Note: This takes your tab to build number P7510UEKF3. If you already have it pre-installed you won't need this update.
Some of you might have read the news that said the TouchWiz UX update for Galaxy Tab 10.1 is coming soon. Samsung says user have to add Samsung account on the tablet in order to receive the update. (you can read details on Samsung website)
So I added Samsung account. Then I go into settings -> about tablet -> system update -> update, and I got this:

PS: I think you will still get this update without adding a Samsung account. Have anybody tried it?
i tried the steps but it says no update available. BTW how's your device life battery life?
No update available here either.

I think it would be 8 or 9 hours. It would be shorter if WiFi is on.
Were you rooted before? And if so did the update remove root?

I bought my tab on 10th June, the 3rd day after Samsung released it, I think it was the earliest version. So, if you got yours later than me, maybe your version would be newer, and you won't get what i got.

Haven't yet. I won't consider it till I get the next TouchWiz UX update.
I had this Version preinstalled
I think this update has killed Market Enabler for me. My tablet is still rooted but Market Enabler doesn't load at start up anymore so I'm back to not being able to purchase paid apps . I'm thinking that maybe if my tablet was one of the ones that shipped with the bootloader unlocked MAYBE I wouldn't have this problem now
I already had the build that was pushed. I didn't realize it since there are actually 2 numbers before the last build number. The build number on my Tab is HMJ37.UEKF3.P7510UEKF3.
Maybe this is why I haven't had some of the problems and issues I've seen here like keyboard lag, etc.?

Check this:

Check you table build number first, you won't get any update if the build number is already P7510UEKF3.

tks! let me try!
Update: I tried but i cant signin (wrong password), i tried to use another email account to register but i got "process failed", then after that when i try register again, i got "account already exist"!
Not sure if anyone can help me with this...
however, my device is running the latest version for firmware already. but will need sign in samsung acc eventually for the big update in future... i have already emailed samsung and m waiting for them to reply. =(
I am already running the newer version number, but when I attempted to create an account, I got a "Processing error." When I attempted to re-create the account I got another error saying it already existed. Then I tried in to sign in the the user/pass, and it said "Processing error."
Gotta say, I love the Samsung hardware, but their UI must be developed by monkeys.
Also noted that you can't use your Samsung account you may have used to register your device (and set up your warranty), and you can't use any email with "Samsung" in the address.
So they took the time to check for "samsung" in the email, but not the time to make sure it works.
Good job, Samsung, good job.
Yeah I created an account (sign up) after I figured out that you cant use your samsung.com account (which is insanely stupid) and now everytime I boot the tablet I get two force closes courtesy of Samsung Account.
So, advice from my mistakes:
-Dont try to use your samsung.com account.
-Dont sign up with the exact same account information as your samsung.com account
I checked aLogCat for errors and it shows authetication errors. The biggest problem is now I cant determine how to change the password through settings and Accounts....and I refuse to factory reset the tablet because there should be a file or SQLite Db I can update.....where that is i have yet to find.

Mine came with that firmware already as well.
Mine came with that firmware also (Bought on Amazon 6/30). I registered my 10.1 on Samsung's site using the same Gmail address as my Android account. The only issue I had was Firefox 3.6.18 (done on desktop pc) wouldn't render the whole product info page so I couldn't enter all the info. I had to switch to Google Chrome browser.

