nothing worked. It really seemed a hardware and warranty claim issue. However, since I bought it abroad and it does not have warranty here in Brazil, I just decided to sell it (obviously warning the buyer about the issue) and to buy another one (which is working as a charm).
It is a hardware issue, for sure...
So my HD has been away at HTC for nearly a week, and im currently tracking its return journey, due to land back here at some point this morning.
I have had no contact from HTC so its going to be a suprise as to whether anything has been repaired.
My hope was they couldn't turn it on at all - thus replacing the bits n bobs inside, replacing the main board containing my 6.5 ROM.
So for now im hoping "no news will be good news", but I will update this when I have it back.
... I've the same problem...
Hi, I've the same problem. Do you have any solutions?

Just recieved delivery. The service report states:
1. Diagnosis
2. Replace Main Board
3. Function Test
Result
Confirms it was a H/W fault and my "flashing" did not effect the warranty status. That may have been because they couldnt get far enough to confirm so.

Other than a Warranty repair, im afraid not. Try your best to get it back to HTC official software, then report it as no power / cant boot.

Good to know, confirmed h/w issue
i simply deactivated automatic shut down in power settings as mentioned in the first post and unistalled a couple of new programs i had recently installed!!
Not quite sure which of the above worked.. but atleast for now it seems to be working fine!! the screen has not turned off by itself and i have not had to remove battery etc to get it to work again!
I'm not quite sure if the problem is properly fixed but it has been a few days since anything occurred!! so fingers crossed!!
mine was doing this last tuesday, each time i went into my pocket for it, it was turned off, then i hard to do the reset pin or remove the battery, it has been ok since, i just thought, maybe it was me, pushing it in my jeans i might be turning it off.
also using duttys popular 6.5 latest rom, i dont think its fair to blame his rom, as mines ok now, maybe i should reflash it again?? im still waiting for a new version to be released.... JESUS!!! just looked it up to r12, im on r9 .
oh no... no it not..... says to go here, and it will be released here and not on dutty throy???

FYI, Throy is releasing roms exclusively to HTCPedia now, so no future roms will be released on either XDA or www.duttythroy.com
wow!!! i never knew!!!! thats crazy as his own site duttythroy wont be used.
im getting it now, but only 11 when it says 12 is out, either way, i will still flash i love the roms, i will be sure to be on all the site, incase theres another change of heart??
anyway guys i will report if i noticed the shutdown thing happening again with the version. 4mins till downloaded.....
I think theres a couple of different issues here. My own problem was due to faulty parts in the hardware itself. Absolutley nothing to do with any ROM, only reason I mentioned them was because of the invalid warranty possibility.
If your problem was ROM related, Im sure in the relevant ROM thread, there would be many people (everyone) with the same issue. Thats not to say that its not some sort of conflicting software you may have installed after the ROM flash.
Some simple troubleshooting steps:
1. Hard reset - If it still has a problem...
2. Flash Official HTC ROM - If still a problem...
Phone HTC.
All the best, hope you manage to get something to work for you. I know how lost I felt without mine!

Your exactly right. Some people experience similar symptoms which are rom related others have same problem which is hardware related. One can only be fixed by HTC as motherboard problem, other can be rectified by different means without having to send device back for repairs
Hi again,
Today I have received an sms from HTC service informing me that my HD has a circuit problem and they will fix it without any charge.
I have to wait.

