Screen going black when calling - Touch HD General

On the Blackstone, when calling, the phone keypad screen is disappearing relatively quickly replaced by black screen once you get connected and if you need to dial later some additional codes on the keypad you have to activate the screen pushing the upper on off button....
How is it possible to play with this delay in view to keep the phone keypad visible much longer ?
Thx for any clues

Did you try messing around the the advanced Config software cause if memory serves me right it's actually a feature which you can disable....
Hope it helps

you could try these any of these two options below, if you want...
1.. HD TWEAK appl. and config....
option 1 and set option 1.1 and 1.2 accordingly...

2 TOUCH IN CALL SCREEN TWEAK.appl..( according to me, better option ).which allows your screen to turn on ,if you lower phone from ear position ,and turn off screen if you bring phone up to ear postion(saves battery power)

LCD screen blackout while making a call out

Hi,
I had a problem with my Jade where the LCD screen blackout while making a call out, and i need to turn the screen on again pressing the power button.
Can anyone advise me?
Thank you in advance for your advise.
Vincent
No problem, is a normal function
Yup, that's normal behavior. There is a sensor which senses when you have the phone touching your face. It then turns the screen off. You wouldn't want it to activate all kinds of options while rubbing your face.
Thanks a lot! but Garmin problem now..
Hi ralfbonne, Arunia,
Thanks alot for your advise.
I have another problem which is the Garmin Mobile XT 5.00.10W.
Is a cracked version, after i installed S2U2 v1.60, the below error message pops up while half way using the Garmin GPS:
"Read access violation at data address 0xF9C3D650. Program address 0x0016FAF4 in background thread NULL (GfxFieldWindowProc)".
Is this caused by the settings for S2U2?
Besides, sometimes it took too long time to get the satellites signals, can be up to 20mins long!
Could you please kindly advise me too?
Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day.

How to keep screen on in call (no blackout): solution
All registry hacks & Advanced Config tricks for keeping the screen on while a call is in progress do not apply to the Jade/3G.
However, there is a solution to overcome this annoying feature:
install Touch InCall Screen Tweak, and set the options "Ignore first screen off" and "Always On" in the options.
Why keep the screen on during call? Your face will just start activating things at random. If you really need it on (maybe using earpiece) you can always press the power button.
It's annoying
I have never accidently pressed anything on the screen while calling.
However, having to press the power button to bring the screen back while calling voicemail has annoyed me many times.
I also believe it is annoying that the screen blacks out. Even when I have the phone facing down and not to my ear, the screen blacks
I need to get it on, so I could use speakerphone. I'm one of those that love using speakerphone, so yea
I will try the InCall cab file.

Call Pickup: Call pickup while phone is in my pocket. How to prevent?

hello xda community
i'm very new to the blackstone and this is my first post here. so please bear with me if i'm asking very basic questions here.
my problem:
i carry my blackstone in my pocket all the time. and many people told me throughout the last days that they called me and that i picked up the call by accident.
since i work at customer sites mostly my phone is muted. so people call me and somehow i pickup the calls while the phone is in my pocket.
i always turn of the screen and i have the automatic lock (password protection) enabled. still when the incoming call screen comes up it looks like it is possible that calls are being picked up.
i know there is the slide which has to be moved to the left in order to pickup calls.
i have tried myself by calling my from my home phone and touching the screen and the buttons at random. and indeed the calls are being picked up. i was not able to find out how this is happening ... but it does.
so is there any setting i can change or any additional piece of software i can install to make sure calls are only answered when i want?
possible a reg key i need to change?
any help is very much appreciated
cheers
This isn't just a problem with the Blackstone; every WM phone I have had does this. I have found that a good locking program handles this quie well. I personally like S2U2 by A_C, but there are many others available. You can look in the apps forum, or check the development & hacking forum from the main menu.
The other thing to check is that you have all your notifcations set properly. I set all of mine to vibrate only. Many of them turn on the screen by default. Unfortunately this won't fix the problem on its' own though.
mwelch16 ... thank you very much for the reply
i will give it a try and see how it works for me.
so that means first of all i will have to slide that iphone type of lock and then take the call by using the regular slider?
is there any other way (without) an additional piece of software to handle this? cause after all there is the build in slider ... but somehow it's not working as it is supposed to. any enhancement to that?
thanks again
Is there a way how to disable the CALL PICKUP button which is on the left? so the first of the four buttons?
I think it's because it getting pressed while my phone is in the pocket.
thanks a lot
I use Pocket Shield - it's not free (free to try though) but it's worked well for me