All information in this FAQ is based on the GT-I9000 International version. Most of them also apply to the other models. The I9000M and I9000T are virtually identical to the I9000 and are mostly compatible with I9000 software. The I9000B has an added digital television receiver and is generally not as compatible. No 3G/GPRS/EDGE after flashing?
Is very common that after flashing a new firmware or kernel your device isn't conecting to 3G. WHY? Because many of the firmwares or kernels wipe all the user data includig de APN, wich contains the neccesary info to connect your device to 3G networks. But don't worry, this is not the end of the world. You could Add your APN confirgation just following this steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Go to Wireless and network
3. Then go to Mobile networks
4. You will find the Acces Point Names or APN were should be the info to connect to 3G, click here
5. After that, use the "phisical" button of menu
6. Choose New APN
7. Set the configurarion of your carrier/mobile network (This info could be found at carrier/mobile network web page or just simply googling)
8. Done! you have your SGS configurated
To prevent loose the APN data, exists many apps wich could help. One of them is APN Backup & Restore a simple FREE App to backup and restore APNs. Very usefull.
The are some devices that's not necessary to back up data or add the data again, just conecting to 3G will download and apply de data by itselfs.

Sync Error
Hello, thanks for creating this topic. We were really needed it!
I bought an SGS in Brazil, operator Vivo, Android 2.1 (Eclair) and upgraded to the 2.2 Froyo (Live - ZVV) using Odin (no pit). Since then, I'm having problems with Orkut sync.
When orkut account is selected, "Feeds and Updates" widget always displays the error: "Service Unavailable".
Under Settings / Accounts and synchronization features: Synchronization error "Synchronization is currently having problems. They will return soon" and does not synchronize the contacts on orkut.
This has been more than a month, since when I have done several roms updates, using odin (including re-partition) and Kies.
The only thing that worked a while, was to create a new Orkut account (in fact, google account) but after a factory reset, stopped again.
Other SNSAccounts work well, I have no problems with Twitter to Facebook, only Orkut.
I posted here because I think Orkut is a SNSAccount available only in Brazil.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

What about this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782686
Lots of related information there
try using Kies Registry patcher and choose ZTO for Vivo then update over Kies. I use to update my phone, mine was chilean Claro with Eclair. This is the official version of the operator and comes with Orkut
Is there any chance to have a ROM for Claro Mobile users which I suppose is ZTA? I´ve tried KIES and Kies Registry Patcher but got my SGS frozen if I choose ZVV and got "not available update" when using ZTA.
Thanks
Edited: I've finally made it. Using KIES and patch along ZVV spoof option. Now Froyo 2.2.
Personally I recommend I9000BVJJPD fw for updates, it is unbranded and the last version know, the firmwares from operators are too old (september, october, november).
Then root the phone and download "Uninstaller for root" from market, for delete some useless apps like "Braintest" or "Asphalt 5"
2.2 JPD
Yes, I am using this too. Works pretty well, and better than JPA. I had some wifi issues with JPA, magically solved in JPD.
There is a JPY which is a work-in-progress. So, JPD is the latest and greatest.

For brazilian users, yo can enter to androidz.com.br where a user (ffosilva) modified the kernell, so any ROM can work with the i9000b (the only thing that doesn´t work is the TV), for argentinian users (or from peru and chile) go to grupoandroid.com.
For example, I have my i9000b with a 2.2.1 JS3 (the last one) ROM "cooked" by me using the DOCs ROM Kitchen that is in development section

Guys, i update mine with froyo and lost 3G, i have TIM and CLARO chips, neither of them get 3G connections... just Gprs and Edge..
Also the signal got a little weird, for instance CLARO signal at my house gets weak and shows the message "EMERGENCY CALLS ONLY", if i use the same chip in another phone, gets FULL signal...
If anyone has the same problem or solution please contribute!
Thanks
P.s.: Sometimes in CLARO I get FULL signal and the emergency calls only message disappears, bur when I try to make a call, it says "DATA NETWORK UNAVAILABLE"

Help from changing VIVO froyo to unbranded froyo
I'm from Perú, and last month I upgraded to brazilian froyo (I9000B_JPA_JP3_JPA_JPA_VJ_ZVV_BRAZIL) using odin. With this version I am having issues with wireless and GPS. My question is how can I change to the unbranded version. I have lagfix and root installed. Do I have to undo the lagfix and the root first? Is it possible to install the unbranded version and don't lose the applications installed??
Please confirm
Thanks!

