Ok i will set it up on VirtualBox through Windows 7. Ubuntu will be ok?
Yes. Ubuntu is ok. I trying Android Kitchen on my Slackware 13.0 but no on Virtual Box. You can use cygwin... The most important thing is: You must have Linux with java modules... -> all is in instruction for Android Kitchen.

1. is KiNgKernel compatible with it? if not, can i use an overclocked hydra kernel? im pretty sure that one will work.
2. am i supposed to run the adb shell with the phone on recovery? or just turned on? because when the phone is in recovery, i am able to run ubuntu.sh, but not rebootubuntu, and when i have the phone turned on, neither works!

First of all, in all caps at the top of this section of the forum it clearly states "No Q&A in development"
Secondly, kingkernel is compatible with all SENSE roms. Seeing as ubuntu isn't installed as a rom or a default OS for the android platform it's really not "compatible". For ubuntu to be running on your phone, it's run through another app after you've already booted into a rom (Skyraider, Stock 2.1, Leaked 2.2, CM6, etc...) I can't remember off the top of my head how it runs but please use the search button. I know there's already a thread with hundreds of posts with the information you're looking for.

It runs with a kernel that supports "loop back devices".
If i were you, i would just flash the cm6 boot.img onto whatever Rom yu are using

Huh? Yes, running ubuntu requires loop-back support.....buy why would you suggest that he flash the cm6 boot.img? I'd love to hear your reasoning behind this....
FYI, I'm the guy who compiled the very first kernel for running ubuntu on 2.1 stock roms - obsolete now that Hydra Kernels, KingKlick's Kernel, and I believe the SkyRaider kernel all support loop-back. I can't imagine the benefit (or horrible side effects for that matter) that would come as a result of flashing a cm6 boot.img to a sense rom......
Also just a note to those of you who are interested in running ubuntu on your incredible: any and all apps need to be compled for the ARM processor in your phone. There is NO flash support, so no hulu, no flash sites, no aircrack-ng. Yes it will run, but it's nothing fancy. I never did end up seeing enough benefits to continue using it on my incredible.

CyanogenMod is a ROM not an addon. Its basically a tweaked version of AOSP 2.2. So you have to flash a whole CM6 ROM to use it, you will find a ton of CM6 based versions around here for the HD2.
P.S. The best place for questions like this are in the Q&A section.

How to install Android 2.2 Froyo on Xperia X10????? I am currently running android 2.1 with build number 2.1.A.0.435
I am on AT&T.
Hey man wats up. You have to install xrecovery and root your phone. But if you need a video tutorial go to youtube and subscribe to bluechip. He has a ton of videos on this
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Can you give me the link???
I just wanted to flash to android 2.2. I dont want to root it. is it possible?
no.
u'll need root to install xRecovery,
then from the "X10 Android Development", choose a suitable rom for yourself and follow the instructions made by the developer
(Normally roms are installed using xRecovery)

No, there is no official 2.2 ROM for the X10 and there never will be.
So, to install 2.2 you'll need a custom ROM, cooked by the extremely clever and dedicated folk here at XDA. To get a 2.2 ROM on your phone, you need to install xRecovery. To install xRecovery you need to root your phone. If you want to backup your Apps (highly recommended), you need Titanium Backup, which requires root access. All the 2.2 ROMs available include root access.
If you're worried about rooting your phone, you probably need to stick to a stock SE 2.1 ROM.
There's no risk in rooting, you can always unroot without/and/or revert(ing) to your stock. but I'm guessing since you're running the 2.1 (current build) in america, you're not worried about stock. Don't fear the root!
Also, flashing roms with xreovery (also need busybox) is painless, fun and addictive; plus you can make complete backups of your current state, just incase you f-it up

Search the Android Development forum instead of posting here..
Sent from my X10i 2.2.1 using XDA App
So I searched the android development forum and found many ROMs. Can anyone suggest the most stable ROM for android 2.2 on Xperia X10?
FreeX10 Froyo:

Make sure you READ the thread and follow the instructions.

Follow my guide from my signiture, its idiot proof.
Sent from my CM 7 x10 using the XDA ap
I use CM 6.1.3 v 4.2 and it's the best of all Froyos on x10. But I want my Camera. it dose not work fully.
As long as bootloader is not open, Froyo is just a ROM on to pof 2.1.... so no 100% Froyo
Mugur
http://mugur-ionescu.ro/tag/xperia
but even not being "true" froyo, those custom ROMs still run better than 2.1 and you can use all froyo features like app 2 sd and adobe flash, it's worth a try and even fun to check different builds and see what each dev added.
So far i've tryed rendeiro's and wolfbreak's cyanogen 6.1.3 ROMs, i prefer the later because i like to tweak the UI myself, but both run great.

try Vignette, but the "deprecated version" and not the "new version". it's the best i've tested so far, only one that works at 8 megapixel.

this is the one i am using as of now.
till now super performance and looks as compared to the stock rom.....

I am assuming you are asking about Beats by Dre integration? If that is the case then that is not currently possible on CM7 as it is tied into the HTC Sense framework.

There are Roms posted in the Dev section. ICS Stock also.
Your best bet, would be to look at the directory structure on some stock rooted roms, and also look at the updater script for them.
This will give you a good starting point on what to change in your script as far as BB and SU.
MD
Also, I highly recommend you look into the android build system.
Yes its complicated.
yes its hard at first.
but there is only so much you can do to mod an already compiled rom.
even with little coding experience you are able to do a lot when you have access to the source!
plus, if you fix something, you can submit it to have it fixed for everyone.
between this guide and our CM9 thread, you should be able to get started. we have some basic setup instructions over there.
