[Q] S-OFF on HTC Legend Hboot 1.01.0000 - Legend General

Hi,I guess then you know then new version of Aplharev X is realesed to wide beta and HTC Wildfire is supported for s-off with hboot 1.01.0001 and 1.01.0002 so i was wondering if it may work with my rooted HTC Legend with hboot 1.01.0000???What do you think?I have no knowlage about the difference between this version but it seams promising to me.
I already tray to connect it with the Alpharev X and it recognise the device but i am scare to press the enter jet.
So let me know your opinion...thanks

Not sure if they will support the legend as there hasnt been any mention of it yet try to contact them and ask?

I was thinking then it is about Hboot version which is actualy supported. There is no any forum or discusion.I can not believe then people with HTC Legend and Hboot 1.01.0000 are not interested about this posibility.anyway thanks.

Well..to end this story..I conntact Alpharev and IT IS actualy about the Hboot version but my device is not supported...interesting...maybe if they give a tray and test it...it may work.i dont see why not.(i am probably wrong but...)we will see.let as hoppe so they will do that for as with S-ON HTC Legend becouse the phone is worth it.... thanks

12:59 < cyRq> hi. i see the topic, but im gonna ask anyway. is there ANY
chance that the new alpharevX WILL support HTC Lgends HBOOT > 1.0.X?
12:59 <@kmdm> a small one
Here's your answer. Still a small chance is better than no chance, so cross your fingers, light some candels and pray, or simply donate to these guys and lets hope they'll gonna get it working.

anybody tried it yet on the legend with hboot 1.01.0000? Im a bit scared to try it, what could happen if it doesn't work?

Best donation you can give them is a damaged Legend so they can test it,like the wildfire that was donated to them with a broken digitizer

Well unfortunately/fortunately mine is still ticking
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA Premium App

I asked about this to the AlphaRevX team before, they do have a legend to work on, but due to difficult coding and mistakes at HTC's end, the chance to s-off 1.01 is very small for the legend. But atleast they do have a Legend to test on.

So anyone tried the AlpharevX method?

What is the main benefit of turning the security off, I have the phone rooted and can run custom roms already, so what else would i be able to do with s-off?

Edit /system in rom, not in recovery like s-on users. That very useful for rom developers and some users who want to remove system apps.

So for example could it be used to remove some of the stock applications like the friend stream app, or would it be easier to remove it from the rom file then flash it?

yes, or you may do that, or you may flash rom and the load into recovery thenremove it from there using adb and your computer

Will HTC open the Hboot from the Legend 1.00.0000 ? (in august)
what do u think about it?
or is the legend a forgoten phone?

I think they will open but in a year or more, maybe even with 2.3 or just some fixes to 2.2

I hope they open it
But in reality it's not going to happen, hboot 1.0 lays in alpharev hands (or anyone who can)

I just talked to the guys from the revolutionary team and this is what they said
Code:
<Hitmax> I just wanted you know if there going to support htc legend hboot 1+, i'm not asking for eta here just asking if youre going to support it. grtz
[20:42] <fifarunnerr> Hmm...I donno, but there's root for it isnt it?
[20:43] <@[COLOR="red"]hyuh[/COLOR]> Hitmax: unlikely.
[20:44] <Hitmax> yes there is, but i'm missing my s-off i had before
[20:45] <Hitmax> to bad to hear that, is the hboot on legend so f**ed up by htc then?
[20:46] <@[COLOR="Red"]hyuh[/COLOR]> Hitmax: if it's not on the list currently that mostly means it didn't pass alpha testing
[20:49] <Hitmax> is it possible it's still in alpha stage? and if not, how come hboot1+ is so difficult (you can go technical on me)?
[20:50] <@[COLOR="red"]hyuh[/COLOR]> Hitmax: 1. No ; 2. off topic here
[20:52] <Hitmax> thanks anyway, now i know for sure s-off hboot 1+ isn't going to come ;)
[20:53] <fifarunnerr> Hitmax: Don't say never, there's always a little chance
[20:55] <Hitmax> if it's not going to come from this team (alpharev and revolution), chances are really low tho
bad news tho..

New to Android...

I got a G1 from ebay. Its rooted and OS is 1.6. It has cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1. build number DRC83. I need to install OS 2.2 and don't have a clue from were to start.
Thanks
Look through g1 development. Cyanogen has a froyo (2.2). Chromatic also has one that's based off it that has good reviews. Just wipe everything in recovery. Download Rom and flash in recovery. You can email me if u have questions. [email protected] also have to have danger spl. There are instructions on all that here on xda

Welcome aboard - if I have but one piece of advise, it is to take your time, read, read, read - search, and make sure you have all of the details and options understood before you jump in. ( I did not follow this rule - and jumped in without fully understanding - and proceeded to brick my first android phone )
To install 2.2 - you will need to get familiar with this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717874
This will help you to not have to install the "Danger SPL" which appears to have been necessary previously - but with these modifications, you can do without.
Be careful with where you take your information from - there are some posts in reference to upgrading, etc that are a bit out of date with the current modifications and files available.
Good luck - welcome aboard

If i get a Google Dev phone, do i have to use danger spl?
danger spl
I think bill is right. Dont know much about dev phones though. The g1 was the only phone that required it due to its internal rom space but firerat made a mtd patch that frees up a lot of internal space so you no longer need that. Thanks for the correction btw. Its a much better way to go. Like he said read read read. There is a vast amount of info in here. Maybe using search for dev phone would be of some assistance.

