Today I got an email from [email protected], Yes it is true. One person told me if i want to get unlock code I have to write to this email and then dell will provide with the unlock code. Please see attached correspondences between me and dell.
Just write to "[email protected]" as follows:
please send me my unlock code per the DMCA act.
Service Tag: "Your device's Service tag."
IMEI: "Your device's IMEI."
Just gave it a shot....I'll let you know if it worked. If it works, where do I put in the code?

For information: Just use other carrier SIM card then the device will prompt for unlock code, press unlock and use the code.

Good Luck, for me it works. Maybe this for specific devices (IMEI), however it worth a try.
Are you doing this with American networks? (AT&T).
I'm from the UK, think it will work? Not that I need to unlock it because I'm on o2 anyways, it would be useful.
I tried it and it worked they sent my unlock code. Not sure what its good for. I am currently on att. What should I do unlock it any negative affect if unlocked?

If you insert a non-ATT sim card and switch on your mobile, it will prompt for a code to unlock the mobile. Press unlock and enter the code.

it worked me too. i emailed jun 24 and got it early jun 27. so turn around time was quick considering i email friday afternoon and i got it early monday morning.

Yes, since then it can be used with any carrier that uses a GSM network, i.e. virtually all of them in the world.

This does not work for UK O2 streaks... I got a reply withing 24 hours stating that "your device is not a US device. Contact Dell Mobility for further assistance."
So if anybody has got a solution for UK streaks... please enlighten us...

i just got an email from AH Subsidy Unlock. and its for my streak smile.gif
heres the story. one call to AT&T. explained my situation. no questioned asked. At&t rep took my info (imei, contact, etc) right away to open a request. thats it. less than 2 weeks later, TODAY i got my UNLOCK CODE. woohooooo! and just in time, im going to the philippines tomorrow. i will try the unlock later though cause i dont have an other carrier sim card. will execute later when i go cali and visit my girl (shes t-mobile). will try to make video if im not lazy later. hehe smile.gif soooo happy.

Supposedly I have to wait 90 days from the device activation to get a code. So the fact that I've been an AT&T customer for years has no relevance here.
Not happy. Now I've got to see if I can get a Rebel Sim II shipped to me before I leave on Sunday.
I told the lady I spoke to on the phone that I am a flight attendant (true). And that she can verify this from my account (I have airline discount). and I told her I even have that world thing plan. an extra 5.99 a month so I can use roaming with less charges because my line of job requires plenty of traveling. I explained to her that sometimes I have to carry extra phones just so I can use the simcards I bought at a different place like the philippines.
Can't wait to try it out with my Philippine Globe simcard. I made a slight detour to guam to pick up some friends. Leaving tomorrow to the philippines.
Oh I did make a video. It was tight seeing "t-mobile" appear on that blank space (where at&t use to be) above the words "screen locked". The anticipation was crazy (for me at least lol).

are you sending them receipt from Dell or you got your streak from AT&T?
Got it straight from Dell. I think that's why they need a copy of the receipt. If I had bought my Streak from AT&T they would alerady have a record of the purchase, I think... I'll post the outcome and hopefully a video.

I got it unlocked though the same site. At first they could not find the code in the database but took a few days to get the code from Motorola.

AT&T should give you the unlock code for your phone. IF your account is in good standing with them and such. If they won't, contact Motorola DIRECTLY at 1-800-734-5870 Mon-Fri 7AM-10PM; Sat-Sun 9AM-6PM CST.
I take back everything I said above. It wasen't AT&T that was the problem, it was Motorola. They would not even give the code to AT&T. There the ones being Bull****. If AT&T does not have the code, and they do a case thingy, and then they still don't have it afterwards, it's Motorola's fault for holding out the code. I really dislike their customer service now.

I just had a chat with the live help on mobileincanada.com (a site I have used for unlock codes in the past) and they said for $20 they can unlock the Dell Streak. They claim it's just an unlock code and that it does not need to be running any specific version of the OS in order to do so.
Has anyone else tried this? I'm hesitant after reading here about how it cannot be unlocked.
I got an unlock code from AT&T on 1.6 running on Rogers. Updated to 2.2 and did not have to rekey the unlock.

Already tried them and got the refund. I think they are collecting a dollar an attempt though, through some kind of paypal fee.

Sorry , no my device was AT&T from Dell. I unlocked it by calling AT&T... and it remained unlocked thru the upgrade to 2.2.

If you bought your dell Streak locked to Rogers direct from Dell I have been told that it may not be unlockable. Rogers and every website I have tried has not worked. I am currently returning mine and going to buy an unlocked one.
Has anyone succesfully unlocked a Rogers Dell Streak? Has anyone tried the RebelSim to see if that might work? Please let me know.
I'm not a Rogers Customer, so if doesn't work, I will have to return the streak to Dell (if possible).

Yes the unlock codes are being released now by Rogers. It's not cheap. $50 for the code (plus tax), but you have to be a Rogers customer to qualify to get the code. That's another $10 (plus tax) to buy the sim card. Once you buy the sim call Rogers and they will hook you up for free and give you a $10 credit. Don't know if that credit can be used towards the unlocking amount. My Streak is a Rogers lock Streak bought directly from Dell.ca.
I use the rebelsim and its quite nice, only issue is, the rebelsim is NOT compatible with 2.2 at the moment. The only way to make it work is to get the rebelsim beta update, and in order to do that, you must purchase the firmware loader in addition to the rebelsim which will cost the same as a rogers unlock code. If you get the rebelsim though, you can load it with any firmware to work on almost any phone in the future.

The unlock code is based on your IMEI number so there is not a one to fit all.
There are online services that will generate a unlock code for a price.
I have service with AT&T and their customer service was very willing to give me an unlock code for my phone. But I don't think they are as helpful to non-customers.
And these are the only two choices for an unlock code.
There are some SIM based options out there.
Usually, you can just call them up, give them the "travelling out of the country" spiel, and they'll unlock it for you in a matter of minutes. They don't really care to check whether you're a customer or not. Worth a try anyway!

If you are on At&t just call and ask for the unlock code, did it twice already, just give them the IMEI number of your streak.

I have one T-Mobile version 8G dell venue pro for 3 weeks (from ebay), but need unlock code to use it in other network. I tried to ask code from dell unlock request code group, but they said cannot provide it since it's a retail version. So I placed order from one ebay seller and then another, but both couldn't get code for me. Then I submitted order in unlockallcellular.com, but they said so after 2 days.
Can anyone help me out of this problem? Where can buy an unlock code by searching in direct DB or cauculating method or software method LIKE fastgsm.com(they said they can only cauculate Samsung Focus). Thank you sooooooo much.

yes, I need carrier unlock. I've sent mail to dell. They said it's a retail item, cannot give code.
you might have to call them then... I still havent recieved a response, and meanwhile I already travelled to the UK, so I am phoneless. Cheapest cheap phone here is 20pounds, but Virgin Mobile gave me a free SIM card to try out so I think I will have a friend in the States call them and give em my info so I can get this unlocked promptly. Their mobile support number that you should call would be 1-800-308-3355

im having the exact same problem here. even worse, i figured getting the unlock code would be pretty easy so i swapper out the 8gb card for a 32gb sd card which means the warranty us no good anymore and i cant send it back to the ebayer i bought it from.
i got in touch with dell anyway, same thing, its a retail device to contact tmobile.
but its not possible at the moment because i need to know the phone number of the sim card that came with it to sign up to the tmobile website, and i cant find out the number.
so does anybody have an email address for tmobile i could use it would be a great help?