[Q] Suddenly won't boot, help

I have a Galaxy S as shipped by Bell Canada. It doesn't have the 3 button download mode so I'm staying away from 3rd party roms for now.
It is unlocked and rooted. All has been well until today. I had it off for a while to use the SIM in another phone. When I turned it back on it asked for the SIM unlock code. I Dismissed that and checked the phone, all seemed well other than no SIM activation. I turned it off and removed the SIM and now it won't boot. I get the usual logo, the song, and for a long time the S logo. If I wait long enough it then appears to be off. If I press the back or menu key they will light up but that's it. I can't do anything else other than pull the battery.
I tried the hard reset with holding volume down and tap the power button. That only turns it back on with the same problem. The actual SIM is fine and working in another phone.
Is there anything I can do? If I could hard reset it I'd take it back to the store but I hesitate for now while it still contains my data.
this is a problem i have just posted about a couple of mins ago
but i can get it recovery mode and fatory reset with the vol up, home and power
then it will boot but obviously i have to then reset everything from scratch which is really annoying so anyone got any idea re this
lucky for you that you can get into recovery. Right now I'd be happy with a hard reset, it doesn't take long to rebuild the setup. I'd like to know who decided to remove the recovery mode, that's evil and keeps me from simply resetting the device.
its all the apps re downloading and installing them and resetting up accounts and swype and all that lot need a fix asap
do you know what version of andoid you are running
yes but at least you can get a working phone again, I can't without being able to get into any boot menus. Honestly it only takes 30 minutes to setup again from scratch. I'm on 2.1 and what I find at least on my HTC when it had 2.1 is that I setup the google account, let it sync contacts etc, then from Market Downloads I'll see listed all my apps that were previously installed. As long as I don't leave that screen I can install each app one after the other. Or a proper backup....
Any other magic key combos to reset this thing???
did you try hooking up to kies?
Yes but that does nothing since it never fully boots.

Same thing happened to my phone, but a factory reset did nothing. The internal SD card gave out. Phone is now sent away for 3 - 6 weeks awaiting repair.
my phone did this to me today too, I was just about to post about this when I saw this thread.
So its an SD Card problem? theres no hope of getting it fixed without sending it in?
Yes I think it is the internal card meaning there isn't anything good enough to reset to. I walked the phone over to the store and I'll have to wait for new stock next week. Actually I'm lucky they will exchange it since I bought it outright which apparently is "against policy" even though they list a no contract full price. We'll see how it goes next week but overall I despise the telco industry in this country.

i went to best buy today to try and exchange it, and apparently they only have a 14 day exchange policy with phones despite it saying 30 day on the receipt, anyhow i phoned samsung and they said i have to go through bell, even though im using the phone on telus, so that should be interesting.
So all the people that are having this problem have the Bell model?
Today i got mine off eBay, as soon a i turned it on, i get exactly the same thing.
It wont load into Android, i see that galaxy S logo and then black screen.
If i go into recovery i see "cant mount SD Card".
The more is search this forum the more i see that all the people with this problem are owners of the Bell i9000M model.
I seriously think they have some defect with the manufacturing line of the phone.
Have you guys installed any firmware on your phone before this happened?
mine is like that out of the box.
Mine is the same Bell model. There seems to be some issues with them which makes the lack of download mode even more dangerous. Right now it doesn't feel like the warranty is going to cover us for problems not our fault. I hope they replace it next week but if it still lacks download mode I'll remain nervous.
Seems like everyone is with the Bell model but my questions is:
Have you guys installed another firmware than the factory one which caused this to happen?
Are you running Stock?
We need to try and narrow this down as i am seeing too many posts about this issue, and they are with the Bell model.

Thanks. if it was pushed to you via Kies i assume you were running stock JH2.
So it just stopped booting out of the blue?

I haven't flashed any 3rd party roms. I did do the official update via Keis which even at the store today they reminded me that I should do the update.. That update seemed to go well and has been working for over a week until I turned it off for an hour. It still isn't clear if the disabled 3 button mode is hardware or software related but we all seem to have that in common too. So before they dismiss the whole thing and we get hosed over technicalities such as unlocking it should be clear that there are clear defects in these phones as far as I can tell.
I want to be comfortable that I'm not left out of hundred of dollars just because I choose to buy it outright and not be tied to contracts. Samsung has to play nicely because it is their phone. Bell has to play nicely because they are bringing them in and distributing to retail. What carrier I use should be irrelevant because the problems are not related to usage.
FYI, the clerks went off for conference to decide if I somehow got the phone against policy. Either they trust my story or I got mine moments before they got the memo about not selling outright.

Same here, stock JH2 from Kies. Not rooted. Boots to Galaxy S logo, then black screen. Mine is sent in for repair... Almost two weeks now.
Seeing more and more of this being posted. There is obviously some issues with this phone.

