[Q] HDMI input? - Acer Iconia A500

Hey devs
I was wondering if you could somehow use the hdmi out as an hdmi in?
or is it like a regular hdmi out. Or is there any software out there that
can interpret the signal from the port?
im just wondering (used google no answers, no posts about this either)
Thanks!

No.
You can't use it as a monitor if that's what you're asking. You can only use it for output.

thanks, is there any other way for the tablet to display video from an external source?

Seeing that DVI uses about 4Gbps for bandwidth while the maximum USB connection is 480 Mbps... I dont think it is possible. Unless the signal can be somehow injected directly from the docking connector.

HDMI

Does the Galaxy S have HDMI output at all?
I've read in some places that it does, but haven't found a definitive answer.
It does not have HDMI.
You can however use DLNA to wirelessly transfer HD video from the SGS to your TV, which also must be DLNA compatible.
you can also use component cables and connect it to the 3.5 jack. That works also, theres a video on youtube of someone doing it.
I have a Samsung 58 inch Plasma with DLNA support and cant wait to try it out.
@Kleany: is not possible. trough 3,5 jack it can transfer only sound !!!
In this video they used DLNA technology to transfer video from galaxy to LCD screen.
Have you seen HDMI cable? there are many pins and cables is not possible use only 3-4 pins to transfer digital video signal.

[Q] How do I still use tablet speakers with HDMI out?

So got myself a micro hdmi mhl cable, connected to my monitor and get mirroring perfectly nice.
However, by default I know it will want to use the audio via the hdmi -- but my monitor has no speakers. Is there a setting where I can tell it to use my tablet speakers still?

Still haven't found a way, any suggestions?
Set of external speakers? I don't know of a way the use the n10's speakers with HDMI, but I did get some computer speakers (that I use for my raspberry pi) to work on the n10 with HDMI... The n10 worked well as a temporary replacement for my Raspberry Pi media centre while I modified the Pi's lego case

Yeah that's what I'm looking like I'm going to have to do. Need to get a USB OTG cable that doesn't block the headphone jack first though.
Was hoping maybe there was an app someone knew of, or a feature in a ROM that might allow you to select default sound output when there's multiple options.

Rikomagic MK808IIIs --> display port ** SOVLED**

Hay all,
I got one of these recently to connect to one of my monitors.
My monitor has a display port not HDMI and I have an adaptor for it this one.
It fits well and all, but my device will not power on when plug in via this adapter, I've seen a few issues with this but cant find a answer if there is one.
Has anyone encountered this problem?
Has anyone fixed it or has an idea?
Any help would be appreciated

From displayport.org;
Q: I just purchased a monitor that only has a DisplayPort connection. How can I hook this up to my computer that only has VGA, DVI or HDMI?
A: There is not a cost effective way to do this. The adaptors that are available only work from a DP computer to a VGA, DVI or HDMI monitor and not the other way around. If you have a desktop you can purchase a graphics card with DisplayPort. Our best advice: Before you purchase a DP only monitor make sure you have DP on your computer.
Basically, you can't use the DisplayPort connection on your monitor with ANY device that only has VGA, DVI, or HDMI outputs, without the use of an expensive converter that may not produce acceptable results. Please follow Dave's advice and try to use a HDMI-to-DVI adapter.

Solution was used a HDMI to DVI... or anything else really not a display port

Trying to use an MHL lead

These phones apparently support MHL, but I can't get it to work. I've got a mini USB to HDMI lead, but don't get any output at all. How do I make it work, is it supposed to just show my screen as soon as I plug it in, or do I have to use an app? Does it have to be powered or something?

What kind of MHL cable is it? It needs to be an 11-pin one (made for S3/Note 2/S4).

What device are you trying to use it with? Does it itself support MHL?
I just thought any tv would display it through HDMI as an input, didn't realise the device I connected my phone to mattered. Coincidentally though it is a Samsung. And aren't mhl cables all the same then? Samsung made their own to be arkward?
Think you need mhl 2 for the s4 and for it to display 60hz

[Q] MHL Adapter with OTG

Hey guys,
I received today my MHL adpater
http://www.ebay.com/itm/171436891054?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
The signal to the TV is working fine.
My problem is when I'm connecting devices to the USB host port, there is a power over there but my phone not responding, while those devices are working with a simple OTG cable.
Some help over here?

I have been looking for the same thing, an MHL - OTG - charging dock/adapter/dongle, I have not found anything that people report as working reliably on the S5 (I am also looking for one to work with a Note 10.1 2014).
Have you tried to connect a power supply on the micrUSB port? I have a MHL adapter and it needs external power.

Yes, I did.
I even tried connecting a USB hub and I saw there is a power from the USB Host.
Please give me a link for what you're using a direct link to eBay item.

There is a chance that will work?

I'm not using a OTG MHL, just plain MHL adapter like this:

I was under the impression you can either use mhl or otg. Not both at the same time. You tried just using the thumb drive by itself without the hdmi plugged in?
anyone had luck finding an adapter allowing you to use hdmi alongside otg?
anyone found an adapter than can do hdmi and usb host at the same time??? there seem to have plenty for s4 but nothing for s5?? although s5 is using a newer and more capable mhl if i am not wrong

it works well at same time as otg and hdmi
i am just not satisfied with the quality of the hdmi output.

i meant the image quality,to just watch and control your device its ok,to watch a 720p movie its not ok,video will be blur sometimes and it will be a little delay at sound.
few days ago i used a friends standalone hdmi adapter was performing amazing even at 1080p.
it is very nice thank you very much

I got that hdmi connection kit and it works great with my S3 doing hdmi 1080p and otg simultaneous + charging. But with my S5 it will only do hdmi 720p or otg not both. Image quality is poor on the monitor but great on the HD TV.
Maybe "Display Link" is the way to go to get wired screen mirroring and otg at the same time on the S5?
