[Q] I really could use some help - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been trying to get Google apps, Android Market, and Netflix app to work on my NC CM7.03 stable for a week now. When I first flashed to CM7 I wiped the system, cache, boot, and data like it told me to in CWR, and the Netflix worked for about 1 day. I tried to re flash CM7 and I have tried installing the gapps.zip when I do a fresh flash, and after I set up wifi. It has not worked at all.
After It not working I tried to put Phiremod 6.3 and this time i got the market to show up in my apps, but it would immediately close. All I want to do is get the market working as well as netflix. Am I missing something? What didn't I do because it seems to me that just about everyone has these working. Please any help is appreciated.

Do you have a nandroid back up? If you did, I would try a full wipe. Data, cache, dalvik cache. Then try a fresh install. It sounds like you have ghosts from prior flashes. Probably already knew that, just trying to help.

Thank you, I will have to try all of the wiping again. im gonna try again in the morning and see if it does the trick. I was wondering as well, should I use CM7 or Phiremod? Both seem to be pretty good I was just wondering which one would run the apps better

Download the latest nightly or CM7.1 RC. Not sure if phiremod incorporates the latest builds from CM7

CM 6.1 Stable

Hey, question. Every single CM from 6.0 I have downloaded I have had issues with. I love the rom, but every time I get the same issue. When I install the rom all worked fine. I wipe all data, clear cache, and have to reinstall of course everything, my issue is that my phone will randomly freeze. Sometimes I get an error message saying the process process.android has failed, other times it just freezes. Does anybody have any ideas?
I loved CM 6.1 best Rom I've had yet. But after a week it started acting up and having problematic auto shutdowns like 8 times a day. I then searched for another stock Rom and tried skyraider vanilla, I hate it. It's basically skinned sense. That's it. I enjoy sense but it eats battery. My favorite roms so far are the desire Hd Rom and
CM but without the shutdowns is be perfect.

only people
So this is the only other person I have run into with this problem. Everybody else I have talked to over other forums or IRC has never heard of these issues at all.
The only time I've ever had those shut down issues is when I start screwing with themes or when I start screwing with kernels or overclocking. I'm not sure what you've got going on there though
Well...
Well I have done some of that however I have reverted to "stock" several times. I have Hboot .92 installed also, i saw something online. The latest radio is also installed. I guess has anybody else seen any issues like this?
Try formatting the system in addition to wiping. CM does not format anything when you flash it. In CWM its under mount sd section.

This happened to me today, I am 99% sure it was the kernel I had installed though. I put back invisiblek's #18 and had no problems before or after.
okay I can mess around with that and see what happens then.

This morning, I d/l the cyanogen 6.1 stable from ROM Manager, I then rebooted my phone into hboot then into recovery console. I then did a wipe of dalvik and battery stats. I then did the wipe data and then the clear partition cache, I then flashed the Cyanogen 6.1 Inc rom... then went fine... I loaded up into Cyanogen I then did a reboot and that's when my phone would not leave the HTC Incredible screen when rebooting! any ideas that can help me? I really like the Cyanogen ROM
Help!!! please!

You need to be a little more specific but do this.
1. Click on the Cyanogen link in my signature and download it.
2. Download google apps
3. Reboot into recovery
4. Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5. Wipe Cache Partition
6. Wipe Dalvik Cache
7. Select install zip from SD card and choose the cyanogen ROM, let it install
8. Select install zip from SD card again and choose the google apps.
9. Reboot your phone and sign into your google account and let everything sync
This is the best way to do it. Not through ROM Manager.
If this doesn't work then I have absolutely no idea. That is the 100% correct way to flash a ROM.

Yeah I mentioned it earlier in this thread. For some reason #21 and #22 do not like cyanogen.
I'm running #21 on my phone and I haven't had any issues yet.
Yeah IDK either... I had to revert now it's running like a champ! love the Inexus theme!
ok an update, I have everything working. I an using cm6.1, latest radio (on cm site), kernel 27, hoot .92, and the very latest clockwork that just came out. I know those last two should not matter, just letting you know. As of right now my phone is not freezing and everything works fine, even faster than before. When I first turned it on the phone did freezer and after that yet took a long time for 3g to start working. On reinstall I did a total revert to stock then did a factory reset and cleared all caches and everything on the phone there is to clear. It has been afew hours. I will update this if there are any more problems

Keeps rebooting more and more time to switch roms

Market auto closing?

So I just installed CM7 on my evo and the market closes no more than a second after I tap it. I've already wiped the caches(dalvik included)and wiped and reinstalled CM7. I can't figure it out. Anyone know what going on?