As many of you know, all devices that have a Exynos processor have a security hole, called EXYNOS EXPLOIT.
Basically, this security hole allowes apps to have complete access to everything on your device.
For more information on this security hole, click:
http://www.google.com/search?q=samsung+exynos+exploit
Samsung has released new firmware for exynos devices, these firmwares close this security hole.
For your own security, every Note 10.1 should change to the latest 2013 firmware.
2013 firmware has a code that ends with M** for example:
N8010XXUCMA5 (4.1.2)
N8000XXCMA1 (4.1.2)
N8013UEUCMA3 (4.1.2)
You can get the newest firmware on samsung-updates.com and samfirmware.com.
Firmware on these sites is official Samsung firmware from Samsung Kies.
About country versions and OTA updates:
Experience shows that the waiting time for your country firmware version or an OTA update for your country depends on the priority your country has for samsung (waiting time of 1 day, many months or possibly never get an update for your country).
Samsung firmware for the Note 10.1 includes all languages and is almost identical in all country versions (with exception of the China version).
Also the Taiwan version offers all languages at setup. You just have to select Samsung Keyboard in your language version in settings and the firmware will be like your own country version.
You should backup all your data/apps/settings with something like Titanium backup, install the new firmware and then do a factory reset.
You can also not do the factory reset, but you may have compatibility problems.
To install firmware on your Note 10.1 you need Odin.
You can download it here:

What you posted does not contradict me. you refered to 3 roms and say they are 4.1.2. They are not all 3 4.1.2. The fix is in the boot image, not in android. If you take your 4.1.2 and change only the boot image, you are again with security hole.

will there be an official update?
Legion, can you update the first post with some more specific advice. Is this THE ota exynos update? Are Sammy going to release this OTA or is this it? Is this image for ALL devices irrespective of country. How it affects region specific devices. Also, flashing details etc.
I was under the impression that Bri was for Taiwan specific devices only! But I read somewhere that this update can be flashed regardless of region.
I think a little more advice on the first post would help users here.
I'm downloading now and will update as soon as, but a lot of users won't download based on the first post being unclear.
Riki
As per I know all patches will be release via OTA, the US 4.1.2 rom is already patch the German 4.1.2 rom has received the patch via OTA. Others I am not aware of but yes it will come out in form of an OTA. The OTA should be around 10 - 20 MB
So this download is NOT needed then? Is there any point downloading the ROM Legion has linked to?
The roms he has linked are stock firmwares for regions like Germany, US which have already received the patch. If you are on stock rom for your country then wait you will receive the OTA soon, if you are on a stock rom from another region then you will not so it makes sense to flash the German rom.
Also a question to all those how many device have been harmed because of exploit till date I have not seen even a single member posting about it so I do not think it is as serious as we make out to be
Well, downloaded and installed on ma tab UK 8010. Been messing around with it for the last half hour, checking everything works as it should.
Device OFFICIAL status.
Allshare Cast works fine.
No issues with language.
Seems slightly smoother and faster.
All tested apps work as they did prior.
Still 4.1.1 as expected. Exynos exploit fixed.
So, I would say given my previous thread, IF you have issues with Kies or OTA I would download and install.

Absolutely agree with Samir. Why would you downgrade to 4.1.1 just to fix a feature which seems never to have caused a problem!
Other than allowing the Note10.1 to be much easier to root for the hundreds (probably thousands) of users who have used the simple rooting method using the Exynos Exploit?

I think I would rather wait for the "official" OTA update than download from a unknown source, thanks all the same.
Dont worry his source are geniune as they are the samfirmware stock rom links so do not worry about the source
pwatkins said:
Absolutely agree with Samir. Why would you downgrade to 4.1.1 just to fix a feature which seems never to have caused a problem!
Other than allowing the Note10.1 to be much easier to root for the hundreds (probably thousands) of users who have used the simple rooting method using the Exynos Exploit?

