hey there.
does anyone know if there is any setting, application or way to permantly deactivate the black screen.
it would help me a lot because the "turn power on/off" button is broken, so if the screen of htc goes black, then i have to wait until somebody calls me in order to use my phone again.
thanks a lot in advance!
a simple way is to lift the stylus - than the screen will be working...

I have recently taken delivery of an Otterbox for use on my bike (GPSComputerCycle and music) but to save power I would like to be able to turn the screen off during the ride (xpshutdown allows me to do this) and then press the screen if I want to turn the HD back on again.
I use S2U2 if this makes an difference.
Is there a setting somewhere which allows me to press the screen to power the THD back on again (even if it goes to a lock-screen)?
I had a quick look through the settings (Screen/Power/Lock) but couldn't find anything.
Anyone help?
Thanks
Not possible AFAIK.
When the screen powers down, that applies to the touch-sensitive mechanism as well as the display element.
It would probably require something deeper than even a registry hack, the drivers would need re-writing or something.
Its not possible for the simple reason that the buttons below the screen are part and parcel of the touch screen, so if the screen is off, they won't work.
There appears to be no power to these lower buttons while in standby, so no software could work either?
However there is other ways of doing this:
1. Use s2u2 unlock on stylus out, so when you pull out the stylus, the HD comes on and unlocks. It's simple.
2. MobileMagic to toggle the screen on/off when device is turned face down. That way when you turn it face down, screen goes off and buttons are locked. To turn it back on, turn devicedevice face down again. You will need need to go to Start-Settings-System-Power-Advanced and untick the option, "Turn off device if not used for", because if the device gets turned off (instead of just screen off) it won't respond.
Hope this helps
Unfortunately the HD will be inside an Otterbox mounted on the handlebars of my bike, so removing the stylus would not be an option and neither would using the G-Sensor.
Sounds like I will have to have it powered on all the time. I know that GPSCycleComputer dims the display while it is active, so this might be a part solution.
Thanks for all the answers though. I was being a numpty after all!

Alternative solution:
Attach a dynamo to the wheels of your bicycle and charge your HD on the go
I wouldn't be able to even begin telling you how to do this though!
Hi,
I had a problem with my Jade where the LCD screen blackout while making a call out, and i need to turn the screen on again pressing the power button.
Can anyone advise me?
Thank you in advance for your advise.
Vincent
No problem, is a normal function
Yup, that's normal behavior. There is a sensor which senses when you have the phone touching your face. It then turns the screen off. You wouldn't want it to activate all kinds of options while rubbing your face.
Thanks a lot! but Garmin problem now..
Hi ralfbonne, Arunia,
Thanks alot for your advise.
I have another problem which is the Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.10W.
Is a cracked version, after i installed S2U2 v1.60, the below error message pops up while half way using the Garmin GPS:
"Read access violation at data address 0xF9C3D650. Program address 0x0016FAF4 in background thread NULL (GfxFieldWindowProc)".
Is this caused by the settings for S2U2?
Besides, sometimes it took too long time to get the satellites signals, can be up to 20mins long!
Could you please kindly advise me too?
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day.
Vincent
How to keep screen on in call (no blackout): solution
All registry hacks & Advanced Config tricks for keeping the screen on while a call is in progress do not apply to the Jade/3G.
However, there is a solution to overcome this annoying feature:
install Touch InCall Screen Tweak, and set the options "Ignore first screen off" and "Always On" in the options.
Why keep the screen on during call? Your face will just start activating things at random. If you really need it on (maybe using earpiece) you can always press the power button.
It's annoying
I have never accidently pressed anything on the screen while calling.
However, having to press the power button to bring the screen back while calling voicemail has annoyed me many times.
I also believe it is annoying that the screen blacks out. Even when I have the phone facing down and not to my ear, the screen blacks
I need to get it on, so I could use speakerphone. I'm one of those that love using speakerphone, so yea
I will try the InCall cab file.
Hi there,
How can i get the lock screen by just pressing the power button? For example, I'm using the mobile and then i press the power button to turn off the light of the screen, and then when i press the power button again to turn it on, the lock screen appears, like iphone. I couldn't find it on the windows configuration.
Thanks
There is alot of applications which can do this, but most of it has serious bugs and issues.
Hope that someone is able to firm this issue out ASAP.
But, for now, no solution is available.
The lock screen that i'm talking about is the one of the Windows Mobile 6.5 not the ones that we get from programs of internet. The new lock screen of wmb 6.5
the lookscreen is activated by end key, may be you can remap it to the power key, but then how are you go to turn off the device?
Hi, Im using the Smartlock (v1.7c) and it works fine form me. Just use the suspend lock option (I only use that one). Then every time u turn the screen on it will be locked with the wm6.5 lock screen.

WOW
That's the one, thanks!!
Does anyone have a small example how this has been developed? I guess with a notification and a keypress?
Much appriciated
On the Blackstone, when calling, the phone keypad screen is disappearing relatively quickly replaced by black screen once you get connected and if you need to dial later some additional codes on the keypad you have to activate the screen pushing the upper on off button....
How is it possible to play with this delay in view to keep the phone keypad visible much longer ?
Thx for any clues

if you are using the phone the proximity sensor will turn off the screen once it touches your face to prevent screen buttons from being pressed.
for some reason I turn turn off the Phone Connection (pretty much like airplane mode) while in the phone and it happens a lot, and it bothers, so I was wondering how to lock it to bypass this issue
You gotta make sure that you are on the dialer when you put it upto your face, anywhere else and the proximity sensor won't do anything. I have a terrible habit of hitting home, then opening a dozen programs while talking to someone cause my screens hittin my ear. Just make sure that you are on the call screen before moving it to your head and it should do the rest.
sounds good nuff, i'll try to keep that in habit, so used to android devices with a lock button lol, thanks guys
I just hit the notification bar an then hit lock at the bottom of the screen while talking on the phone, now I use Inesoft phone.