No, S2U2 will unlock itself for a phone call and then lock the phone again after the call. So no need to slide to unlock and then answer your phone. It has a bunch of different settings, and yes I believe it locks the hard buttons.
thanks folks for the replies
i found all the settings i was looking for in the S2U2 options. so i'm good right now.
thanks again
You're probably answering the call by pressing the "phone" button (the very left of the four buttons on the bottom). You can either use those buttons to answer/hang up, or the on screen slider.
I've used AE Button Plus to disable the 'Answer' and 'End' hardware keys and re-mapped them to turn wifi and bluetooth off and on. This way there is no chance of hanging up on a call by mistake since you need to use the slide to answer on screen.
Similar but opposite problem
I'm having a problem along the same lines. If I get a call when the phone is in my pocket and answer it on my bluetooth headset, when the call ends the phone then rings someone else, usually the same person who is at the top of my contacts list. Not only is this damned annoying for me, it's getting a bit tedious for the person getting the unwanted calls.
Is there any way to get the phone to immediately lock as soon as a call terminates to prevent this happening? I'm assuming that once the call ends and it returns to the default contact/dial pad screen, the merest brush against the screen will be enough to start a new call.
I'm beginning to think I should have stuck with my iPhone

I've the exact same problem, 3/4 of the incoming calls rejected when I get the phone out of my pocket due to End button accidentally pressed.
What did they thought when they implement the slide to answer ????
The purpose of the slide to answer is to avoid such accident, but why the hell did they keep the Answer / End buttons active ????? total non sense to me.
Will check if this AE Button + app can solve this annoying behaviour.
has anyone tried Lockmelite?
It may help - haven't used it myself though.
x 2 for PocketShield. It uses the light sensor in your phone to prevent the touchscreen from activating when the device is inside, say, a pouch, or in your pocket.
I'm using evaluation version 2.6.2.10, which as I understand it, has full functionality, except that every now and then, randomly (and IMO infrequently enough to not be annoying) before unlocking it displays a 10 second message saying that you're using an evaluation version. Note that this *never* happens during an incoming phone call. Good stuff.
Hi,
Try TouchLockPro :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=444215
Now it handle light unlock in any cases, that as solved all my issues (pocket, in cas BT,...) and fulfill all my requirements.
BR
Pocket Shield doing perfect job for me
I use AE Buttons Plus to disable the "Answer" & "End" virtual buttons. Then I used iconsoft Phonext to handle all my calling functionalities. When a call comes in, Phonext display a lock screen which you have to slide before it presents you with all the options like answer, decline, silence etc.
This way, I never accidentally pickup a call or dial a number.

Disabling the lockscreen after waking the phone up

Hi guys!
So I'll have to wait for my preordered HD2 untill 20th November here in Poland, but watching all the preview videos, a question arose in my head. I know the device isn't out yet, but its rom builds are already flying around, so maybe someone knows the answer. Will it be possible to disable showing of the lock screen after waking up the phone with the end call/power button and the device taking you immediately to the homescreen? I'm used to that on my TD2, and I think that using the phone this way is just much faster.
If i have undersood ur question correctly by completely disabling lock screen of ur future Leo, then yeah, thats possible. If u navigate through ur moving cursor to Settings, then Sound and Display and finally to Backlight options, there two options exist, when phone its on battery and/or External power, to either set the time limit to have the screen locked (and dim backlight of course) or to completely diselect it, which actually disables Leo to show and/or show lock screen.
Hope that clarification helped you
It sure did, thanks a lot I just hope that the buttons on the face of the HD2 will turn out to be as "shallow", flat and "stiff" as they look like in the vids, so that no accidental pressing of the end key while the device is in the pocket will be possible in practice

I did not think about the accidental pressing of END key before, but this will surely worry me, atleast I get the handset myself and test it in real-life...
Well even if any accidental cliks will be happening, then the lock screen will actually come in handy
well even if the buttons get pressed somehow, the screen won't react to pressure so only buttons will work if there's no lockscreen
You're right, good point hehe I guess all of us WM fans will have to get used to capacitive screens and their advantages/disadvantages
I think there will be 2 potential risks...
1. "Send" button is pressed accidentally more than once (last dialed number will be dialed)
2. Any keys get accidentally pressed continuously (device will remain on impacting battery life)
So yet a good screen locking solution will be recommended
3. "end call/power" button pressed and hold -> device turns off (at least I think so..or is there a "confirmation screen"??) -> you don't get any incoming calls/messages/etc at all =)
Btw, if you turn off the stuff as B3ler3fonte said, would there be any locking at all? So would touchscreen etc be allways "ready" and consuming battery?
In my Diamond2 (I dont use any lock screen or anything) when the screen is turned off and I press long the power button, the confirmation for powering off the device does in fact pop up, but the screen remains turned off, so its impossible to confirm the power off prompt (I see the prompt popped up when I press the pwr button once again to turn on the screen). So probably no threat from here. And even if the screen activates and the prompt for turning off the phone does come out, there's no way of confirming it in your pocket - thats the capacitive screen advantage. But the battery draining issues may occur at some scale... I guess we'll see how it all turns out in real life. The probably unavoidable problem will be if the end button would be possible to get pressed by accident - then we would be facing constant battery drainage with the lockscreen always appearing for no reason.

