I'm having major missed call issues and was wondering how many people are having the same issue?
Also has anyone contacted Verizon about this issue? If so, what did they do about it?

From lurking around i've seen that a lot of people are having this problem, regardless of rom/kernel/baseband etc... I myself have this missed call 'bug' and as of right now I don't believe there's anything we can do to fix it yet. As for telling VZ, yes they know about it and many people have complained, although they wont do much besides offer you a replacement Fascinate or a "comparable" phone (read: Droid X). If you're lucky you can smooth talk or berate them into giving you MAYBE a Droid X2 or Incredible 2.

I have posted this in another forum thread about missing calls on the Fascinate, and I wanted to update this one as well with the updated information. This software release will address multiple issue including text messaging issues. Here's what I posted in some other threads:
I have been keeping track of this issue, and I have some news for those having the issue.
This has been escalated to the manufacturer. They rigorously tested and researched this specific issue. Samsung has developed a confirmed fix for the phones not ringing as of 06/30/11. We are working with them to finalize the fix and deliver it to the phones. I really wish I had an ETA to give everyone, but we don't have one yet. I just wanted to keep everyone in the loop.
Historically, these fixes have been pushed or updated via a software update. Here's a link to the Samsung Fascinate software update page in case we push this fix in a similar fashion. This page will update when we get very close to delivering the update if done via OTA software update.
Thanks again for everyone's feedback and patience.
Edited Note: I have also removed the resolution for this post. Perhaps once the software updates are launched, tested, and confirmed by multiple users as resolving the issue, then we can mark this as solved. Our goal is to fix issues, not just see the a green check mark on the page to make everyone feel better. I apologize about that, and I agree it was completely marked in error.

Many forum posts were devoted to the Google Maps update which included bicycle navigation, under claims that it broke many features including spoken navigation. With this, I didn't install.
However, not installing brings a reminder every single day (thank goodness I mute the phone before going to sleep).
Does anyone know if updating Google Maps is still a bad idea?
I must have missed those threads.
I haven't had or read of any GMM issues since the bicycle maps were added.
EDIT: I've been sticking to the Incredible sections of the various android forums though, so maybe it was another phone that had issues?
Its this one!!!

Ummm ... its this thread actually (a mod consolidated some time ago); but I will take it that your Incredible does not suffer from the items listed at the top of this thread?
I'll go look for that thread and take a look.
But I'm a "show me" kind of person, so I just Navigated to somewhere and the nice lady started telling me where to go.
What is the thread you are referring to? This thread is only a couple of hours old and isn't consolidated?
... I seem to be missing something.
Sorry ... here you go
I am super embarrased. I prefer to go to IncredibleForum, but I always fall back on my old home of XDA (recently coming from a tilt). The thread I referred to was on IncredibleForum
http://www.incredibleforum.com/forum/htc-incredible-apps/984-dont-download-update-google-maps.html
but PRIMARILY THIS ONE
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/05/11/google-maps-4-2-update-breaking-navigation/
Any thoughts are appreciated!
ok, here's the skinny.
In both of those threads there is NO ONE with any sort of issue except the OP on that one thread (suzieq or whoever). And her problem seems coincidental and I'm sure would be fixed with a factory reset.
I will admit that I've been slacking and haven't been to incredibleforums in a couple of weeks (I forgot about them because they're not in my incredible bookmarks for some reason). But had not previously read any issues related to GMM and the latest updates.
One More?

Here is the main article on Droid Life
http://www.droid-life.com/2010/05/11/google-maps-4-2-update-breaking-navigation/
Yeah, I read that.
No one in there posting comments, not even the author, have any issues ... lol
The author does mention having an issue with pinch to zoom.
The only thing they say is something about comments on the Market.
There are no issues with GMM that should stop any of us from updating. Update the darn thing already.
Ok, so Google Voice is awesome - who doesn't love receiving calls in gmail? Texting via the webUI rules too.
But many times when I send a message via the handset app (updated of course), it will sit there 'sending' for a while, then tell me message could not be sent.
The sucky part is that sometimes it actually did send the message, and then my poor dumbphone friends get duplicate sms from me.
I've looked around for solutions online, but no luck. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions around? Is it an issue outside of Google's jurisdiction? It does seem to happen more often when 3G is weak.
Fascinate, Voodoo'd.
Thanks!
Google voice is awesome and crappy all at the same time. It seems to have a mind of it's own and sometimes just fails to send correctly the first time.

i used to have that problem. try these two different steps out, or both, because that's what fixed my "Message..." and duplicate messages:
1. Dial *228 and reactivate your data
2. Upgrade to DJ05
jt's Super Clean DJ05 v0.9 + jt's 11/29 stable non-voodoo kernel
Posted this very same problem in this very same forum. DJ05 is the solution. A little search helps.