Our posts crossed..
Yes I believe mine had the JH2, the official keis offered firmware. I was looking forward to the biggie update at the end of the month so wasn't about to risk bricking before then. Irony stepped in anyway.
I'm a bit nervous until I get a new one. At that point if the 3 button mode still doesn't work I'll remain nervous that I'll get another potential brick.
edit-> yes, I simply shut it down for an hour or two to use the SIM in another phone to test that phone. At next boot it died. I knew something was wrong when the logo stayed up for much longer.
I have the 3 buttons enabled so it is not related to the 3buttons being disabled, however when i boot into recovery it clearly displays an error that it can not find the internal SD.
There is definitely something wrong with the Bell Galaxy S corrupting itself.
I bought mine from an eBay seller, he is saying the phone booted fine when he shipped it but when i opened the box today i only got this black screen after logo.
Gladly the seller will take it back.
Maybe this is why there are shortages everywhere in Canada. I hope the caught this up and are fixing it with the new batch.

[i9505] Help needed

Hi XDA,
I've been playing around with my phone, all was fine until I downloaded SGS4Flasher from the play store and flashed something onto my phone. Since then, It's been mayhem to get back right again.
I installed a new PIT file, this seemed to fix the problem I had. I then installed OTA updates, which has changed my device Baseband version to i9505xxuemj7 from i9505xxubmga.
I used to be running android 4.2.2, but from simply installing Cyanogenmod through recovery, my phone could run Android 4.3.
Now my phone is running as normal again - Except every so often it'll crash and then get stuck in the bootloop, so I have to remove my battery and give it a few minutes before re-inserting and powering on my device for it to work properly. This means I cannot play games, tether my internet for too long etc. It's rather frustrating having such a nice phone yet not being able to use it.
Due to being new at this, I've kinda put up with the problem for a little while now - But its getting ridiculous now.
Can someone help me, I'm not good with all the terms of PDA, CSC etc - I'd like to be explain to taught what to do in plain black and white please, I know this can be daunting and frustrating, but so is this problem of mine that I've caused.
If you need any more information than what I have provided please just ask.
I'm from the UK and I'm using a pay monthly sim from Vodafone.
I am using the i9505 device with qualcomm processor - Jfltexx
If anything, I don't care about android 4.2.2 or android 4.3, they both seemed decent enough to me, but ROM wise, I absolutely loved Cyanogenmod. But anything that'll make my phone work without crashing, please help.
Do I need to find a new Kernel? PIT? I'm not sure what to call it? CSC? PDA?
All I'm used to is booting my phone into recovery mode, choosing install, and then choosing Cyanogenmod from my SD_CARD.
I've used ODIN before to do something with files, following tutorials from the internet - I think this was ROOTING Clockword Recovery Mod, or TeamWIN RP or something? I believe these are the files that make the RECOVERY mode on my phone that allows me to install Cyanogenmod through my SD Card.
Please simplify this as much as possible for me, even if it comes across as insulting ... an A B C guide would be appreciated highly.
Thanks,
So you do have this issues with Cyanogenmod and with the stock rom? I've had similair issues when my battery was malfunctioning. Can you check with a different battery?

The phone is virtually brand new - I'll get another battery yes, but It wont be the exact same one that comes with the device - It'll probably be a cheap Chinese make from Ebay for about £5.
The battery has been acting strange, and I'm not sure if its just me or not, but the battery feels sorta swelled as opposed to being completely flat.
I'd have thought It'd be an issue with the software/firmware seeing as that was what I had been messing around with.
I never had the problem with cyanogenmod, but cyanogenmod was before I started playing with things I shouldn't have.
Yes, its a common problem with the S4 that the battery becomes damaged. I think that if you replace your battery your phone will be working again. Because a swollen battery is a damaged one.
You could also claim warranty for your battery. Samsung already stated that some S4 were shipped with faulty baterys and that they will replace them for free.

Even though I've now voided my knox warranty?
Yes even then. I think you will only have to send the battery in to Samsung
And besides, I see you live in the UK. Under European Law the shop has to replace the battery for you and rooting etc does never void your rights.

