For some reason, my Gmail does not sync or push when I am on Wifi (all Roms I have tried so far)
Is this normal? Sync is fine when on 3g
go into settings>applications, find gmail and clear app data. that might help.
I didn't quite cover the issue...I can sync, but push doesn't seem to work right. Has been a problem on almost every version of gmail

is it doing the thing where you have the "3 unread" at the top of your app, but they don't show up as readable, or what?
are you rooted? backup, do a factory reset and set up gmail and see if the issue persists. if it does, then restore and try something else, if it fixes it, then just start over from scratch.
that's strange that gmail doesn't work right on wifi. it works fine for me. i'm thinking its either something with your profile, or your device specifically.
did you try clearing app data like i said in my last post?
This has been a problem with every rom I have tried - I am rooted. Never had this problem on my Droid. Push works fine on 3g, but does not work on WiFi unless I do a manual sync. Very strange. I have tried clearing the data, cache, and everything inbetween. I don't think it is a phone issue since all of my other data works fine on WiFi. Tried 2.2, 2.2.1, and even reverted back to 2.1, all have the problem. My wifi is set to never sleep, so that is not it. Also, I don't have any data settings turned off. Guess that Gmail just does not like WiFi
Been on WiFi all evening with no issues. The fact that it happens on multiple phones with multiple roms makes me think its something wrong with your gmail profile or something like that.
I'd say call VZW but they're gonna want you on an approved OS, so prolly wanna have that OTA froyo Rom handy before you call.

Looks like this is a problem for others as well...

I am going to see if the stock email program also suffers from this
Finally...fixed it
I wiped data and made a new gmail profile. Now my main profile is another gmail account. Then I added my normal gmail. All syncing properly. I spent about 2 hours combing through my gmail profiles on the computer and don't see anything. Oh well, working now

I've had a problem with pushing over institutional wifis, like guest wifis in hospitals and the like. Otherwise its been fine.

There is definately an issue with the institutional wifi...today I used wifi on the guest account at work and although my phone showed constant connection, I was able to see the phone get dropped continuously. It seems like these types of networks drop connections that are dormant for a short period of time

I'm living on WiFi only at my hotel since weds, its an institution access, so you have to refresh the connection about every 24 hours via a redirect to a confirmation page. No issues with any of my data, especially gmail. But good luck sending/receiving texts! There is literally no service in my room, and in the lobby I get 1X with no bars. It's brutal

Hey I've been wondering if anyone else has had the problem of google voice and google services in general not syncing across wifi. I have CM 7 no. 29 but have had this problem since I had I rooted and I think when I had sense.

no, i haven't had this issue with google voice/mail/contacts/anything else. seems to be working fine for me.
Well i shouldnt say they don't sync across wifi, they do when i tell the programs to refresh and then it shows the syncing icon in the notification bar, however this dosnt happen automatically when connected to wifi, it does when im out and about.
Hey there,
I upgraded to Cyanogenmod 7 (latest stable) a few weeks ago and I noticed, that I got some strange connection problems since then.
Got a tasker profile for popping wifi on when I'm near home. But when I'm at home and turning my phone on and unlocking, I got no connection (3G/EDGE/w/e).
Tasker got the right tasks running to get the wifi connection up but it only establishes after a random time. And until then there is no 3G/etc running either so absolutely no connection.
I got stuff as JuiceDefender, 3G Watchdog etc, but I dont know if it has anything to do with it.
Disable/uninstall those apps, and slowly work your way back until you find the problem program. Haven't noticed any CM problems with data myself.

There's more than likely multiple programs fighting each other to toggle your connections. Uninstall them all and make sure it works fine. Then add one, then the other, and see which is making your issue.
Is anybody doing anything on CM9 that requires certs? There are a couple of corporate services here that I'd like to use (802.1x, Exchange) that require a cert for authentication, and I can load them just fine, but whenever anything tries to actually use one, my NC locks up and I have to power cycle.
I managed to use 802.1x for the first day, but after that, it hangs whenever I try to connect to the access point, and I've never managed to connect to Exchange at all; the test connection while configuring K-9 for exchange hangs the device.
I'm running eyeballer's latest non-opengl nightly, installed on emmc.
People here with other devices are using their versions of ICS just fine for both services.
Hi, MIUI keeps syncing on my phone when I connect to WIFI, it makes the phone so slow that its unusable, when I use 3g data, its fine.
I did turn synicng off in settings, I find it retarded that it just keeps syncing even if I switched it to manual sync.
I uninstalled Xiaomi sync (With a tool) and that seems to have fixed the issue
