You have to install the OC Kernel by ardatdat here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=897877
Or you install Urukdroid (our only rom) with the OC-Kernel (i think this would be the better option)
What do you want?
I could give you instructions

Well from what I have read I could go upto about 1.2 Ghz to give it a little more zip. Is the rom any good?. Would probably go for the kernel. Ideas?

The rom is very good
but when you just want the kernel..
first: what firmware version do you have?

Now you say the roms good maybe I should give it a go. How much of an improvement is it?

Much
You have EXT4, that makes everything a little faster, you have root (Chainfire for HD games...) and such stuff, you can overclock, and with the libq modifacted kernel from sibere you have a real speed boost
i would try it

Ok will give it a go can you point me at a noob proof tut. Would really like to give it some extra speed.

Here i haved copied the installation instructions for you:
Code:
Step one
Assuming you have already installed SDE from Archos:
Download and extract installation files from archive UrukDroid_1.0-EasyInstall.rar. Inside you should find three files: initramfs.cpio.gz, zImage and UrukDroid-install.tgz
Flash initramfs.cpio.gz and zImage from SDE boot menu:
power on (2) Archos device, hold up/+ volume key (1) until you see "Archos AXXXX - Boot Menu",
choose with Volume +/- (1) "Recovery System"->"Developer Edition Menu"->"Flash Kernel and Initramfs",
connect Archos to PC (5) and copy zImage and initramfs.cpio.gz
press power button (2) shortly, you should see Archos flashing new kernel
if flashed properly, press power button (2) shortly to reboot...
Boot to SDE:
power on (2) Archos, hold up/+ volume key (1) until you see "Archos AXXXX - Boot Menu",
choose "Developer edition"
You should see "UrukDroid 1.0 Installation framework" title. Please choose simple install method. When asked to, connect Archos to PC (5) once again and copy UrukDroid-install.tgz, disconnect Archos from PC properly (umount, safely remove device etc.) and press power button (2) shortly. Now EI will check installation file and prepare it for next step.
Later, you will be also able to choose whether you want to copy /data partition. It's recommended not to - but you have this option. For advanced install method - look below.
After reboot you should see UrukDroid 1.0 boot up screen (if it happens to boot to stock OS, reboot once again and go to "Boot menu", choose "Developer edition").
You should see some progress information on bottom of the screen. For few minutes you will see installation message with progress bar. Few minutes later, after some postinstallation procedures you should see UrukDroid boot animation and shortly after Archos setup wizard.
If with first run "Archos configuration wizard" creates "Force close" errors, please reboot device (hold power button shortly for more than 1 second, this will bring "Power menu" and press power button long until "Reboot" message will appear).
Congratulations! you have just installed UrukDroid
Here is a video how-to:

Thanks, will give it a try later and will post back to let you know how I get on.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct files? You want to use Urukdroid 1.0, not 0.7. The link is here: http://sauron.pourix.com/UrukDroid/UrukDroid-1.0/UrukDroid_1.0-Install.rar
The install instructions are here: http://code.google.com/p/urukdroid/wiki/Installation
It shouldn't take more than fifteen minutes from the point of having the SDE installed, to having Uruk fully running.

Well your probably right, don't think I started with 1.0 . I started with the easy installer but I think it was 0.5. Do you think this is the problem?. Will give it another try later with 1.0, is your link to the easy installer version?.

You said it was an A101, right? It should work fine. What method are you using to install? Easy or Advanced? Do you have an SDcard in the slot? When you tried with 1.0, what was your exact procedure. In other words, more details please...

Could you tell me how to OC 1.2 with Uruk 1.0 ?
Hi,
I'm new here and new with Android too . I'm a PC guy. I've had Urukroid 1.0 installed in my Archos now (in internal). I'd like OC to 1.2 GHz but I don't know how to do it with OC kernel by ardatdat. Can you show me? Thanks!