Which GAPPS did you install?
I installed the pack included in the battery mod .zip on the CM7 page in the dev forum.
Magnus's CM7, that is the only one that I saw with the batterymod flashable.
If soo the GAPPS shouldn't have been packaged with the battmod. Also if you downloaded the one that was called "NewMarket" you shouldn't flash that until after the phone has fully booted up with the initial flash of GAPPS.
If you are looking for CM7 specifically, i recommend using the teamdouche buildbot.
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/?device=supersonic
The topmost download will always be the latest build of CM7, and use this GAPPS download with it.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try the rom and the gapps whem I get home.
Pretty much.. just wipe the market cache and data. Then launch the application again.

I already wiped everything earlier and it didn't work.
@ Khilbron
Thank you very much. It turned out that it was just the Gapps that I flashed. I used your package and it works flawlessly now.

CM7 RC2 Problem - possibly gapps corruption?

Hey yall I'm having a problem with my Aria. I formatted my micro sd and wiped the phone to start with a clean slate. I downloaded CM7 RC2 from the CM website and i also downloaded gapps from there as well. but when i installed RC2 and gapps it would start up normally then when i would try to use the setup wizard it would freeze once i touched the android guy and would go into a boot loop. i recorded a video to help explain what im talking about. could it possibly be a corrupted version of gapps? cause i tried installing just rc2 and it worked fine....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZWiYGHh8LQ
Was it plugged in while in recovery?
yes and no. i didnt have it plugged in the first time around but the second time i did. and i did a factory reset, cleared the cache and the dalvik cache
Try re downloading the rom and gapps file. Make sure phone is unplugged and wipe data and caches again and then flash again. Ghats what I would do.

Sounds like you might be using the wrong gapps. Double check you got the right one.

[Q] CM7 to GingerBlur---- Will it work?

Hey guys,
I have successfully gotten rdannar's CM7 2.3.5 onto my bravo and is working FANTASTICALLY! [Thanks rdannar, truly amazing work]
I have the problem that everyone else is having, the brightness issue. Also, I am not a huge fan of GO SMS. Is there a way to get the stock SMS back on the phone? Or are we stuck with it?
I also wanted to know if it was possible for me to go from CM7 2.3.5 to GingerBlur 2.3.4? I know its a downgrade, and when I tried it the first time, I was left with a phone to sbf back to stock. I like CM7, but the brightness and Texting apps just aren't for me.
Thanks guys.
You could also download hand cent SMS.
You can try flashing , directly, but there's a good chance you will have to data wipe on the way... I finally bought titanium backup...
Well I tried to do it a couple days ago, but to no avail. I got stuck with a phone I had to SBF and then re-work to get on CM7. True pain. But I got it working.
Just trying to feather the waters and see which one is better, GingerBlur, or CM7?

More stuff works in the ginger blur than CM7 at the moment. I liked a lot of the possibilities of cm7, but it's not write there. Having tried then all, i'm currently ruining the miui port add the must stable, but with some nice options ...
Well i cant get miui flashed or gingerblur flashed.

You're like the only one. Maybe you're not following instructions right?
Every time i try, it goes into a bootloop. Can you get me a step by step guide?
Are you doing a full system wipe before boot

Yes, I've wiped dalvik cache, wiped data/ factory reset, and wiped cache partition. I'm using bandroidx's Moto Bravo Bootstrapper, might that be the problem?

[Q] Clockwork Mod Rom update problems?

So I finally got arround to getting my Nook up-to-date from 7.1 to the 7.2 encore CM7 rom. Thought that Rom Manager would take care of everything for me, and it looked like it was well on its way.
So it finally downloads and I'm all excited to install it, maybe it'll help the random hanging errors when I'm on wifi. (dummy me) Selected just to wipe dlavick (sp?) cache and not backup current rom, and durring the install, it reports a critical error and fails out. Okay, fine, sounds good, i'll just hop online and figure out how to manually install it. I reboot, and it just hangs. Wierd, but I reboot again. And again. And I finally come to the conclusion that it must have screwed over my old rom as well.
If anyone can give me an idea of how to proceede, do i reflash a new rom? And how do I go about it without damaging the current files that I have installed, I've got a few hundred ebooks and comics that i'd hate to lose.

Go to my tips thread linked in my signature and make a bootable CWM SD per my item A10. If your books and comics are on SD do not use that SD for CWM, use a different one. Then you can flash the new CM7.2 ROM with that. It should boot fine for you. If it still balks on you, go back to CWM and do a wipe data/factory reset. That will wipe out the installed apps and settings, but will not effect the books and comics you have on your media partitions (emmc and sdcard). But you will have to reinstall all of your apps.