The Android Dev phone (if you can find one) is the exact same as the standard T-Mobile G1 (Dream) except it is defaulted with the engineering spl and it is sim unlocked. So even if you have the Android Dev phone and want to use Cyanogen's 2.1/2.2 you will still need the Danger SPL. Firerat's mtd patch is an alternative to this and it is much safer.

[Q] Desire HD with Anti-Root Chip?

Hi,
has anybody heard or knows from the Desire Z and Desire HD anti-root chip?
Is this a fake from T-Mobile?
www.mobiflip.de/2010/10/t-mobile-bestaetigt-anti-root-chip-fuer-htc-g2-aka-desire-z
From what I've heard, it's true !
Only T-Mobile Smartphones?
Only T-Mobile Smartphones or other like O2 or HTC?
I suppose its going to be Anti-root even if the device is unbranded and unlocked, right? can anyone with an unbranded/unlocked device confirm this? (for both G2 and Desire HD)
Well, the eMMC data storage chip is not meant to be anti-root on it's own, but it's configuration makes it.. Well, anti-root.
We cannot write to it (not yet anyway), it has a write protection. The device caches all the changes the developers make to the linux file system, and loads an unchanged system from the eMMC chip upon reboot.
LOL, that's bad publicity ...
I think easiest way would be to find a way to S-Off the device first, and than start rooting
Apparently Paul at Modaco has made a one click root app. I've not got a link have a look in the Development section of this forum.

We'll have to wait first to see if hackers can get through the read only eMMC. Once you see that happen, then root and new ROMs are possible.
ATM afaik, people are working on the eMMC problem in the G2 at the moment, hopefully the techniques they find there will be cross-applicable to the desire HD.

not sure how far along you are with your G1.. i assume its rooted haha but the best sense rom i've used to date would have to be zachattack052 & xillius200's 2.1&1.5HERO: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=670414
but with this rom you need to have the latest radio and hboot: 2.22.28.25, 1.33.0013d. this rom has most of the latest features and all those sense widgets we all love so much. If anyone knows of a better rom i would love to try it but as of now thats the best i know of. also if you need help flashing it DO ask questions before trying something you are unsure of.. because there's always that possibility of bricking your beloved G1. and we dont want that now do we..? haha feel free to ask me anything you need..

uhhhmmm im not sure why that would be but i did notice some of the roms dont come with gmail on it so you may have to download the actual gmail app... if not than try reflashing.. because i didnt have that issue.. not sure if it is a huge difference but i also had the 28.25 radio not the 27.08.. also i know it sounds dumb but you actually do have to wait like 10 minutes after the service provider pops up when you first flash.. i recomend following the steps on the rom link exact!! but i know my google services worked when i had it so maybe jus try a reflash if its still not working... sorry for your trouble.. im gonna re flash the rom now so i can see if i find anything...

it should be 2.1 if im not mistaken... my friend just got the 4g evo and this rom can almost do everything that phone does... almost.. lol it's just the G1 is older and slower so you must be careful on how many widgets you use and jus keep an eye out for your basic memory drains.. i reccomend apps2sd

haha yeah i tried that one too and the animations for the clock widget are messed up lol in all honesty the G1 is gonna run hard with all the goodies your looking for so you might have to give up some of those features for it to run smooth... other than that i would use the zx2.1 possibly the best i used so far that has all the eye candy... but i recomend the one i posted earlier bcuz it will run a lil smoother without all the newer stuff like market and photo apk. jus my opinion..

[Q] Need Help..

first sorry for being a noob on this things..
i got a wildfire A3333 with android 2.2.1 running on it..
my question is..i want to root my phone..its possible? what should i do first? do i need to check anything b4 starting to root it?
and again..sorry being a noob :'( please help me!
You have to get S-OFF using Revolutionary. Don't touch Unrevoked, because its not needed and will not work. You can refer the outline of the process here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1029318
after i doing this S-off stuff, its means my phone is rooted and i can run livewallpaper?
No. You will have to install a ROM which supports it. (Which can only be done after getting S-OFF, so its unavoidable)
Just a word of caution - Live Wallpapers immensely slow down the Wildfire, except a few ones.