The ardatdat kernel is not compatible with Uruk, that's why he said either/or. As of a couple days ago though, there is a new alpha OC kernel for Uruk: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1017593/ArchosGEN8/UrukDroid-1.1/UrukDroid-1.1RC1-kernelOC.tbz2

Boot UrukDroid from openAOS BootMenu

Some PPL on the development forums were asking how to boot $auron's UrukDroid out of bubu's openAOS Boot Menu. Since i can't post there yet, i'll post here.
I looked at bubu's initramfs/init script and it should be fairly easy to boot any partition as well as any rootfs.img.
the menu.lst syntax is:
Code:
{NAME(has to be unique)}|{DEVICE(leave blank for img)}|{IMG}|{INIT}
A special thing is putting 'ARCHOS' into {DEVICE}, because that will boot from ARCHOS' stock SQUASHFS file
so adding this line to menu.txt should let you boot UrukDroid from sdcard
Code:
UrukDoid|/dev/mmcblk2p2||/sbin/init
I have to add, i havn't tried it myself yet, because i haven't put bubu's loader on my A70IT yet.
I would really appreciate you letting me know if it works!
Greetings Oro

First:
Thanks for your work
Would this also work, with on internal installed urukdroid?
You would have to get the device name of your root partition
since mine is a sdcard install i can only provide that information.
but if you can boot into uruk right now you can do the following to get the device node:
Open any terminal emulator and type:
Code:
cat /etc/mtab
then search for
Code:
<device> / <fstype> rw,noatime,barrier=1,nodealloc,....
in my case that is:
Code:
/dev/mmcblk2p2 / ext4 ....
take the first one (<device>) and put it into the menu.lst line:
Code:
UrukDroid|<device>||/sbin/init
still i haven't tested any of this. it's just the result of my looking at the bootloader's init script

I cant i installed the openaos boot menu, so urukdroid is gone...
I really want to have uruk again, i hate the stock firmware
I know these steps, but is there no way to compile a *.img from uruk?...
i compiled one but these dont worked...
first of all IMO putting Uruk into an image file would be stupid,
second you'd have to either find a way to run the installer on your computer, or ask $auron what exactly it does and put a working rootfs togehter manually or dump an existing thing
your best bet would be to boot openAOS and dd Uruk's Root Partition into some img file. But since you don't know which yout Uruk Root is and i don't either, only thing left would be to ask $auron where he installs it. and if you know that, you can use my method just as well

Nope
if you've got the device node of yout Uruk root you should be able to put it into that menu.lst lint i showed you where <device> is.
Just to mention it, I don't know if $auron provides a working live-initramfs, but if he does you should be able to simply flash that through the sde recovery menu.
by live-initramfs i mean one, that doesn't launch EasyInstall but run UrukDroid directly.

i aksed sauron per pm
Hmm.. how do i explain.
It's like this:
the device node is like a link to the partition.
If you put Uruk on a Partition, you have to tell the bootloader which partition is the right one, the one with Uruk on it.
The bootloader then searches for an init-file there and executes it
so bubu's menu is the bootloader in this case, so you tell him where he has to search for Uruk by putting the right device node into the menu.lst.
hope you understand it a little better now
greetings

another question: any idea how to get the menu booting instead of normal archos android?
(Sde instead of archos, like sauron did at urukdroid)
What exactly do you mean?
Like switching between custom and stock?
That'd be for hold voldown while the archos bootscreen shows up and selecting SDE or Android.
And the SDE entry will launch whatever you put there through the SDE recovery Menu
Greetings

No, he mean booting on it not by going in the recovery menu, just on pushing the "ON" button.

Anyway,
For downgrade to 1.0:
-Boot up with volume button down
-Recovery System>>Repair Device>>Format Disk
-After the wipe you have to connect your archos to your pc and copy the lastest *.aos file from archos.com (firmware, look under downloads)
-Just install urukdroid 1.0 normally as you did

Hm...
there is a way to backup your apps (just the apps no savings) but you need a linux distro to do so
if you have linux do this:
Connect your archos with your pc
Boot with volume down button hold down
Recovery System >> (i think..)Repair Device>>Start Usb MSC
You should see 3 different devices connected to your linux pc
I dont know which it is, but you just should search a directory like "system/app"
In this folder there are all your games apks you can copy these to your pc and do my instructions above..
After that just install the apks on your new urukdroid system