i feel I have tried everything... History:
Phone has been working fine for a year, upgraded to 6.0.1 no problems about 2 or 3 months ago. no new apps installed. Last week it started getting very laggy, keyboard strokes took for ever to register. I thought, ok, time to to a factory reset to blow out any old cobwebs. Did it via the menu. However the phone froze midway thought. I left it for an hour and then pulled out the battery. I popped it back in and it performed the reset without me having to press anything. Cool, thats good I thought.
Now I was going to change the battery, so I powered off as normal and put my other 2 week old original samsung battery in, and it would not power on. After a few reinsertions it powered back on. I though i have to do another reset. So I tried, and it would not reset. It just died. I cant restart the phone, it dies. If I shut it down normally. it wont turn on back on, I have to take out and reinsert the battery multiple times, holding down the powerbutton between to discharge. this can take up to 10 tries now. Sometimes it will go th the unable to bot in normal mode and "downloading , do not turn of target, but it will stay there for ever, more than an hour.
Every 15-20 tries it would turn on, let me get in via pin, only to start freezing up within a min, and then die again. Somewhere I read that a guy hada similar problem, and he used wakelock and that worked, on level 4. I managed to download that and used it, and hey presto, it works!
Now I had to power down the phone for a reason, and it took me about 30 min of battery and powerbuttonholding before it managed to boot up, and I was quick enough to start wakelock on level 4.
It wont boot in to safe mode, it wont boot in to recovery mode, it wont boot in to the factory reset mode. Its the same with either battery, and different cables.
Any ideas what i can do here, or what could be wrong? I havent gotten it wet or banged it.
I am having the same exact issue on a N910A. Phone was functioning correctly and in December it started getting really laggy. Performed various resets, purchased new battery. Still laggy. Up until two weeks ago the phone was slow but now it will not power on . The phone will not charge as well.
Mine did same, 6 months old, not rooted stock firmware. Locked up yesterday, couldn't do anything. Pulled battery and restarted. Samsung logo comes on screen goes black for android boot then it hangs with blue led flashing. Nothing I do gets it past that point. Tried safe boot but it doesn't fully launch with correct button combo and volume up. In the end I re-installed firmware using Keis. All went well, everything as per youtube tutorial. Except one thing, at end of download phone didn't re-start. Still can't get it to boot, any ideas?
Edit: Lock up didn't coincide with any new apps being loaded or updates of existing. Only change was a week ago which was an automatic update of the stock firmware (Lollipop)

are you still under warranty? i sent mine to a samsung center, the guy recognized the problem as the motherboard, said I wasnt the first. That was 3 weeks ago, they are STILL waiting for the parts. They say the Samsung factory are way behind with repair parts, etc etc. I am hoping it will go under warranty. Ill update when I know!
I've been having the same problem that started yesterday morning. I've tried a few different solutions but nothings worked, I get the feeling that my phone is dead and I'm not in warranty either. I'm going to approach Samsung but my guess is they will want more than the phone is worth to repair it. I've read about so many people having the same issues, its horrendous engineering on Samsungs part considering how much their phones cost to start with

Your guess is probably correct and I totally agree with you. I seriously think manufacturers do not want their devices to be problem free for more than two years. Probably why they have stopped making phones with batteries that simply pop out.

Definitely...surely it couldn't have been that hard to make a device with a battery that was still removable on the newer phones. It's frightening how many forum posts I've found with people having their phones just brick out of nowhere (and that's just the note 4). I've given up trying to fix mine, I've tried every method I could find and nothings worked. I can only assume that this problem is simply the motherboard of the phone not working anymore. I'm not even sure what phone to buy now but it certainly won't be a Samsung.

If you do not care about the camera thera are a lot of rather affordable options which can be tossed in the bin when they start malfunctioning and if their warranty has run out. If you care about the camera being as good as the Note 4's than the range of phones you can buy is quite limited.

I am having the same exact issue on a N910A. Phone was functioning correctly and in December it started getting really laggy. Performed various resets, purchased new battery. Still laggy. Up until two weeks ago the phone was slow but now it will not power on . The phone will not charge as well.

If you are able to boot it into Download Mode then you should Download Stock Rom file for Galaxy Note 4 from Sammobile and Flash it through Odin..
Everything will be OK... ?
Unfortunately, SAMMOBILE does not have the SM-N910A firmware.

I think the camera on the note 4 is absolutley terrible. I might even go so far as to say the pictures are unusable. the applied noise reduction renders everything splotchy, colors are off and its not sharp at all. and Im not talking dark conditions here.
Anyway, my phone was repaired under warranty and is back to working as it should. It was indeed the motherboard, so if you have the same troubles I had, those are your best bets.
I don't think replacement via warranty will be available. I will attempt to power into download mode and verify if I can get it back up and running. If not, a good ole paperweight.

