Best/Most Efficient ROM Xperia - XPERIA X10 General

I have an Xperia X10 that I rooted a while back, and flashed the 2.1 ROM update on it. I've since installed a bunch of stuff, and it's running rather glitchily.
I"m trying to decide if I"m best off unrooting and restoring it to Sony's software update, or if there might be a more efficient ROM. I am going to keep it light-weight this time, I'm not looking for customization, just speed and battery life. Any thoughts?

Ericks Rom is great on battery life and extremely fast

I'm using Cobrato's MIUI dual boot with EWjet rom & both on zKernel
lovin' it...

Since how good a rom is depends on what the user wants from it then its up to the op to decide what best

What is the best ROM for SGS

Hey ,
guys what is the best ROM rigth now for SGS ( ROM + kernel )?
im looking for good battey and the fastest that can be xD
i dont care about the design
what u guys think?
the ROMs i have been told that good are
Simply Honey
CM7
what u guys think about this 2 ROMs ?
I think the best one is the stock JVP, with a fugumod kernel. Install a deodexed so you can install mods, like gtalk with video, a Gingerbread theme and you're good to go!

i dont like the stock ROM
but what if i will flash that kernel with simply honey rom?
its may work or its will make a problems?
Try juwe you won't regret
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
juwe's with semaphore kernel
(ROM) GingerCriskelo V7x
[KERNEL] DarckCore 2.7.3
2gether are flyin'
I'm using the Simply Honey since 3.5 but the last one 3.6.1 is very nice and stable.
@Elia: just try some ROMs and you'll find your favourite one.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Go for what's in my signature.. And i've tried lots of gingerbread.
juwe rom + dark core kernel for me. fast n nice theme
Tweaky's ROM, DarkCore kernel, Gingerbread launcher from Market. Best combination for me. Fast, stable and nice looking (stock glass screen, stock Gingerbread theme, 3D app drawer).
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S running Tweaky's ROM with XXJVP Gengerbread
The best rom that i've just found for my SGS after 2 months is:
Rom: RomKitchen jvp (all the basic stuff, you don't need all the crappy things for Samsung) with Modem JVP
Kernel: Semaphore_kernel_JVP_1.2.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112908).
New drivers, compatible with Tegra: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1087427).
I removed for caution software update process.
I OC'ed my phone to 1200 mhz and works very well. Only one freeze in 5 days.
The Quadrant score is ~ 2200 - 2750. (i know it's irrelevant but i had to mention about this)
The phone is really fast - i can compare with CM7.
The battery life is very very good.
Take a try and tell me if you like it.

agreed dont know how everyone can say get gingerbread when it has bugs that are not in 2.2.1..
there is a battery drain bug .. may be fixed in 2.3.4 not sue
there is a non working vpn bug over 3g
there is a non working adhoc wifi supplicant
bug
non of these bugs are in 2.2.1
also my favorite kernel for 2.1.1 is speedmod.. i gut almost 3 days of battery.

Don't forget that while CM7 is a fully independent ROM, and MIUI is based on CM, all the others are based on stock.
So by taking a clean deodexed stock and patching it, you can get exactly what you want - but not the crappy themes and buggy mods we often find in stock - based ROMS.
Actually the best ROM is probably the one yoi generate from the kitchen, but I don't know if JVP is available yet.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I've tried various gingerbread stock roms and found JPJV6 the fastest and energy saver

Goatrip 2.0 for me, best ROM by far & I've been through a few
there is no one "BEST ROM" the question is what you looking for.
some have more battery time and some look better than the others.
so like isaid, the question is what you need and want
JVP with Tegrak under ONEnand Mode I suppose.

there are no such best ROM, but features u wanna have on custom ROMs. U need to know what is ur preference then choose ur own custom ROM.
Speed? definately CM7 but its still on beta.
Speed and features? Juwe's but a bit dull on the black and white.
SGS 2 apps? Tweaky ROM
Kernel? I suggest Talon 1200. Still on dev but still gives best performance and battery saving.
had darky, cyanogen, and now i'm trying Ryyu's EDB
i want the latest rom... like you not stock

Recommend a new rom for me!

All that matters to me is speed, stability and battery life.
I have been running Darkys 9.2 for a long time now, but the battery life is getting to be very poor, so looking to try out something new.
Appart from the battery life if has been rock solid to date.
Any advice is welcome

In my opinion, there isn't a perfect rom in this world which matches your description. However, if I were to choose one, I would choose Cyanogenmod 7. It is currently on Nightly, but it is stable enough for daily usage. Battery life is not that good, but its speed complements it, combined with loads of customisations available.
I hope that helps, mate

Thanks guys will give s.u.r.f.a.c.e a shot!
Just out of interest, does it have a lagfix like Darkys rom?
Cyanogen's battery issues are keeping me away from it for now.

no battery drain and smooth with galaxianEE2.4 kernel
GingerReal 7.1.4 , Semaphore 1.3.3. kernel, works briliant-e.