[Scripts] The Legit Zip (Feb 8, 2012) & Nifty Coniptions Tweaks v1.01

Updated tweaks are at bottom of this post
Here is a flashable zip of 3 scripts that when put together speed up your phone and make it faster.
The niftyconiptionstweaks was meant only for the HTC Evo 4g but if your phone supports "init.d" then try it out if you want to and please report back. It may not even flash in recovery because the phones are different but its worth a shot. If it works, please post saying it does and what kind of phone you have. The Legit Zip should work for any phone.
To determine if your phone supports "init.d", download a file manager like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, go to "system", then "etc". If you come across a folder named "init.d" then your phone may support it.
I did not write these scripts, I just edited them to work like Car-O-Dopes tweaks. It basically has the same values as Car-o-Dopes tweaks. It is best to use this on a Sense rom. I used the S97ramscript, KickAssKernel, and 02sictweaks but I changed the values of each script to match what Car-o-Dopes tweaks do, and I wanted to share this with you all because it makes installing these tweaks easier and faster. Thanks to zeppelinrox for the kickasskernelizer, Juwe11 for the S97ramscript, Smokinl1337 for the 02sicktweaks, coffehandle for giving me the idea when he made his own tweaks, and Car-o-Dope for coming up with the ultimate combination of out-of-memory settings and sysctl tweaks that make your phone smooth as butter.
I use this on my HTC Evo 4g running Shooter E3D, with AnthraX kernel and it works like a charm.
I am in no way responsible if your device messes up or anything unwanted happens to it. Use at your own risk.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/40376256/niftyconiptionstweaks.zip
Instructions: Follow Exactly
1) Make a nandroid backup incase something goes wrong or you want to revert.
2) Download a file manager like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer (I use Root explorer).
3) Open up root explorer and go to "system", then "etc", then "init.d". Click on the "Mount R/W" button so it turns to "Mount R/O" (that way you can delete files).
4) Delete any or move to a folder on your sdcard (incase you want to revert) any ram scripts or ram tweaks you may have that is in the "init.d" folder (examples of ram scripts or tweaks are 01sysctl, 06sysctl, 02sicktweaks, S97ramscript, 99supercharge, and 98Kickasskernel).
5) Also if you are running v6 supercharger, you need to un-supercharge. If you are running Kickass Kernelizer, you need to un-kernelize and do not run those scripts while you have the niftyconiptionsscripts installed.
6) Uninstall any ram manager apps or task killers and do not use these.
7) After you uninstall all of that, reboot your phone and verify that none of the scripts you had before are still installed. (it will mess with the scripts you are about to install).
8) Boot into recovery (preferably Amon Ra).
9) Once in recovery, you need to mount /system, then mount /data.
10) Find the niftyconiptionstweaks.zip you downloaded and flash it.
11) After you flash the zip, go back and unmount /system. Don't mess with the /data because after you flashed the zip, it automatically unmounted the /data for you.
12) Reboot phone and enjoy. Let your phone set at the lock screen for about 2 minutes, unlock and let it set for another 2 minutes to let it settle in. Your phone will become dramatically smoother after about an hour.
UPDATE:
Nifty Coniptions Tweaks
Updated niftyconitpionstweaks. Install just as you would before and follow directions as posted above. I got rid of some unnecessary settings in the scripts. Also your sdcard read ahead speed will change to 512kb which is the optimal value for the evo.

I did not change any values to these so its the same as installing those two scipts manually. Again, I did not write these scripts, I just put them into a tweak bundle to make it easier to install. Thanks to zepplinrox for making the V6 supercharger and the Kickasskernalizer. To install this, follow the same instructions in the first post.
To see if the settings stuck, download Rom Toolbox Pro and go to the performance tab, Kernel tweaks or Sysctl Tweaks (depending on what version of the application you have) and see if it reads as Min Free KBytes - 4096, Dirty Ratio - 95, Dirty Background Ratio - 60, VFS Cache Pressure - 10. Then go to the Auto Memory Manager and see if it reads as 6,12,150,165,180,200.
If you would like me to add another version of the V6 Supercharger just let me know.
Have fun and hit that thanks button if you like it.

Like I said in the OP. Idk if it will work or not for any other phone besides the evo, that's why I have it in this section to find out what phones it will work for. If it does, please report back, The Legit Zip should work with no problems though.