Sounds like the problems I have: with my first N910F: started with lagging apps / freezing, then random reboots now and then, eventually giving error messages when booting. Finally, now it will only start after the battery has been out for at least 30 minutes, but hangs on error message. When pulling battery out and putting back in it, wont give a single sign of life. Since I was just out of warranty it has been lying around, and I bought a second hand N910F for replacement, sadly its starting to give the same errors too and is just out of warranty too (its currently still working, but with freezes / reboots / and already a event with boot error).
I read It could be memory chips or some power chip on the motherboard, appears to be a common problem. So.... Last month I bought a new motherboard on ebay (chinese delivery, 80€). Received it last week and put it back in; phone is back to life. (putting it in is a very simple task, with iFixit teardown / guide)
Anyway, I love the Note 4 for performance / size / looks, and have been Samsung fan for a while, but this recent breakdowns and information that it is fairly common, has diminished being a fan fairly quickly and I guess the Note 4 will be the last Samsung device for a while after this new motherboard breaks down as well

My phone is also random Rebooting
It also shuts down at 25% of battery remaining, Have you also faced similar issue?
Download the app "Wake Lock" and run the Partial Wake Lock option. Apparently the updated software impacts the CPU. For the restarting issue, put it in the freezer for a couple minutes. You may have to take the battery out once, but it has worked for me every time.
This looks very much like the issue reported here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/no...-error-fix-t3434335/post72944466#post72944466
There are temporary fixes (wakelock), but ultimately this is a harware issue, and the fix is a new motherboard.
I think that underlying it is a problem with heat affecting the eMMC chip or its connection to the motherboard.

Hey can u pls get me the stock firmware for n910gddu1dpb4
You might find this interesting. Since I couldn't get mine to power up at all, I called Samsung tech and they quoted me $75 to fix it and they would pay for shipping. I figured it was better then getting another phone off Swappa. 2-3 weeks later i get an email that they are repairing it under warranty at no cost to me. I got a refurbished phone since i know my IEMI number was different. they didn't explain why. Anyway, I got lucky i guess.

Samsung GS5 shutting off

I've got a Samsung Galaxy S5 and I'm having this issue where several times a day the phone just shuts off. I'll go to pick it up and it's not on, and it won't turn on until I plug it in to power and wait for it to show the battery charge display.
I've taken the battery out and put it back in several times, and I followed some guide to clear the cache... EDIT 1: I have also done a factory reset as well.
If I remember correctly this issue only started after updating to 6.0.1 and didn't actually happen on 5.
My first thought is to try and roll back, however is there anything that I should try before this...?
Appreciate any input!
PS: Complete newb with Android.

I've never had this issue with my personal devices but, I had helped a few individuals with their devices spontaneously shutting off without warning.
I've found that 90% +/- of these problems ultimately stems from either one of the following.
1) The Power Button going bad by being worn out, loose or just plain sticking within itself or a worn bezel.
2) The battery beginning to go bad. The batteries going bad doesn't always reflect on the charge itself but, there's actually a small circuit board within them that talks to the device as well.
Out of the 2 above, I've run into more of the battery being the culprit than the power button.
I can't guarantee anything without physically looking at the device but, this is just my view as to my experiences.
Regarding this happening around the time you had updated your firmware, I believe that this is just pure coincidence. It's extremely rare for this to be tied to your Firmware without any firmware issues also being experienced.
I hope that this helps you out and I wish you the best of luck!

Thanks a lot for your reply!
I'm no expert whatsoever but the power button seems OK from what I can see and feel. It presses in and makes a noticeable click and then pops back out.
I think the battery may be the culprit here. When it shuts down, I can't turn it back on -- removing and re-adding the battery doesn't help. Only connecting power helps.
I think I'll opt to purchase a replacement battery. I have no experience with this whatsoever -- what price should one expect to pay and do you recommend avoiding eBay? I don't want to buy a dodgy battery.

I have very good experience with this battery, I have three of them and they have a very good capacity:

Thanks for your replies guys.
I finally got around to replacing the battery (spent $50 AU on it so not a cheapie)... however the issue still persists.
Any ideas what it could be? The issue still occurs even when safe mode is on.
I have rolled back to 5.0. Hopefully this will fix the issue. If not, I'm going to try to root it with a new version.
Any thoughts on what kind of diagnostics I could run to try and figure out the culprit?
(Assuming the issue will persist.)
