Evo 4G, $29.95 at Radio Shack (On Line) - EVO 4G General

I noticed late last night, and still this morning, the Evo4G is now $29.95 on the Radio Shack website for either new Sprint 2-year contracts, or for eligible 2-year renewals.
The only difference is new customers get free shipping, while renewals pay $10.00 for standard FedEx.
Based on what I've seen in the past, it'll probably go back up after the holiday. It dropped to $99.00 at Christmas, and never got down to that again until the 3vo came out.

I just saw that, wow thats a crazy deal. If I didn't already have one I would be on it

The ridiculous part is the Evo Shift is still $99.00.

you can get the EVO 4G for FREE from wirefly.com, that deals been up for at least a week or so.

Thanks for the heads up man. Just got my aunt an EVO for $40.

I just ordered one for my wife. Best deal I could find on the net for a renewal.

Just found that, here in Denver anyway, the price is also good in Radio Shack stores, through July 9 (with a "while supplies last" caveat). If it's true where you are, you can save the shipping fee, and since it's in the print ad, other retailers may match it.

are there any special for non renewal prices? would like to upgrade my wife to an evo but 2 year isn't up yet

Got mine from Best Buy for free also last week.

Did they do away with their rebate program still? I remember around the holidays, folks were price matching radio shack's $99, then doing the $100 rebate too.

If she's over 1 year, but not to the two year yet, call Sprint on this number:
(877)775-4886
Ask for a manual override of her upgrade date. You may need to explain that she was affected by the change in the Sprint Premier plan, but generally this staff has proven quite willing to push forward upgrades for people with over 12 months, and less than 22.
Once they put the new renewal date int he system, you can do your upgrade at Radio Shack, or wherever you like.

Who is still on contract and has pre-ordered?

The reason I'm asking is because I see a lot of people pre-ordering and they say it's $199. I wanted to see if anyone was still on contract or would still be on a contract by the time the Evo comes out. I wanted to see if the people on contract were still getting the phone for $199 from BB or the shack. I know the $199 is for a $150 discount with a 2 year plan and an up-front $100 rebate.
On-contract as in "not eligible for an upgrade?" I know that RadioShack is not taking pre-orders for full retail purchases, and Best Buy is gouging the price to $600 for those not on contract. I'm going to pre-order from Sprint when they start accepting in-store (some places actually already have).

I wonder what would be the price if I tell BB that I'm contract now but I want to renew (restart my 2yr contract). Would they just take $100 off the retail price? Guess I have to go in to BB sometime tomorrow to see how this all works. Maybe I'll try the shack as well.
Can they really inflate the price that high when retail (According to sprint) is suppose to be $450? I guess Sprint will have to take my money then and I'll have to wait 10-14 weeks for a rebate.

The $100 rebate is only for new contracts and people with their 22-month full upgrade. The 12-month (non-premier) upgrade is just $75 off retail.
And yes, Best Buy can gouge all they want to.
Under Contract with TMO
I'm under contract with T-Mobile but with still 5 months left. Going to terminate the contract (only $100). Rather cough up the money than continue to use my G1 for the next five months. I want the Evo NOW.
Same here. I'm upgrading from my hero (which I got in December ) so I think your better seeing the device in a sprint store then buying it full out.
im dropping my plan to the lowest ($20/mo.) on vzw and already preordered from radio shack

Adding another line is considered a new activation therefore you would get the phone for $199.
Where is everyone getting this 600$ quote from. At my BB the guy said he "thinks its like 600" which means that he was going off the rumoured off contract price.I don't see BB raising the price of a phone higher than it's MSRP.

Oh you don't? Go to Best Buy and try to buy a Hero or a Moment off contract and enjoy paying $600 or $630, respectively!
I preordered as a current customer without an upgrade available for my phone number. I just upgraded another line on my account, and will swap hardware after I have the phone in my hand.
could somebody help me figure this out a bit?
i have the HTC Hero, bought and signed with a new 2 year contract in november 2009.
so is there any way i could get the $199 price on the evo? i think you can get the EVO but you have to sign another 2 year contract even though i'm only 6 months in?

No. You are stuck paying the full price. I am a smart one though. I had a Sprint account back in the day, left with good standing. I ran into credit issues and about a year back had to pay a deposit so I just went on my father's plan with my fiancee instead. Well, I just got my Hero in October, 2 yr contract. Called up Sprint. They told me to get the Evo in my name, new account with a new phone number. Then afterward, get my dad and transfer my Hero line into my account. I get the 2 yr new activation price for the Evo, I keep my number and I don't have to pay the ETF. Life is f-ing sweet!