I am able to do all that also, but can't backup and can't install anything. I get error can't mount data/recovery and aborts.
ok... so i'm trying for the 100th time to install this silly thing... and for some reason... when i try to run it... it kicks me out...
i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong...
when i attempt to pause the install process... i get a screen full of if i type adb without an argument...
if someone could gimme a hand with this or tell me what the hell i am doing wrong... i'd appreciate it...
i wanna try to get laidaxin's cm7.2 working on my phone...
i dunno if it matters... but i am attempting to install from a windows xp machine...
Hello!
First, Thanks to all people around this work, specially Laidaxin for good work.
Well, sadly... I also still stuck on install the FlipSide recovery option of the first post... I did all te proccess by eleven times, testing different details that may be not clear for me (as run as administrator, with abd CMD screen closed and opened, if the version of adb never shows me the logs that appears in cmd screenshot... several times I got on the FlipSide the screens talking about su and later 2ndinit script got superuser permissions... but the screens of cmd generated by the script are so fast that was not able to read or check if the 2ndinit script was succesfull or if there something else that may be failing/missed... so by now still no luck)
as a resume, in hope that may help to test from new friends around here:
1) I reflashed my FlipSide to stock with sbf from the other thread tutorial (I use sbfflash in linux and everything works fine, using Power+UParrow in keyboard to enter in bootloader mode my Flipside)... and then I insert my SIM and SD card wiped with only the CM7-Laidaxin.zip file on it, ...complete setup as minimal possible in order to be able to set USB mode to memory access, and turn on usb development in applications menu.
2) Then I ROOT with SuperOneClick version 2.1.1!!! and connect my phone in normal use screen home (NOT bootloader mode!) with UBS debugging turn on and with USB mode set to memory card access (NOT Moto Portal No Media access...), the other methos with Z4root and newer versions of SuperOneClick FAILS for me...
3) I then try to install recovery with Laidaxin installer and procedure, but as I said after some attemps I still not success in get the recovery working, also try diferent ways... removing battery then reboot with VolumeDown pressed, Turn off normal and repeat, turning ON AND AFTER see the Red Moto press the VolDown key short time, later maintained it long, then pressing it several times, etc...
So, I made this resume in order to share info from my side and hope to save some time to other friends that may want to test the CM7 from Laidaxin, than in fact seems like a GREAT work for our Flips... so please if any help to get this fully working and tested will be very gratefull...
Best regards!
Ok... since I still can't get the automated installer working... I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to the forum/website that that installer came from... I would love to try to push it myself... but I'd have to do some reading...

Hi!
Ok, I am not totally sure, but I suspect that this is the original link of this recovery, however, just now I need to go to my work, so, I do not have chance right now to check it, but hope may be usefull.

Best regards!
You should be able to install it like this:
- Extract everything in the "data" folder into a folder called "bootmenu" on your sdcard
- Then use either "adb shell" from a command prompt, or Terminal Emulator on the phone should work:
Code:
su
cp -R /sdcard/bootmenu /data/bootmenu
cd /data/bootmenu
chmod 0755 *
./install.sh
And it should say "Install complate...."
You can also remove the folder(s) if you want:
Code:
rm -R /data/bootmenu
rm -R /sdcard/bootmenu
Then to get into it, reboot the phone and once the notification light turns on, hit volume down

laidaxin's rom replaces this recovery with one that doesn't quite work perfectly yet...
You should be able to boot back into CM7 and re-run the above commands and it'll work again
That doesn't change anything for me... it still won't unmount system...
I think if I read the output from the script install...
Our recovery installs to system... since Motorola doesn't love us

Maybe try "rm -R /system/bootmenu" then install it...

It does the same for me, which is what's keeping me from trying CM7, as I have no way to restore my current nandroid. The defy installs their recovery to /system as well and I gather that it works as intended, I wonder if it's that we need our own build of CWM. Do we know if whoever built CWM for the defy has their source tweaks available?
Unless you have something irreplacable in your /system or /data... I would just have RSD lite and an sbf ready... and take the plunge...
Because....
When you use CM7... apps2sd moves not only the apk... but also the lib files to the sd card...
As long as you switch the 'network operator' to GSM only (in wireless and networks)... laidaxin's kang runs beautifully... much much faster than stock
Sent from my Filpside using Tapatalk
Link2SD has no problem moving the lib files in our stock rom... I'm no stranger to reflashing with RSD Lite, it's just tedious to get everything set back up JUST right, and this is exactly the kind of thing nandroid is great for.

[How To] (video) Supercharge Ice Cream Sandwich!!!

