Hello all
I'm a fellow MS2 user from Singapore.
I've tried to get A2S on my phone but failed so would like to ask a few questions which may help me.
Is it necessary to flash 3.12 Brazil for this to work?
If yes, is the one hosted on and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2 good enough?
Currently I'm on UK MILS2_U6_2.4.24 and it didn't work when I flashed A2S 1.9 with Droid 2 Bootstrapper.
In the bootstrapper, after restoring A2S and rebooting, it only gets to the M logo which fades and come back once as usual and stay there without any boot animation. Left it for 15 minutes to check its not just a slow booting but nothing happened and still stuck at M logo. So I rebooted (remove battery and power back up) which got me into the bootstrapper luckily and restored back my backed up files without problems.
Could it be not being on 3.12 Brazil the cause of the problem? Want to confirm it before flashing it because I worry about having difficulty navigating in another language.
And, is it a must to clear cache partition too? And would anyone kindly redirect me to a detailed instructions post/page? :X I've scanned for quite some time but found nothing..
Thank you for your time to read this!
(I've PMed santiemanuel regarding this but the message did not show up on my sent messages so I've decided to make a post about it. Sorry if this has already been discussed somewhere but I really can't find it!)
Edit 1:
A sum up from dangpzanco:
-Extract argen2stone19.zip to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/argen2stone19/
-Flash brazilian sbf.
-Root the phone
-Install Droid 2 bootstrapper.
-Bootstrap the phone.
-Go into the recovery (from droid 2 bootstrapper).
-Wipe cache.
-Make a nandroid backup
-Custom restore system.img backup from argen2stone
Edit 2:
Successful! DD Got Argen2Stone on my MS2 finally~
What I did:
-Extract argen2stone19.zip to /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/argen2stone19/
-Make a nandroid backup
-Factory reset
-Flash brazilian sbf.
-Root the phone
-Install Droid 2 bootstrapper.
-Bootstrap the phone.
-Go into the recovery (from droid 2 bootstrapper).
-Make a nandroid backup
-Custom restore system.img backup from argen2stone
Yes, you should flash brazilian flash to a2s works. And yes, and-developers.com/sbf:milestone2 should do it. There is no secret about change languages, just look and memorize how to change it in your device, will be the same in a2s. As im brazilian, im not sure if language is changed or not in this process.
The safe way to flash is always wipe to factory settings.
ok thank you very much for your quick reply!

helloo everyone!
basically what i did was backed up my current stock froyo rom, and then followed the steps for the "deblurred gingerbread rom" on how to flash it, i then went to reboot my phone.and got stuck on the M logo have pulled the battery several times im lost at what to do so please anyone help? i would be very grateful
you should press volume-down + camera key both, and poweron your phone to enter bootloader to flash the fixedsbf.
it will not automatically enter to the bootloader.
how do i go about flashing the fixed sbf?
i put my phone into bootloader and opened rsd lite and my phone wasnt recognised?
what am i meant to do
All the information is findable on this forum!
First; the howto flash SBF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1032372
Second; the SBF file you need to flash: http://www.multiupload.com/KL6LSHIRCS
So with that howto you need to flash the SBF provided in this post. After that it'll work.
when i plug my phone into the computer in bootloadermode and find the sbf file in rsd and press start, nothing happens? i have motorola driver installed?
Can you post a screenshot of RSD Lite with your phone connected and the SBF selected?
Also try to reboot and try again.
i was playing around with different things and managed to get my phone mounted to rsd the phone has booted! i did a full data wipe and cache wipe and im just restoring my apps back with titanium backup, if i wanted to have all the blur services, would i now be able to restore the nand backup of the other gingerbread rom? or would i have to go through the whole process again?
If you want the Blur services now you just need to flash the MS2Ginger Nandroid in CWM.
...and the other way around offcourse. hf!
Hi guys,
I need help! I messed up my phone
I tried installing Cyanogen mod as advised here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338183
and it seemed to work fine and booted into the mod. However, I then noticed that I did not have any Google apps (I thought they would be there), so I checked the thread on XDA that said that you needed to flash those too. So when I tried to do that, by using Bootstrap recovery and rebooting, my phone is now stuck booting with the red "M". Nothing else happens.
I have tried booting into recovery, but only stock recovery is available. I have tried wiping data/cache, it did not work. I have tried renaming the mod to update.zip and applying that, but it says "signature verification failed".
Please, please help! What can I do?
PS: I did try posting in the relevant thread, but the forum will not let me post in the development section.
Thanks a million!

Thanks so much! That guide was very useful, with a few modifications:
Phone needs to be UNPLUGGED first, then powered on like this: camera + volume down + power. Then connect USB cable. You also need Motorola drivers and the latest version of RSD that MUST be run as admin. The SBF file MUST be in the RSD application folder. Then it worked! Phew!
A million, million thanks!

