Will the Asus Transformer support bluetooth DUN to tether to an android phone (I have a Droid Incredible) with pdanet/similar? I'd prefer bluetooth vastly to using a wifi setup due to battery drain. Has anyone poked around and seen if it can be done? Thanks!
I'm pretty sure it will to a point. On the xoom, bluetooth tethering is built right into honeycomb.
But the one problem is the only program I've got it to work with it the bluetooth tethering with the Wireless Tethering app. PDAnet won't work. I tried it with several phones.
Just fire up one of the older versions of wireless tether with bluetooth still included, and fire up bluetooth tehtering then it should show up as an option under the phone after you've paired the tablet with it.
Works great on my (much older) HTC hero so shouldn't have any problems on the Droid incredible.
Bluetooth Tether to Transformer?
I just want to clarify the original question... I would assume that you mean you want to tether your 3G connection from your phone to your ASUS Transformer?
I would like to know if it works from my Droid 1 to the Asus Transformer, just like the Xoom does. I tested this function at a store with the Xoom and it was easy and flawless. Just hoping it works on the Transformer.
Rooted Droid 1 (Wireless Tether App) -Stock rooted Froyo 2.2.2 (FRG83G)
Wireless Tether App in is Bluetooth mode.

Yup, that's what I meant: Take the 3g connection from my phone, and give it to the Transformer (by tethering the Transformer to the phone).
I have the same question regarding BT DUN tethering. I think the default BT tethering in the Android Honeycomb is BT PAN (not DUN). If anybody can confirm that Honeycomb does have a BT DUN profile, that will be great.
I'm currently using PDANet as well to tether my Evo to my netbook. It works great.
If the honeycomb does not support BT DUN, then most likely I would have to root my Evo and install another custom ROM just to enable the BT tethering.
I have my rooted Motorola Atrix tethered via Bluetooth to share my 3g connection on my transformer. Works a treat and the speed us very good.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
Probably great news!!!

Sounds like this will probably work for my rooted Droid 1 then. Maybe this is a feature of honeycomb, the processor or something. At first I was thinking the Xoom worked because both devices were made by Motorola.
My Transformer isnt showing the PAN service from my Samsung Galaxy running Wireless tether
Root in bluetooth mode.
Yes i have allowed the program access in superuser.

Bluetooth tetherng
Does this mean my phone has to be rooted before I can tether it to my TF? I really don't want to root my droid if at all possible. I've seen what has happened to my sons iPad. It was a mess! Also, what app am I installing on my Droid? There are no mention of any apps I need to install.
Thanks!

Did you tether your atrix to transformer using the app pdanet Bluetooth (DUN)? Can you tell us exactly how you set this up? I'm in the midst of getting an atrix and I'm just wondering beforehand. Thanks a lot.
I use wireless tether using bluetooth on my incredible just fine. I am, however, rooted and using CM7, but it can be done. You have to pair the wo together of course.
I was having difficulty connecting my Magic running CM6 to my Transformer via Bluetooth until I was told to install the Bluetooth File Transfer app first. Did that and it connected just fine after.
bluetooth tethering
Eeepad and htc hero.
Htc hero is rooted and the froydvillian 1.7.2-r2 rom and android version 2.2.1.
Installed wireless tether from the market (free).
Eeepad transformer has android honeycomb 3.1 newest update from asus website.
Paired thru bluetooth then start up wireless tether on the phone and there is the extra function under the wrench at the bluetooth menu from the eeepad.
I also enabled bluetooth tethering on the eeepad.
Works great and fast......
I was wondering if anyone has successfully been able to get their Honeycomb and/or Acer A500 to connect online with either a usb connection or with bluetooth?
I have a blackberry 8520 which i've installed pdanet on and as far as i know got it successfully running.
I was able to then pair the A500 up with the BB, but it said that it wasn't connected to the BB.
Is there an app that i should download and install on the tablet? I do have gingerbreak installed on here and this is rooted.
Thanks
Did you google that to see if usb is even possible.
PS - A5000 yours must be the model up from mine
I have been trying to Google it. From what I've seen, people have been able to connect via USB through their Android phones, by setting up an ad-hoc.
I've tried using the mini usb, but had no luck. And bluetooth pairs but doesn't connect.
I have been able to tether mine to my Samsung Galaxy and get the internet that way. I take it you can't do this with your BlackBerry. With regards to Bluetooth, I had a similar problem where it was paired with my phone but not connected. I noticed that if I sent a file from one to another it would then ask to connect and you had to give permission.
EDIT:
I don't know if this helps.

Has anyone successfully connected an Apple wireless keyboard?
Pairing is working fine on PRIMORDIAL 3.1 but the keyboard doesn't work.
I've already tried with BlueKeyboard Pro JP but there if I choose "Bluetooth settings" I get a ForceClose

Same on Prime 1.4. My co-worker has one and I paired it up, but was never able to select it as an input method.
Not sure if its a HC issue or Prime Issue
You can connect it successfully with the app "Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect". But this only works about 50% of the time, sometimes you have to reboot the Transformer...
has any one done it after rooting their transformer? i just got my transformer yesterday and im not sure if i want to root it yet, but i do need the a keyboard and i already have an apple one. if there is no way of getting the keyboard to work with out root i guess i will root but i wanted to leave it stock. Any suggestions? or should i just go ahead and root the dang thing?
Guys,
I have HTC Evo 4g and samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and i can get the two units to pair but i cant share the internet from the evo 4g on bluetooth. The only reason i want to use bluetooth is to save the battery life on the phone. Did anyone was successful and if yes how? Both units are rooted.
I run the evo deck 1.3 rom and it works without issue.

sending internet via bluetooth?
@OP: you cant send it via bluetooth you need to enable wireless tether and tether the two devices...
All I had to do was enable the Bluetooth on both, pair them and hit configure on the device from the tablet and enable tethering.
I am running tiamat kernel on the evo and the 1.4oc kernel on the tab (stock rom), both are rooted. Enabling the connection automatically turns on wireless tether in Bluetooth mode on the evo.
Running the latest version of virtuous xoom 1.1.2, android 3.2. bought the acer bluetooth iconia keybaord, and it connects, but i get no responses from the tablet. it thinks its connected, but nothing happens when i hammer on the keys. any ideas?