Thanks for the help, but I did do 'a little search', followed by peering carefully at the forum's suggested similar threads specifically trying to avoid the situation that happens every day on every forum out there:
NOOB: I have a question or comment showing my ignorance.
FREQUENT POSTER: Here's your answer, but only with some thinly veiled irritation at NOOB wasting my time.
Why do people think that it's ok to be sarcastic or sometimes even flame just because we aren't face to face? Its the same twisted psychology as road rage.
As an intelligent, tech savvy, well read person, I can tell you that the biggest barrier to becoming a meaningful part of any online community is the propensity of its residents to be snippy with offenders.

What's The Right Way to upgrade to DJ05
Is there a thread where that's explained?
My understanding with voodoo was that it would have to be removed completely before I could switch to another ROM. Is that the case? If so, is the only way as described in the sticky about 'how to remove voodoo completely?'
Get pissed. If we were face to face I would have told you the same thing. Search this particular forum for "google voice" (or xda in general for fascinate "google voice") and this exact issue is already posted and solved, and not buried either. The reason "newbs" get "flamed" for making repeat threads is because it clutters up the forums with junk making it more difficult for users with the same problem to find the proper solution. If you think I was being a jerk for pointing this out while offering the solution then swell for you. The last word is all yours, theres not much more for me to argue about.

Yeah, I understand the reason, and of course it's not outrageous. Why not just link to the thread with the solution if somebody misses it? Then I would have felt dumb, instead of angry at the predictable snottiness.
Forums = Clutter. Maybe there's an idea for a startup there?
Snotty beamed me twice last night. It was wonderful.

can you give me a date?
and I just read that there isn't an option to use the device as a disk drive, is it true?
It will be pushed out on 11.01.2012 but this is very confidential information, please don't tell anybody!

You're in the wrong place, pal. If you really want an answer, you'll have to find a connection within Motorola... if they even have a hard date set. If you want to be taken seriously, take time to search and read before posting a question. You'd find dozens of threads on the topic in the xoom forums alone (unfortunately, since others choose not to searrch, too) and you'd quickly learn there is no answer to your question here.
You can have ICS on your xoom today if you want it, just not from Moto. Again, do some reading and research and you can determine whether available alternatives are right for you, or whether to wait for a not-yet-announced official update.
Nearly everyone here is helpful and will assist if you do your homework and still have questions... but you have to take yourself and your own questions seriously before you can expect anyone else to do so... or you can choose to be roasted.

first of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to write your answer.
I did searched(not in XDA, I searched on google) for the answer and found a lot of articles about the XOOM getting the ICS update but they all were very old so I thought that maybe Motorola released a date for the update and I didn't found an answer for that so I decided to ask here.

The problem is, and always will be - you can never set a solid release date for software upgrades when it comes to this 'chain' that the update must go through in order to be released to us.
From a manufacturer and carrier standpoint, they could never give even the slightest hint of a date for a software release until its imminently close. Reason being, there are so many variables and factors affecting a particular update. If they gave any sort of date other than "soon", then if they missed that date that everyone was expecting - customers would blow a gasket.
So essentially, from their standpoint, it is MUCH safer to keep from giving any sort of date of release.
Bottom Line: An official ICS update should be coming sometime soon. Speculation says the U.S. Wifi-only XOOM will be the first, and then others will soon follow. That is the most we know at this point.
So pull up a chair, grab a beer, and join the rest of us as we compulsively surf these android forums every day for the next piece of news to come forward.

I had some good guidance (some nice, some not so nice) when I first started using xda, so glad to pass it along. The best was not to start a new thread except as a last resort - most questions are already asked and answered somewhere, and if not there is a likely an existing thread/discussion in which the question fits. For the most part, xda members aren't jerks and are extremely helpful... but the frustration factor rises quickly when the same questions are asked and answered repeatedly. As you'll probably be told at some time, it is a developers forum not really a users forum... they've just chosen to let us in (because we help test what they're dev'ing).
One more suggestion - be more careful with your topic titles. I opened the thread to read assuming you were posting some official announcement... and would bet most others did, too. Be more clear with the title and you increase the odds that you'll get readers that can/will help.
BTW, I'm still getting used to the xda search function (a bit cumbersome, works best in my opinion searching within a subforum), and often prefer a Google search myself. If you add "xda" to your Google search terms, you'll often find what you need.