That could help but won't much, because(at least current models) they wake up upon any reminder, battery low, call, text, etc. Besides you will have to use both hands to turn phone on (the top button, unless you got ET fingers ) HD is tall...
Cannot see that menu item

Sorry but there is no setting for lockscreen in this menu. There is only settings for the backlight in battery or charged mode.
There is no control for the lockscreen at all Still looking for a way to completely disable this damned lockscreen.
Agreed - even the entry in the Settings tab that claims to control the lockscreen seems to have no impact (I have mine set to 12 hours and it completely ignores that) and the standard registry hacks don't seem to have any effect.
This is a real puzzler!

changing the registry key: HKey_current_user/ControlPanel/Backlight/AutodevicelockEnable to value '0' (zero) works with other 6.5 roms
by default it must have seen to '1'
edit: my bad, its been solved already

Screen off during call

Hi,
When I make a call the screen goes off and i cant get it back on unless i press the hang up button. This causes problems when i need to use the keypad during calls. Is there a registry edit to allow the screen to stay on during a call as ive search the phones setting and cant find anything.
Thanks
Try this:

Thanks. Ill give it a try. Not sure how to use it yet but im sure ill figure it out.

If you look to the left of the earphone you will see two dots - this is the proximity sensor. The function is to make the screen go blank when during a call you put the phone near your ear, so you don't accidentally press a screen button.
The main culprits are protective cases and screens blocking the signal. So make sure that the sensors are not obstructed.
Thanks fred-up. I have a protective case on my phone but it is transparent. Ill try it without and see if it helps.

[SOLVED] cannot hang up during call

I noticed this problem:
when i start a call, my screen become black and i cannot hang-up the call.
anyone with same problem?
another little question:
i have a time-limited data plan (40H /month) is there a way to know if my HD2/WP7 phone is connected or not? or a way to control my data connection?
thank you!
I have the same issue. If I hold the proximity sensor directly to a bright light source the screen comes back on but I'm not always near a bright light source. I've been making calls on my bluetooth headset because that has a hardware hang-up button. If someone could work out how to hook up the hd2 hang-up button this would be a massive help...
EDIT: i make some test, plese discard this post (test result in post #5)
I'm not sure about yours, but after I finish my call I just remove my phone from my ear then the screen show up . Regardless where I am (dim or bright place) the screen responds to the movement of the phone away from my ear .
ok, i make some other test.
confirmed, we have some problem with proximity sensors.
when i make a call, the screen become black. immediately, witoutn anything else.
wen i remove the phone from my ear the screen will NOT come up UNLESS the other part hang up.
for example: if the other part use an answering machine, i am able to record my message, but the screen DOES NOT comes up when i remove it from my ear.
if the other part is a friend, and HE hang up the call, my screens lights up, again, sayng "call ended". then return to the home screen.
if i'm in-call, and i expose the phone to a bright light, the screen comes back too, sowhing all in-call options (speaker activation keypad, and some other things)
Just press the normal hang up button and that should act as the power button to bring the screen back on...

during call this button doesn't do nothing.... already try with all button..
i just play with registry entries, some are interesting.
HKLM\Drivers\Builtin\Proximity
ScreenOffDebounceTime DWORD:50 (Decimal value)
ScreenOffThreshold DWORD:256 (Decimal value)
But i cannot figure how they affect screen (i try to change their value with no effect)
update:
seems i fix it!!!
after an UPGRADE (hehehe) to winMo 6.5, i realize that problem still exist.
then i remove a portion of the screen protextor and proximity sensors works again!
even if i use original HTC screen protector... :\

I've tried that already but it didn't work for me. I did have my screen replaced so I wonder if the problem started then...
Same to me... Is this a replaced screen issue?
Strange one this...the red button (bottom right of the 5 physical buttons) just brings the screen to life for me and should work I would have thought regardless if screen is replaced.
hey guys i am facing a problem too with my tmous hd2...i have dual booted it..when i make a call in android or win7 proximity sensor doesnt turn off the screen at all.....so i end calls without my knowledge and intent.....anyone facing similar issues??? anybody knows any solution???
