Rock mod vs 99 vs bcblend - EVO Shift 4G General

All about the battery life has anyone tested these three kernels in detail.

Because of the slight variance in hardware on the Shift its very much a YMMV situation. For example, everyone raved about bcnice's kernel how it gave huge gains battery life, but for me it gave me the worst battery life. Before Nightly #88 ScaryGhoul's kernel gave me the best battery life.

I'm using newest miui

Which do you get bettery battery life with?
Too me I wouldn't think it would make much of a difference. I'm on cmrc6. Using setcpu is the real battery saver imo. Guess it would depend on the kernal also though.

[Q] kernel check-up - what are you using and why?

I've been flip-flopping between the venerable overstock 1.x and 2.x versions (with trigger) for a couple of months, but I've seen some promising buzz for a few other kernels in the last few weeks.
I'm big on battery life; but speed/smoothness, voodoo, bln, and other nice features are also important to me. Bali sounds promising...
Anyone care to share their experience with and reasoning for their current favorites?
Overstock simply because it runs great and I've never had any issues. Don't care to try any others

I'm using Tigers Blood for a little over a month now with Trigger 3. I like it, OC'd to 1.2 and tweaked voltage. The battery is a pretty happy medium for my use

Bali most definitely. I'm running 1.8.4 with Bi-Winning and routinely get 35-40+ hours with my normal moderate use.
Edit: Let me correct that. With Bali 1.8.3 that's what I was getting. Still reconditioning the battery since I updated to 1.8.4...

Battery Life on CM7 (AOSP versus Sense)

I've been running the latest nightly (20120722) for a few days now with less than stellar battery life. It seems that everytime I run an AOSP rom the main battery culprits appear to be cell and phone idle, where's with a Sense rom, it' the screen. I have a relatively new battery. I'd say moderate use, typically.
Anyone have suggestions on getting better battery life with CM7? I'm running the stock kernel at 245/800, ondemand, deadline. Also running V6 supercharger at 5.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've gotten 12+ hours today of cm7.2 7/15 nightly and barely at 50%
Did lots of recordings and such.
Dunno
I don't use the v6 script, or do any mods at all.
Just run it as is.
Stock battery too.

Yeah I've gone back to 7/15 to see if it's any better. I seem to remember it being better; I'll report back later today. Still curious why cell standby is the main battery eater on CM7 (or AOSP ROMs in general) as compared with say, SSX or newSENSE, which was the display...

Aosp shows true signal where Sense won't. So AOSP having a cell standy over display sounds about right. Sense always thinks it has signal and AOSP has no signal thanks to sprint. In my area Sprint blows, so that's what I *think

This is better.. I went back to the previous nightly (20120715) for a few days now. Still moderate use.
I'm currently running the stock kernel at 245/1.21, ondemand, deadline. Without V6 supercharger and I didn't flash the ICS theme either.
Perhaps the 20120722 nightly did not play well with my device.

That is a lot better! Glad it's working better for you now.

If V6 SuperCharger is not setup correctly, or the setting is to high. Your Battery life can take a hit.

Great luck with Toasted Marshmallow by Awesome.
Glacier_One_v2.0 has been pretty great for me so far....
Well you have to remember that it's not just the rom, the kernel the rom uses also plays a big role in battery life. Also using apps like Juice Defender, etc. can affect battery life statistics being reported by other users.

IMO Juice defender sucks and so does most of those battery saver apps. They cause more problems than they are worth get a good battery like an anker and don't run a ****load of apps and try official cm7 or try applying governors like smartassv2 or similar that adjust itself while sleeping or maybe an app like setcpu and setup some profiles thats like i said IMO...Good Day!!!
Ditto...

Kernel idle drain

Which kernel idles the best with least amount of battery drain out of faux and Franco? It would help a lot of us get a bigger picture with less bias lol. Thanks:thumbup:

All custom kernels with the wakelock fix have virtually identical rates of idle drain.
I've had 0-1% over night with Trinity, Franco & Matr1x. But, each phone & usage environment is different..
Really so now I've got to figure out whos kernel runs the smoothest and gives me a good screen on..
I'm testing harshes ATM its performing very nice indeed with cfx latest build