I agree, but I was on 4.1.1 anyway. So closing a potential issue is a no brainer for me. It may well be the best/easiest way to root the tab but having such a potentially dangerous exploit there is not worth the risk.
Just because no one has been affected (or reported having been affected, or even knows they are affected) doesn't justify keeping it open. Especially IF you use the tab for banking, or other financial or work purposes!
My thoughts anyway.
Well its not that someone can use the exploit by magic they need a disguise to do that in form of an app or something else so if you are using it for banking then you would anyways be extra sure of the source of apps you install or website you browse.
Also once you patch it does not mean that your device cannot be hacked there are many other ways to it may be the above one was the easiest.
Again I am in no advocating not to patch the exploit but just putting some facts. Infact there was an article which said there were may fishing apps on google play itself
Way I see it is simple. The tab has a major exploit, the option to fix that exploit is now available. Folks can argue semantics/doomsday scenarios all day long, but it don't change the facts!
Peace
I just receive an OTA update
And I didn't found any release note about this update.
Is this 40.22 for 550?

Me too, i have received it and did not found any post on the Zentalk forums...
Installing now, let's see how it goes...
changelog same as the last update for 551ml
update file size 42.06 MB
I won't bother with this one - I gather I wouldn't need to unroot first because used root method 3, but I probably would still unfreeze apps and unroot just to be safe. Too much hassle for this OTA, which does nothing relevant to me as far as I can see.

I CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW LUCKY I AM!!!
I am rooted with method 3 so I wasn't afraid of updating the OTA, I saw the update came, downloaded it and installed it quickly.
But then I remembered that I had some ASUS Apps and Bloatware frozen, I thought I would get a Bootloop and then I would have to downgrade and lose all my data, but once the update was installed, I couldn't boot normally even from the recovery mode, it forced me to install the OTA, after the bootanimation I saw Apps being updated x out of 128... Hope it works well even with frozen apps, am at App 93 out of 128 now, wish me luck.
Maybe there is a 50%-50% chance to get Bootloop with frozen Apps.
I received the update too. Can anyone notice any difference?

thats amazing news :good: there is this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61717428&postcount=380 and this guy is also reporting the same thing....no bootloops after update even without un-freezing the apps...If a new update arrives will try to update my phone without un-freezing the apps and will confirm whether it is really needed to un-freeze apps or not
So, battery drain fixed?
.22 was awful, before that I got through the day with 20-30% available at night, but .22 crushed my battery.
Is it available for 551 as well?

Trust me, don't do it..probably he is not getting bootloop because .23 is not upgrading apps but only something in the code, if arrives an update that updates the apps or parts of them, you will get bootloop.

On the 551 they released the .22 update that added this:
"1 Add kill switch (Anti-theft) function for US and Canada regulation.
2 Improve modem capability in India
3 Fixed the issue that cannot phone with Tailand True Provider SIM1."
As you can see, they didn't update translation (for example) or anything regarding the ZenUI (probably this .23 is the .22 we received on the 551).
In the past Asus released updates that included upgrades in apps like "power saver", or updated transations in other apps, if they are frozen, when the phones tries to create the new cache for the app, it will bootloop.. this update doesn't touch your apps.
You understood now?

Ohhh i didnt thought of that :good: thanks for the save... btw does the bootloop occur only on this device or it happens with all the android devices? For samsung and other devices if u freeze the apps and update via ota does it also gets into a bootloop or is it specific to this device?

I think it's the same, the system needs to create the new caches and finalize the update, I can't test it but I think it's the same, because it's android related and not Asus only.

Same for me on 2.13 on my 550. My battery life has been generally decent, but it's terrible today! Ignore the red mobile network bar (that is because I use a data-only sim), but what the hell is going on with all those wakes (the phone was in my desk with the screen sleeping and no apps running nearly all morning). And the weirdest thing is the bar of WiFi activity around lunchtime. My WiFi was turned off!! Sort it out ASUS ffs.