Do not use bootstrap with any custom.. will brick your phone
Instead turn your phone on.. when 2nd M logo appears the led light will turn on (blue).. just press VOL-.. then go to Recovery, Latest Recovery.. this time use vol +- to navigate and power button to choose
Sorry about my poor English..
Hi there
Thanks so much for your reply.
But it says here to use bootstrap to install Cyanogen mod? Don't you have to use that?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338183
Thanks! Oh - and your English is great!
You have to use bootstrap, when you are on stock and want to custom rom. Without bootstrap, you can't install custom rom
After installing bootstrap, it's recommended to install newer CWM by installing http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196590 from current CWM from bootstrap... And after that you can finally install custom ROM from updated CWM 3.1.
And AFTER installing custom rom, THEN you should NOT install bootstrap. You should not install bootstrap from custom rom Hope it's clear now.
tl;dr: you MUST install bootstrap, to go into custom rom; you should not install bootstrap when/after you are actually on custom rom*
* (because custom rom has own 2nd init etc. and by installing bootstrap you would destroy it and cause brick (not permanent of course)

Thanks SO much for that, it makes sense now!
So once I have installed Cyanogen, and an update for it is released, how do I flash that? And will that delete all my data & apps?
Thanks!

Once you have CM installed, then when update is released, you simply go into recovery (hold power and select reboot, then recovery, then it will reboot into bootmenu, where you are supposed to choose boot, then recovery and then latest), where you find option named "install zip from sdcard". So you choose this option, then select zip file with update on your sd card and after success installation, select wipe cache and advanced wipe dalvik cache, then reboot and it should boot ok, with your apps and other data - but I always recommend to backup via titanium backup, before flashing any update, because if you meet any error, you have to wipe also data from recovery... and you lose your data and apps after data wipe

Thanks so much for your thorough explanation! This should be added to the main threat sticky. You're a star!
This is my first time using MIUI and its quite different than what I'm use to. I rooted the d2 then used d2bootstrap to flash the recovery. I then made a nandroid backup. I flashed MIUI 1.9.23. I flashed cwm with rom manager. Tried booting into recovery from rom manager and just reboots my phone with a factory reset. I tried the same thing from the power menu and wipes the phone completely every time. i've tried booting into recovery by waiting for the blue led but it never comes.
I don't know what sbf is. Could someone please help me through this? Thanks again.
One, make sure you have the version for the D2/Global.
Secondly, don't use Rom Manager to do the install. It doesn't play well with the D2.
Download Droid 2 Bootstrapper here: https://market.android.com/details?...vbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEuZHJvaWQyLmJvb3RzdHJhcCJd
Rom Manager may work for some, but in general it's just screwy with the D2
Install the MIUI Zip in the SD root directory so it will be easy to find.
You must be rooted. Run boostrapper, Bootstrap Recovery, then Restart Recovery.
Wipe cache, then wipe data. Go into advanced options and wipe dalvik cache.
Choose install zip from sd card, select your MIUI zip, and the phone will do the rest.

Enjoy
Cleaning up development section. Moved to General.
Cheers
To make things short, I bought a Motorola Milestone 2 from a local phone outlet and its the Australian Optus version, stuck on 2.2.
I rooted with superoneclick (ver. 2.2) and installed Milestone overclock.
What I really want help with is the upgrading to 2.3 and possibly to the cyanogenmod7 nightly build for the MS2. Could I get a list of instructions and download links? I already downloaded the droid2bootstrap apk and the cm7 nightly, but I've been reading about some phones being bricked and cant be downgraded to the 2.2 sbf.
I'd like to apologize if the answers were in another thread, though I have looked and only found people who had the 2.3 official update.
I'd also like to thank you in advance for looking at this thread.
Yes, I am a noob to the Milestone 2.
I'm only familiar with customizing the Cliq (MB200) and the Defy (MB525).

1) Open the bootstrap, hit bootstrap recovery, then reboot recovery.
2) In recovery, flash bootmenu 1.1.0 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27757682&postcount=498
3) Let it boot once to android, then reboot.
4) On the M Logo, hit the volume down key when the blue led flashes.
5) Go to recovery -> Custom Recovery
6) Make a nandroid backup
7) Wipe cache, dalvik and data.
8) Flash CM7 from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338183 and the google apps from here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip (or use the ones in the CM7 thread)
9) Reboot and enjoy!
Don't forget to make a backup of your important info, apps with Titanium Backup (great tutorial here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...ting-roms-hacks/192528-how-tibu-easy-way.html ) and SMS and call logs with SMS Backup + (is in the market, backs up SMS and call logs to your gmail account, so they don't get lost), I think you can backup your APNs and wi-fi keys with Titanium too.
Good luck :good:
Thank you!!!!!!!

Thank you so much! I tried this and did everything according to the list, but I got a bootloop so I had to wipe/factory reset and wipe cache after the update for it to work. Thanks so much again
thank you too
okay so i have rooted my p700, installed CWM, and flashed cm10... after that i rebooted my phone (i needed to in order to get link2sd to recognize my external sd), after that the CM went into a bootloop!! which got me very angry (considering it came at a very bad time)... so i reflashed it a number of times even tried older builds...still all i get is a hot processor and a bootloop....i have gone through so many forums, scavenged the whole internet for methods on fixing it but still no luck...anybody have anyway of fixing this? and one more thing after i formated my sd (trying to make partitions for link2sd i lost my backup )
try download latest CM10 and reflash it . Make sure follow the steps correctly
How to Install::

Reboot In Recovery(MAKE A BACKUP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!)
Wipe Data/Cache,Wipe Cache,Wipe Dalvik Cache(Which you can find in Advanced)
