Unlocked bootloader - Droid X General

Soo the atrix has been unlocked and I keep hearing that the dx and atrix have same bootloader...
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App

The difference between the two should be more than enough so that the leaked build will not do anything.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App

What do you mean? Sorry not understanding. whats the difference, why won't the leak do anything?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA Premium App

Atrix and DroidX are two different hardware platforms, they have different bootloaders. Forget about open bootloader for DroidX, Motorola never open it, unless it will hacked.

Custom ROM environment

How is the environment on the Fascinate? I've noticed leak based roms but are there any aosp builds like cyanogen?
Im currently on the Droid X but the encrypted bootloader hinders it. Is the bootloader opened fully on the Fascinate?
Thanks

I just came from the x, you wouldn't be disappointed
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
So what type of rom selection is there?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Not much development until 2.2 hits. No functional aosp, most of if not all are just debloated stock roms.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
So what's the hold up? Is there a security feature in place that prevents building or porting other 2.2/2.3 roms?
Also, wasn't there a port of gingerbread to galaxy s phones? What prevents this on the fascinate.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The Ril is holding us back which is the thing that allows us to call, text, ect. and Samsung gave us a crap code which essentially didn't work I think, but our devs got it working.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
OK good to know.
Sounds like more hope than the encrypted bootloader on the X.

Im looking for a updated radio for the X

Hello im looking for a radio for the X I have a friend who has a htc and he upgrade the radio on this phone but I can't find one for the X thanks

Can't load radios with a locked boot loader, or at least I think

What radio are you running now? Check MyDroidWorld.com. P3 has the most up to date system, kernal, and baseband packaged seperately and flashable through bootstrap.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Out of curiosity why are you wanting to update your radio? If u have a stock rooted phone just go to about phone, and system updates and that should give you the newest radio possible.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Why bc when my friend updated his he is getting better service I just wanted to see if it was possible
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Flashing the wrong radio is a very good way to turn your phone into a paper weight, at least for a while. Unless you are getting terrible service, I wouldn't worry about flashing a new radio. I'm not sure you can on the dx anyway.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You might be able to with an sbf, buylt I've been over in the fascinate and incredible forums in the land of unlocked bootloaders where anything is possible. So hit my thanks meter just because I'm going to tell you I don't haveva ****ing clue
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
i am almost certain that the bootloader will not let you change the RADIO and it def wont let you touch the KERNEL
HTC and other companies dont lock there bootloaders like moto does your best bet is to wait there is talk of moto releasing the restrictions on the this to allow developers more access to there hardware and if or when that happens this will be easier but until then i would say your SOL

Full access

Has P3Droid obtained full access to the X? Or was the GB leak only allowed because it was a leak of the official. Will CM7 be possible one day?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
The only real progress I know of is the team working with kexec(sp). They bypassed the bootloader, but need drivers. Dev is pretty still...
As for P3, I was sure he had a dev phone that wasn't locked down at all. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
No p3 has dev phones. I think they got the wifi driver and are waiting on bluetooth. Although I haven't seen any new posts on the official bluetpoth thread for a while.

Wasn't there something a few weeks ago where someone 'discovered' the bootloader keys and told Motorola to release them or he would? Or is my brain playing tricks again?

Maybe a moto supplied unlocked bootloader?

Motorola can Unlock Bootloaders all they want to, main problem there is AT&T Interfering and Locking the Bootloader by Default even if Moto themselves left it Unlocked.

Yep the bootloaders are more about carriers locking them up. I'm guessing AT&T wasn't too happy about the unlocked being leaked from Motorola, and hopefully the guy that leaked it didn't get into too much trouble...

Why is that? You'd think they'd supply unlocked bootloaders easily instead of sim unlock codes. Unlocked bootloader means we can just flash different roms vs unlocked sim means we can leave AT&T, correct?

Wow... OP must be a very slow reader because an unlocked bootloader has been stickied in the dev forums since late June.
Thread closed to prevent additional flaming at the OP.

Planning to port CyanogenMod 9 to the XPRT

I plan on undergoing this process. As the title says. I believe the XPRT deserves ICS. And I wish to prove it. Anyone interested in helping or following please let me know!
Whoa thanks man! I wish I could help, but I know nothing about these things. Good luck! I would love to see ICS on this thing!

Do keep in mind though that I'm only 17 and still in high school and very frequently busy. I don't have tons of time.

Also. I believe I shall first do CM7. This is my first rom port after all.

The first task I am currently facing is the kernel. I need to get it from the stock rom. It's the only kernel for this phone and it is needed to run anything.

If anyone wants to join in. I'm no pro and I'm currently suffering from serious allergies or something. Either way I feel like death. This link is a base of what I'm doing somewhat http://apcmag.com/port-roms-to-your-android-device.htm
And I was using a official CM7 7.2.0 rom for a droid x as the secondary. It doesn't seem like the hardest task in the world honestly. Rongsang I think you should take this up. You probably have the skills to do so.
Sent from my MB612 using xda app-developers app
Sure. i'll download the cm7 for droid x and look into it,
I've decided to port CM7.2 rom from Defy as it has similar hardware as XPRT and it was previously successfully ported to Droid Pro. But I'm still unable to boot. Need some help.
Why are you unable to boot?

You have the kernel right? You cannot mix two different kernels. It will only work one device. So since no one has developed a kernel for the xprt you have 2 choices. Build your own. Or extract it from the stock.

This...actually doesn't look hard to do at all.

It looks easier than it is. I'm still not able to make it boot. Its a bit harder with locked bootloader and 2nd-init. Can't seem to find a guide to port locked bootloaders with 2nd-init. Need somebody with experience to start off this project.