I flashed TWRP 2.8.7.0_4.4 with ODIN and had no issues getting it to stick. When the device reboots after the ODIN flash, make sure you are immediately holding the home button and volume up button. As long as you can get it to boot into TWRP immediately after the flash, it will stick.
However, flashing SuperSU resulted in a bootloop immediately after. Guess we need a new root for this firmware. If you care, http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/help/twrp-4-4-build-5-1-1-rom-t3216561 is a thread I started for this. Any feedback on whether it includes the new snote and new spen features like smart clip from Note 4 or Note 5
In p605 now is possibile write a note in lockscreen

The pen window has these commands now:
Air Command (no change)
Smart Select (where old Scrap Booker was)
Image Clip (where old Screen Write was)
Screen Write (where old S-Finder was)
Pen Window (no change)
So I think the answer is "Yes" depending on what you mean by "Smart Clip"
Root!

I tried the instructions on Post 144 here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lollipop-5-1-1-galaxy-note-10-t3215876/page15
It works without doing Step 1 (i.e. on the Stock Tmobile ROM)! All credit goes to @bluecat for doing the work and @M3r71n0 for the English translation!

Were you able to install the SuperSU beta via TWRP? I just get that the file is corrupt and can't go any further. I was able to flash the new ROM and TWRP using the first few steps.
Yes. I am not sure if a final version has been released.
Has anyone here observed that ever since updating to lollipop that it won't store Wi-Fi credentials through reboots? It seems every time I reboot my tablet I have to reconnect to my Wi-Fi...
Edit... it seems that it's not just reboots that causes the WiFi to forget the saved networks. Turning WiFi off and then back on again will also cause it to forget all saved networks. Not sure what to do to fix this this time...
Just tried a factory reset to see if maybe I just had a dirty flash or something... Didn't help. Is anyone else having this problem?
Should have asked first, are you on stock, or did you try to root using the P605 guide? If you are rooted, then open up /system/build.prop and change ro.securestore.support from true to false to fix the wifi issue... If you are on stock, read on for some suggestions...
I do not have this problem. Based on other people discussing something similar on OTHER devices, few things you may want to try are below ... Please note that I am NOT an expert and there is a good chance I am citing discussions that have NOTHING to do with your problem. 1 and 2 should be safe and not do any damage to your device, but 3 might be risky. So, please try solutions at your own risk ...
1) Forget/Delete the connection once and connect to it again from scratch by entering the password. Right now you reenter the password when the device forgets it, but some people seemed to be discussing how deleting a working connection and reentering password manually seems to fix it. No idea why this would work!
2) Since you already did a factory reboot, one suggestion I saw elsewhere was to flash the new ROM with ODIN, then reflash it again right away. Again, absolutely no idea if or why this might ever work!
3) Are you sure you updated to the RIGHT LL ROM for your device? The most frequent reason I see for this is if you flashed the wrong device/region ... For example, if you are on the P607T (T-Mobile) and flashed the Nordic (NEE) ROM that is listed in the root guides on this site, that might mess up your wi-fi. Some discussion I saw on this suggested flashing the correct MODEM file manually.
If you ever figure it out, please come back and share your solution!

I actually have the SM-P607T and I downloaded the stock ROM from Youmobile and flashed with Odin because Kies and Smart Switch kept locking up on me. I started fresh and only restored apps after flashing an unsecured boot and rerooting.
This suggestion worked perfectly. Stored WiFi passwords now survive reboots and turning WiFi on and off.
I would have quite literally found that. Thank you SO much! That little problem was wildly inconvenient but it's fixed now.
Thanks again.