Stock is the best...
In the past weeks i tested several roms and kernels.
Roms: GingerReal 7.1.4, Surface 2.1, Juwe 5.2, CM7, Darky 10.2
Kernel: Speedmod, Galaxian, Semaphore
For me the best pair is Darkys Rom with the semaphore kernel on EXT4.
I never had such a smooth, speedy and long battery usage on any rom/kernel.

whats the best unbranded Galaxy S2 Stock Rom

I really like the stock Rom
Not quite ready to flash a new one yet (unless a good MIUI shows up)
I think the stock rom is very smooth and only really needs root to be a good everyday workable rom, until something outstanding shows up.
I currently have stock branded orange rom (rooted) witha most of the orange and samsung apps frozen with titanium backup.
I am looking for a totally (or near as dammit) stock Rom but without all the branding form orange, and unnecessary apps running in the background so i can get better battery life.
Any ideas on the best one for my purpose.

I'm using the leaked stock XXKG3 together with the Ninphetamine v2.02 Kernel and all is well.

Now, can I install any of the stock (original) SGS2 ROMs or should I find the same one I had in my phone before I flashed custom ROM??
Thanks

I owned the SGS1 when it came out and it desperately needed fixes and alternative ROMs, now with the SGS2 I am a bit surprised because I ended up to the same conclusion as you. I feel no need for custom ROMs. The stock ain't so bad, TouchWiz is decent, it runs stable enough, really have no issues.
So I'm also looking for a clean Samsung stock ROM to get rid of all of my operator junk (useless apps taking resources, startup/shutdown logos, etc). Plus it's bad to have to wait more when a new version comes out as operators take ages to customize them (still on KE6/KEB)
I think I will wait until the first official "clean" Samsung 2.3.4 comes out tho... right now it is pretty good, except for the usual battery problem (that IMHO can only be really fixed with a fat 3000 mAh battery or so)
Well for now AOKP roms are the way to go I think any way, roms like RootBOX and Resurrection Remix along with either Fluxxi, CM9 or Siyah kernel
Should check them out

[Q] FreeX10 2.3

Hi, Okay so I have running Free X10 2.2.1 with baseband 2.1.54
I want to try a 2.3 ROM and I've been looking at the Free X10 2.3
however the requirements here:
Requirements:
1. Rooted 2.3.3 ROM
2. working xRecovery 0.3
3. Baseband 71+
I need to have a rooted 2.3.3 ROM before I installed the Free X10 2.3.3?
How do I upgrade my baseband?
Is there any efficient way to back up and restore your apps between flashing?
Yes. Just use flashtool to upgrade. Then root then install recovery. It if your on 2.2 just connect it to pc companion. And also u already posted a thread like this. Dont double post
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Okay sorry. Im just new at flashing and using custom ROMs. I just have a few questions to get started. My phone is rooted and I have already flashed from eclair to froyo free x10. I would have posted in that same previous post but it said thread closed.

I would not suggest to move to FreeX10 2.3.3 as it's development was stopped, it will not be improved and has many bugs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208145&page=17
But if you still want to try it, just make sure you flash the baseband after you installed the ROM with xRecovery.
try the new cm7 instead...

Can someone post a link for Z's CM7? I wanna try it out.
also, how I do upgrade my baseband before doing this upgrade. I'm currently on Z's Free X10 2.2.1

I bet he thinks development stopped = bugs hell.
And the new CM7 is a lot more buggy than you think. Wifi not working, battery drainage(just me?), etc.
Just get FreeX10 2.3. You don't need to be on 2.3. Just flash the ROM via xRec, pull out the battery, put it in back and flash the new baseband and kernel.
But you said you like living at the bleeding edge, so you can give the new CM7ZMOD a try.

Well actually I think CM7 is not that buggy either, Wifi will be fixed by Z soon I bet, hell it's already fixed by a member by replacing a file from another rom, as for your battery drainage, it's ok here, not as good as FreeX10 but ok, maybe do some battery calibration & stuff? also gps is on by default so turn it off
But overall I prefer FreeX10 2.3 too, CM7 is faster (it's the fastest gb I've tried) even the first time you boot up the rom, the speed & the way bootanimation loads is just amazing, But Freex10 is rock solid stable with great battery life & very fast too
His CM7 ZMOD is probably better than FreeX10 2.3.3.
As for WiFi in CM7, here's the fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16602945&postcount=265

Take stock ROM, root it, de-bloat it (uninstall all the system apps you don't use), set up SuperCharger and you're good to go.
Don't be fooled, only CM7 is a real custom ROM.
All the rest fall into the category I described: rooted, bebloated stock ROMs.
Oh! And if you need extra speed and you're willing to sacrifice a few hours of battery life, unlock bootloader and flash a custom kernel.
That should do it.

Agreed. No point messing around with custom ROMs when the stock ROM only needs cleaned up a bit. Don't see the benefit in Supercharger if you have already uninstalled all the crapware as there's nothing running on the CPU to consume the battery power
I have had the LT18i since it came out and it's lightning fast and the battery life is great. Nuff said

Yes I did the same. But still Arconium is a lot faster and lag-free compared to cleaned stock with supercharger and the same overclocking. Really it's the best and fastest rom together with CM (if you like that) and I tried a lot. The only downside is you will get worse battery performance in stand-by (twice as worse; up to 3%/h)when you install a custom overclock kernel even at the same clock speeds. So first try with stock kernel and of you need more speed (like 1.4GHz) go to custom kernels.
IMO Complete custom ROM is MIUI as if now with less bugs. CM has few bugs that has to be fixed. As stated above other are just modified version of stock.

arconium + doomkernel is the best of all !