except a few ones? didnt get what ur means buddy..
There are just a few I personally have tested which doesn't seem to slow down the phone as much as others.
- Starfield 2D
- Solar Wind
- Pixel Rain
- Nexus Like Live Wallpaper
There are probably more out there, but, with the above 4, slowdown is minimal, atleast for me.
ok last question here..
what is the different between rooted and unrooted wildfire..also the advantage of doing this root things :S
Advantages are potentially plenty. You can:
- Install Custom ROMs, including ones with Android 2.3.5
- Remove System Apps from ROMs you dont need
- Live Wallpaper Support
- Proper Apps2SD Support
- Many Root only apps like Titanium Backup (App Backup), SetCPU (Overclock CPU) etc.
In a nutshell, thats about it. There are quite a few more, but I'll keep my post short.
Obviously, none of the above things can be done without rooting your device.
ok many2 thx to u @3xeno..
do u think this stuff easy to do for a novice like me? i really wanna do it..but afraid will broke my wildfire >.<
I would say yes. Everyone is a novice when they start off, so, don't worry about it.
Besides, I would say the process is pretty safe (and easy - Its literally 1 click. I remember the process when Symbian S60 V3 had to be hacked. It needed a digitally signed certificate from an authority!) as well. Haven't seen any brick reports yet. Further, everything is reversible, so you shouldn't have issues claiming warranty in the future if the need arises.
Cyanogen Mod 7 <<-- what is this? i have read it somewhere.. :S
Cyanogenmod 7 is an 2.3.5. AOSP (android open source project) Rom, very fast and stable but it has no sense UI
Edit:It has some problems with GPS and Bluetooth file transfer but i think that can be resolved by flashing a new radio image

so u means if i put this on my wildfire it will bring some problems? and do u know how to fix the problems?
Well I don't know, because when I flashed it i didn't notice any problems except for the Bluetooth. But It's not the same for every phone.
Anyways no major problems, and I recommend that you do a nandroid backup before you flash any Rom just in case something goes wrong.

[Q] beta tester - Desire Z rooter GUI

Background:
My Desire Z is a phone from work, so I guess it's not meant to be fiddled with, but having rooted the other Android devices I have, I was somewhat annoyed that there is nothing similar to the Super One Click for my device.
I have hence produced a front end, that basically does nothing more fancy that proving a GUI front end to existing procedures.
It has two buttons, one for downgrade and one for the rooting.
I use the description (and files) from Cyanomod and I would welcome feedback on the procedures:
Downgrade:
wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Firmware_Downgrade_(Gingerbread)
Rooting:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Desire_Z:_Rooting
Releases:
0.1 - Initial release - framework established, not fully working
0.2 - Second release - Downgrade works to the point where PC10IMG.zip is to be installed. Returns "CID incorrect!"
0.9 - Public beta - has been proven in battle by working on my phone. If DOES state that it failed rooting due to mismatching MD5 hashes, but they do match and it does work so this is still confusing. Very limited error handling, so you can easily fool it in a gazillion different ways.
Files available:

Here you find the distribution package, but also the full source code (Delphi XE2).

You want to automate the two processes - is that correctly understood? It would save a lot of lazy people a lot af reading, that's for sure
Lazy people should not mess with their phone in the first place. As mentioned, if the destination matters to you more than the journey then you should definitely not be here...
Regardless, this is a nice gesture...good luck!

There have been a few people crying about not being able to root since GB. I don't understand why they can't or if there just too many steps. I found it easy but it does take an hour or so. Maybe this will help them. I'm sure they'll being willing/able to test for ya. Thanks!

I will provide the source for it (Delphi XE2) so anyone willing to take a look at that are also welcome to give me a hand.
Correct; automate the two processes of downgrading and of rooting. They are made into two buttons as not everyone would need the downgrade.
I am uploading the two zips to www.bergatrollet.se/root.
The distribution one is quite heavy (300 MB as it contains the old ROM) so I also uypload a version with only the exe file and a reference to the binaries needed.

Quite a few people rooted their phones using Single Click options, and not all of them are lamers.
Fiddling with ADB is IMHO not mandatory knowledge for benefiting from a rooted handset!
That would be awesome if you can do it. I rooted mine quite easily from froyo using scripts or what have you. Visionary for temp root and gfree to finish the job. Abd doesn't work well with this phone.

I'll unroot to test.

The only prerequisite is that you need ADB installed, but all the applications needed and packed in the distribution ZIP.
Do you need your env variables set?

You mean like path? All the tools needed are in ./bin/ relative the exe file (regardless of where you put it), so the only part where I see a need is if the adb needs something of the usb drivers...

+1 on this project.
keep going
Working on it ...
To keep you updated on the progress:
Downgrader:
- There are differences between the Cyanogenmod downgrader guide and the XDA guide. The XDA one features a gold card thing which seemingly isn't necessary. (Can't anyone explain this in a human language?)
- It fails in the part where the mobile validates the PC10IMG.zip where I get an error on the CID.
Rooter:
- Can't test this until the downgrader works, but it could already be OK ;-)
Will update the stuff on the site in a few hours so please don't pick up the version there just yet as it's the old one.

I adjusted the Cyanogenmod instructions by the goldcard sections of the of XDA, which I hope made it work. As said, I am now on CM7.1 after downgrading and rooting with my own code.