No problem! This is apparently quite a common issue and you would have bumped into a discussion sooner or later... I noticed that even the thread with the unsecured boot image has now been updated with this information
Thanks for that link btw ... Does everything else work alright with that kernel on the P607T? The P605 is AT&T, if I am not mistaken and I am unsure what changes exist between that and the T-Mo version. Its strange that Samsung has released so much on its opensource portal for the 605, but literally just one source for the 607T. Perhaps because the base code is the same? No idea, but if you are happy with your performance out of this kernel, let us know...

I'm actually quite pleased with performance and usability of my P607T with the stock 5.1.1 ROM installed. Everything works as expected except for that wifi issue and that's now fixed thanks to your info a few posts up.
I can't speak to whether or not the base code is the same or not I would imagine that the code is likely very similar if not the same because I had "[ROM][P605][5.0.2] Besonderes; a Touchwiz Lollipop ROM for Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 LTE" which is made for the P605 installed on my P607T and everything worked except wifi direct which is actually very important to me because my work program requires it.
Now I can't keep my tablet rooted because the program I use for work won't load with the tablet rooted. This has been the case since 4.4.4 too so no big deal..
What I have to do is go into supersu and turn root on and off as needed. A bit inconvenient but it works...

Good to know everything works well ...
Blue Cat has been sharing his source files and config and suggested some ways to compare P605 with P607T to figure out if they are the same or how similar they are. Its been a while since I tinkered with linux, but as and when I learn something, will update.

I followed the instructions from this linked thread, substitute p607t firmware for the p605 in step 1.
Key is to not let it auto reboot after Odin flashes twrp, if you miss that step then you have to reflash it as it will be overwritten.
Once you are in twrp then you flash supersu and boot up.

I was never able to get Knox disabled from supersu and was constantly getting the security check notification(I had frozen parts of it in the past and now it won't thaw no matter what I have tried, FULL wipe and reflash, check w tibu and still frozen... No idea). I used titanium backup to freeze "securitylogagent" and everything has been fine since, including WiFi credentials sticking

Same here. Disabled the log agent.
This is a very simple guide to load the International (NXT-L29) software onto the Chinese version (I have NXT-AL10 with 128GB and it works for me.) Please try at your own risk. If anything goes wrong you can always do the Wifi recovery.
Prerequisites:
Bootloader Unlocked.
Fastboot, ADB, Drivers (I can't do a tutorial for this, please google for how to get these set up.)
Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B79PB4FhWfJAVXpUaGpmS3pyd28/view?usp=sharing
You should get a RAR file with a bunch of IMG files. These are extracted from NXT-L29_C900B133_Firmware_global_Nonspecific_Android6.0_EMUI4.0_05013HRE
Boot the phone into fastboot mode, using ADB or holding power+volume down.
Run the following fastboot commands:
fastboot flash cache (PATH-TO)cache.img
fastboot flash cust (PATH-TO)cust.img
fastboot flash system (PATH-TO)system.img
fastboot flash userdata (PATH-TO)userdata.img
If everything went well, everything will work when you boot it up.
It cost me $20 to download the firmware from an unscrupulous Iranian site, but I pass along the gains to everyone at no charge
Differences from the Chinese version:
1. Google apps and services.
2. Voice wakeup is no longer very powerful. If you speak Chinese, you can ask the Chinese version of HiVoice the weather, play music, etc. The International (English) version only lets you make calls and find your phone, so it's less useful.
3. Missing various Chinese apps.
For me, in a lot of ways the Chinese version is better. It makes me want to learn Chinese so I can have some hands-free assistant compatibility But things like Google Now on Tap are working in the International version, so it's useful in its own ways as well.
UPDATE: Wifi restore might not necessarily work to revert to Chinese firmware. So please be very careful. I was able to revert by using flashboot to put back the Chinese firmware, then using the wifi restore once my device was recognized as NXT-AL10 again.

It makes me want to learn Chinese so I can have some hands-free assistant compatibility [emoji14] But things like Google Now on Tap are working in the International version, so it's useful in its own ways as well.