Yes but I don't pay for those lines. The owner's of the lines do. I will now be on my own plan, by myself with no ties to them. This isn't the solution for everyone but I figured maybe if someone is in the same situation it may help them.
Radio Shack would not let me upgrade, because I am not eligible until June 1st for upgrade. I just went over to Best Buy and signed right up.
Also, the rep at Radio Shack was not clear as to whether or not I would get the phone on Launch day or not. The Best Buy mobile manager told me for sure that I would get it then. I wanted to try Radio Shack first, simply because of the $20 of free accessories, but hey, you win some, you lose some.
then again, in the case of the Evo, I think we all win
It's like they timed this specifically for Palm Pre Premier owners... Friggin awesome.

If you go through sprint, you'll probably have to renew your 2 yr contract so that it starts up at June 4th, or whenever you get the EVO. You won't get the $150 upgrade discount, but you'll get the $100 mail-in-rebate though.
I believe this is what you'll go through because this is what I'm thinking will happen for me. I too bought the Hero in Nov. 09. But in the past when renewing a contract, Sprint has always just restarted my contracts when I wanted a new contract.
Do to the retail cost that BB and the shack might, I'm going to go through sprint, but not the sprint store. If you go through the sprint store, you'll have to pay the $36 activation fee. Most of the phones that you buy online through Sprint, don't charge an activation fee, so I'm thinking (hoping) this will be through for the EVO when they start selling them online.
I'm still on contract and pre-ordered with best buy, was quoted $199

Htc evo 4g Uprgrading Options

So this is the deal guys...today i try to go to best buy and radio shack and come to find out that i am not eligible for the evo until September and my wife phone until July next year i wanted to get two evos... so on april 19the sprint called me that they woud take 70 dollars off for each line if i agree to to be another 2 years with them and i was like ok sounds good i told rep that if i was going to have any problem getting the evo when it comes out soooo now i come to find out that i can not get the evo on release date .....sooo what do ytou guys suggest i do ..........oh yeah by the way i have to htc pro 2's
Aget somebody to get a new 2 year agreement and give them my htc pro 2 free and i get the evo
Bbuy it at full retail price ...... which i think im not cause its too epensive
CWait until retail price comes down
D just discontinue service with sprint
B or C are your best bets. If you sell the 2 TP2's you should offset quite a bit of the cost.
D - I don't really understand how this is going to help you get EVO's... It seems to be the exact opposite.
sell your tp2's, cancel your contract, pay the etf and buy the phones on a new contract. You could probably get $200.00-250.00+ each TP2 on ebay. Pay the ~50.00 to cancel your contract, ~150.00 for your wife's.
So:
+ 400.00 TP2 sale
- 200.00 cancellation fees
- 400.00 new EVO 4G phones
- 72.00 activation fees
= $272.00 total to get 2 new Evo's.
Sounds like a good deal to me.

Buy at full price now, come september use your upgrade to get another one and sell it on eBay.
Buy one Evo at full price. ($450)
Sell the TP2 on ebay (around $250)
Net outlay= $200 (same as you would pay to upgrade)
September, upgrade the other line to Evo or the next "latest-greatest"

60 Days I believe.
Yeah I am doing the same for my Hero. I am going to have them replace it for a refurb because A. the battery cover does not stay on and B. there is dust under the screen.
Then I hope to sell my Hero on ebay for ~$230
Pay Full out for the phone $449
So that comes down to ~220
Not bad for getting a super phone basically on an off contract device. Does anyone know if I will get charged for another activation fee if I am activating a new phone on a contract?

