Restart 3G in Galaxy Rom Solved - Acer Iconia A500

M-DJ and the Dev team have do the best job to let us to enjoy galaxy on our Acer device. Now the 3G support is nearly perfect and my only question is the 3g usb dongle pluging. I test the script below in both Picasso and Galaxy rom.
su -
stop ril-daemon
start ril-daemon
When I re-insert the dongle, the picasso can recognized the dongle and connect the network, but in the galaxy not. It is not able to find my dongle.
Is any way to let me reconnect the net without restarting the pad?

[Q] 3G usb dongle on your tablet

has anyone managed toget your 3 usbdongle working with your tf101?
currently, none of these USB 3G dongles work on the Transformer because they need drivers to work, but I guess it will be soon before someone figures out a workaround.
Best thing to do now is to get a MiFi device (D-Link & Huawei) has it. But costs a bomb about S$170 for D-link and $200+ for the Huawei one. FYI, this MiFi device is actually a mobile wireless router where you need your Data Simcard to be inserted into the device and it can be shared with other users (like a normal wireless router).
i hve the mifi device given by starhub.. but i heard that someone managed to get tbe 3g usb dongle to work on the xoom so iwas hopingit would work on the tranzformer
so anyone managed to find the link for the xoom app to make the dongle work

The best place to ask this question would be in the Xoom forums.

Someones taken the work that was done to get Huawei USB dongles working on the Folio 100 and ported it to the Acer A500.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118639
I've tried these changes on my Transformer but I've been unable to get it working though I'm unsure if that's because the Wifi Transformer kernel doesn't contain the necessary bits or if I just haven't worked out what needs to go into the build.prop file.
I'm hoping (if no-one's cracked it before then) that the upcoming release of the 3G Transformer will add more pieces to puzzle.

But on the eepad does it necessarily require to connect to the docking station or is it possible to connect in some way directly to the tablet?
Ciao
The custom port on the bottom of the transformer is (amongst other things) a USB port and people have had success using a Female to Female USB adaptor to plug devices into the USB cable ASUS supply.
Asus are also supposed to be releasing an official adaptor to allow connection of devices without needing to go via the cable.
The problem isn't really connecting the USB modem it's working out what modules and drivers and possibly kernel changes are needed to get the Transformer to recognise the modem.
im hoping someone can get it to work..
It looks like we need specific Kernel Modules for the Transformer to have any luck of getting this to work which will requires skills far beyond mine so I think for the moment we have to hope that one of the Transformer ROM devs decides this is work doing.
I'll happily put up a bounty of $30 for whoever can get 3G modems working properly on the transformer
+1
3G dongle needed
if a dev can do this for us.

[Q] Bluetooth tethering on Acer base roms?

Is there any way to get bluetooth tethering working on Acer based roms?
With Virtuous Galaxy I can tether to my iPhone 4 no problems, but when I use the latest Acer rom I can pair but I always get "Paired but not connected". When I choose the device it shows nothing under profiles. I was really hoping they would have sorted this out in the 3.1 update
Is there a file I can copy from Virtuous Galaxy to make this work?

PDANET in the market. Put on your phone and on your tablet and follow the instructions. Do not seem to work for Verizon phones with Gingerbread at the moment.

[Q] What exactly works from the USB port on the Iconia Tab?

I'm looking to get a tablet to introduce BackTrack 5 to. I don't believe this tablet has a wifi chip capable of injection, so I wanted to connect a USB wifi adapter to it (this one right here). I read in the update it's able to register the usb port for usb devices, but which exactly work without me having to create a driver? And, I'm sure there are linux drivers for said USB adapter, I assume I could take that and (easily) create one?
From what I've read so far, the USB port handles things like hard drives, keyboards and flash card readers (and not necessarily all of them).
A Wi-Fi adapter may function under Linux but you would probably have to be rooted on the device to install drivers since they are not natively included in the system build that I know of.
Backtrack 5 works fine on the A500. I'm running it right now. I've had no issues with it.
i posted a thread in the accessories section on compatible usb devices

I am thinking about putting Backtrack on my Iconia A500. Following up on a previous question by NickkxNekro, would one be able to plug the Alfa wifi device into A500 and make use of it?
im assuming yes since you can use 3g usb dongles

Solved[Q] Full USB Ethernet adapter Support i9505 TW

Who can make my Samsung Galaxy S4 9505 (rooted) work with my ASIX chipset USB ethernet adapter ? I want to use it with USB OTG and with the SAMSUNG Smart Dock, so Touchwiz is required. If it´s working like a Wifi connection and plug and play, I´ll pay 50 € for the first developer who makes it run. Every App should accept this internet connection, including Google play downloads. It worked fine with my Galaxy Nexus out of the box, but the S4 is a step backwards.
I hope someone can do it!

I got a working kernel including needed drivers.
Next step: waiting for edited framework which is spoofing "wifi is turned on".
Maybe that will do the trick...
HackConnectivityService
Capslock66 has the solution: He created a HackConnectivityService.apk for reverse tethering and it works with my ethernet adapter.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371345
With this app nearly all apps accept internet access.
With the app ethernet droid from google play you can use USB ethernet adapter without loading modules, but for me it wasn´t as stable as with my modified kernel.
Script
I´m using this script with the terminal emulator after plugging in my ethernet adapter.
su
cd /
cd system/lib/modules/
insmod cifs.ko
insmod asix.ko
INTERFACE=0
dhcpcd eth$INTERFACE
DNS=`getprop dhcp.eth$INTERFACE.dns1`
echo Setting DNS server \"$DNS\"
setprop net.dns1 $DNS
ifconfig eth0 up
After that I´m starting the Hack Connectivity Service App and activate Wifi hack.
Easy solution
Since Android 4.3 you have to connect to wifi once after booting to make it work!
Root is required.
Plug in your ASIX ethernet adapter.
1. Start Hack connectivity service: WIFI hack (Look above)
2. Start Ethernet Droid app from Google play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrm.trueonline.ethernet), press connect button.
That´s all!
ENJOY!
This has become a really useful thread. Good job nutting out a solution OP (thread 5 starred/your most recent post thanked)
Would the same solution work for the S4 zoom also?
Great solution
I found this and it works great on Galaxy S4 4.4 Shostock!!!