Only if you unlock the phone first, though. For example, when I'm going to sleep and I have the phone nearby, I might ask the weather for the next day, etc. If I theoretically spoke Chinese well enough to do that, I could
I can use the voice assistant to wake the phone, then use "Ok Google" to activate google now, but google now's voice response only works if the phone has no lockscreen set. I have no idea why.
hey duraaraa, so u managed to get to those firmwares after all, congratz! and big big thanks for making it available free of charge, kudos for taking one for the community! much appreciated
so hey, questions: did u notice any difference between the two firmwares concerning the ubiquituous notification issue? and why did u flash right back to the chinese firmware? are u so set on learning chinese? haha

Ah okay, didn't know about the lockscreen issue with google now.
Maybe a 3 party lockscreen app can solve the problem.
THANK YOU!
Upgrade to my AL10/64GB works, i´ll give it a try because the original FW still got issues with push/google gcm apps, even with root...

It will not fix push messages. The push messages issue can be fixed with Doze settings or by disabling Phone Manager. But please note, you can't fix the push messages by installing this. I tried and failed

The reason is the Chinese firmware has more unique Huawei features. Feels like (although Google stuff got added) more got taken out than was added, and I can add the Google stuff myself, to the Chinese ROM.
The permission manager also became Google's version (I somewhat preferred Huawei's version), and there just didn't seem to be any reason to stay on the international firmware. The only thing I could think of is if I could somehow use international modem to enable Band 28 for Japan where I am currently, but since Band 1 and 3 are covered, I'm generally okay in that regard too.
As for learning Chinese to use the HiVoice assistant, I think it would be very fun to learn enough to communicate with my phone
To be clear, notification issues are exactly the same on Chinese and on International ROMS. Please don't get your hopes up You can fix them with Doze settings editor, though, on either.

... yup ... damn!
I noticed that the file manager is missing on the internal rom. The yellow Pages App was removed and unlinked to the "call" app, so you won´t get any chinese numbers as recommendation if you start dail a number.

*** ROOT ***
i tried rooting the Mate8 with International (NXT-L29) Rom successfully. After setting up the device with the files from International rom, i sent it to twrp with the Mate8 root tool. On exit custom recovery, you may choose to install superSU script. After reboot into normal mode, superSU script appears on the screen and can be used to auto-Install SuperSU (again via twrp, but automatic mode).

@duraaraa Can you post Contacts.apk of international rom, I hate some chinese yellow page
@duraaraa Thanks for your efforts! I do not own a Mate 8. Still deciding between Mate 8, Blue XL pure and the new Letv Le Max Pro (which isn't out yet).
I also admire your willingness to learn Chinese to take advantage of some of the Mate 8 features! I was wondering, on the international version, is recovery in English?
true, good point, recovery in english would be another argument to switch to the international rom i guess im gonna take my time and check both the original chinese and the international rom, see which one serves my needs best just several days to go now, my mate 8 should be arriving next week

How do you guys do to flash the chinese rom back? The one I dowloaded here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/orig-development/huawei-mate-8-stock-firmware-t3289603 has nothe same "img" format.
Sorry for my ignorance and thanks.

You will need to unpack it. Use this tool:

I would like to note that I have not been able to successfully get notifications working with the screen off (in doze IDLE state) with the international rom, regardless of doze settings. I'm working to figure out the root of the notifications issue. It looks like despite the timer, the phone never goes from IDLE to IDLE_MAINTENANCE in both the latest Chinese version and in the international version I posted in this thread. When I find the answers (I'm currently testing with an older Chinese version I had notifications working on before) I will let everyone know!
EDIT: I made a post about this, so please refer to it. If anyone can help me figure out why these phones (except for one firmware version) don't get out of IDLE when they're supposed to, we can solve this for everyone

You know... the notifications issue is a big problem. I'd almost recommend not buying the phone for that. Otherwise it's a great phone, though.
It's just a really messy situation with the firmware differences