I understand your concern, the more they wait the less we can play with our toy until that other date (ya know, 23/12/2012)
I'll give you a real answer. No body knows.
It seems like the last few updates were dropped with no prior warning. I assume ICS will be a different situation and they would at least give a little heads up (or so I would hope.) If you have a 4G VZW XOOM, expect to wait another month so Verizon can tinker around with it first.
Or, if you want it now, just go to the dev section and flash the wonderful EOS ROM. It takes all of 15 minutes to do if you're already rooted. In fact, I spent more time downloading the files than I did actually flashing the recovery and the ROM + a few bits and pieces that make it work. It's well worth it.
Hope this answers your question.
After getting dragged along month-to-month waiting for an official Android update with previous devices, I've come to the personal conclusion that I'll never wait for an official Android update ever again. The custom ROMs from these forums are always better and are always available far in advance of any official release.
You may want to give this a try. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400958&page=82
Team EOS (formerly Team Tiamat) has proved to be one of the elite Android dev teams in my opinion and are worth following because they always have something new to try out.
Typically, the update will come in waves and there will be a leak to the blogs a few days before...
Kudos to the people who took the OP and his question seriously. There's no justification for being a d*** to someone who probably isn't familiar with all of the ins and outs of XDA. Come on now...
Anyway, you can watch paint dry in way less time than a carrier or OEM will deliver an official Android version update to their devices (assuming you're using something other than a Nexus device) so custom ROMs are definitely the way to go. It is not uncommon for devs here to release official ROMs before the carriers/OEMs LOL! To that end, check out one of the ICS ROMs from Team EOS in the Xoom development section. Root your Xoom if you haven't done so already, flash one of their ICS ROMs and enjoy . The devs here on XDA are good for releasing ROMs and updates in a timely manner.
I wanted to detail how much different the subsections are in xda, and how much you guys rock in this one.
Rant!-
I got jumped on in the mt4g section for posting a bug that was persisting through SEVERAL factory resets and rom flashes..for some reason i kept getting errors for processes for Samsung (on a htc..) And sign in failure for verizon (on a t mobile phone ). Even after wiping and re flashing different roms these problems persisted..so i detailed my attempt to find out why i got the bug, asked other users if they had experienced it (none had) and eventually traced the problem to the test rom i had installed. I brought this to the dev's attention by linking to my q&a thread on his dev thread only to be scolded that the issues were known, it was a test rom that i had no business flashing anyways, i should have read the thread as the issues were mentioned and known (which is why other users had never heard or experienced the issue??) And then the dev, on my account, pulled the link to the rom which angered other users whom then joined in chorus to say it was my own fault for not reading the bugs, when i said it wasn't in the bug list, was told "he doesn't have time to make a bug list for every test rom" (so where i was supposed to read that this bug existed i was never able to find, even after requesting to be linked to it).
The real icing on the cake was the fact that i spent 7 hours troubleshooting the bug, only a nandroid backup fixed it and thank god i had done a backup before installing it, and had searched extensively on Google in general and within xda forum for anyone having similar issue and no result, but was looked at as if i had wandered in, said "oh this looks cool"and flashed it and then proceeded to spam the dev thread with my problems.
Needless to say, I'll be selling this phone and not returning to that section as i am clearly not wanted there..rant over.
I want to say thanks to the devs in this section for being patient and helpful in the face of extreme ignorance, and to the users for understanding that not everyone on this site with less than 500 posts is a noob expecting to be spoon fed. I fear some of these communities are becoming to exclusive rather than inclusive. Transformer owners and developers as i have seen are very friendly and patient and I've gotten to like you all..
Even you goodintentions..
Thanks for showing that xda can be an inclusive community!
OK, flame on...
WRONG SECTION - USELESS POST! MODS PLEASE DELETE!!11!!ONE!1211
Ok, joking aside, I'm guessing maybe because tablet owners tend to be older then you're average high schooler we have a maturer crowd here?
I go by, if I can't help, then move on. No need to "flame" someone and get in an online battle...
And are you really going to get rid of your mt4g because of rude/inconsiderate people on the internet?
To join in on the rant.... READ READ READ READ READ..... so when are you supposed to post?
You would think that low post numbers mean more reading and less "got any updates?" or "Ya i agree". I personally only registered because i had a question that i couldn't find the answer to. Having been around forums for a while now (and i mean a long time) i have seen your situation at least once a year and sometimes it can be because the bug just totally pisses them off coz they cant fix it.
Totally agree.... the devs and gurus here are amazing. This truly is the place to be if you wanna hack and slash the device you have.
So thanks to all of you that make our devices so much more than we bought so that we can do whatever the hell we want with them.
Thanks again
I agree with OP. XDA has become a huge flame war where I feel that most people just post in threads to get their post count up. You have very few in here that will flame you for posting in the wrong section or repeating something that has already been posted(8 pages back).
Nature of the beast I guess. Next to head-fi.org this is one of the kindest sections I know.
It isn't my primary phone, and was intending to do that anyway, but the fact that the community is so immature and now hates me, there is no incentive to keep it
Oh well..on to the next device
EDIT: (One more thing I found funny, but no point in starting another thread)
While researching NVFlash and ubuntu/debian on the TF101 I came across this quote;
.. WARNING:: some/all TF101G (the 3G model) are expected to have a
different SBK. Until you know the SBK that corresponds to your
device, you *can not install Debian*.
To acquire an SBK, perform rubber-hose or black-bag cryptanalysis

