just though of something, can we use google voice on the tab by forwarding all the calls from our cell phone and be able to receive/make calls that way? what do you guys think?.
And how do you plan on doing this without actually having ever phone functionality? It obviously will work, getting google voice working on the tab. The real problem is getting the phone functionality, well......functional!

hmm i guess you are right and if we have the phone functionality working then there would be no need for google voice....
U cant. theres no dialer app, so theres no option to dial out using GV
Ive never tried GV on android. But im assuming thats how it works (that it integrate into built in dialer) from what ive read

Gmail VOIP Want work, has to have a plugin that will not work on android.

You can't receive standard voice calls, but you can set Google Voice to call you on a VoIP line. E.g. I have a Gizmo5 account and use that with CSipSimple to redirect phone calls to.
I found the voice quality over Wifi with headphones to be excellent ;-)

lol what you talking about? yes you can make calls. you gotta hack it of course. see the video two posts up
someone should develop an app that not only restrict outgoing calls to a specific number, but also restrict outgoing texts also.
this would be a good intervention tool for ppl who cant stop calling or texting someone who doesnt want that attention

It's not possible to intercept outgoing sms on stock roms.
Cyanogenmod 7 has phone goggles which does what you are asking. I do not know any app that can realise this.
hello i am searching an OUTGOING CALL blocker, too.
in germany it is the 0900 and 0137 precall number.
phone goggles can block incoming calls. like 100 other apps.
phone is a , rooted, galaxy3.
i am looking for a phone solution instead a provider solution.

there are some apps that requires both phones to have internet connection to receive/send message/calls
for example ... i want to call my friend using those free calls and text/chat apps ... but in order for them to receive my calls/texts they should have internet connection ... is there an app that can receive calls/texts even the one you are calling/texting doesnt have internet .???

Skype can make calls voip to a non voip phone but you have to buy credits
There is no free way as far as I know to make a voip call to a non voip phone

try binu it allows u to send 5 free sms per day or week ,i forgot. it uses internet but the receiver receives it as normal sms without internet

So...if I am not on WIFI, and I make a call using the new hangouts, is it using my provider's minutes, or using my data?
Anyone try this with the Android L dev preview to see if the MMS bug is fixed?
seems to work ok however I am suspect that those of us with Sprint GV integration are getting hosed, VMs are not coming into hangouts like they are supposed to and emoji still dont work.. maybe they are still rolling out settings on the back end or maybe Sprint users will have to disable GV integration with their cell #s i dunno... Im going to give it some more time and maybe these features will start working in the new hangouts as advertised

Voice+ was not supported in Italy; I assume that it's the same for this... Right?
Working nicely took out my sim card and calls work do work over wifi
with the adfition of the hangouts dialer app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.hangoutsdialer voip calls work great
Once you download the hangouts dialer check the native dialer and you'll see a new tab that shows you statistics!

I do. I can make calls with hangouts. It shows my number to recieve calls via hangouts voice number. Just not SMS. It'll use tmobile to send a text not my voice number. No matter what I've tried.
Can someone check how much data is being used during the phone call (i.e. What's the minimum Internet speed needed to place the phone call)?

no, point was phone calls. texts will be routed through your regular phone number unless you have all your texts use your gvoice number. and i bet it has your regular phone number for texts. whatever is your "confirmed number" is where texts will go through.

The gvoice sms portion is being slowly rolled out by google. Once you have both apps, you'll still have to wait until they allow to use it...I'm assuming whenever you're able to actually download this updated hangouts app from the playstore and not just side-loading it.
