That file is no where to be found on the rom im using. I checked system -> apps and the list of. Apk 's.
Its not there. Where is it located?

on your internal SD card:
folder it's in: system/framework
file name: twframework-res (copy off phone onto your computer and open it with 7-zip or equal program)
image to modify: twframework-res\res\drawable-hdpi\status_bar_background.9
You will need to zip it all up so that you can push it to the phone using MetaMorph... do a quick search to find the how-to on that.
I think you can use adb to swap the image as well, but never have used that method.
Hope this is what you were looking for! I modified mine to be a gray checkered background with a transparent image etched onto it... looks fantastic cause you can see whatever screen you were on when you pulled it down through the transparent image!

Is it possible to change the color black to a different color top bar where the clock and battery are displayed. ? Im not sure what that is called status bar heading or something.

It's possible to change any of the images you see while on your phone... you can change what the buttons look like, what letters look like, nearly any image can be modified to how you want it... you just have to stick to the basic dimensions of the image and keep in mind what is going to be displayed on top of it so you don't pick a color that will blend with everything else making it hard to read.
The notification bar I believe is in the same folder and file as the pulldown background... it's named "quick_panel_notifications_bg.9"
How I did it all... I took someone else's MetaMorph theme (I forget the name or I would give credit), I opened it up, modified the images I wanted to modify, zipped it back up how they had it and placed it on my phone and applied it using MetaMorph. That's the easiest way to get around actually creating the images yourself or taking them from the phone and trying to figure out how to create a MetaMorph file from scratch.
Edit: Off topic, but I did the same thing with start-up and shutdown sequences... my phone is stock KB1 w/voodoo kernel and truly is customized to my liking... I don't have to worry about updating a ROM to fix a bug or applying multiple themes to get what I want... The custom ROMs are great, no knocking them... I'm more into the basics of making the phone better, not completely reworking it!

white top/bottom bars with black text

I some search on google, and googled through the XDA search as well, and cant find a theme that is has white bars. I was pretty surprised, since it seems like a fairly simple thing to do. RC mod will allow me to change the text color, but not the background color, any ideas?

You can make your own theme using ThemeGenCE, which you can find here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-themegence-v2-0.html
That'll let you make the task bar and the font whatever colour you want.
Hope that helps!

I think it needs to be cooked... There is a shellres.96.dll, it's just hidden (WM won't boot without it as it contains most of the shell images). The MUI file is the US English localization for the device.

I think it is the best standard battery mod Maybe, you can make a mod with only this battery available for a lot of ROM
Obviously, I prefer my circle one but I know some people prefer the battery symbol so I recommend them to take this mod.
Anyway, good job

Well, I know you use my xml files to make this nice mod and don't worry ! it is not a steal, you can use it as you want . Also, the only way to make a battery charging animation 1% by 1% is to change a xml file. If you have decompiled the framework, look in the drawable folder and you can find and edit a xml file "stat_sys_battery_charge.xml."
At least, you give me a good idea for my circle battery for a future version (B or C or ... ^^)
I love it. This theme is really good.
Very nice.
I use this with Flipclock Ahman Blue from the market. The blue looks the same shade

what program do you use to change xml files?
Theme is simply amazing, however I have found some space for improvemetns
Inside zip you will find 3 folders:
transparent-can you make those (zoom)pngs that are inside more transparent ?
Smileys-I really hate those android smileys, they are so ugly, do you maybe have some other "normal" smileys that are nicer so you can replace them
res-drawable-another "ugly" smiley that will be nice to replace, this smimley is located in framework-res\res\drawable
And where are located settings icons(location and security, wireless...)?

If you have decompiled (not unzipped) the framework-res.apk, you can open the xml files with a simple text editor. Otherwise, I use the Apk Manager to decompile the framework-res.apk .

I think he's talking about the "on call" screen -- if a contact doesn't have a photo associated. If this is what you're looking for-- it's a little more complicated-- would need to be be edited through the framework-res.apk.
specifically, it should be in system/framework/framework-res.apk/drawable-hdpi/ic_contact_picture.png
are you using a specific theme or rom on your epic?
I was going to try avoiding this since its been talked about. But if you are going o modify your framework-res.apk,you can use 7zip to extract a framework-res.apk where the image you want is at,find the image you want,(HD)save that image to desktop. Then open an archive with 7zip (not extract)find the the folder where the image you want replaced is at,now drag the image you have saved to the folder you have opened in 7zip (not extracted)and there you go,no need for resigning the framework-res.apk...I hope that is an easy process for you.