Went to SAMS today, Twin cities area. (MN) I had a long chat with the manager of the kiosk. He said today's the last day to pre-order, as SAMS was only getting so many Evo's and the pre-orders are almost up to that number. You had to buy a $50 giftcard, good only at the kiosk. Price will be $199-the $50 you paid on the giftcard. You don't have to do the rebate. You get 20% off any accessories you buy on the day you get your Evo. They'll hold for 48 hrs, then sell it if you don't come in. You can't get your $50 back if you don't want the Evo. SAMS sells a 2 year replacement plan for $125-20% on day you pick up. Covers most stuff, but not loss or water damage. If they replace it, you get a brand new one within 48 hrs. The manager said if you got a phone recently from them, you could switch to the Evo and apply the money you paid to the Evo. Unfortunately, I have a new version of the SERO plan, Simply Everything Data Referral, so he said I can only get my Evo at a Sprint corporate store, or online, of course. (I'm already on the waiting list at my fav Sprint store.) Sucks that I'll have to pay the $299 and wait for a rebate. SAMS actually had a dummy Evo on display. It's pretty big and heavier than my Hero.
I'm still up in the air as to whether/when I'll upgrade. I really like my Hero. Size is great. I've been running a custom ROM since I rooted it a couple of weeks ago. It was based off the leaked 2.1 that Sprint put out last week, but still has root. It does everything the "official" Sprint update does, but the bloatware is gone. I am also running A2SD. There's also work being done by the Hero devs on Froyo, 2.2, here at XDA.

Awsome deal...

Well i was able to get the vibrant for Tmobile for 64.99 with 2 year commitment with $20 unlimited data loyalty plan, No upgrade/ activation fee, and free 3 day shipping and intant rebate. I was offered same deal on all 5 of my lines but will only take it up on one since i want to save the other upgrades for future phone releases. Only bad part is i wont get the vibrant until tuesday .
Im thinking of picking up one at tmobile tomorrow for retail price which is$439 to play with until mine comes in and then just return it, but i dont think tmobile will like that much.

He has 5 lines. Phone companies always treat people based on how much they pay a month. The more you pay on your phone bill the more likely you are to get deals and fee's waived.
Also I see this confusion a LOT. $439 vs $499. It seems the $439 price is only for current customers, or people well into their contract. The $499 is for everyone else.

Ive been with tmo for 8 years and have 5 lines so im sure that helped. Basicly all my lines are out of contract and had previous considered going to ATT for new iphone. Tmobile offered free upgrades on all lines for any phone they had at that time with all fees waived. But they didnt have the vibrant out yet, so they told me to call once it was out to see what deal i could have. I called once it became availabe and they offered to waived all fees, bump up shipping and and additional $100 credit to regular upgrade. They ended up giving me additional $135 because i mentioned my upgrade only said 164.99, which was different from their $199, so they just added $35 to match the price.
Tmobile takes care of their customers! I have no issues being on a commitment with them.

i paid 499.99 also, and i've been with t-mobile for 9 years with 4 phones.
got one offered for $429+taxes (~$460) as my early upgrade price (i bought my mt3g aug last year).
moved on to the retentions folks who brought it down to $249 + taxes, which is only $50 more than a brand new contract, i was sold on that. had them make the note on my account and picked it up in-store locally for the same price! =)
loving the phone so far, big upgrade from the mytouch3g.

Buying Epic without a contract.

Just wondering how many of you bought your Epics off contract and paid full price.
I noticed Sprints website retails the phone for 499.99, RadioShack shows it at 549.99, and BestBuy.com rolls in at a whooping 649.99.
Where'd you buy yours at? Being that I don't have an upgrade available, every dollar will help - so I assume Sprint.com or a Sprint Store is the best bet.
I hate to order one online - something I just can't wait for.
Well I bought mine off contract but didn't pay full price. Scored mine brand-new-in-box on craigslist for $380. ;-)
I sold my Hero back to Sprint for $47 and that pretty much took care of my sales tax on the full price.
Just picked up two on ebay. $380 and $385. Pretty psyched. It will be a sad day when I have to sell my TP2's but I'll cope.
I paid the full $499 + tax at a local Sprint store. No regrets whatsoever. Gave my Evo to the wife and I'm not looking back!

Lol, I bought my Moment on launch day when I was 16. I actually signed the contract. A week before I bought the Epic, I called Sprint and voided the contract. No termination fee at all.
I bought the Epic for $250 + $75 tax at Radio Shack on a new line. Wirefly had the phone for $200 online. I tried to get a price match but they preferred I just return the phone and buy it from Wirefly.
I have 30 days to return the phone and find a good deal so I'm not worried.

Welp - I bought it last night.
Sprint wouldn't let me buy one at all, even at full price, even letting them activate it in store. I was pissed. So I went the Radio Shack, bought it for 50 more and went back to the Sprint store just to show the ass I had one and he could start licking from the base.
