Downgrading and rooting. - Legend General

Hello everyone
I have purchased a HTC Legend running android 2.2 and wish to downgrade so that I can root and install cyanogenmod on it.
I have used hours trying to install the downgraded RUU but when i get to the point where i have to run crackin.bat from hack4legendv5 the CMD says that I do not have SU permission (when typing adb shell and then su). Nothing pops up on the phone so that i can give superuser rights.
This means that the "crwxww" or something does not come up in the end and when trying to run the 1.31 RUU I receive an error. Have tried to run temproot on visionary without any luck:-(
I am on a machine running win 7 64 bit and the phone is unbranded.
Maybe you can help ?
(I'm Danish so excuse me if my english is bad)

Did you tray this method?it worked for me.

need some serious help
thank you in advance..
have you made the goldcard correctly, are you using an ruu to downgrade, are your adb drivers for 2.1 installed correcly, what opperating system, x64 or x86?
Please go to the sticky in the development forum, and try that guide.
It works on ota or ruu 2.1, so that should get you sorted out.

Root problems... Bleh

So I used this guide: http://jonsuh.com/2010/11/root-your-droid-incredible-how-to/
And no go. Help??
I have an SLCD phone since i just got mine a few weeks ago. I run Unrevoked 3.22 and Change the recovery to the custom one provided by the guide. Then plug in my phone and run it.
It gets to the point where its restarting into recovery but as soon as the phone hits HTC INCREDIBLE boot screen it says a communications error with the phone has occurred please try again.
I WAS excited to see how root was on the Inc. but nvm I guess lol
Unless someone can tell me what to do???
I ran Unrevoked on my 64 bit Windows 7 PC if that changes anything
Did you install the Hboot drivers? I got the same error til I installed Hboot. lol I was sleepy and excited bout rooting that i forgot to do that.lol
If you are running Windows, you must uninstall HTC Sync if you have it installed and install HBOOT drivers at http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:windows_hboot_driver_install.
I uninstalled HTC Sync and have HBOOT drivers set up already. still have that problem
Hmmm I pushed the drivers to HBOOT again and it worked.... Weird. I had them installed before tho, windows said that I had the same software already so Idk whats going on

Help please

Hi,
I downgraded my htc desire hd and attempted to root through visionary+ tool…i did the following
Downgraded to official firmware PD98IMG.zip
All was working fine
I installed visionary+ and temp rooted
i then attempted to perm rooted, my phone restarted and then got stuck at the htc logo screen….
I have tried reflasing the official firmware but it keeps getting stuck on the htc logo screen. Any help? Thanks
Can you boot directly to the bootloader? Vol down + Power.
Yep i can get there, however when i click recovery from there it goes straight to the htc logo screen..and if i place the rom on the sd card it flashes the phone but when it reboots it gets stuck once again
In that case download the 1.32.~ RUU.exe and run that.
Hi, I am new to rooting and have only got as far as downgrading my firmware...what do you mean by download the 1.32 ruu.exe? Sorry
If you click the link in my sig and head to RUU's, you'll find 1.32.405.6 download that and run the exe. It will reflash your phone for you, just follow the prompts.
What state does my phone need to be in before running the exe? Also currently my laptop running windows 7 does not recognise my phone, i have htc sync 3.0 installed but it still doesnt recognise it....
Switched on is enough for the exe. You need to have the correct drivers for it to work.
Is your windows 7 machine 64bit?
No i am not using windows 7 64bit...i was able to connect to my desire hd via htc sync before all these issues however
Ok, I'm running out of idea's. I don't think the .exe will work until you handset is on.
Do you have the Android SDK installed on your machine?
Hi yes i have it installed...i think it is looking for android 1.0 driver but it cant find it and i cant find it on there internet...
Mine also does that whilst in the bootloader, once I'm in fastboot I'm ok.
Do you still have ENG S-OFF?
I got it to connect....i am now running the ruu....will update when it is done. Thank you so much for your help so far...
I just ran the ruu...i think it is stuck at the htc logo screen once again..its been there for about 10mins???
That's not good. I'm guessing that the PD98IMG.zip nuked your S-OFF?
Accoring to the bootloader menu it says s-on...
Ok, not sure how to progress here. Your DHD has a fault somewhere, as the PD98IMG.zip should work without any problems. Kinda like a fail-safe.
Other than contacting your network/HTC for a repair which should happen (S-ON etc...) you could try the latest Gingerbread RUU. You just have to extract the ROM.zip first (that's very easy).
Just to make sure...
i downloaded the ruu from you sig...
connected my desire hd
ran the ruu
it finished and my phone was flashed
is that right?
Is the latst gingerbread ruu for the desire hd on your site?
Yeah its on there. I'd recommend getting a repair over flashing it though.
I don't meet your problem, but I just did it yesterday with a golden card, so if you don't know what to do maybe you can try that.

[Project] Installing and running ROM Manager via a temp root shell

Okay, so I want to rebrand my Orange DHD for warranty purposes and I happen to know somebody who's got one with an Orange 2.2.1 ROM on it.
Anyway, using the GingerBreak method I could get into a root shell on the device (temp, of course). Now what I need to do from there is install ROM Manager so that I can reboot into recovery and create a backup of the Orange ROM, which I could then use on my own DHD.
But what are the install commands? I mean is it just "install package.apk", and then I'd have to run ROM Manager via the shell as well...
If it's possible though this would help a *LOT* of people; an Orange ROM hasn't been leaked yet and loads are asking for it.

Only Working tool is the Advanced Ace Hack Kit, not longer supported here. DO NOT TRY ANYTHING ELSE!!
Find it here and follow instructions: http://tau.shadowchild.nl/attn1

It does work. I have an inspire and had to select unlisted device. However a boot loader unlock != root.
thanks for your rply bro
I downloaded RUU, as instructed at htcdev.com
but that always gives an error 102, battery is less then 30%
though my battery is fully charges
unable to unlock my bootloader
You need to downgrade your device.
When you download AAHK, there is a manual inside it (the 'effin manual). Read it without skipping anything.
Inside the manual you can find instructions on downgrading your device. You need to do so before you can root on 2.3.5
If you are having problems booting your phone now, go back to stock ROM by doing the following:
Go into HBoot, then into fastboot.
Connect your DHD to your PC via USB.
Wait for the PC to recognize it.
Download this RUU: http://www.filefactory.com/file/cf9...60.29_26.14.04.28_M_release_225512_signed.exe
Run it as administrator and follow instructions
hi can you complete this step?
when my htc desire got into soft brick while I was trying to root, attn1 gave me this very same instruction so I got my phone running again on stock
I want to learn this in case my phone got stuck again at the HTC logo (after flashing the radio)
1. go to HBOOT
2. go to fast boot
3. plug device into computer and make sure it read FASTBOOT USB
then he told me something to run cmd prompt as admin and
adb something something, then asked the directory was where I put my PD98IMG (which was on my desktop)
sorry I can no longer remember so I am asking for your help.
can you complete the steps above so I can try rooting again. I know that If I get stuck I can push the stock rom again
I really want to root my device.
Maybe try what is written in this post: h t t p://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396253 (Sorry, cant post links properly yet.)
This has all of the instructions for being stuck at the hboot screen.
