I have a Bell Desire Z I got from a friend, its stuck at the HTC screen but lets me into the bootloader. I extracted the Rom.zip from the latest Bell ruu I could find, it looks like its flashing okay but nothing changes, it still won't boot. I tried flashing a tmobile image but I get an error saying "model id incorrect" here's what I'm looking at:

Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've tried searching the forums and nothing I've tried works.
Have you tried the factory reset option in HBOOT?
Yeah, it didn't make any change, it just sits at that white HTC screen forever..

Well I followed the 1.2 tutorial and successfully flashed the image file all the way up to the recovery and radio stuff. Now the phone will not boot it freezes at the htc magic boot screen and also I don't have root access. Also I can get into fastboot but the usb is not working now so I an kinda stuck. Any help would be appreciated.

I just had this problem, I re-installed the RUU via usb while the phone was on and that let me try again.
edit - that might not make any sense actually, since I followed a different guide and having just read through the one you are following. I am not 100% but I'm pretty sure if you did it that it would work though.
How do you know you don't have root? Can you get into recovery (home+power). You may need to hold it down for a while to get it going.

I held it down for a good few minutes and I noticed the phone does not boot at all it just sits at the HTC boot logo forever, allthough it doesnt flash vibrate or do any weird stuff just hangs.
Nm I was able to re-flash sappimg and the phone is now fully functional Also the cyanogen rom I downloaded from the tutorial was corrupt just fyi for those having problems.
my evo is rooted with the auto root unrevoked, i could not find a rom i liked so i wanted something similar to the stock ruu just not locked down. so i downloaded RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.1_Radio_1.39.00.04.26_release_171253
and i get: ERROR [110]: FILE OPEN ERROR
This error message indicates that the RUU lacks some specific files or they are damaged, so the RUU cannot continue with the update. You have to get the complete RUU package and try again.
and my phone goes to a black screen with HTC in the middle and 4 triangles with "!" in them in each corner when i unplug it from the usb my screen says
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF

THEN "RUU" IS HIGHLIGHTED IN ORANGE
what did i do? what did i not do? what do i do?
all the help will be apreciated....thanks
it locked itself in ruu mode. You will need to find a good ruu to use, it sounds like that one was too old.

yeah try getting a recent RUU. The version and radio on that makes it look like it's probably an oooold Eclair rom instead of Froyo.
I think i have semi bricked my magic (vodafone) after trying to apply a sappimg.nbh without checking if it was the right for my phone...
Now i cant access the phone,it gets stuck at the vodafone screen, but i can access fastboot mode and hboot.
It says :

I tried to add a recovery img via fastboot but i get error at cmd fastboot(remote:not allow) so i guess i unrooted it...
What are my options so i could fix my phone?
Thanks in advance.
Radio SPL mismatch but should be easy to fix. Need to get your version number.

Thanks for your quick reply
i used the getvar and it says : version-main: 2.16.151.3
One more that I forgot.
Fastboot getvar Cid (I think that's right, coming from the top of my head).

it says <waiting for device> and nothing happens...
Make a goldcard and download this:
https://rapidshare.com/files/436753940/2.53.707.2_-_sappimg.zip
Rename it to sappimg.zip(not sappimg.zip.zip).
Flash it using hboot mode.
That image will give you eng spl, from there we can bring your phone back to live.
Is there a way to create a goldcard without the use of a phone?i can't use adb..but i've read somewhere that it can be done with a linux live cd
Do the goldcard using ANY android device...
I don't own an other android device.A friend of mine has one but it is unrooted and new,is there any chance it will cause any damage on the phone?By the way,i think there is an app on the market called goldcard helper,is it easier to get the CID that way?

Yes to the app, no to the goldcard causing damage. It doesn't mod anything on the phone.

okay i have ordered a 2gb sd card so i can make it a goldcard..i'll probably post in one or two days to tell you my progress
Got the goldcard working, now it says in hboot/fastboot mode:

HBOOT-1.33.2010(SAPP10000)

So now there is an eng spl on it so it should be easy from now on...what's next?
Edit :the phone is now functional, with android 1.5
OK i've seen a million of these threads and i just want to confirm that i've bricked the htc magic my brother JUST gave me. It was running cm6 froyo redux and i wanted to get ginger yoshi on there. To do that i had to change the radio. I flashed the radio and then restarted as instructed. But then the phone went into boot loop. I can't boot into recovery and i'm not entirely sure how to access the bootloader. It is S-OFF if that gives me any hope at all.
Thanks for any help
If you have s off you could try mumilovers fastboot commander....I say this method as i found it so easy, just make sure u know what phone u have before doing anymore
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App
Yeah. Fastboot commander is great tool.
Btw, three modes:
Back + Power (fastboot)
Home + Power (recovery)
Volumedown + Power (hboot)
If phone does not load into any mode => brick
Sent from my A7-040 using Tapatalk
thanks guys. Will try today and get back to you
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
no luck getting into any of those modes. still getting boot loop.
almost had a glimpse of hope. Turned phone on and it didn't go into a boot loop. However, i foolishly turned it off to access fastboot. Will try again later and see.
You must turn phone off before load into any mode. Remove battery and place it back when bootlooping
Similar Problem!
Hey guys! I got a similar problem. I tried to get Ginger Yoshi 1.5 on my phone but had to change the radio and spl. I managed to change them both to 3.22 radio and 1.33.2010 spl but it changed from 32A to 32B. When I saw that I thought something must had gone wrong. I tried changing it back but what I did was a mistake, I think I flashed the stock spl wich I think it was 1.33.0013. I am now going crazy because my phone wont boot or go into recovery mode, all I get is fastboot mode but when I try to flash a new spl or radio I get "FAILED (remote: not allowed)" . Now I'm stuck with that problem and don't know what to do. Any help? (I posted here because all other threads seem to be from 2010, they're old and nobody answers them, and because it is a similar problem).
Thanks!

Is my phone fried? When I turn it on it's stuck at the MT4G splash screen. I boot into the bootloader with PD15IMG.zip in the root and attempt to update, but it just stops at updating the bootloader. It just stays on the updating screen saying it's updating the bootloader. Tried both stock gingerbread zip files with the same problem.
When I select Recovery, it shows the MT4G screen, then the green arrows and picture of the phone, then it shuts the screen off and vibrates 7 times. I have to remove the battery to reboot.
If I select Factory Reset, the phone just freezes in the bootloader.
Here's my bootloader copy:

I'm posting this because I didn't see anyone with the exact same issue and I didn't want to give up on it just yet. Any ideas or suggestions?
7 vibrations mean HW failure. Your phone is screwed.

I have received an MT4G with the same issue, actually this is the second one I receive with the same issue. (FYI: I work at a cellular phone repair store). I have searched far and wide... but now one with a concrete answer as to what to do with this situation. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