SMS Preview on Lockscreen

I love the SMS preview on the bottom of the lockscreen of Sense ROMs.
Sadly, SkyRaider Sense 4.0 doesn't have this feature anymore. I love the ROM but I'm trying to find a workaround for it.
I've tried SMS Popup with Widgetlocker, which works, but I don't like getting popups when I'm using my phone, reading email, etc.
I just want a SMS preview of some sort on the lockscreen so I can quickly check to see the beginning of a text I receive without having to unlock my phone.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Much appreciated...
EDIT: I thought of a possible fix. Maybe I can find a widget which displays new, unread SMS messages? Then I can put it on my lockscreen using widgetlocker. Sound good? Any recommended widgets?
EDIT 2: Found a widget that works but....I'd rather not see my last SMS always on my lockscreen. ugh...there's gotta be a fix!! I just want the HTC lockscreen

Ya, I'm wondering if there's a way to just import the stock HTC lockscreen.
In Incredibly Re-Engineered, there were multiple lockscreens too and to restore the default, the dev said:
(Note: To enable the HTC Lockscreen, navigate to "system/app" using root explorer; Find "HtcLockscreen.bak" and rename it to "HtcLockscreen.apk" and then perform a Hot Restart)
Is there any way for us to port that HtcLockscreen.apk and get it to work on SkyRaider?

Edit. Seems like SkyRaiders lock screen overrides it. Need to figure out how to remove it first.

Let me know if you have any luck with the HTC lockscreen.
I've been trying to get used to the CM7 style lockscreen in Skyraider and it's got some cool features that might make me stick with it.
Just wondering though...when I get a text, I'll get an SMS preview at the top in the notification bar, but unless I check my phone right away, I won't see the quick preview. Is there any way to have the preview at the top wait for me to unlock the phone before it goes away?
Yes, but it fails of course. Maybe ihtfp69 can release another feature add-on for the HTC lockscreen.

[Solved] Is the a way to change quality of apps on carousel

Just got the KF two days ago and I got it rooted this morning. Now after sideloading some apps from the Android Market, the apps (image Icon) look kinda low quality compared to the ones that came preinstalled on the KF. What's the best way to make them look HQ? It's just a little pet peeve of mine. Thanks in advance for the help.
Update: Please follow this link for a how to guide that will help you make high res app icons for your KF if you choose to sideload. It was put together by tokyostomp.
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
There is no way you can change the app quality.
You need to use another launcher like Go Launcher Ex.
there is a way it involves editing the apk or the data folder where the icons are stored. i'm currently trying to figure this out as well
Seems to me anything installed from the Amazon market looks great, anything is low res.
There is no way of upscaling the icons because all the kindle is doing in the carousel is blowing them up, i suppose you could edit the actual icon in system/app but theres not easy way of going around that
im pretty sure i have it figured out. it involves swapping out the icon in the apk with a higher rez one. i am trying to get this nailed down but my java is acting up and i can't resign apks to test out my stuff. i'm gonna reinstall java to see if i can get some signers to work
i think i may have figured it out. someone want to post an apk so i can tinker with it
So what are you going to do when the app updates with a new version?
Remodify it each time?
modify the apk again i suppose.

if you want to replace icons yourself, heres how to do it
go to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
and download APK Manager
(You might also need to grab Java JDK)
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
once you have all that, unzip the apks you want to edit. find a icon that you feel is suitable. you will need to resize the icon to 192x192. (i've used 256x256 and it gets cut off)
now browse to the following directory:
res/drawable-mdpi/
this is where the fire looks to grab the icon for display, some programs don't have this folder as they were made for smaller displays.
if thats the case you will have to go to /drawable-hdpi/ instead
the icon for the apk should be somewhere in there (usually named icon.png)
once you got the icon replace all you have to do is zip up your project and sign it. then dropbox/usb/adb to your device
also i have had some problems overwriting already installed programs. what worked for me was uninstalling them then installed the edited apk
some programs are picky though, i tried changing the icon of rootexplorer and got constant fcs

I would strongly suggest just using Go Launcher. The Amazon launcher is brain dead.

I have Ade ex installed along with the amazon launcher. I like options and if I do come back to the amazon launcher, I still would like my icons looking crisp. Thanks for the advice though.

if you want to replace icons yourself, heres how to do it
go to
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701
and download APK Manager
(You might also need to grab Java JDK)
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html
once you have all that, unzip the apks you want to edit. find a icon that you feel is suitable. you will need to resize the icon to 192x192. (i've used 256x256 and it gets cut off)
now browse to the following directory:
res/drawable-mdpi/
this is where the fire looks to grab the icon for display, some programs don't have this folder as they were made for smaller displays.
if thats the case you will have to go to /drawable-hdpi/ instead

Some apps are finicky. I tried changing root explorer and it kept fc'ing on me. Maybe I'll figure it out if I keep tinkering with it.
I'll eventually rewrite the guide with more details.
i just noticed something funny. when i longpress and try to add a widget to the desktop in golauncher, the icon is bigger than the rest
bump for pics

Those look sweet brother. Have you been able to put together the noob guide yet for those that are less skilled at coding? Haven't had a chance to play around with it myself, but am looking forward to the venture.

Ah, I tried doing that but was using 256x256 instead of 192x192, and they were being clipped. Will definitely try this later.
Ill probably whip one tomorrow or so. I work weekends so I haven't had the time