LMFAO, I just read Applied Cryptography by Bruce Schneier..if any of you are unfamiliar with 'rubber hose' and 'black bag' cryptanalysis, google it
I agree so far from what I have seen in this fora. I have only had my tablet for about a week. But in deciding which tablet to buy, I read many, many different device forums to get a feel for just as many things. ROMs, Kernels, un/locked bootloaders, support and even accessories. I did the same thing when I bought a new phone. That is where I remember Baseballfanz from. The NS forums.
The thing with the post count is kind of strange. I have seen several people with below 50 posts, phrase an articulate question with nearly all the neccessary info. Whereas I have seen others with 500, 800, 1k posts with like you said, small blobs about nothing. Those just waste my time and I want to delete them, but I can't.
Similar to your situation, only my experience was the knight in shining armor. There was this person in the Vibrant forums who would just pounce on noobs about searching. I had just come from a Motorola forum that was by far one of the most helpful places I had ever been. That is actually where I learned about, well everything basically. Anyways, back to the Vibrant. I had gotten tired of seeing this person post the same replies all the time and flaming noobs. I thrashed him really hard about it and brought to his attention why they were asking these things (ever been in panic mode with your $500-$700 phone?) and sometimes the search button brings up more info that you need. You can easily lose track of why you were searching in the first place. He actually posted a thread apologizing and stating that he would be more helpful in the future (it has since been deleted).
Best advice I can give to someone is read, read and read but also give all the information that you can when asking the question. YOU may not think it is relevant, but I might.
I spoke to tech support last night and they did not have any information regarding this model of the Galaxy Note 10.1. Since they didn't seem very knowledgeable I sent Samsung support an email where I stated that while I do enjoy my tablet I'm rather taken aback by the lack of updates. I requested that they at least state that they're not releasing updates for this instead of having us keep hoping.
I got this reply earlier this afternoon:

Dear Steve ****,
Thank you for contacting Samsung. I understand that you are not happy with the Samsung Note as there are no updates on it.
I know how you feel as a customer. If I had been in your situation, I would feel the same.
If you are referring to the GT-N8013 Note, I am afraid to inform that, latest version available is 4.1.2. I do understand that must make you feel upset. We do not have any information on release of updates on your tablet model. I do not want to provide any false information. Hope you understand.

This obviously doesn't mean other tablets won't get updates and it's clear that the 2014 Galaxy Note 10.1 will, but it is a little refreshing to at least know not to expect anything. Disappointing, but refreshing. Hopefully this'll clarify any doubts.
Maybe I'll start working on a ROM for it. Haven't made one in a while.
Where did they say that no updates are coming? They said none are available and they don't have any information to provide on when they would be coming. Samsung has already officially announced that the tablet will be being updated to 4.4

Enjoy your TABLET No real need to chase updates. My note works perfect as it is. Thou i would enjoy the new update its not killing me not having it..
Good Luck.

False title as the body of the OP conflicts with it. Do we really need threads like this? Do we not have better things to do?

When do you realize that the Samsung support is just a joke - nothing more or less... They have no info, they don't know anything and if something happens, they know it last... Sorry, but that I feel about them.
This thread is useless. There's official information out there sent out by Samsung's Press Dpt. Why did you even bother asking a tech guy/tech support when one says one thing and another says something else? Like:
- "Your tablet will get the Android OS update" (LOL, no mention of version nor anything else)
- "The Galaxy Note will get 4.2 Android update" (Yeah.....)
- "No updates"
- "No info"
Basically that resumes how useless this information was to our forums (it does not contribute to anything, really). So please request to delete this. Or you could've at least posted in the appropriate thread.
