Stock Kernel CPU Speed vs Fugumod - Galaxy 3 General

Hi everyone,
I just have a little question.
It seems that when installing Fugumod kernel, users (including me) start to experience some lags on some (unknown to me) circumstances. These lags are easily solved by setting the min frequency to 166 MHz (I do that with pimp my cpu). My question is : Is that behaviour different than with the stock kernel ? I mean what is the min frequency on the stock kernel ? 83 MHz like the fugumod kernel ? Setting 166MHz as min frequency is a patch or is it just putting back the same value as the stock kernel ?
I known that I could easily test it by myself just by putting back a stock kernel over my fugumod kernel, but I already converted all three FS to ext2/ext4.
And btw, i like my Fugumod kernel so thanks to Sebastien and the others for their work.
Fred.

yes the default freq for the CPU are 667-83 and if want to use THE DEFAULT freq than flash a non OC version of FUGUMOD

Thanks, but that was not my question ;-)
I simply want to known what is the behavior of a stock kernel regarding cpu freq. Is the min frequency on a stock kernel also 83 MHz or something else ?
Fred.

I think the main problem is the governor, or wrongly chosen governor that keeps the cpu stuck too low

My mistake, as you talked about fugumod OC, I though you were referring default freq range for FuguMod instead of the stock one.

Thanks, but it lead to other questions ;-)
What is the default governor of a stock kernel ?
As I am using FuguMod 2.4 800, and PimpMyCpu tells me that there's no governor, is it safe to assume that it's the same governor on my FuguMod version and on the stock kernel. If so, why lags on Fugumod?
And finally, on Fugumod kernel what would be the best governor. My aim is more battery conservation than pure performance, yet these lags @83MHz are extremely annoying.
Thanks,
Fred.

well on my i phone i also prefer to use the conservative governor but when it comes to play heavy games i change the governor to performance.
for saving battery make a screen off profile with max frequency 166 or just a bit more that that...
it saved a lot of my battery...

Is FuguMod Kernel stable?

I have a question about fugumod 2.4 beta3 kernel: whenever i flash it over a ROM ( stock or custom ) it laggs.
Is it me or did this happen to anyone else?

Yes it happened to me also....went back to fugumod 2.2.
I think for some people ,the lags where gone by setting min freq to 166Mhz and governor to ondemand ...you could try this
ty will try it now
EDIT:Worked fine
I am on indroid 4.3 with fugmod 2.4 beta3 standard non oc version. Believe me, It is totally stable and i haven't even changed any setting in set cpu.
Apparently there is a bug in the conservative CPU governor. You need to use something other than that and it should be good. I switched it to ondemand and it works good.

Overclock on GingerXperia

Does gingerxperia support overclock by itself?
I see in cyanogenmod setting overclock option and when i change it to (for ex. 729 mhz) i go back to home screen and the return to overclock setting i see it return to default (600 mhz). Why?!!
Also SetCPU doesn't work!
Do i have to install custom kernal??
*In MiniCM-7 overclock works fine from cyanogenmod settings.

You have to instal either the OC Module for stock kernel or any custom kernel which supports OC'ing. Are you sure it worked in MiniCM-7, except from having the ability to check the new amount of MHz?

you mean this: Modules for stock kernel.: Flash with CWM. This package contains: AnDyX's Dualtouch for Cypress, AnDyX's smartass governor, ext3/4, X8Gesture, X8MDDI, X8UV.
but what is that "smartass governor and the x8mddi"??

x8 mddi is a module that reduce the lag experienced by all custom roms. governor is the way the phone control the cpu. smartass governor operates by reducing ur cpu speed when the screen is off and increasing it when the screen is on.

Im used before Gingerxperia v17 with stock kernel 2.6.29 and it allowed overclocking. No problems! Now i using same ROM with nAa kernel 2.6.29-nAa-08 and have no issues.Do you know when you will install custom kernel you MUST have opened bootloader!
overclock
i have 2.6.29 and i cant overclock my x8 , can anybody help me....plz

help,laggy problem

my phone gets laggy after installing kuro kernel.. did anyone have this problem too,or it is just me??
you must have NO FRILLS or other cpu frequency changer.
then change the max fre. to 832 then min fre. to 312
governor - smartassV2
i/o - sio
you also must root your phone
the main interest of kuro's kernel :
1. save more batteries
2. decent performance
if you want more performance install meruk's kernel
if u want performance with kuro's kernel
root ur phone and install rom toolbox
go to cpu control
chose
- powercats = lazy --> performance
- blackcats = smartassv2 --> balanced setting
- activecats = intellidemand --> battery saver
push thanks button

Its becoz its a battery saving Kernel so there will be some lag for sure but if u want smooth performance use no frills cpu and change your governer to other like activecats.

try
governer:bcm21553
sio:cfq
done!!!
enjoy your device without lag

Help: WHICH KERNEL IS BEST FOR BATTERY SAVING?

I wanted to know which kernel (and version) is the best option for battery saving purposes. Would be White kernel, kuro or merruk pre 2.0?
Without a doubt it would be Kuro Kernel.
Set as follows:
Governor: Conservative or blackcats
I/O Scheduler: deadline
Min Clock freq. : 156 Mhz
Max clock Freq. : 780 or 624 Mhz

Bro try all kernels and decide yourself this is not the q to be asked....every kernel are best and good at battery saving and performances.....thanks for understanding

deafult cpu stock kernel values?

Hi... I don't have them in mind and actually running EX Kernel... Since nobody seems to answer, the best way for you to find out is to install it and check by yourself with a kernel manager app: Kernel Adiutor, EX Kernel Manager, etc... It should normally cost you a maximum of 15 minutes of your time... :good:
Good luck...