EDIT: This doesn't work on ODEX ROMs! That would be stock ROMs, as most custom ROMs are deodexed. If it is an odex ROM, you can do the mod, but you have to do it manually (the web app doesn't work). Check out the second post in the supercharger thread for a how-to. But if you are on a custom ROM the method in the video will work!
Alright, so I have been reading about how to supercharge ICS for awhile, but the process looked daunting. However I figured it out, and it works great! This will work on ANY ROM, so try it out!
I have been using this for awhile, and it's just super smooth. I've been using it a lot lately, and it hasn't given me a bit of lag yet! It's just gone!
What is V6?
V6 supercharger is a script that manages the RAM memory. This makes multi-tasking much faster, and it knows when to kill off apps that are taking a lot of RAM. This makes your phone a lot faster and more efficient!
Here is the person who made the script: V6 Supercharger
Here is a dl link to the script: DOWNLOAD LINK
I'm in! So... How Do I Do this?
Well I made a video for you:
Here are instructions:
1. Download the supercharger script from the link above and put it on the root of your SD card.
2. Get an app called script manager from the market. It's free. Open it up and click on the supercharge script from the list of what's on your SD card. Click the SU button, then hit run.
3. Go through the setup. Set scrolling speed to 1. When they ask if you want to integrate it into the system, say yes. You will get to a list of about 30 options after a little bit.
4. Select number 6 (I know I said 7 in the video, but 6 has better multitasking) for this phone, and hit enter. It will go through a whole bunch of stuff.
5. It will ask you to superclean and restart. SAY NO. You'll do that inn a minute. Just hit the home button.
6. Open the browser on your phone and go to : android.mimic.ca and hit the upload button. There will be a popup, select root explorer (Install it if you don't have it already). Go into system/framework/ and select the services.jar file. It will take you back to the website. Hit upload. The page will reload. Now select the CMW flashable zip option and download it. Go to root explorer and move that to the root of your SD card.
7. Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvic, then flash the zip. Reboot. Done! Enjoy the speedieness!

Let me know what ya think!
Alright, so enough questions have been asked that I should start giving answers to them here.
Q. Do I need to re-flash the file in recovery if I want to make changes?
A. Not if you make changes to the the supercharger script (ie. change options). The only time you have to flash it is if you upgrade/change ROMs. Just remember to make a new one, and don't flash the old file!
Q. Isn't option "X" better/faster/easier on battery?
A. Play around with them and see what works for you. I like option 6. Not too aggressive, but it still keeps control. Just use the options that are for your phone (ie 512HP for this phone because it has that much RAM. So option 5, 6, or 7). I also use the nitro-lagnullifier. It makes things even faster!
Q. Does it affect battery life?
A. Yes, in a good way! I get better battery life.
Q. How do I know if it worked??
A. Open up script manager, and go to the supercharger file. let it run, and once you get to the menu with all the options, it will tell you if you are supercharged or not right below that.
Those were the most commonly asked questions. If they don't answer your questions then post 'em!

so this looks promising but how does it the effect on battery life with ICS.

This shouldn't hurt the battery. I used to use it on my Epic fairly often especially once the Gingerbread leaks started coming out. There are several different routes to go with the script too. It can also be used to improve multitasking such as when you have multiple apps open at once.

thanks for the quick tut. I was gonna try using it on aokp as well, then i saw ics you had to do something extra and i just stopped looking into it lol - It's much easier than i expected.

just installed along with the KAK

can someone please explain to me why in the instructions it says for me to upload my services.jar file to this guy's website???? That just seems very fishy!!
Why can't we patch the file locally??? Why does your server have to do it for me when an app could easily be written to do it without me uploading my services.jar to some random website I don't trust!

You can patch it manually. Check out the link in the OP. However, it requires unziping the file, opening it in notepad++, editing the code, zipping it back up, putting it back in the phone, and editing some stuff with terminal emulator. It's a bit over most people's heads, and the website makes it easy by making the patched services.jar a flashable zip.
If you want to do it, be my guest. It's all in the second post of the supercharger thread.

I have only used it on custom ROMs. The web app doesn't work for odex ROMs (stock), but it will work on custom ROMs. Try one of them out, it should work then. just titanium backup, flash new ROM, and restore backup. Won't loose your apps!
